What we're doing with Band of Brothers is trying to put it into human terms, so it is not just a flickering, black and white myth on a screen, it is a resonant story. I want the audience to recognize themselves in these men. They're not just mythic heroes.

White Boys & Heroes
Were in the movies
Were heroes
We sparkle at night
Love among puppets
And one day
Ill pull all the strings
White boys and heroes
White boys and heroes
See boys say Im mayhem
Was my wife the doctor
The patient
Or something obscene
A history of nothing
Like a see-through song in disguise
Heroes are tough
And have no time
For women and boys
I wont cry
Till this thing is over
And someone agrees
White boys and heroes
White boys and heroes
See boys say Im mayhem
White boys and heroes
We have no time for celebration
We have no time left at all
White boys and heroes

Women can't be afraid to look like action heroes. It's not always pretty, but when it's on the screen, it translates well to the audience.

I look at the story, I look at the idea and just try to think of it in terms of that whole body of myth and see where the characters fit in and what they ought to be doing-all those archetypes are there to play with.

how do you know that God is a myth?
a myth
like the sphinx
and the phoenix
as the story goes
on and on
somehow
there was this death
at the end
and then immortality
in the same way
that my God
died and lived
forever
killing a myth
can be another myth
like asking how do you kill a myth
that does not exist?
when you finally give the correct answer
about our humanity
the sphinx gets killed.

Some New Game
Ive seen them come
Ive seen them go
Ive seen them all
Call this affection
Ive seen them do things
You wouldnt believe
I cant remember your name
I cant remember the time
I cant remember at all
Never again
She wants film
She wants sound
She wants everything
Its not love
In slow motion
Its a strange new game
Youve got a picture of me
And Ive got a picture of you
But whos got a picture of us?
Never again
Do it once more for the man on the phone
Do it once more for the boys in the band
Do it once more for the girl with no heart
Will you do it once more for me?
Shes black
Shes white
She could be anything
She looks good
She looks bad
She could tear me apart
Just say goodbye when you leave
And Ill say goodbye when youre gone
Well say goodbye in the dark
But never again
Do it once more for the man on the phone
Do it once more for the boys in the band
Do it once more for the girl with no heart
Will you do it once more for me?
Ive heard your story before
Ill hear your story again
Now Ive got a story for you
Never again
Do it once more for the man on the phone
Do it once more for the boys in the band
Do it once more for the girl with no heart
Will you do it once more for me?
Do it once more for the man on the phone
Do it once more for the boys in the band
Do it once more for the girl with no heart
Will you do it once more for me?

Literature is to read and enjoy.
I have seen many men and women
In action as the noble heroes and heroines.
I enjoyed their presentations.
I never thought to emulate them.
I read king Harichandra’s story
I valued the story.
To be true like him, I never thought.
It is a myth that literature changes men.

Mad As We Are
Yes I drink away the hurt, and wishing that the ghost would fade away
There was something more I had to do before you turned and walked away
Promises broken easily
Mad as we are, cannot fail, lives across my silver screen
Soaks it out, burns a trail speed of light, hope flickering
Pins and needles climbing up
The spite of bold cathedrals ever high
I'm not sure that I could cross this river, I'm not sure I want to try
Shadows is that's left of you
Mad as we are, cannot fail, lives across my silver screen
Soaks it out, burns a trail speed of light, hope flickering
Like moths in the night
Promises broken easily
Mad as we are, cannot fail, lives across my silver screen
Soaks it out, burns a trail speed of light, hope flickering
Mad as we are, cannot fail, lives across my silver screen
Soaks it out, burns a trail speed of light, hope flickering
Mad as we are, cannot fail, lives across my silver screen
Soaks it out, burns a trail speed of light, hope flickering
Like moths in the night

It's rare that you cut out something that is really good. You screen all of it, and when the audience doesn't respond, you cut out whatever is holding the story down.

Black man be human
Black man takes out his wallet and lays it bare for all to see
Marauding notes casing his dignity
Black man be human
Question, how can I be?
Equal to the white man, silk hair smooth skin
Black man be human
Status restored but dignity ignored
Simply shaped by his disfigured identity
Causing all to scream
Black man be human
Black man takes out his wallet and lays it bare for all to see
A face achieved yet sadly he realises
Now the world screams
Black man you are human
Shaped in a western perception
Of what it means to be
Black man you are human
Black man: ‘I am human'
As they told me to be
No uniqueness
Or vision
Shaped
Character
Just like them
Black man: ‘I am human'

Black & White Television
I looked in the mirror then
Saw my face in a dream.
With eyes sharp as diamonds
Blessed with clear vision.
Things were not as they seemed.
Black and white television
Stared back from the wall.
Is that my life?
Am I here at all?
Down in the high road, see
Motor cavalcades glide
Past shopwindow dressers
Desperately covering
All the parts they can hide.
Black and white television
Stares at me again.
Is that their lives?
Even dummies pretend.
The truth is so hard to deny.
The answer is here.
The screen never lies.
Black and white television.
Its the right television.
Show me its all a dream tonight.
The boys on the corner sulk
In their suzuki haze.
In primary colours
(each year more startling)
But they still fade to grey
On black and white television.
Its sweeping the land.
Is that your life?
Do you understand?
The truth is so hard to deny.
The answer is here.
The screen never lies.
Black and white television.
Back the right television.
Black and white television.
Hard to fight television.
Show me its all a dream tonight.

The Notforgettin'
Before that sacred holy flickering tv-screen
You're served commercials day-time fakes and tv-priests
You keep your VCR running almost constantly
Afraid to miss out on something happening on channel three
You zap from channel one to two look what they have done to you
You live from staged realities and fakes
Channel three then four and five you double check your tv-guide
Re-enacted lives to keep you awake
Life is served
Here every taste will find our satisfaction guarantee
On the never sleeping flickering screen
You keep watching this truly weird masquarade
The flickering screen enchants you your truly all enslaved
Nostalgia sports and comedies, cops cartoons and tragedies
Remote control at hand you sit enslaved
Washing powder and apple pies re-runs soaps and Jesus Christ
Anytime is time to zap the world away
Life is served...
We're your tellyvisions
You zap from channel one to two...
Nostalgia sports and comedies...
Life is served...

The White Of The Paper
i like the white screen
i like the white paper
because they ask such
a simple task from me
write as you wish
think as you want to
or dont want to
I feel a white dove
flying amongst wondrous
cumulus clouds
meditate as much as i wish
so that the white becomes
a mere plane of zen,
a vibration of existence
i like the white screen
i like the white paper
because they ask just
such a simple thing of me
to swing myself and exercise
my thoughts so that i let loose
clouds, birds, stars and moon
in the minds of men
i like the white screen
i like the white paper
because they always
are my best friends,
open an infinite plane
for me to act out my antics
for the good of men,
exercise their minds and
let their humours flow
i like the white of the
screen and the paper
because they are always
there to accommodate me
to let the gift from heaven flow

Brothers
Lets get to the point now
Just because weve got the same mum and dad
That dont mean im your keeper
That dont mean I owe anything to you
You dont care for me
And man I dont think that much of you
Cause were brothers brothers brothers
I dont approve of anything you do
Cause were brothers brothers brothers
Cain and abel and me and you
You drove my car when we were young boys
And you tore it up too
You never paid to get it fixed
And you got me beat up a time or two
I know I should forgive and forget
But man I still hold a grudge against you
Cause were brothers brothers brothers
I dont approve of anything you do
Cause were brothers brothers brothers
Cain and abel and me and you
It is as normal as it can be
This sibling rivalry
We should have dropped it at 22
But man I cant stand the things you do
Cause were brothers brothers brothers
Youre always want something from me
Cause were brothers brothers brothers
It was so much fun having you in the family
Cause were brothers brothers brothers
Now that were grown it aint helped nothin? at all
Cause were brothers brothers brothers
On my birthday, please dont bother to call
Cause were brothers brothers brothers
Brothers brothers brothers
Yeah, youre my brother brother brother
Brothers brothers brothers
Yeah, were brothers brothers brothers
Yeah, were brothers brothers brothers
Brothers brothers brothers

On a Close-up of Louis Esterhuizen, on His Verse Novel “die onderwaterweg, ” (The Underwater Way)
So tell me Louis, you start your verse novel
of which the story line is very thin,
with a white man lying drunk and silent in hospital
after trying to commit suicide,
with memories taking him back
to events in his marriage with his white wife
who had been a left wing political activist,
where politics makes the marriage crumble,
rather than interpersonal relationships,
were marriages usually crumble
from a lack of communication
and respect for each other?
Where at times he is impotent,
where at times he gets it right,
where he looses her in consequence of a rebellious march
are cut from her leftwing circle of friends,
where she head over heels in the middle of the road
lift her dress; let her panties hang around her knees
where she has sex with a black freedom fighter
(how realistic this may be)
is pregnant with a child for Azania
while children in rags string along after her,
where they again sleep together
and he does not catch AIDS,
she is slaughtered in a pincher operation
or maybe by canister-shot
(again utterly unrealistic)
after which he buries her
along with her black friends.
On visits by a certain Jabula, fall in love with her,
he changes from white to black,
so much so that he takes a taxi to a hut somewhere,
where she is a labourer on a sugar plantation
where she makes love to him, they give life to a child
and I wonder if you want to draw this story
through to every white Afrikaner?
Especially where the main character in a prayer
to the almighty God wants to know
if the AK-47 and famine
is God’s own way of controlling vermin?
A person can easily come to the conclusion
along with the thirst for heroes for the black struggle
and where you write “morning walk”
set against Ingrid Jonker’s poem of the child,
that you view every Afrikaner,
every white farmer killed on a farm,
as plague or vermin,
that God kills through black people,
if white people do not mix with blacks,
as the main character in your story does?

Black+White=My Life
Black-
The color of my soul
White-
The color of my spirit
Together Black and White combined
It all equals my life
The 2 only colors
That are not really colors at all
The story of my life
I am alone
I die slowly and painfully
Not a care in the world
Where I would end up
If only I would survive...
Black-
The color of my Heart
White-
The color of my Hopes and Dreams
Together again Black and White reunite as one
As you can tell
The 2 only colors of my life are Black and White
As if you care
You rather see me suffer in vain
You keep heaeing me say I am alone
Well now you know its true

On The Verge Of
Though alchemists in every continent worked hard,
to change the cheap metals into the precious gold,
they had never succeeded as it was not the truth,
hidden in the electronic configuration and a myth,
myth of mummy's resurrection from the pyramids and a cave,
myth of witch's spell and poor women's haunted look,
myth of piped piper and the following of the rats loot,
myth of the split ocean that paved the way for the joy walk,
myth of human intelligence and its relation to the races,
myth of ether that found in the space,
myth of flat earth, myth of spirit,
all are not lies, but steps taken to find the truth,
truth hidden in nature, that has hundred more elements,
everything derived from these, even the love and lust,
even the diseases and wellness,
concept and convenience of communication,
We have found something to explore other things,
we cloned the new things to produce substitute organs,
We are one step backward to find that God,
Who controls us to be happy and sad,
Creation of life in a cell, then,
Man will be the creator, until then,
Would we be alive or would we be destroyed,
if Gods of religions like to keep the secret or,
the intelligence of human dig its own grave.

Cinema-Cafe Talk
seated in the front-stalls
too close to the screen
they lean across the table
out of focus
try to lipread
in the flickering white and blackness
and all the cinematic reel will show
is that everything was scripted
even the time to go

Fathom the Hell, the Pain and Suffering
Let's sit think of everything that a soldier goes through,
Fathom the Hell, the pain and suffering that they endure
so much has been given and taken or sacrficed for me and you.
then think of the biggest thing that was not taken, but kept safe and guarded, is our enemies from returning to our shore.
Yes, they have come home feeling the mental stress and pain,
But to some of our not so kind citizens they think and say, ' just leave them be,
By helping or babying them they have nothing to gain.
Hell, do you think they want our sympathy. '
This is where we all should take a stand against anyone with those points of views,
To tell them that know we might not agree to support the war,
But, when it comes to supporting our Heroes, there is nothing better else to choose.
the only thing that our hero's want, is to be accepted and supported nothing more.
There is a old saying, it could be by any service: Band of Brothers,
The saying can be simply explained is that we do not leave our brothers behind.
Let's motivate and surprise our Heroes as they come home, they are welcomed more than any others.
hopefully we can ease their adaption back to this way of life as an easier find.
