On reaching the place where the Indians had surprised us, we found the bodies of the three men whom they had killed and scalped, and literally cut into pieces.

Power And Glory
Christopher Columbus discovered America
Found he had a cornucopia
Gave love to the indians, they gave it back
A pow woo in the teepee is where it's at
I want to dance with you
The indian fought with his arrow and bow
Till General Custer lost to Sitting Bull
Scalped all day and scalped all night
Give me fire water, gonna buy me a wife
I want to dance with you
When your people first moved to our block
Our ancestors met with culture shock
Two different monkees from two different trees
Come on let's stop our fightin' and come dance with me
I want to dance with you

If You Can't Leave It Be, Might As Well Make It Bleed
What you found so upset you
Never saw it coming did you
Its easy to be surprised
With both your eyes sewn closed
Handled with great precision
Another faultless execution
Youre the subject of this exhibition
A willing cadaver, a willing cadaver
Scalped, saturated, made whole again
These cutes are leaving creases
Trace the scars, fit the pieces
Tell youre story, you dont need to say a word
Call off the cavalry
Cant save a wretch like me
Clean this with kerosene
If you cant leave it be, might as well make it bleed
Scalped, saturated, made whole again
Your wires are frayed, cant fire right
You look better when out of sight
You were not made to stand a fight
Theres something better wrong with you
Your wires are frayed, cant fire right
You look better when out of sight
You were not made to fire right
Theres something better wrong with you
Your pulse is anemic, youre tired of the fire
Youre bruising too easily, and falling behind
And no one is waiting for you
And no one is waiting for you
And no one is waiting for you
And no one is waiting
And no one is waiting for you
For you, for you
Call off the quarantine
Cant save the rest for me
Clean this with kerosene
If you cant leave it be, might as well make it bleed
Scalped, saturated, made whole again
Your wires are frayed, cant fire right
You look better when out of sight
You were not made to stand a fight
Theres something better wrong with you

When I came there I found all my family gone, for the Indians had killed five people in the winter near that place, which frightened my wife and family away to Roanoke about 35 miles nearer in among the inhabitants, which I was informed of by an old man I met near the place.

Bars Fight
August, twas the twenty-fifth,
Seventeen houndred forty-six,
The Indians did in ambush lay,
Some very valiant men to slay
Twas nigh unto Sam Dickinson's mill,
The Indians there five men did kill.
The names of whom I'll not leave out,
Samuel Allen like a hero foute,
And though he was so brave and bold,
His face no more shall we behold.
Eleazer Hawks was killed outright,
Before he had time to fight,
Before he did the Indians see,
Was shot and killed immediately.
Oliver Amsden he was slain,
Which caused his friends much grief pain.
Simeon Amsden they found dead
Not many rods from Oliver's head.
Adonijah Gillett, we do hear,
Did lose his life which was so dear.
John Sadler fled across the water,
And thus escaped the dreadful slaughter.
Eunice Allen see the Indians comeing
And hoped to save herself by running:
And had not her petticoats stopt her,
The awful creatures had not cotched her,
Not tommyhawked her on the head,
And left her on the ground for dead.
Young Samuel Allen, Oh! lack-a-day!
Was taken and carried to Canada.

We’re Indians First and Lastly!
We’re Indians firstly!
And that’s the way, we’re known all o’er the globe;
And that is what we tell the world around;
This is our primary identity.
We’re Indians firstly!
We may belong to any state by birth;
Then come our language, creed, community;
We’re Indians primarily!
We’re Indians firstly!
United are we by the tricolor;
The soil is one, though states be many;
We’re Indians basically!
We’re proud of our rich our Indian heritage;
Our thirst is quenched by rivers of India;
Our hunger is appeased by crops grown here;
We’re Indians first and ultimately!
Let none dare try to sow seeds of discord;
The Indian’s free to live in any state;
When asked, let always be our reply,
‘We’re Indians firstly!
God gave one sun and moon to all of us;
We live under the sky, our common roof;
We enjoy freedom got by same ‘Struggle’!
We’re Indians all, firstly!
We’re Indians firstly!
Our patriotism is Indianness;
Our pride’s in being born as Indians;
We’re Indians first and lastly!
All Indians are our brothers and sisters;
We love our fellowmen as our brethren;
Same blood of oneness flows within us all;
We’re Indians first, always, ultimately!
‘Jai Hind! Jai Bharat! Jai bharatiya! Jai bharatvaasi!

A Place To Call My Own
And Ive nearly found a place to call my own
Waking gently feel her presence near
Devil shattered, warmth is everywhere
I am only a child of hers, my guardian goddess
Now, Im reaching my journeys end inside her womb
And I think Ive found a place to call my own

Jennifers Body
I know it, I can feel it
Well, I know it enough to believe it
And I know it, I cant see it
But I know it enough to believe it
Bitter you, bitter me
My better half has bitten me
Bitter you, bitter me
Sleeping with my enemy
Myself
Myself
The pieces of jennifers body
Found pieces of jennifers body
Found pieces of jennifers body
Just relax, just relax, just go to sleep
Just relax, just relax, just go to sleep
Youre hungry, but Im starving
He cuts you down from the tree
He keeps you in a box by the bed
Alive, but just barely
He said, Im your lover, Im your friend
Im pure and he hits me again
With a bullet, number one, kill the family, save the son
Himself
Himself
The pieces of jennifers body
Found pieces of jennifers body
Found pieces of jennifers body
Just relax, just relax, just go to sleep
Just relax, just relax, just go to sleep

Heart In Pieces
Only you can touch me with your dark eyes
With a look that burns like fire through the lonely night.
Sometimes I run, but I can never hide
From the pieces of my heart that fall like rain from the sky.
When you hear the thunder,
When you hear the sound of a mountain crashing down,
Its just my heart in pieces.
When I feel the hunger,
When Im reaching out with a hundred thousand hands,
Its my heart in pieces.
No one cuts through my soul like you can.
Im naked to the bone beside your empty hand.
I see your face and I remember.
Im a prisoner of your fate,
Im a loser in the race.
When you hear the thunder,
When you hear the sounds of a mountain crashing down,
Its just my heart in pieces.
When I feel the hunger,
When Im reaching out with a hundred thousand hands,
Its my heart in pieces.
I walk the fine line
Between fire and the ice.
The memory lives on.
Theres always something to remind me.
Every teardrop falling
When your voice keeps calling.
[chorus repeats until fade.]

Body Architects
i'm starting from scratch
i'm putting the pieces together
day by day.. one by one.. i'm the only one
my surroundings affect the structure.. of my state of mind
just when you think everything is fine
the foundation cracks... in a fraction of time
so look in the mirror.. it doesn't lie
we... we all forget
that we're the architects of the bodies we inhabit
we... we all forget
that we're the architects of the bodies we inhabit
i skipped the school of the learned for the... majority
but i figured it out the hard way.. my own way.. the only way
and it made me stronger... bigger than the rest
i'm the architect that knows my body best
we... we all forget
that we're the architects of the bodies we inhabit
we... we all forget
that we're the architects of the bodies we inhabit
we rock the party that rocks the body!!
we... we all forget
that we're the architects of the bodies we inhabit
we... we all forget
that we're the architects of the bodies we inhabit

Higher Ground
This song appears on two albums, and was first released on the higher ground album, and has also been released on the john denver collection - rocky mountain high album.
There are those who can live
With the things they dont believe in
They are giving up their lives
For something that is less than it can be
Some have longed for a home
In a place of inspiration
Some will find the emptiness inside
By giving it all for the things that they believe
They believe
Maybe its just a dream in me
Maybe its just my style
Maybe its juat the freedom that Ive found
Given the possibility
Of living up to the dream in me
You know Ill be reaching for higher ground
I will stand on my own
I will live up to the vision
I will trust in what I feel
Id follow my heart until it brings me home
Brings me home
Maybe its just a dream in me
Maybe its just my style
Maybe its juat the freedom that Ive found
Given the possibility
Of living up to the dream in me
You know Ill be reaching for higher ground
Keep me through the night
Lead me to the light
Teach me the magic of wonder
Give me the spirit to fly
Maybe its just a dream in me
Maybe its just my style
Maybe its juat the freedom that Ive found
Given the possibility
Of living up to the dream in me
You know Ill be reaching for higher ground
Maybe its just a dream in me
Maybe its just my style
Maybe its juat the freedom that Ive found
Given the possibility
Of living up to the dream in me
You know Ill be reaching for higher ground

Till the shooting ended
The fine press of binoculars against eye,
speech apparatus against mouth,
bodies camouflaged against the ground
made burning stars
fall from the sky.
Projectiles from G-5 howitzer canons
blasting from more that forty kilometres away
crossed the sky
in parabolas adjusted fine
and smashed enemy tank and armoured car
to pieces.
Flames throwing their tongues
orange-red to the sky,
enemy weapons pierced,
a commander with cigar in his hand bended,
enemy soldiers of whom
intestines rained down in pieces
in a moment where everybody
met the maker
and pools of red blood
and shot-out scrap
was all that marked the place of slaughtering.
l’Envoi
Till the shooting ended,
men stopped dying,
when too many were killed and pierced
and a war on the backside
of Africa was lost
and even the Russians knew
to forget about any victory
and the Cubans returned to Cuba
and never again Fidel Castro
could try and clench his fist round Africa.

Its Like Reaching For The Moon
Sherman / lewis / marqusee
Its like reaching for the moon
Its like reaching for the sun
Its like reaching for the stars
Reaching for you
Youre so far above me
How can I expect than an angel to
Its so refined as you are
Its like flying without wings
Playing fiddle without strings
And a million other things
No one can do
No, my hopes are slender
In my secret heart I pray youll surrender soon
No, its like reaching for the moon

It Surprised Us All
Big rivers and small rivers,
The deadly raid surprised us all! !
But it is time for us to move ahead,
Because many are already dead and gone!
At 'München-Airport',
She was rich down there and all over!
But i thank you for being here with me tonight,
And like the blues-boy and the blues-girl.
My people want to know more about this raid;
Because, they killed him anf one of his wives!
And this deadly raid surprised us all.

Coming Down In Pieces
I was way off track from start
I judged everything by my damned heart
I walked unprotected 'gainst the blows
How was I suppose to really know
When you think you know what's the right thing to do
And you find you just don't have a clue
And when things turn out to be not what they seemed
You are caught walking barefoot on glass
With your head firmly stuck up your ass
I was coming down in pieces you bet I was coming down
What goes up believe me surely must hit hard the ground
I was coming down in pieces yet I was sound enough to say
I'm the only one to blame, yeah, so get out of my damn f*ckin' way
I scratched my walls 'till my fingers bled
I tried to get it all out of my f*ckin' head
I was really deep down for quite some time
It took quite a while to leave it all behind
When it hits ya' and you don't think that you'll make it through
And the times when a hell will stick to ya' like glue
And it seems very effort is destined to fail
You'll be surprised how you sh*t you can take
Before you give it in and you start to break
I was coming down in pieces...
When you think you know...
Now I know should I go there again
To hit the bottom don't need to mean the end
I was coming down in pieces...

A gate called Beautiful
There is a gate called Beautiful
from which they heard the cripple's call
and silver and gold could never repay
the healing that he received that day.
'Look at us', to him Peter and John said
and gave not money but healing instead.
Reaching out to him they took his hand
and the crippled man began to stand.
Then walking and leaping he was healed
and the mighty power of Jesus' was revealed.
******
I've found a place even more beautiful
a place where everyone can come and call.
To buy without money for the price was paid
when the awfulness of sin on Jesus was laid.
For on a cross at that place called Calvary
the love of God is shown for us all to see.
I came to that cross all crippled with sin
and th blood of Jesus washcleansed me within.
Reaching out to me He took my hand
and this crippled man's now able to stand.
Based on Acts 3: 1-10
