Solitaire
There was a man,
A lonely man
Who lost his love
Through his indifference
A heart that cared
That went unshared
Until it died
Within his silence
And solitaires the only game in town
And every road that takes him takes him down
While life goes on around him everywhere
Hes playing solitaire
A little hope
Goes up in smoke
Just how it goes,
Goes without saying
There was a man,
A lonely man
Who would command
The hand hes playing
And solitaires the only game in town
And every road that takes him takes him down
And by himself its easy to pretend
Hell never love again
And keeping to himself he plays the game
Without her love, it always ends the same
While life goes on around him everywhere
Hes playing solitiare

Solitaire
Carl nutter, renee borek, king guion
Since youve gone I spend each lonely night,
Dealing out the cards from left to right,
And the king of hearts is there to remind me
That Im all alone playing solitaire.
Love was just another game for two,
I see now thats all it meant to you,
And my heart got lost somewhere in the shuffle,
So Im all alone playing solitaire
In each romance theres an element of chance,
A gamble to win or to lose,
You play to win, then you find youre playing in a game with no rules,
Just made for fools.
Now, the joker has a laugh on me,
cause I played my hand so carelessly,
And until you wanna share that old feeling,
Ill be dealing time away with solitaire.
And until you want to share that old feeling,
Ill be dealing time away, dealing time away with solitaire.

Heart Of My Own
I cant go near the scent of flowers.
I cant look at the sky.
I cant turn on the radio
And not cry.
I wont watch lovers holding hands
Or the sun sinking down.
I cant look at a single thing in this town.
You were playing a game and i,
I lost count of the days and the nights.
Do you know that you were my life?
Im tryin hard to find all thats left of me,
Now that you left me alone.
Tired of runnin away from your memory.
I need a heart of my own.
I have looked through every single book,
Torn through every poem,
Heard the words of every voice
That Ive known.
How can you have such a hold on me,
When youve already let go?
You must have more power than I know.
Woah.
You were playing a game and i,
I lost count of the days and the nights.
Oh, did you know that you were my life? !
Im tryin hard to find all thats left of me,
Now that you left me alone,
Im tired of runnin away from your memory.
I need a heart of my own.
You gave me heaven and showed me how to fly,
Then laughed when I fell from the sky, yeah!
[guitar interlude]
Tired of runnin away from your memory.
I need a heart of my own.
Im tryin hard to find all thats left of me,
Now that you left me alone,
Im tired of runnin away from your memory.
I need a heart of my own.

The Skin Game
You're welcome to fame
You're welcome to try
I've been on tv, sold my face to you
You're welcome to love
You're welcome to me
I burned my dream, sold my heart, nobody knew
Listen children
I've seen my future
Call it the deadline for now
I've heard secrets
I've heard excuses
I've heard a voice in the dark
You're waiting for me
You've made a mistake
I'll give you nothing but lies, or nothing at all
I'm playing a game
I'm playing with you
I call it shameful, 'the skin game,' don't you?
You're playing it cold
(ripping it up)
You're playing for time
(i don't like pictures)
You're breaking my rules and i won't let you go
I'm looking for you
(welcome to me)
Somebody screamed
(it's no use talking)
I've connections with god. what do you need?
Lost in junk sick
No sleep no motion
She said 'he's nothing to lose'
Love sick? skin game
Welcome to romance
She's like the heart of the world
I'm still breathing
Welcome to my house
I'd steal from god, wouldn't you?
One more question
Am i in danger?
Rumours. and i've got the fear
Looking for you
Is it any wonder?
Tearing it up
Living on empty

Crying In The Rain
Can you make it all right?
Can you make it okay?
When the top don't come out right, you move the sunlight away
Now I feel no pain
I do my crying in the rain
Everybody hurts when your playing the game of love
Stumble and fall and it's all in the name of love
Words don't come out right. Can you make it okay
And the way I feel I keep outside then make the heart break fade away
And the nights are long and cold, I want you here my dear to hold
Everybody hurts when your playing the game of love
Stumble and fall and it's all in the name of love
Everybody hurts when your playing the game of love
Tear it apart and it's all in the name of love
Now I feel no pain
I do my crying in the rain
Everybody hurts when your playing the game of love
Stumble and fall and it's all in the name of love
Words don't come out right. Can you make it okay?
Everybody hurts when your playing the game of love
Stumble and fall and it's all in the name of love
Words don't come out right. Can you make it okay?
Everybody hurts when your playing the game of love
Stumble and fall and it's all in the name of love
Words don't come out right. Can you make it okay?

The Conversation
You know, since you've played that game too:
Sometimes, consumed by glowing, burning love
of treasured child, or husband, wife,
it is one further bound of love
to speak of them with a detachment;
casually; offhand; as if it were
of no great current consequence;
you look into their eyes; see there what you see:
love's incoherent boundlessness;
are lost to love yourself;
smile; and play their game.

Cheap Date
wasted youth on
being wasted
tasting the lips of liars
with checkered pasts
playing the game
not playing the game
being game
taming
the shrew
I liked to shop
hunting for bargains
hunting for game
game over
he was no bargain
what is the price
you'll pay?
at what cost?

Solitair, a teacher
Solitaire is a card game
Developed for playing
By self with no opponent
The fact is you are
Playing your own self
This is what
Solitaire teaches you
You shuffle cards
You distribute them
Upside down
Over eight or ten rows
Not knowing which card
Lays where and in what order
Keeping only the top layer open
You start arranging
Cards in descending order
As you move an open card
The card immediately under
Opens up
The card opening up may or may ot be
Matching your requirements
While opening up card
Depends on your luck
Card moving is totally
Left to you and
A lot depends on your skill
But you keep playing
Till the time either you win
By accumulating suits in order
Or when you get stuck
With no more moving of cards possible
And you lose the game
Life is like that only
And as in solitaire you play it alone
Though you seemingly have partners
And you must know that
You are all alone playing your game
You act on visible opportunities
And as you act upon this
New venues opening up
One by one
Either to your surprise or shock
Still you keep playing the game of life
Expecting each time when you act
There will be favourable changes
And with further scopes for gaining
The only difference is that
You quit the game in solitaire
But in life the game leaves you
At its discretion
Leaving you to wonder
Whether you are a winner or loser

Jane
Jane you say its all over for you and me girl
Theres a time for love and a time for letting it be baby
Jane youre playing a game called, called hard to get by its real name,
Making believe that you just dont feel the same. oh jane
Jane youre playing a game you never can win girl
Youre staying away so Ill ask you where you been baby
Like a cat and a mouse, (cat and a mouse) from door to door and house to house
Dont you pretend you dont know what Im talking about
Were all those nights we spent together, hey hey
Only because you didnt know better, I gotta know
Jane, youre playin a game, playin a game, playin a game
(jane, jane, jane)
Ah jane youre playing a game of hide and go seek
Jane youre playing for fun but I play for keeps, yes I do
(jane, jane, jane) thats a game on me
(jane, jane, jane) so plain to see
Janey jane why you foolin with me
(jane, jane, jane)

You Do Know That The Lights Are Out?
You are playing alone.
And in left field.
You do know that the lights are out?
Do you practice for a new game to begin?
With a planning done in my presence.
I am not going to say you are bold...
And cold.
I'd call this...
Straight up heartlessness.
With a tilted head,
And a lot of salt and pepper.
You are playing alone.
And in left field.
You do know that the lights are out?
Why are we arguing between us about faults?
And what had been accepted,
Now hated so that has you hissing.
You do know that the lights are out?
Here!
And you can,
Play the field.
Did you come here...
To hear again,
That reminder?
A pain healed, seldom repeats that process again.
When one's duty is to booty,
Loses compassion...
Don't expect a lost action,
To rekindle itself on memories.
Few...
Were the good ones.
Do you remember your entrance?
That is also your exit.
And...
Those lights that are out?
You did it.
You turned them off.

Playing With The Boys
Id say it was the right time
To walk away
When dreaming takes you nowhere
Its time to play
Bodies working overtime
Your money dont matter
The clock keeps ticking
When someones on your mind
Im moving in slow motion
Feels so good
Its a strange anticipation
Knock, knock, knocking on wood
Bodies working overtime
Man against man
And all that ever matters
Is baby whos ahead in the game
Funny but its always the same
Playing, playing with the boys
Playing, playing with the boys
After chasing sunsets
One of lifes simple joys
Is playing with the boys
Said it was the wrong thing
For me to do
I said its just a boys game
Girls play too
My heart is working overtime
In this kind of game
People get hurt
Im afraid that someone is me
If you want to find me, Ill be
Playing, playing with the boys
Staying, playing with the boys
After chasing sunsets
One of lifes simple joys
I dont want to be the moth around your fire
I dont want to be obsessed by my desire
Im ready, Im leaving
Ive seen enough
...with the boys
Ive seen enough
You play too rough
Playing, playing with the boys
Ill be staying, playing with the boys
After chasing sunsets
One of lifes simple joys
Is playing with the boys
Playing with the boys
Playing
Playing
Playing
Playing

To Mary Jane...
My dear, when I am with you
I find myself getting lost...
Getting lost in the ambiance
Of your summer sweet music
Playing as soft as a whisper
In the genius loci background
Getting lost in the distant depths
Of your green earth eyes
That simulate your boundless world
Of inexhaustible possibilities
Getting lost in the resplendency
Of your sun reflected smile
And lost inside
The floral envelope of your heart
Blossoming everlastingly
In your warmth
But frankly dear
I don't need to be found
Because I have found
What I've been looking for
The cushy current through your love

Thanks for playing with my feelings,
Thanks for playing with my feelings,
How i wish i could stop my heart from beating,
Thanks for playing with my heart,
At least to you this was a fun part,
you have left me broken, with my eyes filled with tears and fears,
At least you are whole, with smile on your face and not a sight of fear,
To you i was just a game, that you tried to win and succeeded,
Now that you are bored you've left me deserted,
Thanks for playing with my head,
Your sick little mind games,
You kept me guessing, till the very end,
Thanks for playing with my emotions,
According to you this was my weakness,
Thanks for your fake love,
Thanks for pretending that your cared,
Thanks for strengthening my belief, that LOVE is nothing but a pain causing pill,
Thanks for showing me that friendship is something that does not really exist,
Thanks for breaking my trust, for opening up, for sharing my thoughts, for placing my trust on an unknown soul,
Thanks for opening my eyes, you honestly showed me that Love too like friendship is something that does not actually exist,
Thanks for showing me the right path,
A path where to help is to hurt, to love is to lie, to share is to sin, to smile is a crime,
Thanks for showing me, a man with a heart is not a man at all,
Thanks for proving that I'm a fool, to have trusted you,
I will hate myself, till the very end, for loving you...........................

(words & music by neil sedaka - justin cody)
There was a man, a lonely man
Who lost his love, thru his indifference
A heart that cared that went unshared
Until it died within his silence
And solitaire is the only game in town
And every road that takes him, takes him down
While life goes on around him everywhere
Hes playing solitaire
And keeping to himself, begins to deal
And still the king of hearts is well concealed
Another losing games comes to an end
And deals them out again
A little hope goes up in smoke
Just how it goes, goes without saying
There was a man, a lonely man
Who would command the hand hes playing
And solitaire is the only game in town
And every road that takes him, takes him down
While life goes on around him everywhere
Hes playing solitaire
And keeping to himself, begins to deal
