A shrew gets her wish but suffers in the getting.

Mighty mouse
A predator, the pygmy shrew?
It seems unlikely but it’s true.
To satisfy its appetite
this tiny scrap of dynamite
will tackle creatures twice its size.
They’re dead before they realise.
This little creature has to eat
twice its own body weight of meat.
On each and every single day.
the pygmy shrew’s no easy prey.
Some larger creatures find to their cost.
Make the attempt and find they’ve lost.
The pygmy shrew’s ferocity
means that he wins inevitably.

Time's Two Faces
A clock has one face, but time has two…
One is of hope: the other a shrew.
I strain at the pinnacle in sight of both ways.
One is of past years; the other mere days.
As I squint for a better view of the days,
The apex slants more towards the shrew's gaze.
My only chance lies in a much slower pace,
Hoping to enjoy days before they change face.

Song of the Soul
I sing a love song
to the world
to the world that suffers
prejudice, hate and war.
I sing a love song
to the world,
to the world that suffers
AIDS, drug and alcohol addiction.
I sing a love song
to the world,
to the world that suffers
domestic violence, child and sexual abuse.
I sing a love song
to the world,
to the world that suffers
pornography, pollution, and propaganda.
I sing a love song
to the world
Oh, come, sing a love song
with me.
The Merit Suffocates
Merit suffers from vested interests.
Money and sex play a great part.
Prejudice and nepotism
Do their parts at a crucial point.
Religion is not far behind.
Merit suffers and suffocates.

Govern a horse with a bit, and a shrew with a stick.
That man is good who does good to others if he suffers on account of the good he does, he is very good if he suffers at the hands of those to whom he has done good, then his goodness is so great that it could be enhanced only by greater sufferings and if he should die at their hands, his virtue can go no further it is heroic, it is perfect.

not too sensitive
is the shrew,
that is talent
above
mediocrity
it rises more likely

genius.

Three things to fear: a crumbling wall, an angry dog, and a shrew.
Three things drive a man out of doors: smoke, dropping water, and a shrew.
There are three things from which no good can be got without a beating: a walnut-tree, a donkey, and a shrew.
Onions, smoke, and a shrew, make a good man's eyes water.
When I did Taming of the Shrew, I was very tired, and I decided to have a holiday and make a documentary.

If We See
We can…
notice nature suffers,
how pretty flowers wilt
in heat of midday sun,
how plants are broken
by the wind, how some
die from frosty cold.
But…
still see natures beauty
blooms, a cascade of
colour, lights our much
divided fractured world.
Which…
has no concern, so
occupied by conflict, war,
discrimination, worry and
its greed for many things.
Yet…
our world suffers all of
mans quarrels and disorder,
so it can be, a poets dream,
a bards delight, a writers relish
and an artists paradise.

Katherine: My tongue will tell the anger of my heart
Or else my heart, concealing it, will break,
And, rather than it shall, I will be free
Even to the uttermost, as I please, in words.

Don’t Close Your Eyes!
I have been sitting here in this large room,
Working on homework and sleeping some.
The substitute that we have should probably get her broom,
Since the rule she just made is really dumb.
She has yelled and said we must not sleep;
Although this is what most do
I fear to even make a peep,
Because she is such a shrew.

Lunar Strain
For there is a purpose and reason
Beyond all human apprehension
The shrieking silence in the blackness of space
For there is a knowledge more complex
Than life on this planet
A knowledge in tune with the progress of stars
Lunar Strain
All across the milky way
Life suffers defeat
Life that once was treasured
What once was nothing
Has blossomed into form
Once it was I that was nothing
But they say I will die
All across the galaxy
Life suffers defeat
Lunar strain
From nothingless to reality
As we see it
From nothingless into life
My dismal tears of anguish
Bleed into one with the songs of my heaven
Loneliness is pain
Emptiness his power, loneliness his pain
Serenity his might
Yet we shall be honoured
In the starforsaken night
Astral strain
All around my silent moon
Life suffers defeat
Astral strain
For there is a purpose and reason
Beyond all human apprehension
The shrieking silence in the blackness of space.
