Game Over

Counters laid, last card played, final dice thrown,
Match over, time up, final whistle blown
Game packed up, set aside, for another day
Two players, now apart, gone separate ways.
She was too committed; he hardly cared
Often she played solo, few games were shared.

In the end time ran out, so did the fun
Lost cards, broken pieces, too soon it was done.
He made all the rules up; she played it straight
He lied and cheated, it was stale-mate
Lost opportunities, failed strategies
Game plan was forgotten, nothing would please

The game is now over, nobody won
Why does she sit and cry, wanting to play on?

Ms. Jackie Blue's

Ms. Jackie was limble
Ms. Jackie was quick
Ms. Jackie was strong
She thought she had life licked
Ms. Jackie was determined to never, ever quit
She seemed to struggled with life and what it reallly meant
Ms. Jackie would often try many of the get rich tricks
Ms. Jackie really believed that she. had found her nitch,
The nitch that was right,
A perfect fit,
to later find out that it wasn't quite legit
Ms. Jackie then lost mind and would often have fits
Relentlessly chanting of how she must not quit
Yet, Ms. Jackie still somehow embraced the counterfeits
Ms. Jackie claimed to be superior with supernatural whit
Adhereing to voices that one should forget
Sadly enough, even thou it is painful to admit,
That all the right people and her most close friends
Simply couldn't do nothing to help bring
Ms. Jackie's fire for life back once again

Is this your life, jackie brown?
Poorly educated and forced to live on the poor side of town.
Is this your daughter, jackie brown?
This pretty little girl
In the worn out clothes
That have been hand-me down.
Is this your wife, jackie brown?
With sad blue eyes, walking on eggshells so you dont see her frown.

Dream of vacationing on a mountain stream

The Failed Revolution

In my childhood’s town there was one neon light on top of a five storey building:
“Jesus Saves.” I asked mother what Jesus saved.”Souls, ” she said without looking
up, she was reading the communist manifesto, dreamed of the day when workers
would take over factories and throw into prison the obese capitalists. She tried to
emigrate, to the Soviet Union, but was turned down, she had no skills other than
putting sardines into a tin. Mother made rice pudding that day and I was allowed
to scrap the brown sticky residue in the pot. A famous rich capitalist is in jail,
in Siberia, It is nice place he has internet, sits in his shirt sleeves sends emails to
friends protesting his innocence. Accused of stealing oil from his own company,
I wonder how this is possible. No, not the revolution mother was dreaming about.
