When water reaches up to the nose, the calf is a swimmer.

Channel Swimmer
Well it's cold down here in the water
It's cold down here in the sea
Who'd be a channel swimmer?
Only a fool like me
I've greased my body
and I'm heading over the ocean
These two arms are the only locomotion
I need
See me swim and see me float
I don't need no motorboat
or a yacht to get me there
I'll do the breaststroke
and the backstroke
I'll do anything
I'll be swimming when you're all asleep
I'll be swimming when you're all awake
I'll do the sidestroke
the other sidestroke
I'll do the butterfly
But I ain't gonna crawl
on back to you, no way
I see your face in every breaker
I see your smile across the reef
I came across the sea to take you
Don't make me out to be a thief
You'll be dreaming when you're all asleep
But I'll be drowning when you're all awake
I did the breaststroke
I did my best stroke
I did everything
But I ain't good enough
'Cause it's cold down here in the water
It's cold down here in the sea
Who'd be a channel swimmer?
Only a fool like me
Who'd be a channel swimmer?
Only a fool like me...
would forget he can't swim

He doesn't see water, otherwise he is a skilled swimmer.
Being a swimmer and spending time in the water does not make you a fish.
Nose
No one cares for the nose
To go nose straight is the tao
If there were no eyes
You could see better with your nose
If there were no nose
you wouldnot distinguish the sweet from the bitter
And there would be no value judgements in the world
And it is the nose that keeps you hot in the cold
And that keeps you cold in Jakodabad
The nose is the vigilant customs officer
That does not allow any drug to your lungs
And the nose cannot be bribed
Oh Nose! the customs officer of the body
And the pivot of value judgement in the world
If that name thou love
Remain with us and teach the noseless world
That it must have a nose in this wartorn world
He who knows the greatness of nose
Surely goes to the realm of rose
In the life to come
Hurrah Let us compose hymns to nose

A Swimmer and a Crocodile
He wants to cross the river
But the ferryman is nowhere
The notice says Crocodiles and beware!
Swimmer in a clue.
An old crocodile came
And tears in its eyes.
'I was watching since in the morning
And I am so sorry,
Believe me I am a different one
Always help others
And if you don't mind
I can give you a ride
Before it gets dark.'
'I too scare of darkness
And I love rides but not in a rough weather uncle.'
Swimmer replied.

Know Your Mother
A cow knows which her calf is.
A calf knows which its cow is.
God knows me who see not Him.
Instead, I know my mother.

If your enemy is up to his waist in water, give him your hand; if the water reaches his shoulders, stand on his head.
The Calf and the Giraffe
Once upon a time was born a gentle brown-eyed calf
Who lived near a zoo and met a tall, wise giraffe.
The calf said to the tall, wise giraffe, “Come and run with me.”
The giraffe replied, “I can’t since I live within these walls you see.”
The confused brown-eyed calf asked, “Can’t they let you out.”
The giraffe smiled and asked, “Do you know what a zoo’s about? ”
The gentle calf said, “You did something wrong so you’re in jail.”
The wise giraffe laughed and explained that his was a happy tale.
He said, “For everyone who visits the zoo there’s so much joy I give.
As one day you’ll love your babies and teach them how to live.
So let’s enjoy every day and look forward to what’s in store.
Then both of us can give to others since that’s what life is for.”

Fountain of God's Grace
The water is there -
ever-flowing, bursting
singing, dripping, cascading…
The flow may be fast;
it maybe slow.
But the water is there
never emptied, never dried.
It flows to empty
and aching hearts.
It reaches out to
to the rich and mighty.
It embraces those
who are left with nothing
except the choice to come
closer to this fountain.
And yes, this fountain of God's grace
grants the water of hope, the water of life.

The Swimmer
IN dog-days plowmen quit their toil,
And frog-ponds in the meadow boil,
And grasses on the upland broil,
And all the coiling things uncoil,
And eggs and meats and Christians spoil.
A mile away the valley breaks
(So all good valleys do) and makes
A cool green water for hot heads' sakes,
And sundry sullen dog-days' aches.
The swimmer's body is white and clean,
It is washed by a water of deepest green
The color of leaves in a starlight scene,
And it is as white as the stars between.
But the swimmer's soul is a thing possessed,
His soul is naked as his breast,
Remembers not its east and west,
And ponders this way, I have guessed:
I have no home in the cruel heat
On alien soil that blisters feet.
This water is my native seat,
And more than ever cool and sweet,
So long by forfeiture escheat.
O my forgiving element!
I gash you to my heart's content
And never need be penitent,
So light you float me when breath is spent
And close again where my rude way went.
And now you close above my head,
And I lie low in a soft green bed
That dog-days never have visited.
'By the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread:'
The garden's curse is at last unsaid
What do I need of senses five?
Why eat, or drink, or sweat, or wive?
What do we strive for when we strive?
What do we live for when alive?
And what if I do not rise again,
Never to goad a heated brain
To hotter excesses of joy and pain?
Why should it be against the grain
To lie so cold and still and sane?
Water-bugs play shimmer-shimmer,
Naked body's just a glimmer,
Watch ticks every second grimmer:
Come to the top, O wicked swimmer!

On The Retirement Of Ian Thorpe
I heard on the radio in the sports news today
That Ian Thorpe the great swimmer has give competitive swimming away
A winner of nine Olympic medals five of them gold
Of his greatness in story and song we've been told
Australia's greatest ever swimmer if not the World's best
He was never found to be wanting when put to the test
But at twenty four years he said enough for me
At the World Championships and the Olympics him we'll never more see
At the prime of his life one might say a young man
But at top competitive swimming top swimmers do not have a long span
In the World of swimming he is an all time great
And his world Championship and Olympic victories Aussies did celebrate
A world renowned swimmer since he was a boy
And life after competitive swimming may he now enjoy.

Milkcow Calf Blues
(Robert Johnson)
Tell me, milk cow, what on earth is wrong with you?
Tell me, milk cow, what on earth is wrong with you?
Well, well, you have a new calf, hoo hoo, and your milk is turnin' blue
Your calf is hungry, and I believe he needs a suck
[Spoken:] Now, you know that calf done got hungry
Your calf is hungry, and I believe he needs a suck
Well, now, but the milk is turnin' blue, hoo hoo, and I believe he's outta luck
Now I feel like milkin' and my, cow won't come
I feel like churnin' it and my, milk won't turn
I'm cryin' plea-hease, please, don't do me wrong
You can give-a right milk and butter, now, baby, you-hoo, will stay at home
My milk cow been ramblin', hoo hoo, for miles around
My milk cow been ramblin', hoo hoo, for miles around
She been troublin' some other bull cow, hoo hoo
Lord, in this man's town

Water Never Has To Work
Water never has to work
He runs as he pleases
Pours on under winter ice
when his surface freezes
Merrily over rocks he goes
rocks on which others smash
Joyfully over waterfalls flows
Falls on which others crash.
Through granite faced gorges
None can hope to climb
Through different countries
no passport need he find
and when he reaches the salty sea
He's lifted up by the Sun.
Water through life easily floats
but bears several ton barges and boats
Water detached from every home
but shelters homeless
birds as he roams.
Water never strains nor worries
but empowers great water wheels.
Water has no duties but quenches
millions' thirst upon his banks.

On Wading Into Deeper Waters
Grains of sand,
Under your feet;
Slipping often,
Gives a feel
Of squirming worms
-Instability:
When in water
That’s quite deep!
Drops of water
Make the ocean,
And the lakes
And seas we see.
When once in it,
You can’t stay long;
Your lungs warn you
The need to rise!
Little fishes
Passing by,
Try to nibble
Your legs new-found;
For the swimmer,
Things are fine;
For the novice
-a watery grave!
Neck-deep water
All around,
Makes your head reel
In the noon sun;
And you know not
To where it flows:
A feeling of
Slipping beneath!

I Was Under The Water
A feeling of being free over came me.
Like I was flying high above everything.
I couldnt open my mouth to speak.
The rush of water filled my ears.
The water went in my nose.
The warm waters forgave me.
Brought me peace and joy.
What I didnt know I was under the water.
I was drowning in front of them.
Its too late to fight for air.
Slipping slowly underneath the water.
The last thing I see is you.
Your hands picking me up.
I rise my hand to meet you.
My body gave up.
And the water took my life.
As I wanted it to in the first place.

Be Glad Your Nose is on Your Face
Be glad your nose is on your face,
not pasted on some other place,
for if it were where it is not,
you might dislike your nose a lot.
Imagine if your precious nose
were sandwiched in between your toes,
that clearly would not be a treat,
for you'd be forced to smell your feet.
Your nose would be a source of dread
were it attached atop your head,
it soon would drive you to despair,
forever tickled by your hair.
Within your ear, your nose would be
an absolute catastrophe,
for when you were obliged to sneeze,
your brain would rattle from the breeze.
Your nose, instead, through thick and thin,
remains between your eyes and chin,
not pasted on some other place--
be glad your nose is on your face!

A Famous Dog Story
The story I am about to tell you it well may be true
For the one who told it to me for to give him his due
Is one who does not make up stories nor neither is he
One prone to imagine it would seem to me.
We were swapping dog stories myself and old Lew
Of dogs we heard tell of and dogs that we knew
Of dogs who are honoured in story and rhyme
The history of their greatness has lived on in time.
But the best dog story he told me was one I heard before
When I was a young school-boy going back five decades or more
The greatest dog story that he can recall
Perhaps is the greatest dog story of all.
A story from early Spring the weather was cold
The red shorthorn calf had strayed from her mother a young five days old
In the field by the farm-yard the cow bellowed around
But her calf did not reply and was not to be found.
The farmer searched for her with Shep his brown cattle dog
But no trace of the calf in the field by the bog
He then thought the calf may have strayed and in a bog hole drown
Still no trace of the young heifer though the bog he searched up and down.
But in the gray dawning of the very next day
Old Shep the brown dog to the yard made his way
With the red heifer calf suckling on the end of his tail
That the clever dog had dipped into a full milk pail.
The mother cow was delighted her calf she did lick
And none more relieved than the old farmer Mick
As he patted his dog you're a hero he did say
This a famous dog story that lives on today.
