The Spice-Tree

This is the song
The spice-tree sings:
"Hunger and fire,
Hunger and fire,
Sky-born Beauty—
Spice of desire,"
Under the spice-tree
Watch and wait,
Burning maidens
And lads that mate.

The spice-tree spreads
And its boughs come down
Shadowing village and farm and town.
And none can see
But the pure of heart
The great green leaves
And the boughs descending,
And hear the song that is never ending.

The deep roots whisper,
The branches say:—
"Love to-morrow,
And love to-day,
And till Heaven's day,
And till Heaven's day."

The moon is a bird's nest in its branches,
The moon is hung in its topmost spaces.
And there, to-night, two doves play house
While lovers watch with uplifted faces.
Two doves go home
To their nest, the moon.
It is woven of twigs of broken light,
With threads of scarlet and threads of gray
And a lining of down for silk delight.
To their Eden, the moon, fly home our doves,
Up through the boughs of the great spice-tree;—
And one is the kiss I took from you,
And one is the kiss you gave to me.

Whose design is this?

How, if food is without spice?
How, if life goes without spice?
Spice is variety.
Variety is option for change.
The left out one is cursed
And the one acquired is blessed.
The user is ever jubilant.

Wanting, not the want is the cause.

Hunger for porridge, hunger for desserts,
Or hunger for wine makes one steal.
Hunger for shelter, hunger for power,
Or hunger for sex makes one steal.
Hunger dies not. So is the stealing.

I am not hungry

I am not hungry
Hunger is not mine
I am free from hunger.
Hunger is a butterfly
Come to it and welcome it
Wonderland you reach
Without hunger
You could not move an inch
And how you changed yourself
Hunger will tell
Wait a minute.

Born With The Hunger

Hear the coyote howl
He's found his pray at last
In one moment of weakness
The chase is over so fast
He celebrates his kill
No mercy in his eyes
When you're born with the hunger
The hunger never dies
Midnight is on the prowl
And I hear it call my name
Danger lurks in the shadows
But it's all part of a game
Until I quench this thirst
I will not close these eyes
When you're born with the hunger
The hunger never dies
You and I, we're the same
We both carry this flame
To depths of our souls
Once the fever awakes
We can never escape
It's beyond our control
We're both born with the hunger
Oh with the hunger
Temptation bites your lip
One kiss ignites the fire
So begins the seduction
As we succumb to desire
Your body aches for more
Why are you so surprised
When you're born with the hunger
The hunger never dies
When you're born with the hunger
The hunger - it never dies
Never dies
When you're born with the hunger It never dies
When you're born with the hunger Oh, it never dies
He celebrates the kill
You're born with the hunger
It never dies

The hunger

the hunger thinks the rice
can chew both skin and bone
the hunger thinks it's nice
to eat although forlorn

the hunger thinks the corn
can swallow ears and eyes
deaf blind hunger born
self eaten within it dies

the hunger thinks the food
is just a body's unfair breath
the hunger knows the interlude
no food the body eats itself

the hunger thinks the body rotten
is just a place to survive and eat
the hunger of the lost and forgotten
makes its way to the last heart beat

The talking animal's

As I become, a fictitious narrative.
Creating a fable story, about a dog, cat and a mice.
The dog name Bog, the cat name Spat, and the mice is Spice.

Bog said to Spat, why are you chasing Spice?
Spat said, because, I want some of that rodent slice's.
So, you want to cut him into piece's.
I am hungry, Bog! Spice come to me, I protect you?
Okay Bog, I hope you really, going to protect me.

Spat get back, please! I don't want to hurt you?
So you think im a cat; I can't beat you?
We going to find out, Spat the big alley cat.
Bog the little mutt; you a bluff Bog.

Spat, end up, chasing the both of them.

Either way one is restless

Power of hunger in some is so deep
that it is insatiate with rich food.
Power of lust in some is likewise.
It does not rest with an able better half.
Hunger for power or sex in some is so,
And never deplete though fed, till the end.

Power of hunger, power of lust
and hunger for power, hunger for lust
are restless and endless.

On a Small Touch of Hunger

A small touch of hunger sometimes is good
True hunger in truth never being good
While flase hunger is something for which to watch
Food being the great drug of our time
With which we anesthetize much more than hunger
Beware food as a drug which masks the deeper pain.

A Recipe

I found the best joint of beef, put him on ice,
just until I was hungry,
warmed the pot with a little spice...nice,
I do like some spice
and then, put the oven on to heat.
Took the big, fresh man out of the cooler
let him simmer for about a month
while I teased, prodded and skewered
with my wit and charms,
to see if he were done, yum, yum
Then when he was very hot and tender,
cooked right through to the bone,
I served him up with all the trimmings.
He looked so juicy sitting by the fireplace
I just couldn't help myself,
I gorged on his flesh until he was all gone.

Hungry

I hunger
lying on my bed
in the shaded dark.

I hunger for you,
my stomach
wrenching
and I verge
on crying
the need so intense.

I roll
sideways
in the bed,
I flail
my arms
lift and slam them down
by my side
as I try to pound
that hunger away.

I hunger for you.

I need.

I walk to the bathroom
and peer at the face
to see what need looks like.

It is gaunt.

It is sleepy eyed.

it is unflattering.

I whirl away;
can't look.
and I sit
down
head in hand;
can't go back to bed
and can't continue to just sit.

I'm already back in the room
my hand on the phone.

It rings.

I say
'Oh nothing
I was just thinking about you.'

From Hunger

Its never your fault, sweet mother
That I was raised in the days
Of the house-husband craze
But the taste of your loving udder
Was replaced by another
Dried cow puss and rubber
And now a hunger still thrives
A hunger that Ive never satisfied
Im fumbling through life
From hunger
I writhe for someone
With a place I can hide my eyes
Im searching for a mighty heart
Housed with a mighty crest
And from this base of operation
I would pacify the nation
But then who would rely
On a boob such as i
Ill be anyones twit
For a mouthful of tittie
And still that hunger will thrive
A hunger that Ive never satisfied
Im fumbling through life
From hunger
I writhe for someone
With a place I can hide my eyes
And Ive got big eyes
For someone
With a place I can hide these eyes
And that aint all

Runnin

One affair wont make a lover,
Kisses never meant that you were givin up your soul.
I want to taste the spice of another,
I wanna taste my life, so, I remember when Im old.
Why Im ...
Im runnin through my lifetime,
You can see it your way and Ill see it mine.
Im runnin through my lifetime,
Ive got to stay out in the race so I dont go out of my mind.
Hunger in the eyes of the teacher,
Today he wants to feel the things his mamma made him hide.
Now its comin out all over that old preacher,
Livin never meant no more than waitin til he dies.
So Im ...
Im runnin through my lifetime,
Im runnin fast, I wont get far behind.
Im runnin through my lifetime,
Ive got to stay out in the race so I dont go out of my mind.
Beware! beware!
Im a friend to those who share me and Im a threat to those who dare me.
Beware! beware!
I can help if you need me and I can run if you try to keep me.
Im runnin through my lifetime,
You can see it your way and Ill see it mine.
Im runnin through my lifetime,
Ive got to stay out in the race so I dont know go out of my mind.
Im runnin, Im runnin, runnin, runnin.
Runnin.
...?
Runnin.
Runnin.
... kisses never meant that I would give you my soul.
Runnin.
Runnin.
... I want to taste the spice.
Runnin.
... I want to taste my life.
Runnin.
So, Ill remember when Im old,
Runnin.
Runnin.
...?
Runnin.
...?
Runnin.
...?
Runnin.

Looking East

Standing in the ocean with the sun burning low in the west
Like a fire in the cavernous darkness at the heart of the beast
With my beliefs and possessions, stopped at the frontier in my chest
At the edge of my country, my back to the sea, looking east
Where the search for the truth is conducted with a wink and a nod
And where power and position are equated with the grace of god
These times are famine for the soul while for the senses its a feast
From the edge of my country, as far as you see, looking east
Hunger in the midnight, hunger at the stroke of noon
Hunger in the mansion, hunger in the rented room
Hunger on the tv, hunger on the printed page
And theres a god-sized hunger underneath the laughing and the rage
In the absence of light
And the deepening night
Where I wait for the sun
Looking east
How long have I left my mind to the powers that be?
How long will it take to find the higher power moving in me?
Power in the insect
Power in the sea
Power in the snow falling silently
Power in the blossom
Power in the stone
Power in the song being sung alone
Power in the wheatfield
Power in the rain
Power in the sunlight and the hurricane
Power in the silence
Power in the flame
Power in the sound of the lovers name
The power of the sunrise and the power of a prayer released
On the edge of my country, I pray for the ones with the least
Hunger in the midnight, hunger at the stroke of noon
Hunger in the banquet, hunger in the bride and groom
Hunger on the tv, hunger on the printed page
And theres a god-sized hunger underneath the questions of the age
And an absence of light
In the deepening night
Where I wait for the sun
Looking east
