Stay still like a heron

Stay still like a heron in an unfavorable situation,
Later act swiftly in appropriate time and get things done
As if the heron waits patiently with one leg,
Picks fast and seizes the fish.

Better Not To Cheat

You cannot cheat conscience;
You can silence it though.
You cannot cheat the Nature;
You cannot silence it either.
You can cheat on your wife
But not beyond suspicion.
Better don’t cheat to get imbalanced.

Ballads on Mr. Heron's Election - Ballad First

Whom will you send to London town,
To Parliament and a' that?
Or wha in a' the country round
The best deserves to fa' that?
For a' that, and a' that,
Thro' Galloway and a' that,
Where is the Laird or belted Knight
The best deserves to fa' that?

Wha sees Kerroughtree's open yett,
(And wha is't never saw that?)
Wha ever wi' Kerroughtree met,
And has a doubt of a' that?
For a' that, and a' that,
Here's Heron yet for a' that!
The independent patriot,
The honest man, and a' that.

Tho' wit and worth, in either sex,
Saint Mary's Isle can shaw that,
Wi' Dukes and Lords let Selkirk mix,
And weel does Selkirk fa' that.
For a' that, and a' that,
Here's Heron yet for a' that!
The independent commoner
Shall be the man for a' that.

But why should we to Nobles jouk,
And is't against the law, that?
For why, a Lord may be a gowk,
Wi' ribband, star and a' that,
For a' that, and a' that,
Here's Heron yet for a' that!
A Lord may be a lousy loun,
Wi' ribband, star and a' that.

A beardless boy comes o'er the hills,
Wi' uncle's purse and a' that;
But we'll hae ane frae mang oursels,
A man we ken, and a' that.
For a' that, and a' that,
Here's Heron yet for a' that!
For we're not to be bought and sold,
Like naigs, and nowt, and a' that.

Then let us drink-The Stewartry,
Kerroughtree's laird, and a' that,
Our representative to be,
For weel he's worthy a' that.
For a' that, and a' that,
Here's Heron yet for a' that!
A House of Commons such as he,
They wad be blest that saw that.

The Indian Springs

I KNOW a shady hollow 'neath the pines,
Rich floored with velvet moss and trailing vines,
Where grouping ferns grow lusty, tall, and green,
With sipping from the bowl o'er which they lean;
And crimson berries on the margin cling,
Like drops of blood about the Indian spring.

On this same spot these many years ago
A graceful figure knelt and, bending low,
Wrist-deep in moss, one hand curved to a cup,
The water to her scarlet lips dipped up.
A heron's wing drooped from her dusky hair,
Which draped her rich-hued cheeks and shoulders bare.

Swift, stealthy footsteps took her by surprise;
She started, flushed, and met his eager eyes,—
A noble figure, young and lithe and tall,
With one proud eagle feather crowning all.
A pause, a word, and lo! the heron's wing
Brushed with the eagle's there above the spring.

Two cruel eyes gleamed from the piny shade,
Fixed on the bended heads of man and maid;
Sudden, a gray goose feather with a twang
Of hate and envy from the darkness sprang.
One shrilling cry—the heron wing was fled;
Low lay the eagle plume; the spring ran red.

The years have gone; new mosses veil the ground,
New ferns, new vines:—but here the spring I found,
And here the gray goose shalt its story told,—
A heart of flint 'neath moss and years of mold
And vines to which the blood-red berries cling,
I found an arrow by the Indian spring.

Lighthouse

lighthouse...
tossed by the waves,
pitch black sky, no stars.

too rough to row,
holding on for dear life.
said a quick prayer...

my eyes fixed on
the beacon... my heart
fixed on you!

Gradually, It Happens

gradually we like how dead things rise from their ashes
managing to take a shape like the neck of the heron
the white long neck of the heron
amidst the green rice fields just below a crumple of blue clouds
and then the sun slowly rises from the hills that look like
breasts of a woman just awaking from a very deep sleep
beside her lover who is too drunk from the many jugs
of happy moments which he drank....

last night, it was raining so hard
but they never noticed.

Our Rules

We each live by our rules,
the ones engraved within us,
the rules we will never break
no matter what disasters
may fall upon us.
They are not the rules
others make in the way of laws,
but the ones we make for ourselves.
We never cheat on our friends
for to do so is to cheat ourselves.
Never rob those closest to our heart,
for to do so is something
ourselves can never forgive.
Simple rules we always stick by
as they bring the contentment
other see in our eyes.

Eyes Betrayed

Eyes trained to look away,
With beliefs that which remains...
From them one day will vanish to fade...
Are eyes betrayed.

And generations will pass,
With perceptions the grass is greener...
On the other side of a fence,
Eyes staying fixed on it...
Hope someday will be theirs to get,
If they did nothing but sat to sit...
Fixed.
While allowing the weeds in their fields,
To grow...
With a doing of nothing about it!

And generations will pass,
With perceptions the grass is greener...
On the other side of a fence,
Eyes staying fixed on it...
Hope someday will be theirs to get.

And...
Those eyes trained to look away,
With beliefs that which remains...
From them one day will vanish to fade...
Are eyes betrayed.

To have small eyes

He is not a man of truth
Though not a cheat. I left him.
He is not a man of brain
Though not unfaithful. I left him.
He is not a man of trust
Though not incapable. I left him.

She is not a woman of heart
Though not sexy less. I left her.
She is not a woman of virtue
Though not unwomanly. I left her.
She is not a woman of poise
Though not a cheat. I left her.
As a solitary tree I stand
I wish I had small eyes.

The Mediocre In Class Who Made Good Money

class reunions serve no purpose
other than advertising yourself at the end of the year
that you made good.

you are there not because you are interested
about the welfare of those who failed
you are there to be acknowledged
that the teachers did you wrong by not putting
you at the top on those years
you are there to prove to them that you were no nonsense
never a nincompoop,

you are going to spend a lot of money to drive your point
and you shall be at your pedestal of success

the most honest of all the teachers
who is old and retired still is not convinced about you
you were the cheat in the class
and you are still the worst cheat in the city

sometimes the cheat wins
you just proved it now.

Ill Try Anything

(mark barkan / vic millrose)
You belong
To somebody else and not to me
Right or wrong
Thats not the way that its gonna be
I want you so much inside
Im throwin away all my conscience and pride, and
Ill try anything to get you
Ill do anything I can
Ill try anything to get you
Ill cheat and Ill lie
And Ill try til I die
til I make you my man
Gonna make you my man
Ive been burned
Whenever Ive followed all the rules
So Ive learned
That playing it fair is just for fools
Im fighting and win or lose
Im not minding my ps and qs, and
Ill try anything to get you
Ill do anything I can
Ill try anything to get you
Ill cheat and Ill lie
Try til I die
til I make you my man
My man, hey, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
I want you so much inside
Im throwin away all my conscience and pride, and
Ill try anything to get you
Ill do anything I can
Ill try anything to get you
Ill cheat and Ill lie
Try til I die
til I make you my man
Gonna make you my man
Gonna make you my man, yeah
Make you my man
Gonna fight til I die
Gonna cheat and lie

Baby It's You

Sha la la la la la la la
Sha la la la la la la la
Sha la la la la la la la
Sha la la la la
It's not the way you smile that touched my heart. (sha la la la la)
It's not the way you kiss that tears me apart.
Uh, oh, many, many, many nights go by,
I sit alone at home and i cry over you.
What can i do.
Can't help myself, 'cause baby, it's you.
Baby, it's you.
You should hear what they say about you, "cheat," "cheat."
They say, they say you never never never ever been true. (cheat cheat)
Uh oh,
It doesn't matter what they say,
I know i'm gonna love you any old way.
What can i do, and it's true.
Don't want nobody, nobody, 'cause baby, it's you. (sha la la la la la la)
Baby, it's you. (sha la la la la la la)
Uh oh,
It doesn't matter what they say,
I know i'm gonna love you any old way.
What can i do, when it's true.
Don't want nobody, nobody, 'cause baby, it's you. (sha la la la la la la)
Baby, it's you. (sha la la la la la la)
Don't leave me all alone...

If You Leave Me I Would Become A Tree

If you leave me I would become a tree.
Away from the world, in a lonely silent.
Only nurtured by water and food, every time.
Fixed place, invisible tears, and shedding leaves.

Never do that to me, thus you would find,
Someone is weeping bitterly in your garden behind.
Gazing two teared eyes will always fixed on you.
Unable to even express my feelings though it is hide.
