Asean is obviously a very important association for us. Over the past 30 years Asean has made great strides in regional cooperation covering a number of areas, although recently it has been under strain because of the financial crisis and other challenges.

My own perception is that there are two tiers of countries, one, the original ASEAN, and then the new members. The new members are in various stages of development.

There are perhaps opportunities for greater political cooperation, at least more cooperation than exists now. But there can be no cooperation in the field because every situation is different.

International cooperation, multilateralism is indispensable.
Then the administration tied it in to the regional dispute between Israel and its enemies, as if that's about international terrorism. No, it's not.

Achievements
Most people think of achievements
in only monetary terms,
but achievements have nothing to do with money.
They are the goals in life
that our hearts desire.
Someone in a wheelchair enters a marathon
and when they cross the finishing line,
they have achieved something for themselves,
proving they can do anything
if they really want to try.
When we put pen to paper
and finish whatever we are about to write.
We have achieved something
no one can ever take away.
Each day we set ourselves
little goals to achieve
and when we have done them,
we move on to another one.

On this day, Christians reflect on their faith and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. This occasion inspires families and communities to come together, share what they have, and give back to those less fortunate. May we take this time to reflect on our many blessings, and remind our loved ones how much they mean to us.

Reflections
As each year begins to close,
we reflect over the passing one
remembering the highlights
along with the year’s woes.
How things made us laugh
and the others that made us cry
the whole mixed bag
that we call a year gone by.
We look forward to the next
with eager expectations
reflecting on how we can
make more dreams come true
and all the time hoping that sadness
will miss our door.
Of making new friends to fill the gaps
where old ones have faded away.
All this we do as we reflect
on the passing of another year.
