Take Me to the Taxidermist

I told my wife the other night
when she came back to bed
my feet were cold so now's
the time for me to tell her
not to bury me or burn me
or give my body to science.

Take me to the taxidermist
and have him dress me in
Cary Grant's tuxedo, a pair
of paten leather shoes
from Fred Astaire and a
straw hat from Chevalier.

Once I'm a Hollywood star,
stand me in the garden with
that chorus line of blondes,
brunettes and redheads
I stationed there the day she
flew home to Mother in a snit.

Years later now, my dancers still
kick high enough to lance the sun.
I plan to hold a last rehearsal
once my wife motors into town
and finds a priest who'll say
a thousand Masses for my soul.

Butterfly Collector

Stuck behind,
Only watching,
She moves fleetingly,
I’m only watching.

The glass between us,
Only watching,
The gulf behind us,
I’m only watching.

I don’t want to be
A butterfly collector,
I don’t want to be
Just a butterfly collector.

The class between us,
Only watching,
She moves on the street,
I’m only watching.

I don’t want to be
A butterfly collector,
I don’t want to be
Just a butterfly collector.

I want to be somewhere else,
I want to be far away,
I want to be somebody else,
Because I don’t want to be a butterfly collector.

I don’t want to be
A butterfly collector,
I don’t want to be
Just a butterfly collector.

I don’t want to be,
I don’t want to be,
I don’t want to be,
I don’t want to be a butterfly collector.

Think Ill let her keep on going
Where ever it is, shes goin, too.
Give her my autograph and tell her
Its been nice knowin you.
Chorus
Shes a star collector (collector of stars)
She only sims to please young celebraties.
Shes a star collector (collector of stars)
How can I love her, when I just dont respect her?
When everthing is goin my way,
She wants to be close at hand.
She moves to some other doorway
When things dont go the way she planned.

From Epidermal Taxidermy to Internal Epiphany

FROM EPIDERMAL TAXIDERMY TO INTERNAL EPIPHANY

Portrait of fair mind is neither, nor!
neither mastered nor in pieces shred,
displayed to touring tourists - Turrell's bore -
whose dreams no themes of genius hint ahead.
Could paint drip down to mop pain's vail of tears,
unveiling pooled oasis to exchange,
past wraith, fresh faith to grace remaining years,
then fears would fade before excitement strange.
From monochrome to rainbow glow display
“we are such stuff as dreams are made of” shows,
no lifeless stuffing, feathers drooping, fray;
vitality surpasses surface glows
to put to shame greyed taxidermist’s skills
forever fixed in time: true talent spills.

True talent overflows as curiousity
channels potential, recent acquisitions,
to harness latent energy, to free
flame burning to encounter twin shared visions.
Gold courage holds no secrets for fair muse
whose darker shades may by Miss, understood,
misunderstandings sweep away to choose
hues better read, refusing mirage wood.
If one would ink fresh portrait of fair mind
contact’s impact could do it justice true,
where words match deeds indeed, feed surge behind
layered lines to tempt that talent through.
No taxidermist’s trophy, prized possession,
pro-active win/win casts out sin, transgression.

Shared view should sunshine through tune-blended flow
to filter out, to mend, doubt’s daunting pain,
suspend in amber all imbroglio
freeing focus, tender trust sustain.
Bottled up desire too well preserves
formaldehyde-postponed screw-cap allure,
throttles interaction, tires, reserves
soul’s parking place, secure in sinecure.
Restraints life paints can’t canvas open urge,
anticipate emotions strong, long stored
in hibernation waiting to emerge,
eager for adventures unexplored.
Suspended animation soul-song cheats
with taxidermist version of heart’s beats.

Could luck alight tonight and somehow show
new way to leech frustration numbing brain,
expelling anguish, clear life’s window pane
enabling visibility again,
tranquility, well-being, would be served
enlightenment free from base forfeiture,
patience rewarded, confidence unswerved
empowerment united would endure.
Presentiments’ proactive sudden surge
should spring untrammelled, never over-awed,
harmony should music make, minds merge,
afford fair future, fabulous award.
No trophy, conquest, motivates fresh start,
no taxidermist stuffing for cold heart.

Emancipation, insight bright, should show
swift way to waft away harsh pressure-pain,
reach through both silence, speech, teach two could know
there’s never need to outwardly explain.
No need to hide. When tenderness may glow
self-preservation safe in status quo
ill jars upon will’s senses – none can sow
deep frozen feelings on prepackaged plane.
Encourage feelings stage by stage to grow,
to soar with wings of scope whose hope won’t wane -
through chrysalid until the imago
lifts suspended animation’s chain.
Unexplored emotions free, elective,
shun taxidermist stuffing too protective.

From Hibernation

Could luck alight tonight and somehow show
how to leech out each doubt which wracks the brain,
retain in amber life’s imbroglio,
from strife pluck pain, so only joys remain.

Jars of desire, too long, too well preserved -
formaldehyde-suspension forfeiture -
lack patience, trust a track has been reserved
to pack soothed heart in comfort sinecure.

Such insulation flash froze vital urge,
which reawakens after aeons stored,
from hibernation soul-song must emerge
to share adventures so far unexplored.

No trophy, conquest, motivates bold start –
no taxidermist stuffing for cold heart..

Why then, the light within would brighter flow
to waft away anxiety and pain,
in silence shared gain confidence to know -
there’d be no need to outwardly explain.

No need to hide when tenderness may glow, -
Who needs formaldehyde with meanings plain?
It jars upon the senses – who could sow
deep frozen sentiments on prepacked plane?

Encourage feelings stage by stage to grow,
to sweep from source force into life again -
through chrysalid until the imago
suspended animation lifts, sheds skein.

Emotions unexplored two now should chart
No taxidermist stuffing for the heart!

What is the difference between....?

What is the difference between black and white?
What is the difference between day and night?
What is the difference between love and hate?
What is the difference between a woman and a mate?
The answers seem to be so easy
as the difference between to be free and to be busy.
But! Can you tell me the difference between a lie and a truth?
Can you tell me the difference between old age and youth?
Will you tell me the difference between a grant and a sob?
If you don’t know this difference you can flop.
I would like to know the difference between wrong and right,
I would like to know the difference between a war and a fight.
If you know the answers please, write.
It will be interesting to know your opinion,
And may be I will find it to be brilliant.

Oh collector I'm so sorry
You had the notion that I was rolling
In the money no I'm sorry
But I'll pay you
No Worry
Let's Sing Softly
Let's Sing Softly
Oh so softly
Not so heavy
I've been heavy with my fortune
Like a crystal and a hammer
I'm so sorry Oh collector
I'm away now in a hurry
Repeat Chorus
Get up all you fighters
Don't you lie here now
Oh collector you had it coming
It was that funny we were rolling
Oh collector we're so sorry

Even now in heaven
There were angels carrying savage weapons
An eye for an eye...(for an eye...)
A tooth for a tooth...(for a tooth...)
Run, run, run,
But you sure can't hide...(hide...hide)
An eye for an eye...(for an eye...)
A tooth for a tooth...(for a tooth...)
Run, run, run,

Is that room been fit to earth?
Doesn't help the ??? to grow sunshine?
Is this darkness all you'll take?
Have you'd passed through this life?
Run, run, run, but you sure can't hide...(hide, hide...)

This grain evil
Where is it come from?
Had still the end of the world?
Who's doing this?
Who's killed us?
Marking us with the sign of the holy mighty man

When Youve Got What It Takes

When youve got what it takes
Youve got nothing to hide
Youve got miles of feelings
And acres of pride
Youve got it
Youve really got it
When you know who you are
Then you live what you feel
You give what you can
And its good when youve really got it
And when youve got it
(*) let it out
Let it show
Letem know
Inside youve got it
Let it shine like a fine tomorrow
For when you do
The feeling comes back to you
What a difference it makes
When youve got what it takes
What a difference it makes
When youve got it
When youre sure of your heart
Then you give it away
And love is a promise
You keep every day
You know it
And when you know it
You begin to believe
Youll do more than survive
That the best part of being is being alive
You feel it
And when you feel it
Repeat (*)
When a difference it makes
When youve got what it takes
What a difference it makes
When youve got it
When a difference it makes
When youve got what it takes
What a difference it makes
When youve got it everyday

The Butterfly Hunter

O hunter
butterfly collector
let us be
We got a life
we love to fly
and we got family

O don’t catch us
don’t bottle us
don’t gas us
let us be

we love to fly
and we love to bring joy
to poets in gardens;
we love to bring laughter
to children in the fields

O please, Collector
do not bring death to us

O hunter
butterfly collector
let us be
We got a life
we love to fly
and we got family

Indifference / Alive

I will light the match this mornin' so I won't be alone
Watch as she lies silent for soon that will be gone
Oh I will stand arms outstretched pretend I'm free to roam
I will make my way through one more day in hell
How much difference does it make
How much difference does it make
I will hold the candle till it burns up my arm
Oh I'll keep takin' punches ha-ha until their will grows tired
Oh I will stare the sun down until my eyes go blind
Hey I won't change direction and I won't change my mind
How much difference does it make yea
How much difference does it make how much difference
I'll swallow poison until I grow immune
I will scream my lungs out till it fills this room
How much difference (x2)
How much difference does it make yea
How much difference does it make

Were All Water

There may not be much difference
Between chairman mao and richard nixon
If we strip them naked
There may not be much difference
Between marilyn monroe and lenny bruce
If we check their coffins
There may not be much difference
Between white house and hall of people
If we count their windows
There may not be much difference
Between raquel welch and jerry rubin
If we hear their heartbeat
Were all water from different rivers
Thats why its so easy to meet
Were all water in this vast, vast ocean
Someday well evaporate together
There may not be much difference
Between eldrige cleaver and queen of england
If we bottle their tears
There may not be much difference
Between manson and the pope
If we press their smile
There may not be much difference
Between rockefeller and you
If we hear you sing
There may not be much difference
Between you and me
If we show our dreams
Were all water from different rivers
Thats why its so easy to meet
Were all water in this vast, vast ocean

Never Given A Chance To Happen

It would have made a difference,
If those experienced and willing...
To volunteer their time,
To secure the cementing of foundations...
Were regarded as friends.
And not threats to suspect of wanting,
To flaunt special attention given.

It would have made a difference,
If those who had nothing...
Accepted someone with something to give,
As a benefit to the environment.
With an advantage for all.
Instead of someone to ignore...
Defaming with a smearing campaign,
In a hope to see them fall.

It would have made a difference,
To the ones who now...
Have surrounded themselves,
In surmounting conflicts...
Creating their mental and physical ailments.

It would have made a difference,
If mindsets were connected...
To a discipline respected.
It would have made a difference,
But that difference...
Was never given a chance to happen.

It would have made a difference,
If opportunities presented...
Were recognized.

It would have made the difference!
But it didn't!

As If a Treasure Being Threatened

Arizona is 'a-lonah'
And unfortunate it is!
To witness folks with ancient beliefs...
That they can live lives independently.
Regardless of who says what in a democracy.

How many 'illegals' own American property?
Or walk up and down Main Street USA...
Portraying anyone they wish.
And may not speak a word of English.
Melanin is the difference.

A difference that conflicts with interest!
And divides those who hide their racist afflictions.
With a protection of this ignorance...
As if a treasure being threatened to be taken away!
Instead of the reverse being their curse.

'Bless those of feeble mind and deed!
Bless those who believe...
This Earth belongs to 'them'.
And only for them to breed.
Bless the minds of those ignorant...
However they hide to disguise when they feed.'

Nowhere To Run

Dont know whats been going on in your head, no
When you knew that his love was through
You closed your eyes instead
I was there with a shoulder to lean on
Its not gonna happen twice
If you go I just want you to know
Its alright
Nowhere to run, nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide, nowhere to hide
Nowhere to run, nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide, nowhere to hide
Did you think it would open up in the night, yeah
Just pretend Im only a friend and disappear from sight
One day youre gonna be lonely, wishing I was by your side
And one day youll think of me only
But girl, you gotta take the ride
Well too bad, now that the damage is done
Nowhere to run, nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide, nowhere to hide
Nowhere to run, nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide, nowhere to hide
Nowhere to run, nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide, nowhere to hide
Nowhere to run, nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide, nowhere to hide
Little girl, gonna make your bed in the night, yeah
Now you say youre going away
But I will keep your heart
And you will cry when you realize you were wrong
Run on, run on
Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide
Nowhere to run, no
Nowhere to run, nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide, nowhere to hide
Nowhere to run, nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide, no
Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide

Is There A Difference?

Is there a difference between yes and no
Is there a difference between up and down
Must I fear what others fear
What nonsense
Some people are content
Enjoying things that belong to tradition
With the seasons they cast their lot
Without a question
Other men are clear and bright and solid
Other men are sharp and clever and jolly
And we go wo oh oh wo oh oh oh wo
Is there a difference between high and low
Is there a difference between then and now
Do we have to live in pain and fear
What nonsense
People are drifting like the waves on the sea
Without direction like the restless wind
Not knowing forward not knowing back
Just existing
Other men are strong and full of courage
Other men are witty and full of knowledge
And we go wo oh oh wo oh oh wo
Other men are clear and bright and solid
I alone am drifting on the sea
Other men are sharp and clever and jolly
Restless like the wind
And we go wo oh oh wo oh oh wo
Is there a difference
Is there really a difference
Yes and no
Is there a difference
Up and down
Is there a difference
High and low
Is there a difference
Then and now
Is there a difference
Yes and no
Is there a difference
Up and down
Is there a difference
