Your mind can't always tell the difference between pretend and reality if you pretend too long; or if you go too deep and really believe in what you're doing. If you're going to be that kind of actor and go way out there, it's really important to take care of yourself and have a safe place, whatever that is.

Actor Of Love
Hold on
I have found something I longing for
To fill the hollowness of my heart
But why I'm feeling more of sorrow
Before
I am the one who said: 'Oh, I'll control'
But now I realize you are my world
And it's waiting to break apart
I'm an actor of love
I'm trying to perfect
But I'm just fooling around
I'm an actor of love
I want to be your hero
But I've made myself a clown
I'm an actor of love
I need you by my side
But now you leave me alone
I'm an actor of love
I beg your forgiveness
But you refuse me so cold
Sometimes
We wonder why we should be together
Do we really dream of love forever?
Or we afraid to be alone
I'm an actor of love
I want to protect you
But I always hurt you bad
I'm an actor of love
I want to be your shield
But may turn someone you hate
I'm an actor of love
We kiss in the morning
But in night we have a war
I'm an actor of love
We care for each other
But we only circle round
If this love only makes me crazy
Take the story and just let it be
Tragedy or comedy
Or anything it wants to be

Well, an actor is an actor is actor, to paraphrase someone or other and the opportunity to work, to have a steady engagement, certainly seemed like an appealing concept to me.

I trained as a theater actor and you had a bare stage and you had to pretend, one prop and you are in the middle of 8th Ave. and traffic is just going by.

Behind the Scenes
The actor struts his little hour,
Between the limelight and the band;
The public feel the actor's power,
Yet nothing do they understand
Of all the touches here and there
That make or mar the actor's part,
They never see, beneath the glare,
The artist striving after art.
To them it seems a labour slight
Where nought of study intervenes;
You see it in another light
When once you've been behind the scenes.
For though the actor at his best
Is, like a poet, born not made,
He still must study with a zest
And practise hard to learn his trade.
So, whether on the actor's form
The stately robes of Hamlet sit,
Or as Macbeth he rave and storm,
Or plays burlesque to please the pit,
'Tis each and all a work of art,
That constant care and practice means --
The actor who creates a part
Has done his work behind the scenes.

I Cant Pretend
Charles tobias / paul rusincky (w. edward breuder? )
I cant pretend
Im sorry were apart
I cant pretend
I just cant fool my heart
Though I make mine
My friends all seem to realize
Their smiles, that look in my eye
I cant pretend
I simply cant be gayer
For in the end
My tears give me away
Without you dear
I live a lie
I cant defend
I love you
And I cant pretend

It's A Fact
that those who pretend
to be asleep
are the hardest people to wake
and so i pretend too that i do not know that you are pretending.
in this way
we are even.
i pretend that i am wide awake
in the middle of my
resentful sleep.

Most people don't know that I am an accomplished dramatic actor... But I've performed in several Shakespeare productions including Hamlet, except in this version, Hamlet lives in an apartment with two women, and has to pretend he's gay so that the landlord won't evict him.

Just Pretend
(words & music by flett - fletcher)
Just pretend, Im holding you
And whispering things soft and low
And think of me, how its gonna be,
Just pretend I didnt go
When I walked away, I heard you say
If you need me, you know what to do
I knew it then, Id be back again
Just pretend Im right there with you
And Ill come flying to you, oh yes
All the crying is true
Oh, I will hold you and love you again
But until then, well just pretend
Oh, its funny but I cant recall the things
We said or why youre crying
But now I know it was wrong to go
I belong here by your side

Know My Name
What kind of situation
Have I brought upon myself
Some kind of bad reaction
Blamed it all on someone else
Don't pretend like you know my name
Cause I ain't never seen you before
You got me laughing at me
Laughing all about myself
I had a drink last Friday
Heard the news from someone else
Don't pretend like you know my name
Cause I ain't never seen you before
You got me running
Running far from myself
You got me coming
Coming home to someone else
Don't pretend like you know my name
Cause I ain't never seen you before
Cause I ain't never seen you before
Don't pretend like you know my name
Cause I ain't never seen you before
