Do not say, 'It is morning,' and dismiss it with a name of yesterday. See it for the first time as a newborn child that has no name.

Lullaby
(duncan)
I give you stars and sunshine
A rainbow at your feet each time you rise
So dry your eyes
The house of yesterday is crumblin at my feet
But I dont mind, I had my time
I am but yesterday
And you my child, tomorrow
Theres nothing I can give you
For you have more than me
You are the truth within your youth
I watch you dance and playing
The little prince of all that you survey
Each night, each day
I am the good old days,
And you my child, tomorrow
If I have any future
It is within your eyes
Each time you smile
My child, my child
The hand of life will rock you
I brought you forth
And then my task was through
I give to you
This wondrous view
I am but yesterday
And you my child, tomorrow
And you my child, tomorrow
And you my child, tomorrow

Yesterday's Child
Yesterday's child
I remember so well.
So young, full of hope
of good things they tell.
Yesterday's child
future of life.
Free from the pain
of discord and strife.
Yesterday's child
innocent gift
running free and wild,
mind adrift.
Yesterday's child
soft and pure.
If I wonder away
you're loves' great lure.
Yesterday's child
an adult today
neither soft nor pure
but gone a stray.
What has possessed our hearts so cruel?
Once a perfect child
is now a perfect fool.

Yesterday, When I Was Mad
Yesterday (yesterday yesterday)
Yesterday (yesterday yesterday)
Yesterday (yesterday yesterday) when i was mad
Yesterday (yesterday yesterday) when i was mad
Darling, you were wonderful, you really were quite good
I enjoyed it, though, of course, no one understood
A word of what was going on, they didn't have a clue
They couldn't understand your sense of humour like i do
You're much too kind
I smiled with murder on my mind
Yesterday, when i was mad
And quite prepared to give up everything
Admitting, i don't believe
In anyone's sincerity, and that's what's really got to me
Yesterday (yesterday yesterday)
Yesterday (yesterday yesterday) when i was mad

Child For A Day
I was a child
Who ran full of laughter
I was a child who lived for today
My eyes full of sunshine
My heart full of smiles
I was a child for a day
We were the children
Who sang in the morning
We were the children
Who laughed at the sun
Who listened to those who spoke with their wisdom
We are the ones we would say, but
Were getting older as time goes by
A little older with everyday
We were the children of yesterday
We are the men who worry of nothing
We are the men who fight without aim
We listen to no one, yet speak of our wisdom
We are the pawns in the game
Were getting older as time goes by
A little older with everyday
We were the children of yesterday
I was a child
Who ran full of laughter
I was a child who lived for today
My eyes full of sunshine
My heart full of smiles
I was a child for a day
Were getting older as time goes by
A little older with everyday
We were the children of yesterday

Remember Yesterday
Can you tell me why
It seems so hard to carry on
When you hear a voice
From long ago, so bittersweet
Even though I try, I can not
Read between the lines
You know I tried,
Oh, yes, I tried, whats wrong
Too late to turn back time
To look over my shoulder
Maybe one day ill return again
Remember yesterday
And think about tomorrow
But you have to live today
Oh, lonely yesterday
Dont leave me with the sorrow
Cause I have to live today
Every morning I awake
To see the newborn day
To carry on the flame
Until the end of time
Too late to turn back time
To look over my shoulder
Maybe one day ill return again
Remember yesterday
And think about tomorrow
But you have to live today
Oh, lonely yesterday
Dont leave me with the sorrow
Cause I have to live today
Oh, oh, oh, dont you step aside
And pretend about the future
Oh, oh, oh, never live a lie
Dont you know tomorrow never comes
Remember yesterday
And think about tomorrow
But you have to live today
Oh, lonely yesterday
Dont leave me with the sorrow
Cause I have to live today
Oh, oh, oh, dont you step aside
And pretend about the future
Oh, oh, oh, never live a lie
Dont you know tomorrow never comes

Yesterdays
(arkeen / james / billy / rose)
Yesterday, there was so many things
I was never told
Now that i'm startin' to learn
I feel i'm growing old
'cause yesterday's got nothin' for me
Old pictures that i'll always see
Time just fades the pages
In my book of memories
Prayers in my pocket
And no hand in destiny
I'll keep on movin' along
With no time to plant my feet
'cause yesterday's got nothin' for me
Old pictures that i'll always see
Some things could be better
If we'd all just let them be
Yesterday's got nothin' for me
Yesterday's got nothin' for me
Got nothin' for me
Yesterday, there was so many things
I was never shown
Suddenly this time i found
I'm on the streets and i'm all alone
Yesterday's got nothin' for me
Old pictures that i'll always see
I ain't got time to reminisce old novelties
Yesterday's got nothin' for me
Yesterday's got nothin' for me
Yesterday's got nothin' for me
Yesterday

The Land Of Christmas
(Carly Simon)
Take me into your hands
Make me into your prayer
Take me away to the land of Christmas
And dismiss my fear
Show me the way
You see I need a way to pass
through the pain
Breathe it and bear it and rise up again
Take me away to the land of Christmas
Where I can receive your kiss
Feel the strength in my heart
And wail like a baby
And sail through the storm
Be tender as Mary
With her newborn son
Is feeling small a very good thing?
Is feeling big really very small?
Take me away to the land of Christmas
Where I won't question your love at all
And when I kneel to you
It doesn't mean I'll get the message right
Take me away to the land of Christmas
Where I can't resist surrendering
And I'll wail like a baby
And sail through the storm
Be tender like Mary
With her newborn son
On Christmas morn
Tender as Mary
With her newborn son

Yesterday Is Gone
I'm sorry your situation
Has let you down
I know that things did not go as planned
'cause in this time you're feeling alone and sad
This is what you must understand
There is a way
Yesterday is gone
It's a new day
Yesterday is gone
Yesterday is gone
Yesterday is gone
My dear kay
You can't get nowhere
Staying at home and crying
You can't go on living in the past
The one thing constant is that there is always change
There is a way
Yesterday is gone
It's a new day
Yesterday is gone
Yesterday is gone
Yesterday is gone
My dear kay

The great rickshaw rider
he carries his newborn child
passengers on the backseat
a widower just cycles
no choice but his bike
father and rickshaw rider
sad thoughts of his dead wife
lovingly holding his child
he rides with his fate
a girl feels her fathers love
happy passengers arrived
a widower and newborn
on their bike for life

What If It Was Your Child
I saw a child yesterday sitting on a corner, tears
streaming down its face, and I stopped to ask
why and the child replied, “no one likes me,
they laugh at me and say I lie, but I don’t lie.”
I walk away after leaving a hug and some words
of encouragement, but as I walked home I said,
“thank God it was not my child.”
Today thousands starved to death because they
had no food. Some ones little girl, some ones
son, but my child ate well.
I turned off the television news and I said, “thank
God it was not my child.”
Every day it seems there is more tragedy, more
horrors, children dying, abused and killed, and it
seems nothing is done to change these things, but
my child is safe, warm and fed.
So when I go to sleep at night I pray and say,
“thank God it was not my child.”
This morning someone screamed at my child and
when I in anger started to reply I thought of Jesus on
the cross, his father watching as he suffered and died
at the hands of the very ones he came to save and I
walked away and prayed, “thank God it was not my
child.”
So my friends the next time you are upset over some
wrong you feel has been done to your child, think of
all the wrongs in the world and should you feel the
need for revenge remember, Jesus could have called
all the angels in Heaven for help but instead he cried,
“father forgive them they know not what they do.”
And God said, ” what if it was your child? ”
You, Yesterday and I
Yesterday wasn't just another day
There the earth moved on its axis
There the sun appeared on time
There the moon blinked at the sun
Yet yesterday wasn't another day
The passion we shared yesterday
Doesn't make it just another yesterday
The yesterday's warmth of your eyes
That traced all my nuances
The yesterday's breeze that touched me
After it touched you
The yesterday's redness of my lips
That you so fondly painted
The yesterday's voyage on sea of love
That we together dared
The yesterday's purple of love
That I found after you left
All these and more of yesterday
Still follow me today...
You see
Yesterday wasn't
Just another day!

Our Meeting Is No Accident
Please do not dismiss me.
Or the approach,
I have chosen to get closer.
I am not professional at this.
But I could not simply sit...
And watch what I could not resist,
Up and go away!
Not if I can delay its parting.
Please do not dismiss me.
There is something about us,
Too familiar to ignore.
Your eyes and walk...
And patterns of speech.
When I hear you talk...
It feels as if I have known this before.
And when you speak,
It soothes.
With a calmness that attracts!
Please do not dismiss me.
My wishes for someone like you...
Recognizes what you have,
And I'm wanting more of that!
To achieve a happiness...
I know that would make us,
Joyfully glad!
Please do not dismiss me.
At least...
Let us spend a moment,
To allow you to discover me.
We belong together!
'Why' and 'how' that is,
Who knows?
But our meeting is no accident.
And I know that for a fact,
Indeed.
This has happened purposely.
Please do not dismiss me.
Look into my eyes.
Can't you feel something inside of you...
That announces a 'connection' between us,
Has come to stay and has finally arrived?

All That Is Regarded Foolishness
With experiences lived.
And an aging process accepted,
One realizes upon reflection...
How much easier it is to judge.
Than it is to self-examine.
Not many are fortunate to survive,
Through life threatening diseases.
To then step aside with their eyes open wide,
With a freeing of themselves from insecurities left...
Hidden deep inside to confront and rid.
With experiences lived.
And an aging process accepted,
One realizes upon reflection...
How much easier it is to judge.
Than it is to self-examine.
But when that moment in time comes,
An accepting of one's flaws and blemishes are done.
With a leaving behind trivial nonsense.
And all that is regarded as foolishness,
Becomes less tolerated to quickly dismiss.
Yesterday and those mistakes made,
And all that is regarded as foolishness...
Becomes less tolerated to quickly dismiss.
Wishing for excuses and alibis to create,
Becomes less tolerated to quickly dismiss.
And all that is regarded as foolishness disappears.

Touch Me In The Morning
(ron miller/michael masser)
Touch me in the morning
Then just walk away
We dont have tomorrow
But we had yesterday
(hey!)
Wasnt it me who said that
Nothing goods gonna last forever?
And wasnt it me who said
Lets just be glad for the time together?
It mustve been hard to tell me
That youve given all you had to give
I can understand youre feeling that way
Everybodys got their life to live
Well, I can say goodbye in the cold morning light
But I cant watch love die in the warmth of the night
If Ive got to be strong
Dont you know I need to have tonight when youre gone?
till you go I need to lie here and think about
The last time that youll touch me in the morning
Then just close the door
Leave me as you found me, empty like before
(hey!)
Wasnt it yesterday
We used to laugh at the wind behind us?
Didnt we run away and hope
That time wouldnt try to find us (didnt we run)
Didnt we take each other
To a place where no ones ever been?
Yeah, I really need you near me tonight
cause youll never take me there again
Let me watch you go
With the sun in my eyes
Weve seen how love can grow
Now well see how it dies
If Ive got to be strong
Dont you know I need to have tonight when youre gone?
till you go I need to hold you until the time
Your hands reach out and touch me in the morning
(mornings where blue and gold and we could feel one another living)
Then just walk away
(we walked with a dream to hold and we could take what the world was giving)
We dont have tomorrow,
(theres no tomorrow here, theres only love and the time to chase it)
But we had yesterday
(but yesterdays gone my love, theres only now and its time to face it)
Touch me in the morning...

The Crys
Crys are various and many-to list, it would go like this: -
The cry of a newborn just come from Heaven
The cry of the mother's joy knowing her child is born well
She holds her child to her breast to let it know that she loves the child
The cry of the father's joy holding the child in his arms
The father kissing the child on its forehead so the child can feel its father
The cry of the wolf in the woods gathering the pack together
The bleat of a mother sheep after giving birth to her child
The cry of a young boy who fell on the ice while ice skating
He had hurt himself quite badly
The cry of a little girl who fell and scraped her knee
Of all the crys in the world these are just a few

Adam
A tree of blood soaks the morning
where the newborn woman groans.
Her voice leaves glass in the wound
and on the panes, a diagram of bone.
The coming light establishes and wins
white limits of a fable that forgets
the tumult of veins in flight
toward the dim cool of the apple.
Adam dreams in the fever of the clay
of a child who comes galloping
through the double pulse of his cheek.
But a dark other Adam is dreaming
a neuter moon of seedless stone
where the child of light will burn.

If Not All
mountain...
hawk,
tree,
newborn child,
dying old man,
fire in a clearing,
moonlight reflected through a window....
the prisoner,
a vagrant man,
the immigrant crossing the border....
the young woman giving birth,
starlight on wet grasses,
the prisoner walking
to his own execution....
an agnostic,
a heretic,
and a pilgrim....
a child of god,
a child of darkness....
which am i?
if not all!

Crooked Piece Of Time
Things got rough
Things got tough
Things got harder than hard
We were just trying to make a livin
In our back yard
We were born too late died to soon
Anxietys a terrible crime
If you dont come now dont come at all
cause its a crooked piece of time.
Its a crooked piece of time that we live in
A crooked piece of time
All in all and all in all
Its a crooked piece of time.
Yesterday morning an ill wind came
Blew your picture
Right out of the picture frame
Even blew the candle out
From underneath the flame
Yesterday morning an ill wind came.

Take A Giant Step
Words and music by
Gerry goffin and carole king
Though youve played at love and lost
And sorrows turned your heart to frost
I will melt your heart again.
Remember the feeling as a child
When you woke up and morning smiled
Its time you felt like you did then.
Theres just no percentage in remembering the past
Its time you learned to live again at last.
Come with me, leave yesterday behind
And take a giant step outside your mind.
You stare at me in disbelief
You say for you theres no relieve
But I swear Ill prove you wrong.
Dont stay in your lonely room
Just staring back in silent gloom.
Thats not where you belong
Come with me Ill take you where the tast of life is green
And everyday holds wonders to be seen.
Come with me, leave yesterday behind
And take a giant step outside your mind.
