No river can return to its source, yet all rivers must have a beginning.

Not About This

It is not about the classic rivers
of mythology, not about Acheron,
river of woe with its lines of unemployed
holding their migraines in their hands.

Or Cocytus, river of lamentation
where the elderly have gone
to grieve their condition.

It cannot be this.

Not the river of fire,
the lava flowing from another volcanic shudder
into the homes of the living & the dead,
& into the stories of new generations.

For these are byproducts,

shining as they are-

It is not about the river of forgetfulness,
inviting as the night visits the tortured mind.
No, not this, or the waters of hate
& the butchered bodies stacked along shorelines
& the lost women trying to find their sons,

or the river of return,

not the red river of consolation
wound about the heart
& through the vineyards,
or how our loves came to be,
then left us again to ourselves.

It is not about the oldest & saddest river,
the river of time, with flashes of metallic film
sliding by, gathering momentum
& the sufaces of faces,
the faces of phantoms,
(I have seen myself among them.)

It cannot be about theology,
or if it is, it is the theology of celestial mechanics,
the giant narrative of everything,
the source of energy, (& its forms,)
crunching itself out through the heavens.

Our Magical River

At the break of dawn we took a stroll
along the river of tears
It was a wild river, with a glittering current
To take away your fears

The river seems such a magical thing
With the forest set in it's front
Silver streams painted with variable flowers
It was like finding the treasure in a treasure hunt

As we walked beside the flowing river
It's ripples beckoned to us
Sparkling and shining, calling our names
With the sound of lust

Every river has it's beginning
But this one had no end
Merging together like long lost loves
as you come around the rivers bend

We stopped and stood
and stared in awe
At the beauty of the merging rivers
And the love for which we saw

All The Rivers

'All the rivers run into the sea.'
Like the pulsing of a river,
The motion of a song,
Wind the olden words along
The tortuous turnings of my thoughts whenever
I sit beside the sea.

'All the rivers run into the sea.'
O you little leaping river,
Laugh on beneath your breath!
With a heart as deep as death,
Strong stream, go patient, grave, and hasting never,-
I sit beside the sea.

'All the rivers run into the sea.'
Why the passion of a river?
The striving of a soul?
Calm the eternal waters roll
Upon the eternal shore. At last, whatever
Seeks it-finds the sea.

'All the rivers run into the sea.'
O thou bounding, burning river,
Hurrying heart! I seem
To know (so one knows in a dream)
That in the waiting heart of God forever,
Thou too shalt find the sea.

Please Do Not Ask Me How A River Feels

children bathe in the river.
we were children once, we bathe in the river
we float and go with the flow of the river
we lied to mother we were afraid of father
but we were children once and we bathed in the river
we all know how a river felt
throughout our bodies

time runs like a river how many times shall i tell you that

we had mud all over
we were once children we grow to be men
strong arms and swift feet
we caught fish

we claim to be men with responsibilities
we are still children at heart we still feel the rivers running on our skins
i know, i still know how a river feels
time does not know how to kill the feel of rivers

do not ask me then if i have forgotten the river
we are men with responsibilities we have gone away
far from what we are

the river still flows and it will never stop

Don't Make the River Home

Don’t make the river home.
Rivers can turn wild,
Tossing you about with no care for how you land,
Bashing your bones once you do.

Rivers rage with
Perilous potency
That rends limbs and souls;
Sudden fury to blind or behold.

The river can heal,
Sustain life,
Then jerk it away in a flashing splash.
Visit the river

Don’t make the river home.

Psychotic

To provoke a river, a river of psychosis,
Is to madden the puberty of religion;
I braise a brick of meat with oil to sew
The rivers of juice into the morsel.
To grip is to be busy with seconds I love,
Rivers of love ask us in displeasure.
A psychopath has realms of imagination,
From the rivers of impurity and hate.
Let me outwit the conversationalist,
Who staggers at my speech of psychotic words.

The River

The river sways in time with us,
When it is too late the water gets violent;
Angrier, the river aborts the laughter
And fixes the wounds of the mouth.
The river now stays still to adore,
Adoration reminds the river,
Thus the river is caused to behave
And not be aggressive on us.
The real river is upon us,
Deeper rivers find it funny
Why your own ocean is so old.

Return Trip

I will return to my place of Birth
To that place before Mother Earth
I will return to that Day of Awakening
To that Day of a New Beginning

I will return to my very first Sun
My very first Moon, my very first Star
I will return to that place that never was far

I will return to the land of the Beautiful,
the Good, the Grateful
Where there is nothing to forgive
For there is no sin
Where there is no regret
Life is what you dream

Where Innocence is never put to test
Where all is Sacred and blessed with Happiness

I will return to my place and time of Birth
I will return
I am not Cursed

The River

I am a river flowing from God’s sea
Through devious ways. He mapped my course for me;
I cannot change it; mine alone the toil
To keep the waters free from grime and soil
The winding river ends where it began;
And when my life had compassed its brief span
I must return to that mysterious source.
So let me gather daily on my course
The perfume from the blossoms as I pass,
Balm from the pines, and healing from the grass,
And carry down my current as I go
Not common stones but precious gems to show;
And tears (the holy water from sad eyes)
Back to God’s sea, from which all rivers rise,
Let me convey, not blood from wounded hearts,
Nor poison which the upas-tree imparts.
When over flowery vales I leap with joy,
Let me not devastate them, nor destroy,
But rather leave them fairer to the sight;
Mine be the lot to comfort and delight.
And if down awful chasms I needs must leap,
Let me not murmur at my lot, but sweep
On bravely to the end without one fear,
Knowing that He who planned my ways stands near.
For Love is all, and over all. Amen.

The beginning and the end
Every moment the beginning and the end
Every breath the beginning and the end
Every thought the beginning end the end

Every feeling the beginning and the end
Every choice the beginning and the end
Every action he beginning and the end
Every breath the beginning and the end

I know a river

I know a river;
long before I began to hold a pen
those days of-
-'twinkle, twinkle little star'
I know a river;
A river of words;
not river-benue or river-niger
But its a river that flows in human-imagination
And a paper is made as a boat
-paddled with pen
To sail a message to the earth
From heaven's gate
-a lullaby to the infant and wise-words to the adult
I know a river;
Shakespeare and others've been to the river
-they took their bathe and left
Today,
Here I stood by the river bank,
With my colleagues Akewusola habib, Oludipe samuel,
muhammad-ahmad
-Rasak-malik-Gbolahan, Randy michael, Oloidi kingfemi and others
In the young of our days
Bathing in the river of words
Though we're nude in the river
But we're clothe with our imaginations
I know a river;
A river from solomon's source
Now I am swimmer,
-in its floods

Our River Clyde

From it's original source in the Lowther hills,
If you listen closely you'll hear her shrills,
It's the great divide between north and south,
At the Firth of Clyde is the rivers mouth.

The river Clyde could tell many a story,
Sailing and shipbuilding in all of its glory,
From warships to liners like the Q.E.2.
All built by the finest craftsmen too.

Throughout her history she's been well portrayed,
From the mills to the cotton and tobacco trade,
Many a merchant made their fortune from here,
She's a natural beauty we must forever revere.

She has flowed for centuries never taking a rest,
A beautiful river, full of life full of zest,
The paddle steamers used her for many years,
Those memories are still what truly endears.

The Waverley steamer still sails to this day,
From the Clyde to the sea she knows her own way,
On to Dunoon, Saltcoats then Loch Fyne,
There's the beautiful scenery which is truly divine.

We must treat her well she's a valuable resource,
If we choose to ignore her there'll be no recourse,
It's up to the people if the Clyde's to survive,
We must all do our best to keep her alive.

We must all ensure she is put to good use,
No more pollution no more suffering abuse,
We either use her or lose her that is a fact,
Our river could die unless we all act.

Industry will return that we can tell,
A museum of transport new housing as well,
Once again she'll be put to the test,
With flying colours she'll be back to her best.

She has served our fair city with pride and with grace,
Despite all the changes she's kept up with the pace,
She is long and slender at the sea she flows wide,
She's a wonderful waterway is,

The River, Grace

Lift me up,
Take me down
From my rack.
Suspended on meat hooks
Just under my shoulder blades,
The weight of me hangs.

The river comes to me.
The river flows on.

Grace wakes up,
Says, “I will watch with you
We will be watchers
Together.”

Take me down.
Let the river run
Through my wounds;
Cleanse;
Heal.

The river comes.
The river flows.

Wash out all the refuse;
Toxic trash flushed away
Forever from me
Clear
Free

The river comes.
The river flows.

Fill me up with goodness.
Purity, rush into these holes;
Saturate in light, then
Stop up the access,
Make me whole.

River, come to me.
River, flow on.

And the river is God’s Gift.
And the river is Grace.
Lay me new baptized
In the tall grass
On the bank
Let me hear
Talking light
Beat back the night.

They sing of your source,
Your redemption renowned.
Now I join the chorus.

And the river, God’s gift,
Lift me up.
And the river, Grace
Carry me on.

My friend
I look inside my heart
I look inside my soul
I promise you
I will return
And when the lamb opened the seventh seal
Silence covered the sky
Take me back to the rivers of belief
Take me back to the rivers of belief
My friend
I look inside my heart

Dog River Blues

Well I first kissed you on a hollow log
Down by the river they call the dog
We fell in love and we vowed that day
Like the flow of the river our love wont change
Well we married that spring and we built a house
On the bank of the river where the rock juts out
Now the rivers still here but youre long gone
You left me and the river here all alone
I got the dog river blues
Ive walked holes in both my shoes
Now I still got the river but I aint got you
I got the dog river blues
Well the rain came down and the river rose up
Filled up the cab on my pickup truck
It came in the house and down the hall
And washed your picture right off the wall
Chorus
Well my heart still yearns and the river still rolls
And I pray someday itll bring you home
So if you change your mind honey Ill be here
Waiting on the banks of that oldog river
Chorus

The Rivers of a Poet

The Rivers of the Poet

The verses of the poet
vary from the rivers
though they also flow
while circulating inside
until materializing
in words and verses
that others can see.

The poet’s soul communions
with the exterior world
and flows like the rivers
with each inspiration.

The rivers of the poet
do dry inside of him
as he writes,
but it is forever
that they flow in written form
upon the sheets of paper.

That is how
the rivers of the poet
leave and manage to stay
until another river
appears and flows
with another inspiration.

The Sea and the River

Since the first day
(The beginning of time) ,
The river and the sea
Are relevantly prime.

The sea needs the river
And the river needs the sea.
Such co-dependence
Was meant to be.

Hand-in-hand,
Unspeakably strong—
With one heart,
They venture along.

An awesome team.
A force in the earth.
The sea and the river—
Of invaluable worth.

Return To Innocence

(curly m.c.)
.
Ami chant
Thats not the beginning of the end
Thats the return to yourself
The return to innocence.
Love - devotion
Feeling - emotion
.
Love - devotion
Feeling - emotion
.
Dont be afraid to be weak
Dont be too proud to be strong
Just look into your heart my friend
That will be the return to yourself
The return to innocence
.
If you want, then start to laugh
If you must, then start to cry
Be yourself dont hide
Just believe in destiny
.
Dont care what people say
Just follow your own way
Dont give up and use the chance
To return to innocence
.
Thats not the beginning of the end
Thats the return to yourself
The return to innocence
.
Dont care what people say
Follow just your own way
Follow just your own way
Dont give up, dont give up
To return, to return to innocence.
If you want then laugh
If you must then cry
Be yourself dont hide
Just believe in destiny.
