Unknown Grief

Unknown Grief
Mark Kelly Wassenaar (AKA Wazzy)

You never expect to know the word grief
Until it comes to you
It comes in, like a thief
Then you take a critical review

Who really knows what grief is
It could be you, or me, or your teddy bear
If only we could see his
Come with me, I’ll give you a dare

All I ask is that you’ll see
What grief does to you and me
Maybe at the end we’ll all agree
That it need not be all for thee

Have you seen death of one or more
Have they been of love or worse
Does it cause a whole body war
Does it put you in a hearse

If all these apply to you
Maybe you know what grief may be
All this time you withdrew
It makes you feel like abductees

If you like, you may join my cause
Get together with your bands
To end all grief within our paws
To clear our enemy from our hands

Eczema

Your thoughts
Are like the
Itches of
Eczema

I scratch
Them away

They subside
For a while…

Then come back
Again with
Renewed force
And energy
Imposing
Themselves
On me

Thus begins
The
Never-ending
Cycle of
Itching and
Scratching…

How discomforting
How profusely
Tiring…

Yet
There are no
Steroids -
In this world
That can stop
The eczema
Of your
Thoughts
From
Resurfacing…

Motives...

at the point when minds do not mind
when you are like a haze
or mist that the morning is too familiar
with such that
when you are gone
no one notices
who comes and goes

the motives come in hordes
and ask you
which one? ahh, i pick the one for which i am sure of

it is not the money
not the fame, it is the letting go of what i treasure

it is the scratching of what itches
the releasing of what is jailed

it is freedom and compassion
the doves and the flowers

it is the road and the journey
it is not the cottage that provides temporary rest

it is the homing
that permanency that we are all thirsting

it is always there in that distance
it is not here, not today.

One Worse Thing

LAST Spring I walked these ways, and a sharp grief walked with me,
For you had broken my heart with a light kiss, carelessly,
And I was young and was new to grief, and could think of no worse thing
Than to walk abroad with a hurting heart and be hopeless in the Spring.

But I am older now, and have lived with grief awhile,
And there's one worse thing than a hurting heart that you have to hide and smile,
For I who know what a hurt heart is, and the thing that grief can be,
I– I have broken a heart with a light kiss, carelessly!

Joy that's half too keen, and true

Joy that's half too keen, and true,
Makes us tears.
Oh! the sweetness of the tears!
If such joy at hand appears,
Snatch it, give thine all for it;
Joy that is so exquisite,
Lost, comes not new.
One blossom for a hundred years.

Grief that's fond and dies not soon
Makes delight.
Oh! the pain of the delight!
If thy grief be love's aright,
Tend it close and let it grow:
Grief so tender not to know
Loses Love's boon.
Sweet Philomel sings all the night.

Hope in Heaven's Day

Grief be mine, I ask you so,
If not for you, I wouldn't know,
How life once was and then be still,
How so precious, that death do steal.
Because that grief, won't go away,
Learn to let it have its way.
The link to love, a precious one,
Is met with grief and still not done.
The days do come, and nights do go,
Grief will stay as time is so.
And so a loved one passes on,
And grief comes in and carries on.
Does grief get better, I will ask,
It's hard to say, while at its task.
There is grief to help us cope,
There is God to give us hope.
Grief will surely go away,
On that glorious heaven's day.
But while its here, there's just one thing,
Pray our Lord, for peace he'll bring.

A demons return

A demons return
~
I hear their scratching
At the metaphorical walls I’ve built
Their voices spitting into the air
Poisonous words to ignite
That flame of madness within me
Already strange to the world
Somewhat distant is said
That is not the half of it
That is not even close to understanding
The is a darker realisation
A more blood thirsty situation
A demon within a soul
The price of creation
Was the mind now long lost
The breaking of mortar
As the scratching grows louder
Barricade with what I ask
And none, none do answer
Alone I listen with fear
I hear their scratching
At the metaphorical walls I built
The demons are returning

Poison Ivy

Boomerang-
Poison ivy
J. lieber/ m. stoller
She comes on like a rose
But everybody knows (dont cha know, dont cha know)
Shell get you in dutch (awww)
You can look but youd better not touch
Poison ivy, poison ivy
Late at night when your sleeping
Poison ivy comes a creeping around
Shes pretty as a daisy (pretty as a daisy)
But look out man shes crazy (yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Shell really do you in (really do you in)
If you let her get under your skin (let her get under your skin)
(repeat chorus)
Measles makes you mumpy
And mumps will make you lumpy
And chicken pox will make you jump and twitch (make you jump and twitch)
A common cold will fool ya
And whooping coughs will cool ya
But poison ivy loves to make you itch (make you itch)
Your gonna need an ocean (gonna need an ocean)
Of calamine lotion (oh, your gonna need it)
Youll be scratching like a hound (boy, youll be itching)
The minute you start to mess around
(repeat chorus)
Your gonna need an ocean (big, big ocean)
Of calamine lotion
Youll be scratching like a hound (youll be scratching, youll be scratching)
The minute you start to mess around
(repeat chorus)

Hang In There

I have to hang in there a little bit longer,
If only to watch the drama unfold,
For I have been told by mice who keep scratching,
That nothing makes sense and no one is matching,
And out in the trees I hear baby birds hatching,
And creatures that seem very old.

Let's Play Our Roles!

Joy makes time fly soon ever!
Grief makes time move as snail!
Love consoles to regain mood!

Between joy and grief we sail on
Same boat of life on ocean broad;
Harbours are a lot but end's one!

Seeing love and war follow rules
Not so ever as there's nothing
Fair or foul for both in the world!

Ocean of world has treasures hidden
That only wise ones know where ever
However hard all toil day and night!

Till all reach the destiny of journey all
Play their roles king or pauper ever!

What old sadness can I let go of by sharing it today

How can we measure the grief we feel and and how we could put up with it. Doesn't the grief of death weight a ton or more. Doesn't it strenth out to a month a year or still longer. Is the grief of failture lighter then then the grief of empyness. Wheather we try to ingore or make light of it our grief like a ton of feathers or a ton of rocks is all the same to us. This much is sure if we lock our grief it will weight more on us. Andlengthen out if we open our hearts with weeping and words others will help carry it away. written and Posted 1/1/10
