By staying always in the same place one gets lice.

It's O.K. (It's Alright)
(it's alright)
I've been looking for about an hour, for a place to drink
Trouble with this town, everyone's asleep
Me and my girlfriend, had another fight
Now she's gone and left me, in the middle of the night
It's OK, it's alright, baby's staying one more night
It's OK, it's alright, baby's staying one more night
If I've been looking for about an hour, for a place to drink
If I had a number, I'd give her a ring
I've got to, got to tell her, how sorry I am
If I get to see her, I know she'll understand
It's OK, it's alright, baby's staying one more night
And just you, and I, maybe we can make it right
If you're sure your answer's no,
Take you where you want to go
It's OK, it's alright, baby's staying one more night
I've been trying for an hour, to find the right words
I know what she's thinking, I know how it hurts
It's OK, it's alright, baby's staying one more night
And just you, and I, maybe we can make it right
If you're sure your answer's no,
I'll take you where you want to go
It's OK, it's alright, baby's staying one more night
It's OK, it's alright, baby's staying one more night

The Hair
The ritual evanesced when we observed it,
The ritual completed when our lice grew.
The head was full of lice, I hear them and saw each of them,
Restraining the children with feet, the arms also.
Inexorable lice swayed in the hair of our heads
Until the ritual was entire.
What is this ritual?
The ritual is of the dressing of hair,
Or the cutting of hair by the hairdresser.

Memory Lane
This is the place
You end up when
You lose the chase
Where you're dragged against your will
From a basement on the hill
And all anybody knows is
You're not like them
They kick you in the head
And send you back to bed
Isolation pulled you past a tunnel to a
Bright world where you can make a place to stay
But everybody's scared of this place
They're staying away
Your little house on memory lane
The mayor's name is fear
His force patrols the pier
From a mountain of cliche
That advances everyday
The doctor spoke of cloud
He rained out loud
You'll keep the doors and windows shut
And swear
You'll never show a soul again
But isolation pushes you til every muscle aches
Down the only road it ever takes
But everybody's scared of this place
They're staying away
Your little house on memory lane
If it's your decision
To be open about yourself
Be careful or else
Be careful or else
I'm comfortable apart
It's all written on my chart
That I take what's given to me
Most cooperatively
I do what people say
And lie in bed all day
Absolutely horrified
I hope you're satisfied
Isolation pushes past self-hatred, guilt, and shame
To a place where sufferings just a game
But everybody's scared of this place
They're staying away
Your little house on memory lane
Your little house on memory lane

Ocean Avenue
There's a place off Ocean Avenue
Where I used to sit and talk with you
We were both 16 and it felt so right
Sleeping all day, staying up all night
Staying up all night
There's a place on the corner of Cherry Street
We would walk on the beach in our bare feet
We were both 18 and it felt so right
Sleeping all day, staying up all night
Staying up all night
If I could find you now things would get better
We could leave this town and run forever
Let your waves crash down on me and take me away
There's a piece of you that's here with me
It's everywhere I go, it's everything I see
When I sleep, I dream and it gets me by
I can make believe that you're here tonight
That you're here tonight
If I could find you now things would get better
We could leave this town and run forever
I know somewhere, somehow we'll be together
Let your waves crash down on me and take me away
I remember the look in your eyes
When I told you that this was goodbye
You were begging me not tonight
Not here, not now
We're looking up at the same night sky
And keep pretending the sun will not rise
Be together for one more night
Somewhere, somehow
If I could find you now things would get better
We could leave this town and run forever
I know somewhere, somehow we'll be together
Let your waves crash down on me and take me away

Pissheads
piss heads in the park
piss heads in the park
staying out till dark
staying out till dark
dont wanna see the crack in your arse
when you're lying on the grass
dont wanna hear your shout
when im just out walking about
piss heads in the park
piss heads in the park
staying out till dark
staying out till dark
dont wanna see your veins
coming out your brains
dont wanna feel the pain
of your life put down the drain
piss heads in the park
piss heads in the park
staying out till dark
staying out till dark
dont wanna think your my destiny
when i feel the addict in me
there has to be something more
than pissing on the floor
piss heads in the park
piss heads in the park
staying out till dark
staying out till dark
dont want the crack and the smack
when it only puts you back
to the bare necessities of being in the park
and staying out till dark
staying out till dark
so no-one sees

When Two Beards Converge
when two beards
indeed converge
tonight, at least
i have already
a hint about your
name, the place
where you live,
and the kind of
tongue that you
use. and just in
case my lice
land in yours
and yours in
mine please be
considerate.

Now I've been three days
Now I've been three days
In the place where I am staying,
I've taken up new ways—
Land-owning and flute playing.
There's an orchard ground
Seen, that set me sighing.
Should I give ten pounds,
It is mine for the buying.
With the door set wide,
I could sit there playing,
Send the magic notes
Through the gully straying.
Since the roof is sound
And the trees are growing,
I will give ten pounds,
All my gold bestowing.
Now I've been three days
In the place where I am staying,
I've taken up new ways—
Land-owning and flute playing.

Days And Nights Go By (by R.b.)
days and nights go by
like friends and lovers
merely passing by us
not stopping not staying
know by now, life is
like that, too, merely
passing by, not staying,
pilgrims, yes, days
and nights are pilgrims,
always passing by,
not staying,
night not blacking out
day, not exploding
yes, just passing by
like poems that you
read, that you pass
by, and then we
begin again, we pass
again, not stopping
not staying, sometimes
not even glancing.....

President Kennedy
(sleepy john estes)
Late one friday evening everybody was sad
We lost the best president we ever had
But hes gone home, gone back home
Hes staying away too long
Rode from town to town holdin up for our rights
Some low down rascal took the presidents life
But hes gone home, gone back home
Hes staying away too long
Mrs. kennedy got a mansion on the island, stayed 9 months, all shed be
She have another mansion, soon as she reach washington, d.c.
But hes gone home, gone back home
Hes staying away too long
Everybody votes, they dont know whats goin on
If goldwater get it, we wont have no home
But hes gone home, gone back home
Hes staying away too long
While horses and cars all in a row
I think mr. kennedy have a right to this long white robe
But hes gone home, gone back home
Hes staying away too long

Mad Maria
Mad Maria in the Square
Sits upon a wicker chair.
When the keeper asks the price
Mad Maria counts her lice.
No pesito can she pay,
So he shrugs and goes away;
Hopes she'll pay him with her prayers,
Shabby keeper of the chairs.
Mad Maria counts her lice,
Cracks them once and cracks them twice,
Combs them from her sunny hair;
People stop to turn and stare.
Innocent in thought and deed
Mad Maria pays no heed,
And the Cross upon her breast
Proves her blessed of the blest.
So she sings her little song,
Happy as the day is long,
hunting in her camisole
Shy partakers of her dole;
thinking: Heaven please forgive -
Even lice have leave to live;
(But sweet Reader, do not blame,
For she kills them just the same.)
Mad Maria goes unchid,
Mildest maid in all Madrid;
While around in serried ranks
Rear the bold facades of Banks;
But when wrath of Heaven smites
Hosts of Mammon's parasites,
Mad Maria will not fall,
Being oh so very small.
Pariahs to God belong,
to be weak is to be strong;
Fools are richer than the wise,
And who see with shining eyes
Angels in the sordid street
Deem their happiness complete. . . .
Mad Maria counts her beads,
Cracks her lice and - Heaven heeds.

Staying Power
Let me show it to you
See what I got
I got a heel of a lot
Tell me what you feel
Is it real
It is real
You know I got what it takes
And I can take a lot
Did you hear the last call baby
You and me got staying power
Staying power I got it I got it
I wonder when were gonna make it
I wonder when were gonna shake it
Rock me baby rock me
Cmon you can shock me
Lets catch on to the groove
Make it move, make it move
You know how to shake that thing
Well work it, work it , work it
You and I can play ball baby
You and me got staying power
I wonder when were gonna make it
I wondows when were gonna shake it
Ive got fire down below
Im just a regular dynamo
Want some smooth company
Dont lose control just hang on out with me
Got to get to know each other
But we got plenty of time
Did you hear the last call baby
You and me got staying power
You and me we got staying power
Power
I wonder where were gonna stick it
I wonder when were gonna trick it
Blow baby blow
Lets get down and go go
Get yourself in the mood
Got to give a little bit of attitude
Baby dont you crash
Lets just trash trash trash
Did you hear the last call baby
You and me got staying power
You and me we got staying power
Staying power... gotcha

Imagine Heaven
I imagine Heaven
as a wonderful, happy place.
Where joy and contentment,
brings a smile to every face.
I imagine no temptation.
A place where there's no sin.
I imagine eating Twinkies
all day long and staying thin.
I imagine Heaven
being without guns or wars.
A place with no such things
as locks upon our doors.
When I imagine Heaven
I imagine lots of fun.
I imagine every golf shot
will be a hole in one.
I imagine Heaven as a place
where dreams come true.
Heaven is, in my mind,
Eternity with you.

Tonight Ill Be Staying Here With You
Throw my ticket out the window,
Throw my suitcase out there, too,
Throw my troubles out the door,
I dont need them any more
cause tonight Ill be staying here with you.
I should have left this town this morning
But it was more than I could do.
Oh, your love comes on so strong
And Ive waited all day long
For tonight when Ill be staying here with you.
Is it really any wonder
The love that a stranger might receive.
You cast your spell and I went under,
I find it so difficult to leave.
I can hear that whistle blowin,
I see that stationmaster, too,
If theres a poor boy on the street,
Then let him have my seat
cause tonight Ill be staying here with you.
Throw my ticket out the window,
Throw my suitcase out there, too,
Throw my troubles out the door,
I dont need them any more
cause tonight Ill be staying here with you.

Auntie’s curse
She said to me, now in her old age
to stay away from the dogs and cats,
as if they were spiders, snakes and bats
being scared
that I would catch
something from them
like lice or ticks or fleas
or maybe some hidden disease
and although I had used frontline on them,
had dusted them with karbadust,
had sprayed shoo-fly on their heads and necks
she wished that I would catch lice from them,
or the illness which they were carrying
like a member of the flat earth society,
still believing in vain
as if cats and dogs infected with
the one or other pest
were going to rain down
out of the sky
and infect every one
and then she bought some expensive shampoo,
bathed, washed her head
five times a day
to kill the pests
which she believed
was now crawling over her
and was very angry at me
for not comprehending
life exactly as she did.

Oh Sunshine
OH SUN SHINE
ARE YOU COMING BACK SOON
AND WILL YOU BE STAYING THE AFTERNOON
CAUSE SUNSHINE
I`M TIRED OF DROWING IN THE RAIN
WITH MY LONELYNESS THAT REMAINS
SO SUN SHINE ARE YOU COMING BACK SOON
AND WILL YOU BE STAYING THE AFTERNOON
CAUSE SUNSHINE WITHOUT YOU I`M BLUE
AND TIME DOESN`T MOVE
IT`S WHERE I LOSE MY GROOVE
SO SUNSHINE ARE YOU COMING BACK SOON
AND WILL YOU BE STAYING THE AFTERNOON
CAUSE I`M TIRED OF DROWING IN MY SADNESS
AND SUNSHINE WHEN YOU DO SHINE
YOU TAKE AWAY MY MADNESS
BY LIGHTING UP MY DAY
AND CHASING THE RAIN AWAY
SO SUNSHINE WILL YOU BE COMING SOON
AND WILL YOU BE STAYING THE AFTERNOON
OH SUNSHINE

This Is The Place
I have come from a long distance to be patient in this place,
I am remaining, I am staying where I am to stall, and this is the place.
I have to be a perseverance, for my progeny shall require dedication,
The same direction that is to be followed is surely then rainfall, and this is the place.
To love another being because of his virtue is surely the journey too great,
May feet and hands be covered, so that hearts are unfurled to reinstall, and this is the place.
I have a sport for my deity to love me for, and that is the supreme joy,
It entertains my soul forcing its tail to end up in a pitfall, and this is the place.
My shoes are invented by the great teacher of manners and education,
What can we mean now that I have shown you the truth to scrawl in this place?
A building will collapse forming love like an army so bladed by routing,
The sincere truth is to love the friendships and kill like a snowball, and this is the place.
My days are numbered, the nights have been worded by the scribes,
A living voyage of the seas entails my progeny to be small, this is the place.
