An Angel for My Friend
I want my friend to have an angel,
for he's an angel to me,
he isn't just a friend, oh, no,
he's more like family.
He's not always around. Most times
he's with the other teens,
but he takes the time to talk to me,
and I know what he means.
He says the world is hard and soft,
a good/bad place to grow,
and the more we learn about it,
the more there is to know.
He tells me that I'm handsome and strong,
he tells me when I'm wrong,
he tells me that I'm funny and smart,
he says that I've got heart,
he helpsme with my homework,
he's going to teach me how to swim.

I have no adequate explanation-
I just know-because my heart tells me!
As though in a state of suspended animation,

I had an experience... I can't prove it, I can't even explain it, but everything that I know as a human being, everything that I am tells me that it was real! I was given something wonderful, something that changed me forever... A vision of the universe that tells us, undeniably, how tiny, and insignificant and how ... rare, and precious we all are! A vision that tells us that we belong to something that is greater than ourselves, that we are not — that none of us — are alone! ... I wish I could share that. Christmas 2010
Christmas is the time that tells
That God was born a baby boy;
And He was called ‘Emmanuel’
(‘God with us’) , and brought us joy!
Christmas is the time that tells
That love of God was born on earth,
Becoming flesh in virgin’s womb,
Proclaiming the ‘King of Kings’ birth!

That Word that was God became man,
And dwelt amongst us for some years,

My god’s better than your god,
My special book tells me so,

And how my life should go.

The Fortune Teller
There's a fortune teller
that tells it like she sees it.
But how do I know that
what she sees is true?
Maybe it's all hokum
and then what will I do?
She tells me I will meet
the man in my life
that will sweep me off my feet
and make me his wife.
She tells me I'll have babies,
that they will make me proud.
She tells me she sees sunshine
and not a single cloud.
