Manuel Rosales is being unjustly persecuted. He won't return to Venezuela under these circumstances, because Peru will never expel him.

In Venezuela, with Chavez, is really an incredible revolution - a democratic revolution. To begin to put in place things that are going to have an impact on the people of Venezuela. The property owners and the folks who then controlled the media in Venezuela rebelled - worked, frankly, with folks here in the U.S. government - worked to oust him. But he came back with another revolution, and then Chavez began to take very seriously the media in his country. And we've had complaints about this ever since.

Down the street in the alley
Her name was sally
She never saw it
When she was hit by space junk

There was an Old Man of Peru,
Who never knew what he should do;
So he tore off his hair,
And behaved like a bear,
That intrinsic Old Man of Peru.

People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, make them.

Like A Sticky Phlegm
life gets too sticky
to my throat, and like a cough
i insist to expel it,
but life has its own rules,
you cannot expel it
like phlegm
there are consequences
causes and effects
there are dogmas that
fence the wild imagination
there are metaphors
that can be forgiven
these guilty feelings
of abandon and welcomes
fear the skies
and know the wisdom of the
burying grounds
listen to the wind
it speaks in madness
hear the song of the solo leaf
this one must be
for you, lonesome fellow.

Manuel Comninos
One dreary September day
Emperor Manuel Komninos
felt his death was near.
The court astrologers -bribed, of course- went on babbling
about how many years he still had to live.
But while they were having their say,
he remebered an old religious custom
and ordered ecclesiastical vestments
to be brought from a monastery,
and he put them on, glad to assume
the modest image of a priest or monk.
Happy all those who believe,
and like Emperor Manuel end their lives
dressed modestly in their faith.

Mi Media Naranja
I am searching for my soul mate
Oh baby I know it’s not too late
Maybe try in a foreign tongue
The very reason for my song
Hey why not in Spanish…
Chorus:
Mi Media Naranja por donde encuentra
Madrid, Perú o Sri Lanka…
(interlude with Spanish guitar)
Oh I am not gonna vanish..
I climb mountains and dive a sea
So why not search an orange tree
Ying and Yang my high ambition
Oh on my love life’s mission
Chorus:
Mi Media Naranja por donde encuentra
Madrid, Perú o Sri Lanka…
(Interlude with Spanish guitar)
In Spanish a fine expression
Made me such an impression
My other half of orange fruit
I am now completely en route
Chorus:
Mi Media Naranja por donde encuentra
Madrid, Perú o Sri Lanka…
(interlude with Spanish guitar)
Life is mine to fully discover
Now on the hunt for new lover
A love anthem for any language
Just never be quick to judge
Chorus:
Mi Media Naranja por donde encuentra
Madrid, Perú o Sri Lanka…
(interlude with Spanish guitar)

Instead of focusing on that circumstances that you cannot change - focus strongly and powerfully on the circumstances that you can.
Man is not the creature of circumstances, circumstances are the creatures of men. We are free agents, and man is more powerful than matter.

The Near-Accident 7.31.2008
Margaret Alice drove into a pole this morning,
didn’t realize the car was badly injured, then
as she tried to drive home, felt the full force
of the near-accident: The wheel alignment was
out, the right front wheel completely skew, the
car wouldn’t go, the car park attendant directed
to the wheel alignment garage where Manuel -
Manuel Lennon – checked the car –
It is busted madame, you have to drive it to another
garage, Margaret Alice hysterical – the kids are at
school, who will take care of them? – I cannot drive,
the car’s wheels are all skew, said Schalk Jordaan –
we’ll drive the car to the garage, Manuel in your
car, we’ll take you there; I called Caroline, she
went to fetch Nici and Tiaan, Celeste at the garage –
this will cost you madame; I smiled, yes it will,
But my kids are safe; here is Barbara and Lieb,
they’ll take me home; took the number and
details of Manuel and Schalk who drove my
broken car all the way to the garage, I was too
shaken and scared to drive my little lame duck;
they took care of me and my car, made sure I
had a lift before they left – how can I thank them?
They’ll never know how much they meant
To the lady with the broken car – but in this poem
I’ll let them know how much their help meant!

Bystander
I am a bystander, a spectacle myself,
Who harms only when desired, fully desired;
I keep a stout opinion, after the love of another,
Minor opinions are aroused, after the love of people.
I lead and you expel, from the fountain that springs
From the earth so hot and angry, a bath has shaped
From my authority to celebrate the young nation.
By itself, a well has grown to expel and expulsion
Is wrong, too incorrect, for the water is not dirty.
A bath is my conjecture, the factor of worship,
Opinion after ideas fashions us afterwards.
