San Francisco has long been a leader in the arts, nurturing generations of painters, sculptors, poets, novelists, playwrights, film-makers, and performing artists and innovators of every kind.

I do not think men have more talent. There are a great many women in the arts; novelists, painters, sculptors, poets-but the proportion is far lower in the field of song writing.

Bohemia
Authors and actors and artists and such
Never know nothing, and never know much.
Sculptors and singers and those of their kidney
Tell their affairs from Seattle to Sydney.
Playwrights and poets and such horses' necks
Start off from anywhere, end up at sex.
Diarists, critics, and similar roe
Never say nothing, and never say no.
People Who Do Things exceed my endurance;
God, for a man that solicits insurance!

Write Yours Now
The 'Journal of Death Studies' for April2004
(maybe you read it? It's in the
hospital library, top shelf
just out of wheelchair reach,
on the shelf labelled 'Reference')
observed that
nonfiction writers tend to die, factually, at sixty-eight;
novelists tie it all up at sixty-six;
playwrights lower the curtain at sixty-three,
and poets close their stanzas at sixty-two.
Well, thanks..
six years - looking on the bright side -
for your favourite biographer to write you up;
four years for novelists to borrow
your untidy life and win the Booker Prize;
a year for playwrights to emulate
the bitter dialogue of your later,
less romantic household years
with less fear of being sued.
Those whom the gods love, die young,
said the optimistic poet
shortly before he died.
for PoHo, who gave me the damn book with the reference in.
And yes, I wondered too..

I took to wearing a black tie known as the Ascot, with long drooping ends. I had seen pictures of painters, sculptors, poets, wearing this style of tie.

Tender and Sweet
Sorry to disappoint.
But I am not the tender/sweet kind.
I am aware that kind of association,
Is generally placed upon those
Who express their creativity as a performing art.
And the 'arts' are suppose to be for those of limp wrists.
I've heard that all my life.
And no one I've ever met quite depicted that at all.
Those I know are very hard working.
Thought provoking and determined.
Architects are artists.
Athletes are entertainers.
And those who dance for a living...
God bless them.
Where would this society be?
If a carpenter had no creative abilities to use a tree.
The only people I observe who are tender and sweet.
Are those who do exactly as they are told.
Then complain and whine to everyone they meet.
And they are much too weak to do what I do!
But I will say...
Preferences?
I have a few of those.

Due to the political nature of film, partisan film making, especially where the subject is close to the film makers hart, tend to be the norm, rather than the exception.

Humor is, I think, the subtlest and chanciest of literary forms. It is surely not accidental that there are a thousand novelists, essayists, poets or journalists for each humorist. It is a long, long time between James Thurbers.

Good art theory must smell of the studio, although its language should differ from the household talk of painters and sculptors.

A Film For The Future
This is a film about the future
it it the future of your life
you think its certain
but nothing is certain
no
I know what you think you think this film is about you
well it isn't about you
i know what you think you think this film is about you
I never realised that this time is far now
it's clear to see that you are the leader now
that you're following a lost leader now
following a lost leader now

Malani Senehelatha Fonseka
She's listed among the best 25 performing Artists in Asia
And won numeral international awards for her best perfomance
in our local cinema.
I liked her best roles in 'Nidhanaya, Bambaru Avith and Akasa Kusum.'
Many Rolled Gold film stars approached her to be prominent
and failed.
Wife & myself saw her day before yesterday at La Mirada Theater.
[Udeni Liyanage's 'Swarnamaya Rathriyak(A dazzling night) ]
She's still photogenic and I think of her recent award winning film'Akasa Kusum'.(Flowers of the sky)
The entire role gives an exemplary of uncertainty of the mysterious life.

I think too many people look at the arts with a religious outlook. Arts, music, singing and performing, it's all make-believe.
