That's something I learned in art school. I studied graphic design in Germany, and my professor emphasized the responsibility that designers and illustrators have towards the people they create things for.

Mr. John Flansburgh: "Hey, this is John of They Might Be Giants. You might know me better as one of the guys from They Might Be Giants. You know, chemistry is like a relationship and that's why when you're looking for web design, go to the best: The Chopping Block. You might not know it, but over 50% of web designers are sleepy and cranky. I've been amazed at how often those outside the discipline of design assume that what designers do is decoration. Good design is problem solving.

Well, I never studied design and I went to art school to study art, you know, sculpture and things like that, and ended up making things like sculpture and started making chairs and jewelry together and that's how I started.

There's this very vulnerable planet of ours with finite resources. Architects and designers have, I think, a fair responsibility for conserving energy and materials, and making things durable.

The School Where I Studied
I passed by the school where I studied as a boy
and said in my heart: here I learned certain things
and didn't learn others. All my life I have loved in vain
the things I didn't learn. I am filled with knowledge,
I know all about the flowering of the tree of knowledge,
the shape of its leaves, the function of its root system, its pests and parasites.
I'm an expert on the botany of good and evil,
I'm still studying it, I'll go on studying till the day I die.
I stood near the school building and looked in. This is the room
where we sat and learned. The windows of a classroom always open
to the future, but in our innocence we thought it was only landscape
we were seeing from the window.
The schoolyard was narrow, paved with large stones.
I remember the brief tumult of the two of us
near the rickety steps, the tumult
that was the beginning of a first great love.
Now it outlives us, as if in a museum,
like everything else in Jerusalem.

Personally, I'd never seen a graphic novel. I knew they existed because friends of mine like Jonathan Ross collect them and some very literate and intelligent people really rate the graphic novel as a form.

The things I learned from the army - and I think it was a lesson for life - was how to work in unison with other people. How to take responsibility.
I remind everyone: Whether you school them at home or send them to school, you as a parent have the responsibility to make sure they learn and behave. Teachers and principals may help, but parents are the ones who must accept responsibility.

Big Power
Everyone have a dreaming
A dreaming to be a scientist
A scientist which will be memorized all the time
All the time and even until come the doomsday
Only faith which will create ourselve to get big power
Only science which will create ourselve to get big power
Only patiently which will create ourselve to get big power
Only honestly which will create ourselve to get big power
Hi, Mr. President
Hi, Prime Minister
Hi, Ministers
Hi, Judges
Remember every big power have big responsibility
You must implementate it well, don't lie yourselve, your family and your people
Remember every big power have big responsibility
You must responsible to God who creates the earth and the sky.

A student's Diary
At the age of six we begin elementary
We had this fear or anxiety
When e reach the teenage years we
started secondary
And ended it with difficulty
We studied in a private school
Think it is very cool
We obeyed every school rule
And top in the honor roll
We studied very hard
Got high marks in our card
We maintain it, we took guard
Learning in high school is truly an art
So we entered a new stage
In college, we are now engage
In logic thinking towards new age
Ideas have flied like a bird out of its cage.

First Year University Expereinces
I learned why it is not wise to skip class often
I learned that skipping homework in university is not the same as skipping homework in high school
I learned what it feels like to be awake for over 2 days
I learned how to smoke pot from a bong
I learned how to compose an essay the day before it's due
I learned that the Freshman 15 is no joke
I learned how to do laundry
I learned to pretend to be happy
I learned to multitask
I learned to be more sociable
I learned why my parents and teachers warned me about the difficulty of university
I learned that failing is expensive
I learned small things, like freshly washed bed sheets, make me happy
I learned to lie
I learned how expensive alcohol is
I learned what it feels like to be a failure
I type this rant while skipping my business ethics class as I further delay the composition of my psychology term paper

Billy
Billy was a good friend of mine
We grew up together ever since we were nine
We went to school, he was my best friend
And I thought our friendship would never end
In high school he played football
And me, I didnt do anything at all
He made touch-downs, while I played pool
And no one could figure out which one of us was the fool
Then we both went to collage
He studied medicine while I studied foliage
He got as and I got ds
He was going for his ph.d.
Then I decided to drop out
Things were getting a little too hot
Billy stayed there, became an intern and then a doctor
Then war broke out and he had to go
But not me, I was mentally unfit, or so they say, so, so
When he came back, he wasnt quite the same
His nerves were shot, but not me
Last time I saw him, I couldnt take it anymore
He wasnt the billy I knew, it was like talking to a door
Billy was a friend of mine
I grew up with him ever since I was nine
We went together through school
And now I often wonder, which one of us was the fool

In School
in school,
when i saw you
i intuited i have found
my lost world in you
i wish i could act
to be appreciated
by you in school.
in school,
it would be too sad
to narrate the ordeal
i have been through
i wonder if its best
i had met you
in the school.
in school,
though i had not said it
there has been so many ways
that i have shown it
my actions had done
whatever i wanted to say
at school.
in school,
i never thought
being in love
could take me to madness
well, it is better than
leaving me in sadness
in the school.
in school,
when i approached you
i knew i was silly
it was because
suddenly,
i forgot who i was
in school
in school,
why do you sneer
when i am near
it really breaks me
just tell me what to do
to get a room from you
in and out of school.
in school,
sometimes though it is hard
i guess i must let go
some things i wish to have
though good things also
could be found elsewhere
as it has been in school.

Simple Words, And Quietness!
i used to write
with exploding images,
and intricate rhymes.
mapping the grand design
of passion unfolding.
but now i've reached a place
of quietness, and simple words,
raw honesty, and tiny flames...
and i'm at peace with myself.
i know that all war is wrong,
that hunger and homelessness
are a scourge, the result
of our own actions.
and i feel deeply the responsibility
to share in the suffering
of one and all.
i dont blame anything on God,
we havent even touched
what God is with our concepts.
dont blame anything on politicians,
we put them there
out of our own apathetic greed.
i dont blame lonliness on lovers,
you cant know love
without having been lonely.
age brings with it a deep sense
of mortality, and of the value
of each fleeting moment.
it's all too easy to spend
your life fighting and working
for things that have no lasting value...
i know, i've been there.
i learned to look in the mirror,
and really see myself.
learned to look at myself,
and see all others.
i've taken responsibility for
my thoughts and desires,
as well as my actions...
so i have no right to judge.
compassion, and giving...
celebrate the moment.
what i dont know
i dont have to know...
i have enough faith
to keep walking.
simple words, and quietness!
