I still like to keep tapes of the few minutes before the final take, things that happen before the session. Maybe it's superstitious, but I believe if I had done things differently - if I had walked around the studio or gone out - it wouldn't have turned out that way.

How Come
How come when I got the ace of hearts
Ya always draw the ace of spades
Hows it when your best friend
Brings you lillies on your birthday
Hey how come, hey how come
Well I aint superstitious, but well these things I see
How come, how come
I aint a superstitious fella, but it worries me
How come when your local clergy calls
He tells me that you shouldnt wear black
What kind of bread are you gonna bake
With that hemlock in your spice rack
Hey how come, hey how come
Well I aint superstitious, but well these things I see
How come, how come
I aint a superstitious fella, but it worries me
The spiders run, the cobwebs gone
Did you eat it when the moon was new
I drowned your cat, what do you say about that
Ive even broken up your broom
How come, how come
Well I aint superstitious, but well these things I see
How come, how come
I aint a superstitious fella, but it worries me
Well how come, how come
Well I aint superstitious, but well these things I see
How come, how come
I aint a superstitious fella, but it worries me

Are the things that now, in retrospect, with what I've seen happen to my company, would I have done some things differently? I think - I think we all would do - we would do a number of things differently.

Session Man
He never will forget at all
The day he played at the albert hall.
A million sessions ago it seems.
He is a session man,
A chord progression,
A top musician.
Rock n roll or vocal star[? ],
A philharmonic orchestra,
Everything comes the same to him.
He is a session man,
A chord progression,
A top musician.
Hes not paid to think, just play,
A session man
A session man
A session man
Playing at a different studio every day.
He reads the dots and plays each line,
And always finishes on time.
No overtime nor favors done.
He is a session man,
A chord progression,
A top musician.
Hes not paid to think, just play,
A session man
A session man
A session man

Differently
Wish you told me by and by,
That my life would come to this,
That I'd have to find a way
to let things go,
That my friends would turn to foes,
And my love would come to blows,
Then I would have done some things
differently.
Differently...
I would ask you out every night.
Differently...
And I would make you feel so good.
Differently...
And appreciate the things that
you bring to me, babe.
Differently...
Oh yes I would, oh yeah.
Yeah, I know you tried and tried,
But your signal I just missed,
When you said my little girl
would soon be gone,
Yes I didn't hear you then,
And it might be too late now,
That's another thing I'd do
differently.
Differently...
Like trying to make you feel
loved every day.
Differently...
And saying little things to
let you know how I feel.
Differently...
Yes I can hear your young
voice calling me, babe.
Differently...
Oh yes I can.
When I 'm away I call you up,
And you don't seem to miss me as much,
But I know our love
is still there in your heart,
Just differently.
Differently...
Oh yes, I can hear your young
voice calling me, babe.
Differently...
Oh yes I can.
Differently...
I'd appreciate the things that you
bring to me babe, yes I would.
Differently...
Oh come on back to me babe,
bring your love back to me.
Differently...
Oh yeah I need your love,
I need your love.
Differently...
Yes I can tell you babe,
I need your love.
Differently...
Today is a brand new day, yes it is.
Differently...
Got to get your love back, babe,
come on now bring it back to me.
Differently...
Turn it around babe, turn it
around and bring it back.
Differently...
Yeah, yeah, oh yeah, got to get
your love back, come on babe.
Differently...
Yeah I can hear your young
voice calling me babe.
Differently...
Come on back to me, come on back,
yeah yeah, turn it around.
Differently...
Oh yes I can, yes I can.
Differently.

Superstition
Written by: stevie wonder
Very superstitious
Writing's on the wall
Very superstitious
Ladder's about to fall
Thirteen-month-old baby
Broke the looking glass
Seven years of bad luck
Good things in your past
If you believe in things that you don't understand
Then you suffer
Superstition ain't the way
Very superstitious
Wash your face and hands
Rid me of the problems
Do all that you can
Keep me in a daydream
Keep me going strong
You don't want to save me
Sad is my song
If you believe in things that you don't understand
Then you suffer
Superstition ain't the way
Very superstitious
Nothing more to say
Very superstitious
Devil's on his way
Thirteen-month-old baby
Broke the looking glass
Seven years of bad luck
Good things in your past
If you believe in things that you don't understand
Then you suffer
Superstition ain't the way
Superstition ain't the way...
Superstition ain't the way...

Things Happen For Their Reasons
Things happen for their reasons.
And there is no need to make excuses,
For the obviousness...
Of those mistakes made.
Things happen for their reasons.
And,
What is there to say...
That can excuse mistakes away.
Stop that need to medicate.
Things happen for their reasons.
Why waste time in prolonged debates.
Thing happen for their reasons.
What is the purpose for seeking escapes.
Things happen for their reasons.
Acceptance eases,
The facing of one's fate.
Things happen for their reasons.
They happen for their reasons.
Stop that need to feed on grief.
Things happen for their reasons.
Why squeeze a healing wound to bleed.
Things happen for their reasons
They happen for their reasons.
And aging doesn't make one safe.
Or offer escapades as a gateway to charade.
Things happen for their reasons.
They happen for their reasons.
Things happen for their reasons.
And there is no need to make excuses,
For the obviousness...
Of those mistakes made.
Even while one ages,
With a life reminisced played on many stages...
Try their best to gracefully accept,
Things happen for their reasons.
And those experienced,
Eventually see this.
Things happen for their reasons.
And in the living of one's life...
A discovery reveals,
Those reasons with insight.

Party Of Special Things To Do
When the stiff wind blows
The flag don't wiggle
In the party of special things to do
I met the ace of love
She took me to her plantation
For the love without separation
In the party of special things to do
It could happen to me
It could happen to you
I met the ace of love
She said I want you to go
To the party of special things to do
And when you're through
I'll be right here waiting for you
Here take these sparks
So my distant cousins can get along with you
Watch out for the mirror man
And elixir sue
When I got to the party of special things to do
It wasn't hard to find Elixir Sue
I met all the cards
The wild cards
The one-eye jill
The red queen
She turned her head
You know what I mean
She turned it back and said
"I got a brand new game I want to lay on you"
I met them all
At the party of special things to do
When I was done
I was far from through
I returned to the ace of love
Now wouldn't you?
I met them all
The camel wore a nightie
The camel wore a nightie
At the party of special things to do
...elixir sue
It wasn't hard to find liquor at the do
I met all the cards
The wild cards
You know what I mean
Then she turned it back and said
"I got a brand new game I think I want to lay on you"

at the easter party somewhere in the Philippine islands
i am thirty minutes late
i expect that everyone of you must have started dinner
those on the table of important names
must have already been seated in comfort
and slicing the beef and sipping their champagne
and those of lesser importance could have already lined up
to pick up their choices: chopsuey, lasagna, fish fillet or salads,
things did not happen the way i expected it
i become part of the waiting people, another thirty minutes
the reverend who shall bless the food is still somewhere
this is the party of fools and waiting is the bad game
there is no exact time to start, and every minute is flexible
the reverend has to say the final word
and we are but some kind of appendices on the book
there is nothing poetic in this thanksgiving, nothing at all.
the rice has gone cold, the grease turned solid, the guests too gullible.

Over You
Trouble is my calling card, that?s my middle name
Ever since you walked away, things are not the same
Now my life is misery, don?t know what to do
Yes your gone, your history, but I can?t get over you
Used to be in Shang-Gri-La, life used to be so good
You and me were going so far and that was understood
But ever since you walked away, my world has turned so blue
So now I live from day to day ?cos I can?t get over you
Give our love another chance, you could make it so
Just how this could go so wrong, I will never know
Well I want you right next to me and that?s all I can say
And I?ve been calling ever since you drove me away
You were on my mind so long, it?s hard for me to take
Now my heart is not so strong and it might break over you
You can wear a wig and some elevator shoes
Make yourself twice as big, but I?m still coming after you

Things Are Looking Up
If I should suddenly start to sing
Or stand on my head or anything
Dont think that Ive lost my senses
Its just that my happiness finally commences
The long long ages of dull despair
Are turning into thin air
And it seems that suddenly ive
Become the happiest girl alive
Things are looking up
Ive been looking the landscape over
And its covered with 4 leaf clover
Oh things are looking up
Since love looked up at me
Bitter was my cup
But no more will I be the mourner
For Ive certainly turned the corner
Oh things are looking up
Since love looked up at me
See the sunbeams
Every one beams
Just because of you
Loves in session
And my depression
Is unmistakably through
Things are looking up
Its a great little world we live in
Oh Im happy as a pup
Since love looked up at me
(bridge)
See the sunbeams
Every one beams
Just because of you
Loves in session
And my depression
Is unmistakably through
Things are looking up
Its a great little world we live in
Oh Im happy as a pup
Since love looked up at me

I Think, ...
I think, I think some things bit uniquely;
I think, I ink some things bit differently;
I think, I link things bit mysteriously;
I think, I wink and blink like most others!
I think, God wants me to think differently;
I think, God wants me to ink uniquely;
I think, God makes me sink my grievances;
I think, God bestows on me nuances!
