The corpse of a bird does not decompose in flight, but on the ground.

Endless Flight
Writers: andrew gold
Keep me steady
Dont rock me all around
Lord, I dont wanna fall down
Understand me
I wish this jet was off the ground
Look around you
And tell me what you see
Are you afraid or is it me?
I hope we make it
I hope we dont fall in the sea
And its gonna be an endless flight
Until we reach the ground tonight
Yes its gonna be an endless flight I know
Like a flyinbird in the night
The wind is strong but I hope Im right
An this will be the end of this endless flight
Make me happy
Just let me see the light
I hope the runway time is near
The look the captain gave
Wasnt comfort and saw fear
Oh, what a fear
And its gonna be an endless flight
Until we reach the ground tonight
Yes its gonna be an endless flight I know
Like a flyin bird in the night
The wind is strong but I hope Im right
An this will be the end of this endless flight
And its gonna be an endless flight
Until we reach the ground tonight
Yes its gonna be an endless flight I know
Like a flyin bird in the night
The wind is strong but I hope Im right
An this will be the end of this endless flight
And its gonna be an endless flight
Until we reach the ground tonight
Yes its gonna be an endless flight I know
Like a flyin bird in the night
The wind is strong but I hope Im right
An this will be the end of this endless flight

Bird's Wings
The bird's wing levels for the summation,
It dived once more but now it flies straight;
This evening is its dinner and lunch,
Killing itself and its kids, forming a nest.
The wings of an animal work for the better,
Injured ones last not, they do not last at all
For the flight of a bird is accompanied by all.
Mighty winds sever the flight so wild and free,
In order to pack the several costumes of the breeze.
Freedom comes from everything and all of our guns
Are shooting the air like a bird's flight and its freedom.

Living Corpse
propulsion often decays into nothing
but stagnancy, the visit of eternity
next erupts to tranquillise my flesh
raising me from the ground
and my corpse jumps
and my corpse curses the prison
once more the ripping
fits the feet and the well-being
I am ransacked tonight.

Safe Ground
In my darkest hour
Reaching for the light
Wounded little bird
You caught me in mid flight
Thought I'd found a shelter
Midst life's stormy seas
But instead a place of dread
And once again I flee
To safer ground below me
I am standing on the earth
Others may demean me
But I know my true worth
This little bird has wings
The world can't hold her down
I think I'll skip another trip
Down the road to crazy town.

This Little Bird
John d loudermilk
Theres a little bird that somebody sends
Down to the earth to live on the wind.
Born on the wind and he sleeps on the wind
This little bird that somebody sends.
Hes light and fragile and feathered sky blue,
So thin and graceful the sun shines through.
This little bird who lives on the wind,
This little bird that somebody sends.
He flies so high up in the sky
Out of reach of human eye.
And the only time that he touches the ground
Is when that little bird
Is when that little bird
Is when that little bird dies.

Free Flight
Head on down the highway
Across the county line,
Ive had my fill of small town thrills
Gonna leave it all behind.
Free flight, free flight.
Im careless in my loving,
Shameless in my style,
If I get caught by the short n curlies
Ill just hide out for awhile.
Free flight, free flight.
On an on the road goes on
Itll go on forever,
An just the same Ill live my life,
Hell bent for leather.
Free flight, free flight.
Heaven knows its driving me crazy,
Its a feeling inside.
Heaven knows its in my blood
As long as I try, I just cant deny.
Free flight, come tomorrow dawn youll find me gone.
Free flight, make no bones about it, Im moving on.
Free flight, free flight, free flight.
Free flight, free flight, free flight.
Head on down the highway
Suitcase in your hand,
When you get down with your feet on the ground
I know youll understand.
Free flight, free flight.
Heaven knows its driving me crazy,
Its a feeling thats driving me wild.
Heaven knows its in my blood,
Fool if you try, you just cant deny.
Free flight, come tomorrow dawn youll find me gone.
Free flight, make no bones about it, Im moving on.
(solo)
Free flight, free flight, free flight...

Strange Bird
Strange bird
By: jimmy buffett, jay oliver
1989
Half fast and seldom seen
He dont blip the radar screen
On the deck below the dune
Under the commanders moon
Strange bird from a different nest
Flying low not like all of the rest
God only knows where the strange bird goes when hes flying
Everybodys trying to find him
But they dont know where to start
The ornithologist lady says that he has wings on his heart
Chorus:
Strange bird from a different nest
Flying low not like all of the rest
If you cant catch him you cant name him
If you cant see him you cant claim him
Stay on the ground or he will shoot you down
Wings on his heart, hes a strange bird
Frequent flyer, seldom seen
High above the caribbean
In my day Ive met a few but hes the strangest bird thats true
Chorus:
Strange bird from a different nest
Flying low not like all of the rest
If you cant catch him you cant name him
If you cant see him you cant claim him
Stay on the ground or he will shoot you down
Wings on his heart, hes a strange bird
But hes in love with the lady of the waters
And she lives somewhere up around cheauxvan
Hes gonna circle high above her runway of love
Until she gives him her permission to land
Chorus:
Strange bird from a different nest
Flying low not like all of the rest
If you cant catch him you cant name him
If you cant see him you cant claim him
Stay on the ground or he will shoot you down
Wings on his heart, hes a strange bird
Watch out girl, hes a strange bird
Strange bird flying low
cross the gulf of mexico
Strange bird not like all the rest
Watch out girl hes a strange bird
Shoot you down, hes a strange bird
Its a bird, its a plane, its a strange bird

A Petrel And a Penguin
The proud petrel
with strong mettle
flew over the sea.
Throwing his litters on the rocks
he watched the clumsy penguin’s walks.
The stupid penguin looked at the sky.
How much he wished to fly!
He had heard
he was also a bird.
If he could fly
he would proudly throw his litter
from the bird’s eye.
The moral of this song:
Remember to what kind of bird you belong.
Am I right?
A bird is known by it’s flight.

The Bird
A wounded bird stripped of flight
Upon the ground hopped and sang
A call to help a despairing plea
‘Oh please let belief bring a saviour to me’
It sang so beautifully and so sweet
While cradling its broken wing
The eyes which darted saw so much
To know and behold a world so vast
Then she came as though from nowhere
A girl with the tender touch to heal
Softly she took into her hands
And nursed so gently while she sang
‘Singer of beauty fly once more
Do not cry nor feel afraid
It is the belief you call out to
Which brought my heart to you’
Into a cage the bird was placed
And ate, sang then rested safe
The wing did heal so to fly again
She opened wide the cage
To see the bird fly away into the sky
She smiled and said goodbye
Some things are to be kept
Others are only meant to fly

What Survives
Who says that all must vanish?
Who knows, perhaps the flight
of the bird you wound remains,
and perhaps flowers survive
caresses in us, in their ground.
It isn't the gesture that lasts,
but it dresses you again in gold
armor --from breast to knees--
and the battle was so pure
an Angel wears it after you.

Gliding In The Air
A bird is wrestling the wind with its feathers,
Even then the flight is smooth, as smooth as the air.
Best of the eagles are against the flight of others,
Eventually they look like a mouth, as smooth as the air.
A strange spectacle has been captured in the rain,
After a bird, not reptile, does fly south, as smooth as the air.
When strangers bespeak a multifarious journey through the air,
I gather it is more than just levitation or youth, as smooth as the air.
I love the young journey to the east,
A happy rhythm up north, as smooth as the air.
Why do we hesitate to look powerful?
When we glide in the sky, as smooth as the air.

Dead Meat
Cut into bits, the muscles drip and drip
Pools of blood plated on polystyrene.
The transparent film holding them down sips
The liquid staining its color, its sheen
Of glossy plastic sitting so serene
As if vacuum-sealed for silent repose.
The slivers of corpse will become cuisine
When in consumer hands, and so it goes.
The wrapping will be sliced. It will expose
The limp, artuated lumps of tissue
That, in fresh air, begin to decompose,
Spoiling in refrigerated mildew.
They'll toss the flayed strips swiftly in pan heat,
Boiling and browning the sheets of dead meat.

But a lot of that kind of work is done pre-flight, coordinating efforts with the flight directors and the ground teams, and figuring out how you're going to operate together.

The Red Bird Lives
A red bird lands to rest
Upon a tree branch.
The red bird chirps
For his sibling,
The cat takes notice, quietly
It watches his prey,
The cat figure it had his
Dinner..
Slowly the cat takes aim
And leaps for the red bird.
The red bird takes flight to
To join his sibling.
The cats loses,
But the red bird lives to chirp
Chirp another day..
The cat meow while his stomach
Growls,
The cat watches for another
Chance to feed his hungry
Stomach..
So, the cat meows hoping
For a meal,
To cure his empty stomach..

Fly
Set yourself on a movie screen
play any part or be anything
know what i mean
its all about right its all
its all about wrong
about you and me and how to get along
ya gotta wake up
work hard and take a deep breath
open your heart and never forget
ya gotta fly
break the chains that bind you to the ground and try
to let it go be happy with what you found
fly mend your broken wing so you can take flight
and if you wanna go I'll go there with ya tonight
ya gotta fly
break the chains that bind you to the ground and try
to let it go be happy with what you found
fly mend your broken wing so you can take flight
and if you wanna go I'll go there with ya tonight
ya gotta fly yah just FLY!
i remember walkin down rodeo drive
when i was younger
i used to push the limits of life
but when i grew somthing changed inside
i saw the color of money take over so many lives
i know alot of us would like to believe
but theres too many of us thats parted by prejudice
when you look in the mirror who do you see
is it somebody else
or who you really wanna be
ya gotta fly
break the chains that bind you to the ground and try
to let it go be happy with what you found
fly mend your broken wing so you can take flight
and if you wanna go I'll go there with ya tonight
ya gotta fly
break the chains that bind you to the ground and try
to let it go be happy with what you found
fly mend your broken wing so you can take flight
and if you wanna go I'll go there with ya tonight
ya gotta fly yah just FLY!
not always easy livin in a world of pain
got me running into brickwalls again and again
ya say you need a break and a change from this life
ya gotta fly
break the chains that bind you to the ground and try
to let it go be happy with what you found
fly mend your broken wing so you can take flight
and if you wanna go I'll go there with ya tonight
ya gotta fly yah just FLY!

A walking corpse
I walk around like a zombie.
A reflection of a corpse.
Like Im in a body thats not mine.
A body depression has invaded.
Im a reflection of a corpse.
So numb and dead inside.
Not being able to feel.
Trapped in a body.
That once used to be mine.
Now its like its someone elses.
Im a walking corpse.
So very dead inside.
As numb as numb
Number than Ice.
Depression has over road.
And overtaken me.
Its made me like a walking corpse.
I may aswell be dead.
Thats how I feel inside.
A excellent resembalence
Of a walking corpse.
Mabey I can fight it
But that I very much doubt.
I have had to fight to many demons.
One more I cant fight this yet.
Im a walking corpse.
Dead inside.
A marvolos resembalence.
Of a walking corpse

Nectar Sweet
My humming bird heart
beats for you
faster still with you in sight;
but you my flower
elude me.
I flutter
mid-air in flight
above other flowers
but no nectar drips from my beak's visit;
no matter how far I plunge
toward some flower's-center
it's not yours, and I retreat.
I pause,
flutter away
without that sweet juice of yours
I crave.
Possessing it is my Obsessions' Obsession.
Nothing deters my eye
from my flower-mission;
neither cat
nor rival bird
challenge me
when they espy my determined ire,
as I put my sharpened beak on display,
exhibiting to them my humming bird speed
and my reckless need.
No, they shrink
away
with second thoughts
and leave me to my nectar quest.
Some flowers are beautiful,
but none so beautiful as yours;
this is set in me for all time-
even if I,
nectarless,
become weak and falter-
no longer able to fly
and plunge spiraling to the ground;
I will have you my sweet
or no nectar at all.

Behnd the Wall of Sleep/Wasp
Precious cups within the flower
deadly petals with strange power
faces shine a deadly smile
back up on you at your trial
Chill and numbs from head to toe
icy sun with frosty glow
Why'd you go reaching your sorrow?
why'd you go read no tomorrow
Feel your spirit rise with the priest
feel your body falling to its knees
Take your walk of remorse
take your body to a corpse
take your body to a corpse
take your body to a corpse
if you want all remorse
take your body to a corpse
Now from darkness

Ay De Mi
O bird, that used to press,
Thy head against my cheek
With touch that seem'd to speak,
And ask a tender 'yes' -
Ay de mi, my bird:
Ay de mi, my bird, my bird -
Ay de mi, my bird.
O tender downy breast,
And warmly beating heart,
That beating seem'd a part
Of me who gave it rest -
Ay de mi, my bird:
Ay de mi, my bird, my bird -
Ay de mi, my bird.

The Flask of Time
There is a single leaf flying
in this my autumn gloaming,
a leaf fluttering light
as if being orchestrated
by your words in flight
rushing to my inner ear;
'I have fallen in love
with another you said.'
My leaf stammered,
swaying in its downward flight
unable to remount the tree,
terrified to crash the ground
suspended forever there
as was also true of your words;
better to not reach my inner ear
better to not have my leaf touch down dead.
Between us all these years
neither war, nor peace;
we existed in the troubled middle ground
purgatoried, unsensed, fluttering, leaf bound
frozen between tree and ground.
Now you have burned our tree down-
lit the leaf and made it flame-
and pulled from under us the very ground.
No matter the dead leaves, the burning tree
no matter the absent ground
these things will
in turn return
for the seasons never-end.
Therefore, I shall take my sip of sorrow
sipped slowly from my Flask of Time
and await
the Spring.
