I can't think of anything specific growing up that pointed me toward NASA at all. I was interested in the Moon landings just about the same as everyone else of my generation. But I never really thought about being an astronaut or working in space myself.

Childhood Memories Three: Bumble Bees In Space

down the rabbit hole
of childhood memories
we tumble into lost world

into childhood pioneering
memories of Apollo Space
Programme watering the

wonder of an over active
childhood imagination
ready to actively participate

in private space training
programme: stage one selection
process an astronaut a

buzz Aldrin is needed
Command Module Pilot
for next daring mission

into the pumpkin plants
capture and transfer into
jam jar space capsule is

successfully attained in
swift youthful triumph
proceeding to launch pad

Saturn V was not needed
Columbia was under hand
thrown rapidly into space

experiments had proven
spinning under hand thrust
was optimal acceleration

earlier experiments had
shown with less speed
shorter flights bumble bee

unsealed released from jam jar
would fly off seemingly
unaffected by space sickness

later higher speed launches
repeated in multiple launches
produced really dizzy bumbles

my recovery technique
employed no canopy sails
Columbia was hand caught

upon reentry and soft grass
lawn was safe back up
jam jar was never broken

yes study my land landings
observed could have taught
NASA a timely trick or two

Arthur C. Clarke

The inspirational value of the space program is probably of far greater importance to education than any input of dollars... A whole generation is growing up which has been attracted to the hard disciplines of science and engineering by the romance of space.

I think that when NASA works on a moon shot, they know too well that all of the people working on it must do their job at 110 percent. Sometimes they probably put in 18 hour days, but they're aiming for the moon, and that's what counts.

Astronauts

couples on the verge of divorce
have become astronauts because they always say they need

space.
it matters, and matter is that
which occupies space and has weight.
i need space. i am gaining weight.

i am standing on a cliff, on the verge of an abyss
i am not afraid
i want to fall, because i am an astronaut too needing

space.
i miss the fun at the opening of your beehive.
sort of your art boutique
i did not forget it.
i need space.
i need space.you badly need more space.

tomorrow morning you will ask me
why did you write a sad poem last night?

and i too, now, needed more space
to lie,
i will ask you,
which one?

did i?
i cannot remember.

Astronaut

Eyes can't Imagine whats there,
deep in that open space,
so why we travel lightly? ,
when we could have the best,
now looking to mars,
If aliens exist what would we do? ,
keep fooling around(might not be a world) ,
cause we destroying minds to foolishness,
I want to be a astronaut,
travel a million miles away,
so then they can't find me,
pluto look like pluto on show,
second world like second mention,
so my new job makes good money,
to support her & children,
on my could toes(steping on the moon) ,
it is peaceful lookin down to earth,
stars gather like astro,
we can always take it slow,
like a astronaut i'm flying,
feel free in my mind.

Cosmic Convoy

Space cowboy:
Breaker, breaker, breaker, this is the space cowboy out here,
And I am four light years away from the planet saturn.
Anybody out there got your ears on?
Why dont you tell me about it?
Jupiter moon:
Hello [...] space cowboy. this is jupiter moon talking at you
From mulitoid space. got some folks over here on your back door.
No one over here at your front door. looks like we got us a
Cosmic convoy.
Space cowboy:
Ah, tell me something now, we got that jupiter probe out there
Still?
Jupiter moon:
Yeah, [...] right behind you, following you.
Space cowboy:
Well tell me something, got any word on mr. spock out there?
Is he looking around for us?
Jupiter moon:
Ah, word I get is you better slow down a little bit. I know
Hes pushing 19 gs right now, and I think thats a little
Above the limit.
Space cowboy:
Yeah, I know, I know, Im rigged up, but I thought I could
Make up a little time here. I lost so much time coming around
The sun.
Jupiter moon:
Yeah I know, scooby doo for me too, sun spots [...]
Ok, space cowboy [...]
Space cowboy:
[...] and Im putting the hammer down. its been fun running
With you. well see you next century.
Jupiter moon:

Outta Space

Every day it's all the same no matter how I turn or twist my brain
I toss my body and scratch my f*ckin' mind
I bend and duck but I bounce 'gainst things all time
I'm left in this box I'm firmly and all stuck
I'm neatly tied and shelved I'm choked contained withheld
Outta space I'm growing outta space
I think I'm goin' crazy
Outta space I'm growing outta space
It's driving me crazy
Outta space I'm growing outta space
I think I'm goin' crazy
Outta space I'm growing outta space
I think I'm goin' out of my mind
I open my eyes wide to see some light
I take a breath and feel my box too tight
No matter how I press and push all day
That f*ckin' lid of mine won't give away
I'm left in this box...
Outta space...

Free falling Astronaut

Man
you flew me.

Into some
outer
space.

Passed the galaxies.

Edge
of
infinity.

Floating
weightless.

Movement
effortless.

Suspended,
no gravity.

Out there
in
this
space
oddity.

See You,
man
in
the
moon.

Free
falling
back
to
earth.

Burning up
descending
fast.

Not equipped for this.

Rip chord pulling.

No chute,
free
falling.

Ground control.
Out of control.
Tell
me
what
to
do.

Can you hear me?
Calling,
free
falling
astronaut.

Red Planet

Inform NASA that i am ready to go with them,
For i am also interested in the Red Planet;
And it is like the great clubs of the Red Sea.

48 hours,
And of your love up high through this voyage;
For my house address is in your heart.

Ambushed in the night of love,
And of the transparency of the kiss of love;
For i am a well known florist next door and,
I am interested in the Red Planet.

To the Red Planet,
And of the lust to have you around;
But life requires the presence of water!
And i will live to visit you one day.

Neil Armstrong-The Astronaut

Wright brothers first started the race,
Then was launched the Sputnik in space.
Twelve years later in the year 1969,
Man set foot on the distant moon—so fine.

Astronaut Neil Armstrong in space craft
Apollo-11 with co-pilot Edwin E.Aldrin were aloft
In space, and victoriously landed on the moon,
Steering their lunar landing craft ‘Eagle', soon.

On the moon near the ‘Sea of Tranquility'
They printed their foot-steps for eternity.
The first person was Neil Armstrong,
To step on moon, and his words, us throng—

"That's one small step for(a) man—
One giant leap for mankind."

His simple sentence was a corrasion,
Above the Earth's national divisions and dissensions
For more than two hours was the moon-walk mirth,
Where the gravity is one sixth that of the Earth.

This Apollo—11 mission successfully made,
Capped a disarrayed and consequential decade.
Back home, Neil Armstrong was in his business,
And in his academia he found good success.

He was remarkable in his vocation,
And who with lot of proud served the nation.
We are now very heart-broken to hear,
That at eighty two he is no more here.

The Evening

With the ghostly shapes of dead heroes
Moon, you fill
The growing silence of the forest,
Sickle-moon—
With the gentle embraces
Of lovers,
And with ghosts of famous ages
All around the crumbling rocks;
The moon shines with such blue light
Upon the city,
Where a decaying generation
Lives, cold and evil—
A dark future prepared
For the pale grandchild.
You shadows swallowed by the moon
Sighing upward in the empty goblet
Of the mountain lake.
