Men are recognizing that they have been forced to conform to a very narrow and rather two-dimensional picture of maleness and manhood that they have never had the freedom to question.

Lonely Boy-Man Alone
Lonely Boy facing his first challenges
Unsure what they are
Sensing the threat from them
But not recognizing them
for what they are.
Simply challenges
to his resourcefullness.
Lonely boy
Upset and frightened by the challenges
That are the steps toward manhood.
The fables read to him so far
Said nothing to him about the obstacle spar
To manhood.
Lonely Boy
Fortunately he understands
That it is O.K. to ask for help
With the understanding of the obstacle course
To manhood.

And What About Freedom?
sad indeed,
there are other freedoms still
freedom from having no ideas, from this dryness,
freedom from having you
as a poet on forced wit and half-cooked cleverness
freedom from a reader
who has nothing to offer
except his own loneliness
his having nothing to do
freedom from long bored
to death
freedom from having nothing
to say and comment
freedom from this feeling of emptiness
this bigotry
this indigestion of dumb thoughts
freedom from impertinence, immateriality, irrelevance,
freedom from thinking about freedom
freedom from freedom itself
there are more
freedom from pain
is useless now
that you are dead.

Recognizing Quebec as being different, recognizing our history, recognizing our identity, has never meant a weakening of Quebec and has never been a threat to national unity.

Law Is Freedom
Law is freedom
Not a kind of fake made freedom
Or an abusive wild freedom
Not a narrow minded follower
Or blurred ruler
Law is freedom
A freedom that obeyed
With full consciousness and responsibility
A freedom to do and to not do
And know the consequences
Law is freedom
A solid freedom
Not a tool of terror
A freedom to live
Not to conquer it

Eye Of The Storm
[DADDY X]
Fire It Up.
The next chapter.
(Yup)
Legalize freedom,
Free your mind.
(Forecast says that high winds are blowin.)
Higher consciousness.
(Dark clouds up ahead, we kept rollin.)
You create your own reality.
(Some times you gotta live life knowin.)
Stoney vibrations.
(Your in the eye of the storm.)
Seek Truth
Observe Nature
Educate Yourself
(Refuse to conform.)
Find your real history.
(Deviate from the norm.)
Non-conformity,
Anarchy.
(Refuse to conform.)
Walk your own walk.
Every moment is a gift.
(Forecast says that high winds are blowin.)
Create your own reality.
(Dark clouds up ahead, we kept rollin.)
Live while u live.
(Some times you gotta live life knowin.)
Freedom is a state of mind.
(Your in the eye of the storm.)
Freedom is a state of mind.
(Refuse to conform.)
Non-conformity,
(Deviate from the norm.)
Individuality,
Legalize freedom,
(Refuse to conform.)
Legalize freedom,
Creation,
(Your in the eye of the storm.)
Legalization,
Legalization.

The Edge Of Beauty...
wherein lies the edge of beauty?
of true expression?
be there more truth
in a picture of fruit....
or a picture of the eyes
of a starving child?
be there more love
in an ancient picture of Jesus,
or the picture of an addict,
shaking on a stoop?
be there more reality
in numbed words carefully written,
or in the story of the evicted family,
penned in raw blood?
be there more beauty
in a picture of supposed angels,
or in a tasteful nude?
be there more freedom
in a picture of the revolution,
or in a photo of freedom's protesters,
being beaten by cops?
be there more justice
in the books you burned,
or in the ones you actually read?
be there more spirituality
in the religious head turned,
or in the sensual bathed in awe?
be there more god in the silent follower,
or in the one who dares to speak?

No poetry after Auschwitz and Nagasaki
Conclusion escapes me
slinking away like someone who witnessed
a Mafia murder
and ending up nowhere:
the mined no-man's-land of ideas
where lights swallow the moon
like Viagra.
My shadow: a one-dimensional
even-more-substanceless me
a peninsula
not of regret
but of grief.
Freedom is meaningless
when you're dead
because you are freer
than freedom.

Warrior
Wasnt there a time
When no one lived in pain
Zero down to zero
But a warrior
The innocence of birth
The power of the earth
Out of all thats good
Comes a warrior
Time - is it you who changes minds
Suing us - for something weve not done
Stealing the heroes - all the guiding lights, to find the way
Justice has been gone
To pieces for so long
Some killers call themselves
A warrior
Warriors with no pride
Committing suicide
The picture of a man
Thats your warrior
cause hes a warrior
Yes, hes a warrior
He fights for peace and freedom
cause hes a warrior
Yes, hes a warrior
He fights for peace and freedom
Think about the time
Where manhood promised pride
And history was made
Just by warriors
We have to face the world
And hope that someones heard
Who could replace a man
Like the warrior
cause hes a warrior
Yes, hes a warrior
He fights for peace and freedom
cause hes a warrior
Yes, hes a warrior
He fights for peace and freedom
Time - is it you who changes minds
Suing us - for something weve not done
Stealing the heroes - all the guiding lights, to find the way
cause hes a warrior
Yes, hes a warrior
He fights for peace and freedom
cause hes a warrior
Yes, hes a warrior
He fights for peace and freedom
cause hes a warrior..........

Land of the Free (c) 3-29-08
Land of the Free home of the brave
Land of disease home of the slave
Freedom of religion Freedom of speech
Freedom of press and freedom to breach
Freedom to steal freedom to take
Freedom to carry guns and Freedom to break
The laws of the man and the laws of the word
Freedom from peace but to still use the bird
The only home of brave and Land of the Free
The land who rules based off democracy
Freedom to starve and Freedom to be poor
Freedom to break and enter someone’s door
Freedom to lay off workers and close off jobs
Freedom to take what they want and to rob
Freedom of abortion Freedom of extortion
Freedom to own land and give everyone their portion
Freedom for action by any means necessary
But what their picture of that can really be scary
Freedom to wage war without our consent for our hours to be spent
Freedom to take our money then make us pay rent
Land of the prospering riches and of those who don’t care for the
People who live in the FREE old America

For Freedom... Gone Fishin
For the intangible concept of Freedom
There has been many a loss of life.
In the name of her script for Freedom,
I was forced to lose my wife.
T'was her sad solution
For her personal evolution
Freedom was her revolution
From loving marital institution.
In conflicts concerning Freedom
This struggle really vexes
For I have been re-called to join
The Battle of The Sexes.
Within this forced fed Freedom
There's an aspect that I hate,
Having in common with my children
Of finding someone to date.
There's many an online dating site
Floating upon the shining Cyber-sea...
With many a lovely lady whose
Bait is waiting just for me.
I sniff and write to ladies lines...
Feeling I'd be quite their catch
Only to find in sad despair that
They think we're no match.
Swimming and searching for the line,
To be hooked and then give my all.
But, as I keep getting thrown back,
I think maybe I am just too small.
In the matter of physical chemistry
I shrug saying, 'what the heck'...
Most gals don't look like enchanted Fiona
And, I don't think that I look like Shrek.
But, when her lure dances by my way
To her invite I shall not refuse it.
Just because I have my Freedom
I am more than willing to lose it.

Still Uncertain
There are times in your life
When the puzzle pieces start to fit together
You think you understand
Can see part of the big picture
Unless
The picture changes
And something alters it
All together
There are times in your life
When you start to see
Dots forming lines
Lines coming together
Forming a picture
Unless
The picture changes
And something alters it
All together
Universes of understanding existing in
Bigger Universes
You knew the world was flat
Until
It wasn't
My understanding is so limited
I'm a slave to the comprehension of my experience
Of what I can understand
Unless
The understanding
Changes
Most of the time
It's a really strong 'maybe'
With the hope of a possibility
Some of the time
It's a definite 'no'
Though there may be hope
For a better clue
At
Times
It's tough
When all you have to go by
Is a really strong hunch
There are millions of times you...
Second
And
Third
Guess yourself
Feeling you have read too much into it
You have over analyzed it to death
Perhaps
You are just afraid of the answer
Assumptions and hunches will only get you so far
You find yourself staring at ink blots
Telling yourself you can see a picture
Forming a story
In your head..
Unless
Something
Alters it All together
So
Hints are dropped
Like morsels of bread
Trying to help you
In your lost travels
The problem lies
In recognizing them
It doesn't always happen
In a timely manner
So,
You think you understand
What you understand
What do you understand
Becomes the question
Certainty crumbles
Like sediment
As an earthquake of confusion hits you
And, now
You've thought too much
You've thought too long
So
Does that mean
The moment is over?
I'm left in a state of
Perpetual uncertainty
Hoping
One day
I'll put all the pieces of the puzzle together
The lines won't move
Ink blots will mean something
But for now
I'm left
Uncertain.

Universal Freedom Is......
Freedom from hunger and freedom from pain
freedom from loss and so freedom from gain.
Freedom to give and freedom to share
freedom from want and that of despair.
Freedom to think and freedom to know
freedom to achieve and freedom to grow.
Freedom from bondage and freedom of liberation
freedom from ignorance and any unknown situation.
Freedom to come and freedom to leave
freedom to stay and freedom to conceive.
Freedom from struggle and freedom of ease
freedom to enjoy and the capacity to please.
Freedom from failure and freedom of success
freedom from denial and freedom of access.
Freedom from illusion and freedom of reality
freedom to become what we are in actuality.
Freedom to live and freedom to die
freedom to laugh and freedom to cry.
Freedom to speak and freedom to listen
freedom to act based on a wise decision.
Freedom from hate and freedom of love
freedom of below and freedom of above.
Freedom of the past and freedom of the present
freedom of the future and what it can represent.
Freedom from war and freedom of peace
freedom to begin and freedom to cease.
Freedom from sickness and freedom of health
freedom from poverty and mishandled wealth.
Freedom from wrong and freedom being right
freedom of the day and freedom of the night.
Freedom to choose and freedom to reject
freedom to imagine what there is to expect.
Freedom from lust and freedom from greed
freedom from anger and freedom from breed.
Freedom from jealousy and freedom from pride
freedom from within and freedom from outside.
Freedom of always not having anything to hide.
Freedom from space and also freedom from time
freedom from attachment and freedom from crime
Freedom to work and freedom to play
freedom to believe and freedom to pray.
Freedom to experience a rebirth someday.
Freedom from the body and freedom from the mind
freedom from the ego and freedom from being blind.
Freedom of transcendence being of the spiritual kind.
Universal freedom is eternal and infinite bliss
we should all therefore be able to realise this.

A man who takes away another man's freedom is a prisoner of hatred, he is locked behind the bars of prejudice and narrow-mindedness. I am not truly free if I am taking away someone else's freedom, just as surely as I am not free when my freedom is taken from me. The oppressed and the oppressor alike are robbed of their humanity.
