As a performer, much of my life has been spent in the spotlight. I know how important appearance can be to teens, especially the impact it can have on the way you feel about yourself.

A Lure For The Spotlight
A lure for the spotlight
lies in everyone somewhere.
At some point in our lives,
everyone wants the centre stage
and have the spotlight on them.
Some just dream about it
to pass the time away,
other have a natural gift
and in the spotlight stay.
When the spotlight shines on you
scrutinizing everything you do,
you want it to go away.
You want your life
to go back to the way it was.
However, when the spotlight
has been on you
it will never leave you alone.
It will be with you
for the rest of your days.

And at the same time, you are of course a performer, but it's very important that you understand that your role as a performer is to get the best performance from those wonderful colleagues that you have the chance to work with.

Spotlight Kid
You dont know whats happening, you want to go home
But theres nowhere to hide
You walk out on stage, your first time alone
The crowds going wild
And you feel so alive
You could stand up and take this all night
They love you but youre in love with the spotlight
Youre the spotlight kid
Jokers and women they hang round your door
Theyre all part of the scene
Just like a junkie youve got to have more
Its a pleasure machine
And you fly every night
But the dressing room mirror dont lie
They love you but youre in love with the spotlight
Youre the spotlight kid
Your audience died, faded away
Leaving you on the stage
Its been so many years since that first matinee
It seems like an age
Encore one more time
For the ghosts of the past in your mind
They love you but youre in love with the spotlight
Youre the spotlight kid
Youre living in a dream
Youre the spotlight kid
Youre in love with the spotlight

Spotlight
(eric carmen)
Get my guitar
Get the car Im gonna take a little strip out of town
Gotta go do a show
Rock and roll until Im upside down
(I see the light) I see the light
Hear the crowd
Clappin loud, they want the show to start
Oh, and now the stage is dark
Mmm, I can feel my heart
Cant you feel your heart
Spotlight, lighting the stage
I gotta go a little crazy tonight
Spotlight, take me away
Im gonna rock till I feel alright
Here it comes
Feel the drums pound the rhythm of a jungle beat
And all around
Hear the sounds that go up and down the city street
(play that guitar) play that guitar
Play it hard
Open up and let it move your soul
Oh, Im goin out of control
Im goin out of control
Cant you feel it grow
Spotlight, lighting the stage
I gotta go a little crazy tonight
Spotlight, take me away
Im gonna rock till I feel alright
Spotlight, give me the heat
Im gonna burn like a star in the sky
Spotlight, Im gonna explode now
Im ready to go, Im ready to go
Alright
Spotlight, lighting the stage
I gotta go a little crazy tonight
Spotlight, take me away
Im gonna rock till I feel alright
Spotlight, give me the heat
I wanna burn like a star in the sky
Spotlight, I wanna explode now (yeah)
Im ready to go, Im ready to go
Alright, alright
Alright, alright
(give it to me)
Spotlight
Feel the drums pound the rhythm of a jungle beat
Spotlight
Cant you feel it, feel it, feel it, feel it

Execute The Sounds
I'm on a mad style
Underground, we come cool and deadly
With that natural sound
It make you feel so free, you no turn it down
Vibe 6-19 from the Southtown
And Jah know, what I and I wanna do
Because Jah know, I am man stay true
You know Jah know, the real who is who
Ain't no time to fake it, make ya feel brand new
It goes 1,2,3. The crew is called P.O.D.
And if you wanna go to the tip top
Break it down, with that one drop - Whyoo
Execute the sounds, and positive come around
Impact the sounds, positive all around
Execute the sounds, and positive come around
Impact the sounds, positive all around
Now why mess me, try to take his crown.
Babylon test me, we gonna smash em down
Original O.G. this is my playground
Don't take me seriously, you gonna feel it now
I man, you know the harder they come
Because I man, I'm gonna get the job done
You know I man, no they don't want none
Me never have to cheat cause me already won.
19'04, home to the real hardcore.
And you don't wanna sleep, don't talk
I'll break you down with that one drop - Whyoo
Execute the sounds, and positive come around
Impact the sounds, positive all around
Execute the sounds, and positive come around
Impact the sounds, positive all around
Execute the sounds, and positive come around
Impact the sounds, positive all around
Execute the sounds, and positive come around
Impact the sounds, positive all around

Kids, Teenagers And Adults
kids are fun
teens are cool
adults are serious even in the pool
we grow up never down
so let's enjoy while we can
a boy is a mess
a girl is a princess
teens are the same
and parents are the blame.
i'm just kidding because humour is fun
and life is dull.

Dust Collector
Not as close to center.
And away from the spotlight,
On life's stage.
This becomes evident and noticed,
By the one who becomes of age.
And having it one's way...
Is given.
Without swaying any one's opinion.
'Hey why not?
They are not going to be around here,
That long! '
~They who?
I'm aging too and so are you!
IF you're 'lucky'.~
A withering in appearance,
Is experienced as this 'blessing' occurs.
And the one who goes through the process adapts.
Since encouraging words seem to overflow as heard!
Coming from those still in their youth.
'You seem to be lost!
Do you need help crossing the street? '
~I need no help.
I happen to be thinking of a new recipe,
Thank you! ~
Reminding those who are aging...
How brave it is to have that much nerve,
To allow it to show and be done.
Leaving those in their youth,
Stunned by someone over the age of '31'...
Loving the act of aging!
'Mister, I heard you.
And you are well over '31'.
You are old enough to be my grandfather.'
~And I am willing to bet,
Your 'grandfather' never suggested...
Kids like yourself,
Need to learn how to mind your own business.
I could care less about you being in the spotlight.
I can shine just as bright and with more lustre without it.~
'Listen up...dust collector!
I don't have to pay you any attention at all,
Old man!
Wrap that around those aching bones and wrinkles.'

Even though there's an entertainment value to the film, I think it's very important because you can't really separate the impact of that political message from it. It's rare that you get films like that I think; that really have an important message and are also entertaining.
