Dad and Me

Inside our house you'll find crannies and nooks.
Crevices and cracks and fissures and books!
Books under the bed and on the floor,
Books around the table and beside the door,
Books on the bookshelf and surrounding it,
Books all over the house, every single bit!
Not a one of these books are non-fiction,
Different worlds are their depiction.
Fictional, sci-fi, dark and fantasy,
Horror and happy, more books for me!
Books belonging to my father,
Or belonging to me as I rather.
My father and I in bookworm heaven,
Until mum cleans up around half past seven.
She throws the books in a huff,
Says it's a mess and to clean it up!
Well dad and I try to clean,
But on the work we quickly wean
And in one of the larger nooks
You'll find dad and me reading our books.

#34

Oh, my head lay back on the seating
Been so tired, throw away my surrounding
Like the sun and moon take for granted
Soon we move through the flood and we fade away
Lie about it,
Cry about it,
Well be ok
Lean upon me,
Ill lean upon you,
Well be okay
Oh, I lay myself at your feet laughing
Hope mine eye made of the soul choir
Lean upon me,
Ill lean upon you,
Well be okay
Lie about it,
Cry about it,
Soon fade away
Lie about it,
Cry about it,
Well be okay
Lean upon me,
Ill lean upon you,
Well be okay

Payment

A tortuous path of neurons arced a call: ‘Awake! ’
I did; in rising, peering, stretching, bearing,
Pained anticipation saw it all:
Foretold, another filthy day.

I drew the drape: diluvian lay the ground
Beneath a lazy leaden cloud – apissing out
The puddles; irksome on the roof –
The drumming drops of bitter glee
Were hounding out a hapless me –
Reinforcing doubt that I am sound.

I left the house
to go to work
to earn a crust
without a perk
then on to bust
another straining vessel.

Trudging on thro’ mud and clay, I pondered:
‘Why a drought of happy times?
Auspicious climes were
Old and fusty books
Atop a dusty shelf
Inside a morgue-of-a-room,
Somewhere in a long-forgotten library
Down a lane without a way.’

I thought again: ‘And still I pay.’

Headed For The Future

Written by: neil diamond, tom hensley and alan lindgren
Hey, were headed for the future
Give us some room
Were gonna build a new world
Say, were headed for the future
Give us some time
Were gonna make it work right
Yeah, were gonna build a new dream
Weve got to make it stand tall
Its got to last a long time
Lean on me
And Im gonna lean on you
Were headed for the future
And the futures now
Show you how
Yeah, were headed for a new place
A step at a time
Were gonna take a long ride
Time dont wait around forever
Weve got to do it right now
Lets do it all together
Lean on me
And Im gonna lean on you
Were headed for the future
And the futures now
Show you how
Lean on me
Cause Im gonna lean on you
Were headed for the future
Come on, lean on me
And Im gonna lean on you
Were headed for the future
And the futures ours
Come on, come on
Come on, come on
Come on, come on
Yeah

dried beans, salt pork,
flour, lard, coffee,

matches, sharp knife,

candles and books...

pull the blanket close,
hold those that you love.

eyes squinted, lips tight!

Work Hard, Play Harder

Work seems to be mandatory,
For people like me,
Slaving over books at school,
Just to get the grades,

We don’t have much money,
So after school I work,
Cleaning, babysitting, retail,
It’s tiring after awhile,

Homework and coursework,
Two more pains of teenage life,
It seems to me that I,
Work all night and work all day,

In the future for many years to come,
I know I’ll have to work,
Uni work and training,
I’ll need a part time job too,

But then I see, between it all,
I do get a rest and have fun,
I have great times, out with friends,
Addicted to CSI,

So now I work faster,
To get it over with,
Cus my philosophy is,
Work hard now, play harder later.

Lean On You

The firt step to heaven
I will take in my life
I am not afraid when
I can hold you tight
If there must be an answer
Then there must be a prayer
And you must be the angel
When youre standing there
So I lean on you, I lean on you
My life is such a statement
Of my hopes and despairs
But nothing really matters
Just as long as youre there
You love me such honesty,
You love with no gain
You speak to me so tender
And you never explain
So I lean on you, I lean on you
My baby she cares
Its so easy to do
My baby she tells me what to do
She always tells me the truth
My baby she cares
Its so easy to do
My baby knows what Im gonna do
Thats why I lean on you
I dream of an island,
Of a fantasy place
Where I can go to sometimes
And nobody can trace
Well such is the nature,
The nature of love
That when we dream it
Sometimes means that we need love
So I lean on you, I lean on you
My baby she cares
Its so easy to do
My baby she tells me what to do
She always tells me the truth
My baby she cares
Its so easy to do
My baby knows what Im gonna do
Thats why I lean on you
So I lean on you, I lean on you
I lean on you, so I lean on you
(repeat chorus)

Books

The universe (which others call the library). . .
-Jorge Luis Borges

Books which are stitched up the center with coarse white thread
Books on the beach with sunglass-colored pages
Books about food with pictures of weeping grapefruits
Books about baking bread with browned corners
Books about long-haired Frenchmen with uncut pages
Books of erotic engravings with pages that stick
Books about inns whose stars have sputtered out
Books of illuminations surrounded by darkness
Books with blank pages & printed margins
Books with fanatical footnotes in no-point type
Books with book lice
Books with rice-paper pastings
Books with book fungus blooming over their pages
Books with pages of skin with flesh-colored bindings
Books by men in love with the letter O
Books which smell of earth whose pages turn

The Good Lord Is Irish

Twas in a wee little kirk
Nestled deep in the heather
Where leprechauns lurk
mid fog and brash weather

Where wee Father Flanagan stood
Attired in black coat and white collar
Aponderin’ evil and good
E’ twas Five foot two and na’ taller

Aponderin’ the warld’
and to how it might end
And how things might unfarl
When tis gone round the bend

“Oh dear Lard, how twillit be when we go?
Twill all be gone, or will yet some linger? ”
To which the Lard replied in voice soft and low
“suure and I’ll show ye my son, just pull my finger.

Who Knows Where Time Goes

Time is something we don't understand,
It's gone with a hello and a shake of the hand.
Never enough time for those you hold dear
But always, time for sadness and tears.
Time, you can't se it at all
For it passes so quickly --- while you lean on a wall.
Who knows where time goes/
No time for the dreams you have for yourself
Nor time for reading all the books the shelf.
Not enough time to go drifting along
For one has to work eight hours long.
Who knows where time goes?
No time to laugh --- and just be alone,
No time at all for friend or foe.
Time is running out --- people all say,
Who knows where time goes --- each and every day!

Four Letter 'Work' Song

Work me up, work me out, work me flip side down.
Work me here, work me there, work me with renown.
Work me hot, work me greedy,
work me through and through.
Work me to the very marrow,
work me just like I'd work you.
Work me proud, work me late,
work me do not hesitate.
Won't you let me work for you?
Work me til I'm black and blue.
Work me steady, work me needy, work me to a lather.
Work me til my backbone breaks, and the buzzards gather.
Work me in, work me under, work me til I bleed,
Work me over red hot coals, work me like a boss in need.
Work me nasty, work me silly, work me through the clover.
Up down, 'n' in between, into a slipknot sweet Jehovah.
Work me, work me, go ahead.
Work me, work me, til I'm dead.

Lean On Me-Live

Enough lies
Were all helping
We all help in sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that theres allways tomorrow
Lean on me
When youre not strong
Ill be your strenght
Ill help you carry on
For it wont be long
til Im gonna need somebody to lean on
Just call on me brother
When you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that youd understand
We all need somebody to lean on
Lean on me
When youre not strong
Ill be your strenght
Ill help you carry on
For it wont be long
til Im gonna need somebody to lean on
Lean on me
When youre not strong
Ill be your strenght
Ill help you carry on
For it wont be long
til Im gonna need somebody to lean on

Roads To Happiness

Some people do inspire
Books always inspire
Every work of art
Incorporates desire.

There comes an impulse
And one seizes pen and paper
Yes, it's a different flavour...
Then it is like fire.

Each line starts burning
From the bottom of one's heart
We let the flame rise
Until soul reaches paradise.

To those inspiring people
To those gripping books
To every work of art
We are fully indebted
We confess
We've found roads to happiness!

Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Let Me Lean Hard

Let me lean hard upon the Eternal Breast;
In all earth's devious ways, I sought for rest
And found it not. I will be strong, said I,
And lean upon myself. I will not cry
And importune all heaven with my complaint,
But not my strength fails, and I fall, I faint:
Let me lean hard.

Let me lean hard upon the unfailing Arm.
I said I will walk on, I fear no harm,
The spark divine within my soul will show
The upward pathway where my feet should go,
But now the heights to which I msot aspire
Are lost in clouds. I stumble and I tire;
Let me lean hard.

Let me lean harder yet. That swerveless force
Which speeds the solar systems on their course
Can take, unfelt, the burden of my woe,
Which bears me to the dust and hurts me so;
I thought my strength enough for any fate,
But lo! I sink beneath my sorrow's weight:
Let me lean hard.

Sufferagette City (Suffer In The City)

(Bowie)
Hey man oh leave me alone, you know
Hey man oh Henry, get off the phone, I gotta
Hey man I gotta straighten my face
This mellow thighed chick just put my spine out of place
Hey man schooldays insane
Hey man my work's down the drain
Hey man well she's total blam-blam
She said she had to squeeze it but she... and then she...
Don't lean on me man, 'cause you can't afford the ticket
I'm back on Suffragette City
Don't lean on me man,
'Cause you ain't got time to check it
You know my Suffragette City
Is outta sight... she's all right
Hey man, ah Henry, don't be unkind, go way
Hey man, ah! I can't take you this time, no way
Hey man, ah droogie don't crash here
There's only room for one and here she comes, here she comes
Don't lean on me man, 'cause you can't afford the ticket
I'm back on Suffragette City
Don't lean on me man,
'Cause you ain't got time to check it
You know my Suffragette City

Lean On Me

Heavy burden on your shoulder
Lean on me
Heavy burden on your shoulder
Lean on me
Heavy burden on your shoulder
Everyday just a little bit harder
Heavy burden on your shoulder
Lean on me
Down and out without hope
Lean on me
Down and out without hope
Lean on me
Down and out without hope
Im right here, Ill help you cope
Down and out without hope
Lean on me
Grab a rope and pull me in
But lean on me
Everyday, youll have a friend
But lean on me
Grab a rope, pull me in
Everyday youll have a friend
Grab a rope
In the world, ? ?
And if youre looking for a rainy day friend
Well grab a rope, pull me in
Lean on me
Heavy burden cloudy skies
Lean on me
Ill be the ? ? of weeping eyes
But lean on me
If you always feels like rain
All youve got in life is pain
Heavy burden, go away
Oh... , goodbye
Heavy burden, on you shoulder
Lean on me

Little Fugue In "G"

(Lawrence Gowan)
Get your eyes open wide
And take a good look there outside
You're not here to be denied
Let them have it
Sail them rivers, fly those skies
Thirty-thousand suns to rise
And among them your true love lies
You're gonna find it
Little Face
Little Face
You got big things coming
Bigger than you ever dreamed
Little Face
Little Face
I am beside you running
On this good ol' boy you can lean
You can lean
See Little Face I understand
I won't force you on command
You can meet your own demands
And I will help you
See Little Face
Little Face
We got big things coming
Bigger than you ever dreamed
Little Face
Little Face
I am beside you running
On this good ol' boy you can lean
You can lean
And if the law should ever catch you
Doing things you shouldn't ought to do
Count on me to raise your ball 'cause
I've done worse than you could ever do
Little Face
Little Face
I ame beside you running
On this ol' boy you can lean
You can lean
You can lean right here
Little Face

Always, it is poetry time

Life is filled with work to do,
Always there is, with me,
Poetry time, an escape, like you
Were so tirelessly breathing
And then
Take a cat’s nap, in a corner
Of your mind on a frame hung
On the solid wall,
Always it is poetry time with me,
Otherwise, life is nothing but
One that is hammered with work to do,
Feeling like a funeral, like a murder scene,
& Without,
Poetry time, there is just a lonely face,
Reading and writing books and books
And serious looks in crazy nooks,

And where can smile be? Tell me.
