Too Dark
When I was growing up I used to be ashamed of my complexion.
I used to think I was too dark.
My brother was so light he could nearly pass as white. My sister was that cream in the coffee color just like my mother and my father but me I was the midnight child too dark.
Kids used to call me spook and gorilla because of my dark skin. They would say if the lights go out the only way I could be found was to grin. I was too dark.
Too dark is what I thought until I heard James Brown scream “say it loud I’m black and I’m proud.” I also saw the ladies start to smile at me and claim “the darker the berry the sweeter the juice.”
I ‘m now proud of my complexion and no more do I think I’m too dark.

Dysmorphia
To others, she appeared so fair,
Her blonde hair long and silky
Her eyes intelligent and kind,
her complexion clear and milky.
She saw herself quite differently
in the mirror of her mind.
She thought her breasts a lttle small,
with a much too large behind.
So, unhappy with her looks,
she stayed apart, alone.
She turned down dates from hopeful mates
and stayed most nights at home
So she sought out the surgeons knife
to perfect her derriere.
The infection that she died from
is, fortunately, quite rare.
Our ladies should be happy
with the gifts that nature gave.
Not risk all on a tragic end
while being Fashion's slave

Loves Exposure
To expose your love for her in such a way is sometimes exhilarating.
Even more so then the secret love know one is suppose to know about.
Light the flame and let it burn for all eternity.
Let the embers never fade but glisten and glow the brightest reds, oranges and yellows.
Just remember a flower has only so many petals.
