The repressed memory is like a noisy intruder being thrown out of the concert hall. You can throw him out, but he will bang on the door and continue to disturb the concert. The analyst opens the door and says, If you promise to behave yourself, you can come back in.

Love Sign (Remix)
If U're sick of evil knocking on your door
Throw up the love sign once and 4evermore
If U'd rather make love and have a little fun
Throw up the love sign everybody and not the gun
In a chariot of red and gold
The cool, fuzzy voice said "Come save your soul"
Be4 the fear of rejection reared its head
He stood be4 the masses and calmly said
If U're sick of evil knocking on your door
Throw up the love sign once and 4evermore
If U'd rather make and have a little fun
Throw up the love sign everybody and not the gun
In the day of where and why we all belong
Don't no body wanna hear a silly love song
And if they did then we would sing it on the news
While U're aiming your gun at me and I'm aiming back at U
Pop, pop, pop go the pistol
Bang, bang, bang go the gun
Pop, pop, pop go the pistol
Bang, bang, bang go the gun
If U only had one year left 2 live
What good is the time U spend if U got no love 2 give?
Let's all get up off the front and find a cause 2 back
Then we could teach the babies replications of the act
If U're sick of evil knocking on your door
Throw up the love sign once and 4evermore
If U'd rather make love and have a little fun
Throw up the love sign everybody and not the gun

And as far as the Disney Concert hall is concerned, it is a wonderful modern structure and I am extremely honored that I had this opportunity to have a concert here.

Hearts Door
I knock on your hearts door
and the sign says 'don't disturb.'
'
I slip a note over the transom
and its floats back 'undeliverable.'
I sleep outside your hearts door,
day and night,
my ear cupped to hear rustlings.
I've rehearsed what I'll say if the door opens.
You'll take me in your arms.
I'll knock every day on your hearts door.
I'll sit.
I'm patient
I am not going any where.
I wait,
outside your heart's door
because
one day
it will open
and my soul
will stare into
your soul
and melt there.
Just you wait
you'll see.

A concert is a concert is a concert is a concert. An album is an album is an album is an album. Musically, both have nothing in common.

Running For My Life
Running
Down the hall
The bell is ringing
I’m late for class
I’m late for life
Running
From this thing
This big, black, ugly
Swirling, shifting, changing thing
This thing that is everything
But is thin as air
Is really nothing at all
Running
From this thing
This thing I call “The Black”
That chases me
Seemingly
For all eternity
Running
From my past
Passing right by the present
Into my future
Into one of these doors
The doors that line the hall
The hall of life I’m running down
Running because I’m late
Running for my life
Running
Past these doors
One of them is the right door
The door through which I must go
Oh, how do I know
Which key on the jingling ring in my hand
Opens the door to my future?
The door to everything
I’ve ever wanted to do
Or be
The one door through which
That thing
The Black
Cannot follow me
Oh, look
Up ahead
That might be it
That door just screams my name
(But they won’t like that door –
It doesn’t fit their mold)
So what?
Who cares?
It’s my life
It’s my future
That door is me!
Now I’m
Searching
For the key.
Christmas Carol Singalong
(Every Christmas, I go to the Christmas Carol Singalong at the Royal Albert Hall, hosted by Jonathan Cohen, and I wanted to capture the atmosphere of the event.)
I love going to the Royal Albert Hall for the Christmas Carol Sing-along.
It attracts a really large audience – some five thousand people strong.
Before the concert begins, there’s excited anticipation in the air,
And, there are plenty of cheerful, smiling faces, everywhere.
On stage, there’s a large orchestra and a smartly clad choir,
And there’s the promise of singing to your heart’s desire.
There’s well known Christmas songs old and new,
And all your favourite Christmas carols mixed in to.
Sometimes, just the orchestra get to do their thing,
And sometimes, just the choir stand up and sing.
There’s also a guest singer who sings a few songs,
But, with the majority of songs, we get to sing along.
On the pacier numbers, the choir move to the beat,
Clapping their hands together and shuffling their feet.
There’s usually a piano solo which requires nifty fingers.
I watch in total awe and my amazement always lingers.
They certainly look like they’re having great fun.
The festive cheer you experience there is second to none.
Everyone dons festive Santa hats during the second half,
And everyone looks like they’re having such a great laugh.
At some point, a Mexican wave usually begins,
And losing their inhibitions, everybody joins in.
There are often some shout-outs to people in the crowd,
And they respond with a wave and cheer very loud.
There’s a party spirit all round the Hall,
And everybody really is having a ball.
The whole concert is joyous and very fast paced
And is guaranteed to light up even the glummest face.
On stage, there are two huge Christmas trees, brightly lit.
Everything about this concert proves to be a massive hit.
Full of cheer, everyone claps and sings along in their seats.
Going to the concert makes my Christmas totally complete.
When the choir sings ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas’, you know,
That the concert is drawing to a close and it will soon be time to go.
You leave the Hall feeling full of joy and Christmas cheer,
Ready to repeat this wonderful experience again next year.

Unopened Doors
Many doors of opportunity
remain shut through passing time.
You stand at them,
but they never open to let you pass through.
You try and try, but with no avail.
The door remains shut to you,
but you see other pass through it
and your frustration grows.
You bang and shout
and never anyone answers you.
The years slip silently by
from your youth until your old.
Each time you try the door
it refuses to let you through.
Even with more wisdom
it refuses to let you in,
but you don’t give up
you just try and try again.
More time passes
and you’ve lost the will
to want to go through.
You reach that point when you feel the battle lost.
Turning your back you walk away
to let the sun set on your life.
You feel you have nothing now,
no more will to fight.
Someone suggests a different direction,
a different door to go through.
You are hesitant
in case the door remains shut to you.
Finally, you try it
and are amazed to find
the door opens easily
and you can walk through,
but you keep remembering
the door that wouldn’t open for you.

Break Down The Door
Music by: Barry Manilow and Bob Gaudio
Lyrics by: Enoch Anderson
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not the man I used to be
Fell down a time or two
When luck was lookin' out for me
I missed the knock
And never knew
I let you go
But you can't get away from me again
Do you want me to plead?
Do you want me to cry?
Any proof that you need
Any promise you'll buy
Do you want me to break down the door
Do you want me to break down the door
Break down the door
You say you saw me lose control
Look now I'm in the lead
And you can have me heart and soul
I'm overhauled
And guaranteed
What do you say
Why don't you take a chance
on me again
Do you want me to plead?
Do you want me to cry?
Any proof that you need
Any promise you'll buy
Do you want me to break down the door
Do you want me to break down the door
Break down the door
Can't say for sure what's comin'
It ain't what's gone before
Except we had some damn good times
And I know we both want more
Do you want me to plead?
Do you want me to cry?
Any proof that you need
Any promise you'll buy
Do you want me to break
Do you want me to break down
Do you want me to break down the
Do you want me to break down the door

No Smoke No Bottle For Fantasies
My oracy is in shambles when you appear
Spellbound my words stumble over hurdles near,
Placed by the striking beautiness of your beauty
No smoke no bottle, only the genie- s- for fantasies duty,
The concierge I am I hand you your key
You see a uniform and smile and look thru me,
You ride the lift to heaven in this shimmering tower
I dream my fantasy; you wait in your heavenly bower.
But wait,
The room phone buzzes, ‘Yes, concierge, yes your purse
I see it, certainly I will bring it now’, my thoughts I nurse,
I press the code in the lift to fly to the top floor,
Eternity passes time stands still before I tap on her door
Clouds appear, the moon whispers my heart pumps.
The door opens, I extinguish my gulps
Shivers, this goddess stands tall with a diamond crown,
Dressed for the kill in a black see thru naughty nighty gown,
I step into my fantasy my life no longer hanging
But wait whats that banging,
Bang bang bang!
Johnny get out of bed its seven am
Wake up you have to be at work by 7.30 am,
Wake up you look as though you are in a dream
The Rockefeller’s are back, their daughter will beam
Their penthouse must shine by the concierge team,
Take note from no other, I’m your loving mother!

Hidden Hall of Mirrors
Silver maze behind the door
Opens when I hit the floor
Little girl that’s trapped inside
Doesn’t know she lives a lie
Lost within a silver maze
Now the world begins to haze
Mirrors flex and bend too great
Rebound back and now they break
Glass flies, reflecting, tearing
At her courage, quickly wearing
The door is open, the deed is done
It’s far too late, she cannot run
From the horrors sealed away
In the hall, where she play
She must face the terrors
Within the hidden hall of mirrors

Back Door Man
Im every man here in disguise
Lie cheat and give you a spoonful of lies
Im a high toned mother with an axe to grind
Come a little closer honey, see what you find
Your worst nightmares all rolled in one
Ill find you sure as the rising sun
Dont make a noise its understood
cos this aint no story like red riding hood
Im your back door man, Im your back door man oh yeah
Im your back door man, come on babe, and Ill take you where I can
Systematically I choose at will
But with you theres an obscene thrill
Its funny now how you cant say no
Its the smell of fear that you love so
Im your back door man, Im your back door man, oh yeah,
Im your back door man baby, just take it where you can
This first kiss has a touch of ice
Now hows that feel, it aint so nice
Blackhearted mamma Ive something new
Oh lord look what Ive turned into
[instrumental]
Im your back door man, Im your back door man
Im your back door man, Im your back door man

When It Rains It Snows
Theres a knock at the door that I adore
Theres a face at the window, a smiling yellow face
Theres a knock at the door
And if I were at home theyd find me there
Theres a note on the door that I would see
And the furnitures barely been moved from where it was
Theres a note on the door
And the note would say when it rains it snows
When it rains it snows, I wonder why
And now I know that when it rains it snows
Theres a nut with a shotgun bang bang bang
Theres a doctor, a waitress, a fireman with a hat
Theres a nut with a gun
Theres enough so theyll never know which one
When it rains it snows, I wonder why
And now I know that when it rains it snows

A Concert Invitation
The following invitation appeared on the programme of a
concert.
If pleasant night you wish to spend,
Go and invite your lady friend;
Oddfellow's concert is the place
Where happiness beams in each face.
When you resolve to call her wife,
And to enjoy the rest of life,
All furniture you may require
You can get cheap from McIntyre.

The Unchosen One
God why you want to play with me
Cant you see Im tumbling down
And like your favorite toy
Boy Im tired of being thrown around
You lead me through this life of complication and delusion
So you drop it in my lap and slap me back towards confusion
When its so hard to decide whether to live or to die in this destiny
Tell me what would you say if at the end of the day it was just you and me
Smile away the fears that only seem to run me around
So you open up the door then the floor came crumbling down
Ive only one or two dreams there worth losing
But theyre unraveling, traveling down the road to ruin
And the harder I try the more I slip and I slide through this fantasy
All by myself I need your help to perservere
But the same conclusions always greet me at my door
Wouldnt it be nice to fade away
And maybe one day you will show me what went wrong
How did I become the unchosen one
So when the rain is just around my corner
Throw some sunshine down my way
And Ill hit you with a smile all the while my worries melt away
So wont you show me a sign as I continue to climb up this reality
All by myself I need your help to perservere
And the same conclusions always greet me at my door
Wouldnt it be nice to fade away
And maybe one day you will show me what went wrong
So how did I become the unchosen one

She Knows When Youre On My Mind
She knows shes holdin someone who dont love her
She knows shes where you could have been
She knows I turn to her because you turned me down
And she knows when youre on my mind again
Every night she opens up the door to heaven
But when youre on my mind I cant go in
And you come runnin through my mind and I let my memory chase you
She knows when youre on my mind again
Sometimes late at night I hear her crying
She turns to me but you wont let her in
She knows the door is locked but she keeps trying
She knows when youre on my mind again
Every night she opens up the door to heaven
But when youre on my mind I cant go in
And you come runnin through my mind and I let my memory chase you
She knows when youre on my mind again

After The Concert
After the concert you went
around the back and there
was the bus with John Lewis
talking to some guy by the
door and having got by them
you climbed aboard the bus
and saw the other members
of the MJQ and having made
your way towards them Percy
Heath gave you a big smile and
you said who you were and he
gave you the low down on his
double bass and signed your
programme and so did Connie
Kay although he didn’t have a
lot to say and then there was
Milt Jackson who was sitting
in a side seat a guy you wanted
to meet who had played with
most of the jazz greats years
before and he said a few words
and signed with a quick squiggle
and then as you departed the bus
John Lewis all gentlemanly and
soft spoken signed the programme
too and then you were off back
home to play the record of the
MHQ you’d bought carrying your
images of the MJQ guys in your
memory that you’d caught.
