I wanted to bring back that big, ballad type of music that we used to love so much. Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, when they first came out, that's what I grew up singing.

A legend and Diva, Whitney Houston
(Ode to Singer Whitney Houston)
Dedicating this poem
To you, Whitney
We all love your songs.
You're really a diva
Let your songs remain
In our mind and remain
Evergreen through time.
On February eleven,
Twenty twelve
You left us too early,
We never tire enough
Of all your songs.
You inspire us
With your lovely songs
And your beautiful voice.
Your songs
enrich our life,
motivate us,
make us happy.
We'll remember you
In all your songs
Let the world listens your songs
Always and forever.
Goodbye, Whitney,
A legend and diva,
May your soul be blessed by God
May you rest in Peace and in Joy,
May your songs be heard here and
In heaven.
Leaving a legacy behind
For all to hear and enjoy
Farewell to you, Whitney Houston,
We miss you,
Love you and
All your songs.

Sweet Whitney, Our Tears Roll
Breaking news, breaking mood
Angelic, Whitney Houston, has left the hood
Our tears roll, a voice so graceful
Whitney Houston, woman so beautiful
Awards so heaped, for she sang with delight
Words were woven, for love and light
We bow, will miss, your honeyed voice
You've left the mortals, to wander the skies.

Houston Is Hot Tonight
Bright lights, Houston is hot tonight
Arabian shieks and money, up in the sky
Now I dont mind, a bloodbath, when Ive got oil, on my breath
???????? eye to eye, Houston is hot tonight
My brain is tired of the wind
Chicago winters, just do me in
Theyve got a moonman, on the telephone
Project X?, hey Houston control
???????? eye to eye, Houston
Its like, whats happening?
Houston is hot tonight
Houston is hot tonight
Houston is hot tonight
Houston is hot tonight
Houston is hot tonight
Houston is hot tonight
Houston is hot tonight

Mariah Carey's Hideous Secret
Now promise you won’t tell anyone
(though what’s the fun of having a secret
if you can’t tell anyone? …)
Mariah Carey
was never a member of the
Mickey Mouse Club
when young, er, younger…
to which
some will say, wow, don’t you know a lot.
some will say, who’s Mariah Carey?
or, who the chic black rock chick cares…
or, smartipantsly, well you could guess couldn’t you.
or just, cool -
…and go on with what they’re doing.
or, didn’t know you had pub quizzes at your local.
or, good for her.
or dead straight like, I didn’t know it was still running,
I remember I was a member of…etc.
or something Village Jewish and TV-scripwriterly like
and were you still dressed when she whispered that?
while LA insiders say, silly girl,
all the big agents say
sign up for Mickey whatever your age
before you audition for Disney Corp's
music side
or it's something deadpan and very NY so you don’t know whether
it’s a joke or not, like
is product placement in poetry a growing market?
or give you that look that they’ve perfected
for sad losers and say
get a life man
it’s a poetry site and you spend your time
on that Minnie-quiz ha ha
how long did it take you to get that one right anyway
when you don’t even know the names of the other three

Houston
It's been three days, two hours
And a minute
Since she blasted off
Breaking every speed limit
As fast and far away from me
As she could get
Well, she said,
You'll straighten up one way or another
The Don't Mess With Texas bumper
Sticker on the bumper
Said it all as she drove off into the red sunset
She was right and I've learned my lesson
Here on out, I'm a man on a mission
Houston, we have a problem
If you can put a man on the moon
I'm sure there's something you can do
To help a love a little off course
Well, I'm losin' her,
Heaven knows I can't do that
I need her back
So come in Houston, we have a problem
She left with a suitcase full of resentment
She told me that I was afraid
Of commitment
She said don't call me baby, I'll call you
Well it's been days and I ain't
Heard nothing
Somebody's just got to do something
Houston, we have a problem
If you can put a man on the moon
I'm sure there's something you can do
To help a love a little off course
Well, I'm losin' her,
Heaven knows I can't do that
I need her back
So come in Houston, we have a problem
If I could do anything I would give everything
To make her come home
I only need a chance to say if
I could find a way
To let her know, come in
Houston, we have a problem
If you can put a man on the moon
I'm sure there's something you can do
To help a love a little off course
I'm losin' her, heaven knows I can't do that
I need her back
So come in Houston, we have a problem
We have a problem

The Sound of Music
Everyone likes music
and has a favourite song
a tune to brighten the mood
when the day has been long.
Some people like Classical
Beethoven chills them out
whilst others like their Rock
so they can shake their heads about.
A record may bring back memories
it can bring a smile to the face
the music can return you to the past
for a while your back in that place.
Words of a song can mean something
as if they were written just for you
but while they can make you feel happy
others can turn your mood sad and blue.
There's music to lift the spirits
and sounds to bring you down
some folk get turned on by Heavy Metal
but some love to listen to Tamla Motown.
But everyone likes some kind of music
no matter what type that may be
myself I love the mighty Led Zeppelin,
The Beatles, The Stones, and The Free!

Against All Odds
Duet with mariah carey
Shane:
How can i just let you walk away,
Just let you leave without a trace,
When i'm standing taking every breath,
With you, ooohhh,
You're the only one who really knew me,
At all.
Mariah:
How can you just walk away from me,
When all i can do is watch you leave,
Cause we shared the laughter and the pain,
And even shared the tears,
You're the only one who really knew me at all.
So take a look at me now,
There's just an empty space,
There's nothing left here to remind me,
Just the memory of your face,
So take a look at me now,
There's just an empty space,
If you're coming back to me it's against all odds,
And that's what i've got to face.
Mark:
I wish i could just make you turn around,
Turn around and see me cry,
There's so much i need to say to you,
So many reasons why,
You're the only one who really knew me at all.
Mariah:
So take a look at me now,
There's just an empty space,
There's nothing left here to remind me,
Just the memory of your face,
So take a look at me now,
So there's just an empty space,
But to wait for you is all i can do,
When that's what i've got to face.
Take a good look at me now,
Cause i'll be standing here,
(mark: standing here)
And you coming back to me is against all odds,
And that's the chance i've got to take.
Westlife:
Got to take
Got to take
Mariah:
Ooh
Take a look at me now
Westlife:
Take a look at me now.

Hush goes the crowd
(The music plays, the stage is lit, the crowd come in and a man starts to sing)
Hush goes the crowd,
While I sing this sad love ballad,
The story of my heart,
And I continue singing,
One by one,
The leave the theatre,
And soon I’m left alone,
Singing this ballad,
While I weep before every word,
From daybreak to midnight,
From spring till to winter,
I sing this melancholy filled ballad,
Murmuring these words,
As my throat dry’s,
(The man is on his knees)
Now in a empty theatre,
This song still plays,
Even though I’m alone,
My speech does not stop,
And from a sad ballad,
This song his turned into screams,
Shattering through,
Deafening every living being,
But it isn’t even heard,
No not even listened to,
By the muse of this song,
If only she heard my voice,
If only she would come to this theatre,
(Sound of weeping, tears hit the stage floor; the light slowly fades, till there is only silence and darkness)
Then the Hong is hit,
And I awake to sing again,
The same old lyrics,
There is a new audience in the seats,
But she is not here,
She will never be,
Where she is,
Is far away,
(The music plays again and he starts to sing then hush say’s the crowd)
