There was the joke about Switzerland being an island surrounded by land. This was never true.

All I Want To Do
(chorus)
I don't like the work but true I need the money
My life is like a joke but to me is isn't funny
Peolpe all around, telling me what to do
And all I want to do is stay at home with you
Time after time I say to myself
Working all my life isn't good for my health
Get old, get tired, get put on the shelf
I do all the work, someone else gets all the wealth
Wish I was on an island in the sun
Where I woouldn't have to worry how to get things done
(chorus)
I don't like the work but true I need the money
My life is like a joke but to me is isn't funny
Peolpe all around, telling me what to do
And all I want to do is stay at home with you
Day after day becomes more of a grind
Bills pile up, moneys harder to find
Trying to get ahead money's harder to find
If I don't give it up i'm gonna lose my mind
Wish I was on an island in the sun
Where I wouldn't have to worry how to get things done
(chorus)
I don't like the work but true I need the money
My life is like a joke but to me is isn't funny
Peolpe all around, telling me what to do
And all I want to do is stay at home with you

The Island poem.
The Island was there surrounded by sea,
Where the family stayed, so much to see;
The birds flying in the sky, and on the water too,
Yes! They were enjoying their holiday, it's true.
The Island stretched for many a mile, they could see,
With plenty of shells, and sand, the sunsets so pretty;
The Coconut palms, and date palms, to walk in the cool,
And the children enjoyed it all, for there was no school.
The husband enjoyed to go fishing each day,
The children loved to run on the sand and play;
The wife, she enjoyed it too, to rest under the tree,
Then she called them all at night, it is time for tea.
The Island holiday soon came to an end,
The children said, our holiday we can pretend;
That we are still on our lovely holiday retreat,
And remember the birds, and the birds so sweet.
Have you ever been to an Island, for a holiday?
Maybe you travelled far, to Queensland, is what you'd say;
Or was it somewhere in the Islands of the south see?
You'll know it was a holiday to feel so very free.

We live on an island surrounded by a sea of ignorance. As our island of knowledge grows, so does the shore of our ignorance.

Islands
Island in the sea
Are so much like me
They dont ever change--no emotion, no emotion
Islands on the land
Dry like desert sand
Island in the city
All alone its such a pity
Chorus
Its just a masquerade
Just painted laces
When will it change
Never
Islands in the seas
Whats come over me
We are both surrounded by the water--empty water
Give me mystery--and the fear it brings
Anything at all to break up the monotony
Chorus
Islands in the sea
Forever . . . forever

In The Island Of Desire
i live here in this island of desire
i am happier here now
on this circular island surrounded
by so many colored fishes
and corals and rocks and urchins
i live here alone and yet so happy
in this solitude where i am
the only truth.

This Land Is Your Land
Well I rode that ribbon highway
I saw above me the endless sky
I saw below me the golden valley
This land was made for you and me
Ive roamed and rambled and followed my footsteps
Through the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts
And all around me a voice was calling
This land was made for you and me
This land is your land
This land is my land
From california
To the new york island
From the redwood forest
To the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me
Well the sun came shining and I was strolling
Through wheat fields waving and dust clouds rolling
And a voice was sounding
As the fog was lifting
Saying this land was made for you and me
This land is your land
This land is my land
From california
To the new york island
From the redwood forest
To the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me

Everything Goes
You live your life
You live like an island
Satisfied
You live for the moment
Here you come
You make it look easy
I bet you smile in your sleep
Are you smiling at me
You live your life
You live like an island
Surrounded by
Water and silence
Mmm there you go
You make it look easy
I bet you laugh at yourself
Are you laughing at me
'Cause sometimes anything goes
When you're looking at me
And sometimes everything goes
When you're looking at me
So come on

You, In The Crowd, Miss...
You, in the crowd, Miss,
surrounded by loudness
and smoke
have you ever thought how this
World is God's greatest joke?
Cars driving on by
Bums standing in lunchlines...
That might be the intro,
but it's surely not the punchline...
Sometimes I see the saddest eyes
Why can't I just be satisfied?
B'cuz, God, even when the sky is sunny
I still don't think the joke is funny! !
None of us folks
like to hear your cruel jokes, man!
I see another broke man
standing in torn clothes on the coast's sand
The precious coast
is mostly occupied by coke cans
And the rich get the most land
While the poor get the crumbs
Maybe thats why most kids take tokes to get dumb
Cuz they're born into a beauty
thats been decaying for a while
God, quit telling jokes...
unless they actually make us smile.

Dry Land
(music: hogarth / woore lyrics: steve hogarth)
In all the time that Ive known you
Youve been so edgy and nervous
I never wanted to own you
I was aware of the danger
Of making a bid for your favours
Youre such a natural stranger
I made excuses and ran
Youre an island
But I cant leave you all out at sea
Youre so violent with your silence
Youre an island
I cant sleep
Wont you speak to me
Im on dry land
Wont you help me please
In all the time that Ive known you
There has been something between us
I dont think its my imagination
I felt like I couldnt touch you
But I had the feeling youd love to
Tell me the truth if you could do
I made excuses and ran
Youre an island
But I cant leave you all out at sea
Youre so violent with your silence
Youre an island I cant sleep
Wont you speak to me
Im on dry land
Wont you help me please
Youre an island
But I cant leave you all out at sea
Youre so violent with your silence
Youre an island I cant sleep
Wont you speak to me
Im on dry land
Wont you help me please

Certainly Lost! ! Not.
I am beseeching in the land of thoughts without any kingdom of my own,
Without any want, without any gain, in an island surrounded by the foes;
Without the artilleries, the armour or the sword,
For winning the battle;
Sure, I'll lost in the battle with my foes,
Not for their sympathy or for their liberty,
Or in the hope to win,
But I'll remain speechless and emotionless till the end!

Island
Sometimes it seems like yesterday
Other times more than a million years
Oh little girl sweeter than an angel
When I think of her I laugh,
And drown in my own tears
You draw your first breath so close to me
Now weve been apart for years and years
She can wash the land away, tides turning everyday,
All I really came to say is
I still love you my sweet island
Maybe times will someday build a bridge for us
Somewhere father down the line; I know
But for you this;
To show you whos on my mind
She can wash the land away, tides turning everyday,
All I really came to say is
I still love you my sweet island
Whatever they may say about my silence
Remember Im an island too
Were connected by more than an ocean
My blood runs in you
She can wash the land away, tides turning everyday,
All I really came to say is
I still love you my sweet island

No Fears, No Hassles
imagine that i am stranded
on an island surrounded by a big
body of water
infested with sharks,
imagine the fear
and the loneliness
and the alienation
but then, i always imagine
that you are with me
and i am with you
and that you are my god
who shall never leave me
and so on this island
where i am alone (i am not
equated with sadness
and loneliness)
i shall think of love
i shall always see
the fidelity of the sun and moon
and the sea that comes in waves
bringing me the
promise
the good news that soon
all these
will be over.

Cracker Hacker
When is a joke not really a joke?
When it is said by a Heating and AC man--
Named as a Pastor in California---
Out in Orange County land;
He's been known to help the Guru---
In some of his most rage -filled plans---
Heating and AC pollution...
Can give you: 'Heavy Metal Hands';
Now we already know about Bot.net...
And have found out about a few other things...
We know that he is still an uninvited guest...!
Yes, through my back door he swings! ;
He's a cracker thats for absolute sure...! ! !
A most devious computer hound...
With eyes on my: 'home kitchen'
With enough rope...he's prison bound! ;
So, when is a joke not really a joke?
When it is supposedly told by a Heating and AC man--
He was named as the Guru's Pastor---
Out in Orange County land;
Signed: One of His victims (Theo Onken)
And dedicated to all things:
'Past and Fluffy'

Let Me Think Of An Island
an island
surrounded by sharks
i am in this island
and you are in the nearby island
we wish to touch
we cannot so we only communicate through signs
of our hands
we try to speak but the wind carries our voices away
so we cannot really figure out
what we are saying
i cannot take the risk of swimming the sea
infested with sharks
i still love my life and risking it for you
will not be worth it
so here we are
helplessly devoted to each other
unable to touch
yet always promising to love and be with each other.
aren't we foolish?
i admit i am, and i admit that in the last analysis
let me quote the famous self-centered actress:
i admit i love
but i love me better than you.
am i foolish? i admit i am.
But that is the truth.

It Is A Joke
it is a joke
and it will always be
a joke
that how it is,
it is a joke, my own joke, and i laugh
when i remember it,
i send it to you and you send it back
like a ping-pong ball
it bounces and i see it coming
back to me
it hits me right in my eyes
got double vision, cross-eyed
i am hurt. It is not a joke anymore.
it is here beside
a tear, a bruise, stained and scarred.

This Is Just Nothing
he said they were together for days on the island
of their desires
just the two of them
enjoying the nights there
as lovers
she said she remembered all those
lovely nights with him
her hair watered by his kisses
his weight all over her
and she was helplessly
in love
he said she was part of his past
now that he is old
and ugly
and helpless in poverty
with another woman
caring for him
and a child
to be cared
by him alone
as he is weak
and dying
she said she had forgotten him
her first love
she said she lives alone in a wintry land
and knows how to take care of herself
she said she is happy
and now so free
i told her things may be lost and people may be hurt
but chances are
there are rainbows sometimes that reconnect hearts
bridges that dissolves distances
i told her that some missing pieces are found
some chains of love become a necklace of reunions
and reconciliations
i did not tell her though because it is so hurting
that
he did not really love her that whole
and true
when he made love to her on that island of desire
he was thinking of another one
his true love
that once broke his heart many years ago
when once he
was whole and true and young and
honest and real
