Hollywood

Orange and yellow and purple and green
The lights of the city at night set the scene
Stumble through the bars of forget-me-not lane
Sparkle through the glitter but dont show the pain
In hollywood
Underneath a golden palm tree
Hollywood
Come to the party the drinks are on me
For free
Heartbeats echo through a cavern of love
Come to the tavern Ill meet you up above
Soaring through the heavens, what a fabulous ride
But everybodys heading for the same place to hide
In hollywood
Underneath a golden palm tree
Hollywood
Come to the party the drinks are on me
For free
The drinks on me
For free
The drinks on me
For free
The drinks on me
The drinks on me
The drinks on me
The drinks on me

A Tree in a Field

There once was a tree,
A tree alone in a field.
And as that tree grew
It got bigger than all 'round.
And people would often stop
Just to look at that tree,
That tree in a field.
Till one day one person,
Went and cut down that tree,
That tree in a field.
And you know what?
That tree learned one thing
Don't stand too tall too fast,
Or someone just might
Cut you down.

The milestone marked nine

The milestone marked nine

I am by the side of a metro bus stop
Under the shadow not-so-fully grown gulmohar tree
Whose trunk is still protected by a tree guard

Crows and mynas perching on this tree
Often bless me with their droppings

But I remain in my shape
I may be a little over one foot tall
Wide enough for any person to rest on me

People, mostly elderly, sit on me
Preferring me to the tall stainless stool
Beneath the shelter
As they are confident of not tilting dangerously

I used to see dreams in the eyes of most of the people
Who wait for their bus to come

Some plan a future
Some ponder over the past pains
Some visualize their daughter’s wedding
Some think of a comfort after their son’s employment
Some plan for their retired life
Some have a dialogue with their unseen gods
Some keep talking over their mobile phones
Some sit on me minding not the bird dropping on their shirt
Some do not mind the spider spinning its web
Just above their head on the tree branch
Some smoke
Some keep munching fried peanuts
All keep busy themselves

Some may not have even noticed
This silent observer
The milestone marked nine

Empire State Human

Since I was very young I realised
I never wanted to be human size
So I avoid the crowds and traffic jams
They just remind me of how small I am
Because of this longing in my heart
Im going to start the growing up
Im going to grow now and never stop
Think like a mountain, grow to the top
Tall, tall, tall, I want to be tall, tall, tall
As big as a wall, wall, wall, as big as a wall, wall, wall
And if Im not tall, tall, tall, then I will grow, grow, grow
Because Im not tall, tall, tall, tall, tall, tall, tall, tall
Tall, tall, tall, I want to be tall, tall, tall
As big as a wall, wall, wall, as big as a wall, wall, wall
And if Im not tall, tall, tall, then I will grow, grow, grow
Because Im not tall, tall, tall, tall, tall, tall, tall, tall
With concentration
My size increased
And now Im fourteen stories high
At least!!
Empire state human
Just a bored kid
Ill go to egypt to be
A pyramid
Brick by brick
Stone by stone
Growing till hes fully grown
Brick by brick
Stone by stone
Growing till hes fully grown
Fetch more water
Fetch more sand
Biggest person in the land
Fetch more water
Fetch more sand
Biggest person in the land

Its Over My Head

You couldve had anyone you wanted
That just goes to show how crazy love can be
Look at us now baby who would have thought it
I dont know why you chose me
Its over my head and Im six feet tall
This beats anything I ever saw
Well I dont see what you see in me at all
Its over my head and Im six feet tall
You could be riding in a big mercedes
But here you are with me in a pickup truck
I never had a way with the ladies
So howd I fool ol ladyluck
Its over my head and Im six feet tall
This beats anything I ever saw
Well I dont see what you see in me at all
Its over my head and Im six feet tall
Lovin you comes easy girl my heard is in your hands
Its why you take a chance on me that I cant understand
Its over my head and Im six feet tall
This beats anything I ever saw
Well I dont see what you see in me at all
Its over my head and Im six feet tall
Its over my head and Im six feet tall

The Little Negro

Ah! the poor little blackamoor, see there he goes,
And the blood gushes out from his half frozen toes,
And his legs are so thin you may see the very bones,
As he goes shiver, shiver, on the sharp cutting stones.

He was once a negro boy, and a merry boy was he,
Playing outlandish plays, by the tall palm tree;
Or bathing in the river, like a brisk water rat,
And at night sleeping sound, on a little bit of mat.

But there came some wicked people, and they stole him far away,
And then good bye to palm-tree tall, and merry merry play;
For they took him from his house and home, and ev'ry body dear,
And now, poor little negro boy, he's come a begging here.

And fie upon the wicked folks who did this cruel thing!
I wish some mighty nobleman would go and tell the king;
For to steal him from his house and home must be a crying sin,
Though he was a little negro boy, and had a sooty skin.

Willow Tree

underneth it stood a little girl
not very fond but she had a pearl
it was magical
and very fragile
underneath the willow tree

there stood a butterfly
that started to cry
it was colorful
and very sad
we dont know why just the thought of it made me mad
underneath the willow tree

there the bird stood on a branch
looks like it is about to launch
it was very sick
every where in her body was a flick
it was very frighting
then struck lighting
and that was the last day
underneath the willow tree

The Vision the Tree that was Me

I saw a tree so tall and straight
It almost reached to the heavenly gate
I was very close to that tall tree
I became the tree, and the tree became me A fire was burning all around
It burned the roots that were attached to the ground
The fire did not burn the heart of the tree;
As I was the tree and the tree was me. God saved the tree that was me,
God looks upon the heart you see
He saw a sinful heart set free
Sins all buried on the cross of calvary God took the tree that was me,
And planted it by crystal sea
I am the tree, and the tree of life is in me
I, and the tree are one you see, Would you like to be our neighbor?
A tree planted by the waters.
Come to the cross dear sisters and brothers
Jesus will meet you; and we will meet each other.

The Tree And The Branch

the tree looks
upon a branch
where a ripe
fruit is hanging

the tree says
it is mine
the branch say
i am holding it

the tree says
the branch too
belongs to it

angry about the
tree's greed
the branch lets go off
the ripe fruit

a hungry child
picks it up
and goes home
with a happy heart

Apple Suckling Tree (1)

by Bob Dylan
Old man sailin' in a dinghy boat
Down there
Old man down is baitin' a hook
On there
Gonna pull man down on a suckling hook
Gonna pull man into the suckling brook
Oh yeah!
Now, he's underneath that apple suckling tree
Oh yeah!
Under that apple suckling tree
Oh yeah!
That's underneath that tree
There's gonna be just you and me
Underneath that apple suckling tree
Oh yeah!
I push him back and I stand in line
Oh yeah!
Then I hush my Sadie and stand in line
Oh yeah!
Then I hush my Sadie and stand in line
I get on board in two-eyed time
Oh yeah!
Under that apple suckling tree
Oh yeah!
Under that apple suckling tree
Oh yeah!
Underneath that tree
There's just gonna be you and me
Underneath that apple suckling tree
Oh yeah!
Now, who's on the table. who's to tell me?
Oh yeah!
Who's on the table, who's to tell me?
Oh yeah!
Who should I tell, oh, who should I tell?
The forty-nine of you like bats out of hell
Oh underneath that old apple suckling tree

To My Love...

love
a luscious
strawberry
freshly picked
from the
farm in
Benguet
inside my mouth
in those
long hours
while you were
picking some more
of those ripe
ones
as i wait under
the shade of
the palm tree
waiting
for you....

The Angel At The Top Of My Tree

Slide on over baby
Underneath this mistletoe
Here's a toast to us together
Let me wrap you in this bow.
I'm in the Christmas spirits
No, this one won't be blue
It's gonna be the best one ever
And it's all because of you, baby.
You're the angel at the top of my tree
Best present anybody ever gave me
I got it decorated, all lite up, gift's underneath
You're the angel at the top of my tree.
--- Instrumental ---
Let's put on that old movie
''It's a Wonderful Life''
'Cause curled up by the fire
It sure is true tonight.
Let's make a little candle
And the a little later on
We'll make a little love
To that old Bing Crosby song, baby.
You're the angel at the top of my tree
Best present anybody ever gave me
I got it decorated, all lite up, gifts underneath
You're the angel at the top of my tree.
--- Instrumental ---
You're the angel at the top of my tree
Best present anybody ever gave me
I got it decorated, all lite up, gifts underneath
You're the angel at the top of my tree.
Baby, you're the angel...

That Something Which Went Wrong

there is a ripe papaya
too ripe for my hold and i climb it
too weak for my body
the tree swings to the other side
and then the papaya fruit falls to the
ground
crushed

something goes wrong somewhere
something that you are about to hold
and yet crushes to the ground
looks like a vomit &
you don't want to eat it
back

Lovely, Lovely, Lovely Memories

By an old river beside a bamboo grove
She bathes herself

Only the bamboo leaves hinder
Your view of her long black hair

As she splashes naked in the
Clear River.

Lovely 2

There is a nipa hut on the side of a hill
You meet her when it is dark

She lights your cigar
As you get near her

You decided to smoke later

Lovely 3

You are rocking yourself on a rattan hammock
On a late afternoon when the rest go home

It is Saturday
She stays
You watch her come near you giving you something

She says it is the key to her room and she is all alone tonight.

Lovely 4

The cogon grasses have grown tall & thick on the hillside
Both of you hide in there

Nobody sees you
The tall cogon grasses dance wildly to the slow wind

Lovely 5

Four years in the university studying chemistry
You return home finally

You embrace your old mother meeting you by the door
Outside you see the guava tree filled with its ripe yellow fruit odor

So heavily laden like a big Christmas tree

Three Songs Of Shattering

I

The first rose on my rose-tree
Budded, bloomed, and shattered,
During sad days when to me
Nothing mattered.

Grief of grief has drained me clean;
Still it seems a pity
No one saw,—it must have been
Very pretty.

II

Let the little birds sing;
Let the little lambs play;
Spring is here; and so 'tis spring;—
But not in the old way!

I recall a place
Where a plum-tree grew;
There you lifted up your face,
And blossoms covered you.

If the little birds sing,
And the little lambs play,
Spring is here; and so 'tis spring—
But not in the old way!

III

All the dog-wood blossoms are underneath the tree!
Ere spring was going—ah, spring is gone!
And there comes no summer to the like of you and me,—
Blossom time is early, but no fruit sets on.

All the dog-wood blossoms are underneath the tree,
Browned at the edges, turned in a day;
And I would with all my heart they trimmed a mound for me,
And weeds were tall on all the paths that led that way!

Not Finished

A perfect night
the stars are sparkling bright
staring into the sky,
the little house in the creek
sits nestled under the tall mossy tree
the house aged by nature...beautiful
as the rain starts to pour
the tall mossy tree protects the house and its front door
the mossy tree bears the weight of the sky
as the house is kept dry
more clouds swarm in recklessly
lightning cracks as it sets fire to the tall mossy tree
the tree stands strong....
but i doesn't know if it can last long
as the rain runs down the tree's trunk and roots
like tears
