A Pocket Handkerchief To Hem
A pocket handkerchief to hem -
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear!
How many stitches it will take
Before it's done, I fear.
Yet set a stitch and then a stitch,
And stitch and stitch away,
Till stitch by stitch the hem is done -
And after work is play!

Stitches
Sew me back together
Make every stitch clean
Pull the thread tighter
I'm ripping from the seams
Come quickly whoever you are
And stitch back together my heart

Through the Fall of Gentle Rain
While you lay in waiting,
To be set free.
To freely breathe...
Without being instructed.
Your liberties have been limited.
As they thrive in your mental twisted fits.
Who but you weeps,
For the loss of abandoned negligence.
Who else but you keeps,
A doing did too well done alive?
Who other than you,
Can not sleep...
Through the fall of gentle rain,
Dropping to nourish all that grows.
You are the only one that knows...
The deepness felt,
Of a guilt quilted that sits.
Providing not a stitch of comfort.
Who but you weeps,
For the loss of abandoned negligence.
Who else but you keeps,
A doing did too well done alive!
Who other than you,
Can not sleep...
Through the fall of gentle rain,
Dropping to nourish all that grows.
While you lay in waiting,
To be set free...
Your haunting arrives,
To find your clinched fists held...
Onto sorrows snuggled close to soothe,
An anguish that has become a part,
Of invited miseries.
That has become identified with you!
And no one dares or cares to share,
Such unrelenting grief!

A Stitch In Time
I work in dark factories --- a cog in the big wheel
Driving grey satanic mills and weaving sad stories.
And faceless masters --- oh, they pay me plenty ---
Crumbs from their luncheon packs, harsh wine from
Bottles halk empty.
A stitch in time saves nine.
Said cock robin from the wall.
Its an early bird catches the worm.
Show a little pride before you fall.
So I flew to the south sun with birds of a feather
To drink in the warm nights and tell of fine weather.
A stitch in time saves nine.
Listen all you young folk --- your lives on a timetable
Clocking on twenty-one --- fly while youre able.
A stitch in time saves nine.

Too Many Desperate People Far From Calm
Too many enemies,
Defended against!
Too many enemies,
Picked from picket fences.
Too many people,
Offended by the minute.
Who think the laws amended...
Give others right to bend!
Too many people up in arms dropping bombs.
Too many people dropping bomb after bomb...
KABOOM-BOOM!
Too many people up in arms dropping bombs.
Too many people dropping bomb after bomb,
BOOM!
Too many enemies,
Picked from picket fences.
And weakening defenses!
Too many people up in arms dropping bombs.
KABOOM-BOOM!
Too many people dropping bomb after bomb...
BOOM-BOOM.
Too many gloomy people seeking to BOOM!
Too many people up in arms,
Alarmed!
Too many desperate people,
Far from calm.
Too many people feeling they are in harm.

Fading Tunes
i keep singing the same song
for the low pitch but the tune so long
i cling on to the whirling wind
never mind life at it's own speed
After all;
History buries no heroes
Age admits no zeroes
the dead are only weighty kilos
Nevertheless...
our time always comes
surely our prides always hurls
yet our wickedness ever curls
After all, We are just human
Every man with a half rib for a woman
a stitch by stitch is a full human
flesh for immortal soul makes us strong

Switch
When dawn snuffs out sleep's candlelight
one's memory retains as bright
far fog framed phantom image which
imprints its background stitch by stitch
upon the mind – dream drawn despite
the evidence that day and night
defy comparison. The switch
from focus when the rest is pitch
to depth of vision often might
seem trite when gift of second sight
ungranted is or atrophies.
Soul inner cecity defies,
“necessity” denies. Heart seeks
beyond the ken of highest peaks.

Insignificance
Vedder
All in all its no ones fault. excuses turn to carbon walls.
Blame it all on chemical intercourse.
The swallowed seeds of arrogance breeding in the thoughts of ten-thousand fools that fight
Irrelevance.
The full moon is dead skin. the one down heres wearing thin.
So set up the ten pins as the human tide rolls in.
Like a ball thats spinning.
Bombs dropping down overhead. on the ground.
Its instilled to want to live.
Bombs dropping down. please forgive our hometown in our insignificance.
turn the jukebox up, he said. dancing in irreverence.
Play c-3. let the song protest.
The plates began to shift. perfect lefts come rolling in.
I was alone and far away, hey. when I heard the band start playing.
On the lip they take off.
Bombs dropping down overhead. underground.
Its instilled to want to live.
Bombs dropping down. please forgive our hometown in our insignificance.
Feel like resonance of distance. in the blood the iron lies.
Its instilled to want to live.
Bombs dropping down. please forgive our hometown in our insignificance.
Oh, in our insignificance, oh.

Lottery Ticket
'A ticket for the lottery
I've purchased every week,' said she
'For years a score
Though desperately poor am I,
Oh how I've scrimped and scraped to buy
One chance more.
Each week I think I'll gain the prize,
And end my sorrows and my sighs,
For I'll be rich;
Then nevermore I'll eat bread dry,
With icy hands to cry and cry
And stitch and stitch.'
'Tis true she won the premier prize;
It was of formidable size,
Ten million francs.
I know, because the man who sold
It to her splenically told
He got no thanks.
The lucky one was never found,
For she was snugly underground,
And minus breath;
And with that ticket tucked away,
In some old stocking, so they say,
She starved to death.

Nocturn
At the barren heart of midnight,
When the shadow shuts and opens
As the loud flames pulse and flutter,
I can hear a cistern leaking.
Dripping, dropping, in a rhythm,
Rough, unequal, half-melodious,
Like the measures aped from nature
In the infancy of music;
Like the buzzing of an insect,
Still, irrational, persistent . . .
I must listen, listen, listen
In a passion of attention;
Till it taps upon my heartstrings,
And my very life goes dripping,
Dropping, dripping, drip-drip-dropping,
In the drip-drop of the cistern.

Truth Comes Dropping Slow
It rained love...only love
but the rain didn't hear
the lamentation of my leaves,
I grieved for truth.
I craved for truth as it were blood
to paint my petals red again
and heal my wounded heart in pain
that's wounded by the rain.
For every dropp of love was like
a dagger piercing me...
pushing me to death as though
life's death is just a play.
I've gone astray -
searching for the truth;
only to find my petals
slowly kissing the ground
because truth comes dropping slow.
I cried till tears became my blood
yet truth comes dropping slow.
I died and found no truth in my grave
for truth comes dropping slow.
I died and found the common truth of life:
We all crave for truth, yet all of us lie.
Truth comes dropping slow
for all of us lie.

The Sun kept setting—setting—still
692
The Sun kept setting—setting—still
No Hue of Afternoon—
Upon the Village I perceived
From House to House 'twas Noon—
The Dusk kept dropping—dropping—still
No Dew upon the Grass—
But only on my Forehead stopped—
And wandered in my Face—
My Feet kept drowsing—drowsing—still
My fingers were awake—
Yet why so little sound—Myself
Unto my Seeming—make?
How well I knew the Light before—
I could see it now—
'Tis Dying—I am doing—but
I'm not afraid to know—

It Doesn't Have To Be That Way
Snowy nights and Christmas lights,
Icy windowpanes,
Make me wish that we could be
Together again.
And the windy winter avenues
Just don't seem the same,
And the Christmas carols sound like blues,
But the choir is not to blame.
But it doesn't have to be that way.
What we had should never have ended.
I'll be dropping by today.
We could easily get it together tonight.
It's only right.
Crowded stores, the corner Santa Claus,
Tinseled afternoons,
And the sidewalk bands play their songs
Slightly out of tune.
Down the windy winter avenues
There walks a lonely man,
And if I told you who he is,
Well I think you'd understand.
But it doesn't have to be that way.
What we had should never have ended.
I'll be dropping by today.
We could easily get it together tonight.
It's only right.
No, it doesn't have to be that way.
What we had should never have ended.
I'll be dropping by today.
We could easily get it together tonight.
It's only right.

Umina Bowling Club
There’s nothing that’s finer when you are in Umina
Than bowling right up to the friendly bowling club
There’s nothing that’s finer when you are in Umina
Than dropping in for just a drink or some good grub.
Behind the bar you’ll find our Suzy, Linda and Michelle
When you come in you’ll get a welcome and a smile as well
And if the mood should ever take you to the pokie room
There’s all the games that might just make your fortune very soon.
There’s nothing that’s finer when you are in Umina
Than bowling right up to the friendly bowling club
There’s nothing that’s finer when you are in Umina
Than dropping in for just a drink or some good grub
On Thursday nights the club is packed when bingo starts at four
And Friday concerts – there’s no extra charges at the door
Our raffles too, they need an extra special mention
Its your happiness that’s our intention.
There’s nothing that’s finer when you are in Umina
Than bowling right up to the friendly bowling club
There’s nothing that’s finer when you are in Umina
Than dropping in for just a drink or some good grub.
Now, when leaving, should you think you’re over the limit
We’ve got a bus that takes you home – no paying for a ticket
So if you’re young or if you’re old or somewhere in between
Just come along, join up with us and find out what we mean.
There’s nothing that’s finer when you are in Umina
Than bowling right up to the friendly bowling club
There’s nothing that’s finer when you are in Umina
Than dropping in for just a drink or some good grub.

Why Don't You Stop
Stop. Stop.
Why don't you,
Stop. Stop.
Why don't you,
Stop. Stop...
Getting so offended.
Stop. Stop.
Why don't you,
Stop. Stop.
Why don't you,
Stop. Stop...
Your defending arguments.
Why don't you stop getting picky,
And...
Dropping petty bits,
To dip and to lip.
Why don't you stop getting picky,
And...
Dropping petty bits,
To dip and to lip.
Why don't you stop. Stop!
Why don't you stop. Stop!
Why don't you stop. Stop,
Your defending arguments to dip and to lip.
Why don't you stop getting picky,
And...
Dropping petty bits,
To dip and to lip.
Why don't you stop getting picky,
And...
Dropping petty bits,
To dip and to lip.
To dip and to lip.
Why don't you stop getting picky,
And...
Dropping petty bits,
To dip and to lip.
Why don't you stop! ...It.
Just stop it.
Why don't you stop! ...It.
And quit.

That Sky Is Wide
Once there's a feeling,
Of a freedom that frees...
Once there's a feeling,
Of someone being whom they please...
Once there's a feeling,
Of a letting go,
To let things be what they 'be'.
That sky,
Seems so wide...
With the choices there.
That sky,
Seems so wide...
With so much to share.
That sky,
Seems so wide...
Why do people despair,
With a dropping of their tears everywhere.
Once one decides,
To embrace their dreams.
And once one decides,
To let their troubles fade...
Knowing that yesterday can not replayed.
When...
The sky,
Seems so wide...
With the choices there.
The sky,
Seems so wide...
With so much to share.
The sky,
Seems so wide...
Why do people despair,
With a dropping of their tears everywhere.
That sky is so wide,
With the choices there.
That sky is so wide...
With so much to share.
That sky is so wide,
Why do people despair...
With a dropping of their tears everywhere.
