A definition is the enclosing a wilderness of idea within a wall of words.

‘As I argued in my previous book,
‘Some definitions of ‘definition’ in contemporary philosophy’ –
an argument which I hope to pursue
in a following volume, (and I quote) :
‘to define what we mean by ‘definition’
we must first consider
the nature of definition:
can it be itself defined? Is
its definition itself a retreat
from what definition defines? …’
and the wood of academic chairs
creaking as a lecture ends,
from which once the young sap rose
like the hope of definition
dries, decays and dessicates.

Salt Is.... Just Salty
There's so much in this world I cannot explain
The greatest scholars try in vain
Not because the knowledge is so loft
Not because we're growing soft
Nor because it's abstract
But in fact
Quite the opposite
Because some words there's just not a definition that can fit
The problem doesn't come from the objects
It's the simplicity that does perplex
Even the wisest of us all
Our logic does fall
Because it is so far below
How do we define the? What about slow
There's salt, and memory, and even know
What do we know if we don't know such words
People complain of jargon, taxonomic names for birds
But they can't even define what's simple
With that problem, man we got our hands full
We just cop out
Said that salt is salty, the is the, we live without
A real definition, but I think it's those words that are most profound
Belief, God Truth the list goes on, but this is where true wisdom is found
There's the trivial we can seek define
Or there's the words that matter most which will define
Us, it's those words I think that we should not just verbalize
But instead simply realize
That the definition is known by experience
It's indescribable because they're just that amazing
Our inexperience
Of what's unimportant is as tragic as not knowing
Our own Father, and the pursuit of other things to define us
Is as trivial as looking for a definition of truth.

A great Friend
The definition of a great
friend is.....
Sticking by you no matter what.
The definition of a great
friend is...
To dry away wet tears when you are you are down
The definition of a great
friend is....
To unstick you, when your struck
The definition of a great
friend is....
To help you through the hard times
The definition of a great
friend is....
To tell you when are wrong, to teach you to do riight.
The Definition of a great
friend is.....
to pray with you through hard times, to give a hand when your in need and hug you and let you see.
The definition of a
great friend is true, The definition of a great friend is you! ! ! ! ! ! !

An Idea
An Idea can change the world, how many
things can be done from an idea, every piece
of object was an idea, sense the beginning of
time idea was the first thought created in the
mind, an idea is what surround’s every being.
But an idea is still only an idea and it can't be
felt, you cannot touch an idea or kiss it, or hold it,
ideas do not bleed or feel pain or love, an idea
cannot be seen or heard, its created in our thoughts,
but then again an idea can become real. An idea
can be what ever you which it to be, an idea can
be destructive, an idea can be brilliant, I've seen
people get killed in the name of ideas, ideas,
we walk around with a little
light bulb blinking in our thoughts, ideas.

His Writings On The Wall
when he was writing about
walls
he wrote the words on the walls
and they were arranged
like walls
from wall to wall his description
about the wall was
consistently like a wall
walling in all the walls
around the wall
where he was writing
consistently and
uniformly the word
wall, wall, wall, wall
and then nothing but a train of walls like this
wallwallwallwallwallwallwallwallwallw allwallwallwallwallwallwallwallwallwallwall
of course, he did notn add any smoke from steam engine
neither did he add any children and women and even men riding on the
train of walls
there was no driver even
or wheels
what he stressed was just a wall, a wall train, a wall nothing but a wall
walling him in
but what he really wanted at the end was something that should wall him out
something however that until now he is still trying to figure out

What does that mean?
The meaning of life
The meaning of who you are
The meaning of our dreams
How can we define?
What all that really means
Is it the definition of?
Life
Dose that mean we can be
Anything we want to be
Or is it simply
Do what you say
And be forever free
Is it the definition of?
Who you are
Accept your fallacies
And be a better
Human being
Is it the definition of?
Our dreams
Dream the impossible
And live up to your dreams
And make them all real
Who really knows?
What it all really means

Definition Of A Hotti
Ah yeah
The definition of a hotti
R. Kelly is born into the 90's
You know what I'm saying
With the new shebang swing
The definition of a hotti
This track is going out to all the hotties out there
You know what I'm saying
To all the fellas that don't know what a hotti is
I'm here to define the definition
So check this out
Yo here's the definition of a hotti
A girl with Noxema skin and a V-8 body
She can relate with your wildest dreams
By wearing a short skirt or nice tight jeans
She'll put you in shock
And clean you up with clorox
And then you'll say
Damn, the hotti body is bare box
Lipstick shining
Earings glistening
Yo listen to me
As I kick the ballistics
Last night
I went to a club, to a club
To see if I could have myself some fun, yeah
All the ladies
Standing on the wall, standing on the wall
I'm not leaving
Till I catch me one, till I catch me one
Cuties, all the cuties
So fine, so fine
We could spend some time
You are, you are
The one, the one for me
Can we have some fun
[chorus]
Hey Hotti
Definition of a Hotti
Hey Hotti
Come on yeah
(x4)
Don't too many fellas turn her on
But if you're kicking the funkies
Then her word is born
Its best to blend in with the program, yo
Play the same game
And then say thanks ma'am
Some hotties like to pose
But they warm you up
Just like a hot buttered roll
Some hotties don't carry a purse
Yeah it gets worse
Check the second verse
Last night
I took her out, I took her out
To see what we could get into
What we could get into
She showed me what she was all about
Hotti go it going on
What's a man to do, what's a man to do
[chorus]
Hotties play games
Like when you got with your fame
They sit back
Act like they don't even know your name
Playing it smooth
Until the very last minute
Drive up in a Benzo huh
Yeah they'll jump in it
And satisfy you like Snickers
You see them with their girlfriends
You can't get with em
The H O T T I
Is on a mission
Fellas
I Hope you're listening
Yo Yo
Wait a minute man
Yo R. Kelly man, yo
I know what you're saying about the
Definition of a hotti and all man
But tell the public where all these hotties come from
Alright bet
I'm'a break the track down right here
Let all the homies kick it off for me
You know what I'm saying?
New York
Got the hotties
LA
Yeah, they got the hotties
Detroit
They got the hotties
Chicago
Come on they got the hotties
Atlanta
They got the hotties
Philly
They got the hotties, yeah
Texas
They got the hotties
Boston
Come on they got the hotties
D C
They got the hotties
Miami
Come on they got the hotties
Denver
Yeah they got the hotties
Virginia
And they got the hotties
Cleveland
They got the hotties
Pheonix
Come on they got the hotties
Oakland
They got the hotties
Milwaukee
Yeah they got the hotties
St. Louis
They got the hotties
London
They got the hotties
Ah yeah
This is going out to all the hotties
From across the world
You know what I'm saying
Just to let you know
I got your number
Peace and I'm out

Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, live on idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.

Palindrome - All seeing eye that misses nothing
all seeing eye that misses nothing
and triangle; it's enclosing mystery
of deadly snake that enters then
night covering the womb of darkness,
awakening more than eye
and gold like cages enclosing angels
entrance guarding my temple of sleep
soul knows all in secret:
as soul breaks all locks
and locks all breaks soul,
as secret in all knows soul
sleep of temple, my guarding entrance,
angels enclosing cages like gold
and eye than more awakening,
darkness of womb the covering night
then enters that snake, deadly
of mystery, enclosing it's triangle;
and nothing misses that eye seeing all.

Writing On The Wall
Words and music by rick nielsen
All right, I saw the writing on the wall.
All night, I saw the writing on the wall,
I saw the writing on the wall.
Lo and behold, heard it on the radio.
It was a long time comin, but it sounds so sweet, come on, man, get off my back.
All right, I saw the writing on the wall.
All night, I saw the writing on the wall,
I saw the writing on the wall.
In the midwest and in the east.
Canada, southwest, around the world,
L.a., tokyo, sounds so sweet,
Come on honey, get on your feet.
All right, I saw the writing on the wall.
All night, I saw the writing on the wall,
I saw the writing on the wall.
The words were oh, so...
The words were oh, so clear.
All right, I saw the writing on the wall.
All night, I saw the writing on the wall,
I saw the writing on the wall.
Lo and behold, heard it on the radio.
It was a long time comin, but it sounds so sweet, come on, man, get off my back.
Saw it at the airport, it was on t.v.
Read it in a magazine, runnin down the street.
Makes no sense, but I hope its gonna last,
The next big thing, I really gotta laugh.
Worked and slaved and played like hell,
Everybodys goin crazy, youre the last to know.
Cant explain it, still a joke to me,
Maybe Im naive, cause its so plain to see.
Its right in front of your face, man.
Its right in front of your face, man.
Played like hell, whoa!
Played like hell, whoa!

As we reach midlife . we are not prepared for the idea that time can run out on us, or for the startling truth that if we don't hurry to pursue our own definition of a meaningful existence, life can become a repetition of trivial maintenance duties.

I Am Inside This Cage
i am inside this cage
made all of words and images
i sometimes think of escaping
like a dove winging away from all
these rings and vertical lines
yet i am still here
and one day the cage opens by itself
and i go out
like a child of the house when
mother is away
and i meet the wind
and the trees
and the tendrils of the
squash
i may have gone outside
for a while
and here i am again
getting inside this cage
enclosing myself
with its door
i like it here
there are so many words
and images
and metaphors.

C'est Fini Paris
words would only lie
in the folds of table-cloth and die
their eyes measured and withdrew touch
across the wilderness of inner space
they listened for the sounds of breaking through a wall
clung hold to cups pale tasteless empty of it all
and then they rose and flew
slow wing beats trailing feathers

The Irony of Love
Irony is a literary or rhetorical device.
The essayist Henry Watson Fowler wrote:
“any definition of irony
—though hundreds might be given,
and very few of them would be accepted—
must include this,
that the surface meaning
and the underlying meaning of
what is said are not the same.'
He left out that any definition of
Irony must include that it is cruel.
I never understood
The meaning of irony
Or how cruel it can be,
Until you told me,
That though you may love me,
You find it difficult to
Hear the words
“I love you” from me.
You see, some three years ago
You jokingly said
'I love you' to me,
And I begged you
Never to utter those words again.
Not because I did not want to hear them,
But because they were difficult for me.
They carried heart-felt consequences
That I did not want to face.
So, I shut out my heart and followed my head.
And in life filled with so many regrets,
It was the biggest mistake I ever made.
The irony,
After some thousand days have past,
You uttered the same
Imprudent sentiment to me.
This sentiment is the definition of irony –
The surface meaning
And underlying meaning are not the same.
Because although I asked you not to say
“I love you”,
It is all I wanted to hear.
The cruelty,
That now that heaven has at last
Blessed, cursed me with
Clarity of the heart,
And I want to say what I mean
With no different underlying sentiment,
You tell me you do not
Want to hear these words from me.
But the most ironic and cruelest part,
Will be,
If you make the same mistake I made
And keep from me what is within your heart.

Wilderness Flower
Wilderness flower
Wilderness flower
Beautiful in its innocent blue
In morning young hour
And rain falling shower
Your color is sweetness so true
Like pearls on spring earth
With glowing of light
Each pure and so worth
In arrangement and sight
Wilderness flower
Wearing its headdress so right
My love calls to you
(In the Icelandic wilderness, the first sign of spring are the little flowers you see everywhere – in their blossoming freedom)

The Wall That I See
always this wall
this wall, always, this,
wall, always
i see, and face, and
grasp, and feel
with my palms, and touch
with my fingers
never love it
but i am in here surrounded
always, by this, wall,
this, wall, this wall,
always, i dream of
overcoming this, wall
this height,
i dream of ladders,
and tall feet, and i always,
look beyond this,
this wall, this.
