I Write The Songs
Ive been alive forever,
And I wrote the very first song.
I put the words and the melodies together,
I am music,
And I write the songs.
I write the songs that make the whole world sing.
I write the songs of love and special thing s.
I write the songs that make the young girls cry.
I write the songs, I write the songs.
My home lies deep within you,
And Ive got my own place in your sole.
Now, when I look out through your eyes,
Im youg again, even though Im very old.
Chorus
Oh my music makes you dance
And gives your spirit to take a chance,
And I wrote some rock n roll so you can move.
Music fills your heart,
Well, thats a real fine place to start.
Its from me its for you,
Its from you, its from me,
Its a world wide symphony.
Chorus
I am music, and I write the songs.

Pop Singer
Never wanted to be no pop singer,
Never wanted to write no pop songs.
Never had no weird hair to get my songs over.
Never wanted to hang out after the show.

Now, who would want to look into these eyes?
Just want to make it real - good, bad or indifferent.

A Heavy Pen
I suppose the worldly way
to be bad is to be good
the foul spitting rappers
keep me out of Hollywood
I wish not
to go there
to spend my earnings
on someone who would care
I write today
with a heavy pen
someday soon, hoping to be famous
simply don't know when
so I sip my wine
in my freshly painted den
and write again, write again
nonsensically
with my heavy pen

I don't dream songs. I'm more apt to write dreams down and then to be able to interpret them into a song. I also tend to get up and write prose in the morning from which will come songs.

My songs are very honest about a relationship that didn’t survive. I only write songs when there is a problem that I can’t get through myself. I write a song about it to put myself past it.

If something's biting me I hold it in because that's the kind of person I am. Then it comes out in songs. Things build up inside of me and I'll write three songs in a weekend. It's a release. I don't choose what to write about. It's just there.

My favorite music to sing would be my own songs, my original songs, just because I know them, you know I write the tunes, so my favorite songs are the newest ones that I write. That's what I like to sing the most, because it means something, it's real, it comes from me.

Either you write songs or you don't. And if you do write songs like I do, I think there's a natural desire to want to make records.

Rolling Down The Hills
(carly simon)
People who have bad times
Write hard luck songs
But when their days are green
They think about love
Sunshine, flowers in a garden
Did I bump you sir?
Im beggin your pardon
Have you seen such a day?
Lets begin it by startin -
And rollin down the hills with me.
People who have short hair
Write short hair songs
But when their hair gets long
They think about winding it around in daisy chains
Waitin for the showers
Just to wash it in the rain
Have you seen such hair?
Well let the wind play -
As youre rollin down the hills with me
People who have no hills
Write songs about plains
But if thats not what you want to do
Well you can jump aboard a bus
Or boat or wooden canoe
I know just the mountain
Thats been waitin for you
Too write songs about the peaks
And the beautiful views -
As youre rollin down the hills with me.

Timeless Songs
I wish to write more timeless songs
that have the power to wake the moon
and draw her from the skies;
that have the strength to stir the stars,
unveil their evening sparks.
I wish to write more timeless songs
that have the courage to stop the sea
from singing lullaby's;
that have the strength to stir the wind,
unveil her sweet disguise.
I wish to write more timeless songs
to bring me back to you;
to give me strength to stir my soul,
and make my dreams come true.

Certain songs by hearing the rhythm, it tells you that is either a love song or you might be heartbroken or the songs give you the vibes and you just know that certain songs are militant that you have to write.

I like 'Bewitched' off the first album because it's one of the happiest songs I've ever written and, as any writer will tell you, happy songs are a million times more difficult to write than sad songs.

It can get a little costly if you try and leave it until then to write songs. But you're writing all the time. You're collecting songs. I've had songs that have been collected over a two-year period for my next record.

I, Who
I, who write verse every day,
rather that I could take pain away.
I'd put down the pen without a thought
and trade it away for the pain that was brought
to you.
I, who write songs every day,
rather that I could have you say
'I'm well, I'm well. I'm good again.'
I'd give it all up, these songs, this pen
for you.

Whatever Comes To Mind
Singers sing
their love songs,
poets write
romantic poetry,
but I just sit and write
whatever comes to mind.
I don’t write
to any classification
or any given theme.
All I do is sit and write
whatever comes to mind.
I have no chosen subject,
nor any chosen form.
I just sit and write
whatever comes to mind.

How Do You Write Poetry
There is a question I am often asked,
of which I have no answer for at all.
The question is a simple one,
how do you write poetry?
To be honest I haven’t got a clue.
With me the words just trickle out
one after the other,
if they rhyme that is great
and if they don’t, I just scratch my head.
I cannot tell anyone how to write,
for me it’s just a natural thing.
I write almost everything,
novels, short stories, poems and songs.
I have even written a couple of plays,
but that was a long, long time ago.
However to tell anyone how to write,
I would not know where to begin.
The answer I give to the question is simple;
write whatever you like good or bad.
It’s yours and be proud of it
no matter what anyone else has to say.
The more you write the better you will get.
However, the most important thing
that you should always remember and that is
that you write, write, and write!

Write Away
You need love, write a letter, you need love write away
Get it down, youll feel better, send it now, write away
Hey cinderella, did you need that other fella?
On the wrong side of midnight your defences slipped away
You need attention, so I think its worth a mention
That if I can deliver
Well there wouldnt be no heavy price to pay
You need love, write a letter, you need love write away
Get it down, youll feel better, send it now, write away
You need love, write a letter
You need love write away
If you need to feel better, do it now, now, now write away
