Once you discover that you can, then you must. And it's not easy. You have to take direct steps. You really have to count your blessings and you have to make a decided effort to not get seduced by the blues.

Count Your Blessings
Everyday we should count our blessings,
for everything we have,
for somewhere in the world,
there are those who will never have,
all the things we take for granted.
So count your blessings for all the food you eat,
because somewhere some are starving,
and would give anything to eat.
Therefore, the next time you come home,
and sit in a comfortable chair,
stop for a moment and look around,
and count your blessing for everything you got.

The Blues Come Around
Once I was happy as I could be but I let a gal make a fool of me
And ever since she let me down the blues come around when the sun comes down
Oh the blues come around oh the blues come around
Lard the blues come around every evenin' when the sun goes down
[ guitar ]
As the sun is in the sky those doggone blues never make me cry
But ever since she left this town the blues come around when the sun goes down
Oh the blues come around...
[ fiddle ]
I've built my castle very high and then she went and said goodbye
Ever since she poured 'em down the blues come around when the sun goes down
Oh the blues come around...
[ steel ]
Once she called me all her own but now she's gone and I'm alone
And every evenin' I'm sorrow bound
Cause the blues come around when the sun goes down
Oh the blues come around...
[ guitar ]
Oh the blues come around...

Underlying Depression
Underlying depression, have to crawl into my room
Underlying depression dont want to know about the moon in june
Outside theres a cavalcade of clowns but they're bringing me down
With underlying depression
Underlying depression and its starting in my backyard
Underlying depression, and these times aint even so hard
Lord I was born with the blues and my blue suede shoes
And underlying depression
Underlying depresslon and theres ust nowhere to turn
Underlying depression and things just seem to turn in on one
Sometimes Im stuck in the corner just like little jack horner
With underlying depression
Underlying depression and I just cant get it right
Underlying depression Ive got to fight it with all of my might
Right now I dont want to be alone
Get my baby on the telephone
Underlying depression
Have to make some concessions when everything is working right
Have to count my blessings, helps me make it through the night
Ive got love in my life as well as trouble and strife
And underlying depression
Underlying depression, underlying depression, underlying depression
Aint nothing but the blues
Underlying depression aint nothing but the blues
Underlying depression, aint nothing but the blues
Underlying depression

It Dont Come Easy
(it dont come easy, you know it dont come easy)
(it dont come easy, you know it dont come easy)
Got to pay your dues if you want to sing the blues
And you know it dont come easy
You dont have to shout or leap about
You can even play them easy
Forget about the past and all your sorrow
The future wont last
It will soon be your tomorrow
I dont ask for much, I only want your trust
And you know it dont come easy
And this love of mine keeps growing all the time
And you know it dont come easy
Open up your heart, lets come together
Use a little luck, and we will make it work out better
Got to pay your dues if you want to sing the blues
And you know it dont come easy
You dont have to shout or leap about
You can even play them easy
Please remember peace is how we make it
Here withing your reach, is your freedom to take it
I dont ask for much, I only want your trust
And you know it dont come easy
(de de de) growing all the time
And you know it dont come easy
(thank you)

Nothin' Is Easy
Nothing is easy. Though time gets you worrying my friend it's okay.
Just take your life easy and stop all that hurrying; be happy my way.
When tension starts mounting and you've lost count of the pennies you've missed,
Just try hard and see why they're not worrying me; they're last on my list.
Nothing's easy.
Nothing is easy. You'll find that the squeeze won't turn out so bad.
Your fingers may freeze. Worse things happen at sea.
There's good times to be had.
So if you're alone and you're down to the bone, just give us a play.
You'll smile in a while and discover that I'll get you happy my way
Nothing's easy

Talent That Is Given
Would you ask a mason,
To build you a home?
Because it appears...
He enjoys laying bricks.
Would you ask an architect,
To design it for you...
Without a thought of paying for it.
Would you ask someone to 'act' for you?
Because that's what you know they do.
And acting seems easy too?
That's what many people think.
Until they discover each would printed...
Has to be absorbed into the brain to sink.
Without pauses or thoughts to make one blink.
If that is not in the script!
And what would you get from that?
A satisfaction you believe,
Others are wishing to supply?
Or are you just a dreamer?
Thinking what seems easy for others...
So you also wish to give that a try!
Just because one does what one enjoys...
Does not mean it comes easy.
Well...
Maybe for them it does.
Because that's what they wish to do.
Like some folks climb mountains.
While others jump from planes...
Using a parachute.
Or perhaps you believe it takes less work
To get what you observe,
Done.
Whatever it is.
You believe for you will be equal fun.
Well...
Let me say this!
If something done appears easy.
And it has a quality.
Someone has taken hours, years...
And maybe a lifetime to perfect it.
And a talent that is given...
Does not diminish the time one gives to it.
WORK is involved!
With a concentrated effort.

Need-a-man Blues
Another monday morning
Another five day week ahead
Such a lonely weekend
Sleeping in a half filled bed
Got those need-a-man blues
I need a man so bad
Got those need-a-man blues
And its driving me mad
All the evening people
Dressing up just to get undressed
And me Im stuck at home
Losing more and gaining less
Got those need-a-man blues
I need a man so bad
Got those need-a-man blues
And its driving me mad
Emptiness inside
Empty as a glass in my hand
Whisky friend of mine
Help me make it easy without
Got those need-a-man blues
I need a man so bad
Got those need-a-man blues
And its driving me mad
Baby baby baby
Goes the singer on my hi-fi
Honey honey honey
My reply
Got those need-a-man blues
I need a man so bad
Got those need-a-man blues
And its driving me mad
Emptiness inside
Empty as a glass in my hand
Whisky friend of mine
Help me make it easy without
Got those need-a-man blues
I need a man so bad
Got those need-a-man blues
And its driving me mad
Another monday morning
Another five day week ahead
Such a lonely weekend
Sleeping in a half filled bed
Got those need-a-man blues
I need a man so bad
Got those need-a-man blues
And its driving me mad

Blues Of The Months
The blues of January,
The blues of February,
The blues of March,
The blues of April,
The blues of May,
The blues of June,
The blues of July,
The blues of August,
The blues of September,
The blues of October,
The blues of November,
The blues of December,
Meet me there if you can!
And like Glory-Land and Merry-land;
But my home will always accept in your sweet blues.

You Make It Easy
Never been here - How about you ? "
You smile at my answer,
You've given me the chance,
To be held and understood.
You leave me laughing without crying,
There's no use denying,
For many times I've tried,
Love has never felt as good.
Be it downtown or way up in the air,
When your heart's pounding,
You know that I'm aware.
You make it easy to watch the world with love,
You make it easy to let the past be done,
You make it easy.
How'd you do it ? How'd you find me ?
How did I find you ?
How can this be true ?
To be held and understood.
Keep it coming - no one's running
The lesson I'm learning
'Cause blessings are deserved
By the trust that always could
Be it downtown or way up in the air,
When your heart's pounding,
You know that I'm aware.
You make it easy to watch the world with love,
You make it easy to let the past be done,
You make it easy.
You make it easy to watch the world with love,
You make it easy to let the past be done,
You make it easy.

Eight Easy Steps
How to stay paralyzed by fear of abandonment
How to defer to men in solve-able predicaments
How to control someone to be a carbon copy of you
How to have that not work and have them run away from you
How to keep people at arm's length and never get too close
How to mistrust the ones you supposedly love the most
How to pretend you're fine and don't need help from anyone
How to feel worthless unless you're serving or helping someone
I'll teach you all this in eight easy steps
A course of a lifetime you'll never forget
I'll show you how to in eight easy steps
I'll show you how leadership looks when taught by the best
How to hate women when you're supposed to be a feminist
How to play all pious when you're really a hypocrite
How to hate god when you're a pray-er and a spiritualist
How to sabotage your fantasies by fears of success
I'll teach you all this in eight easy steps
A course of a lifetime you'll never forget
I'll show you how to in eight easy steps
I'll show you how leadership looks when taught by the best
I've been doing research for years
I've been practicing my ass off
I've been training my whole life for this moment I swear to you
Culminating just to be this well-versed leader before you
I'll teach you all this in eight easy steps
A course of a lifetime you'll never forget
I'll show you how to in eight easy steps
I'll show you how leadership looks when taught by the best
How to lie to yourself and thereby to everyone else
How to keep smiling when you're thinking of killing yourself
How to numb a la holic to avoid going within
How to stay stuck in blue by blaming them for everything
I'll teach you all this in eight easy steps
A course of a lifetime you'll never forget
I'll show you how to in eight easy steps
I'll show you how leadership looks when taught by the best

Pms Blues
Eve you wicked woman, you done put your curse on me
Why didnt you just leave that apple hangin in the tree
You make us hate our husbands, our lovers and our boss
Why I cant even count the good friends Ive already lost
Cause of pms blues, pms blues
I dont even like myself, but its something I cant help
I got those God almighty, slap somebody pms blues
Most times Im easy going, some say Im good as gold
But when Im pms I tell ya, I turn mean and cold
Those not afflicted with it are affected just the same
You poor old men didnt have to grin and say I feel your pain
Pms blues, pms blues
You know you must forgive us for we care not what we do
I got those cant stop crying, dishes flying pms blues
But you know we cant help it
We dont even know the cause
But as soon as this parts over, then comes the menopause
Oh, lord, oh, lord
Were going to always be a heap of fun
Like the devil taking over my body, suffering, suffering, suffering
Everybodys suffering, huh?
But a woman had to write this song, a man would be scared to
Lest he be called a chauvenist or just fall victim to
Those pms blues
You know wed kill for less than that
Pms blues
You dont want to cross my path
Cause a pitbull aint no match
For these teeth a clenchin, fluid retention
Head a swellin, cant stop yellin
Got no patience, Im so hateful
Pms blues, premenstrual syndrome
Got those moods a swingin, tears a slingin
Nothin fits me when it hits me
Rantin, ravin, misbehavin
Pms blues
Its the only time in my life I ever think about wishing Id been a man
But you know that only means one thing
If Id have been a man, Id be somewhere right this very minute
With some old cranky, naggin, raggin hateful woman
With those old pms blues
Pms blues
I dont want to talk about it, we both could do without it
Got those treat your kids bad, dont you talk back
Gone ballistic, unrealistic
Awful lowdown, bitch to be around
Pms blues

A Thought For Your Anniversary
Don't count your decade
By the days that fade
Don't count your years
By the falling tears
Don't count your weeks
By the days that were bleak
Don't count your days
By the trouble's ways
Instead count your decades
By the things you have made
Count your years
By joys and cheers
Count your weeks
When you helped out a meek
And count your days
By cheers and prayers
That was sent for both of you
Along with God's love that is true
Because you're starting another year
Of peace and blessings, love and care.
Happy 4th Anniversary Sister

Satellite Blues
She makes the place a jumpin'
The way she moves around
She like a rump and rollin'
That's when she get it out
And when she start a rockin'
She bring me to the boil
She like to give it out some
New satellite blues (new satellite blues)
New satellite blues (new satellite blues)
A picture clear for watchin'
The dish is runnin' hot
The box is set for pumpin'
She gonna take the lot
The way she get the butt in
She's gettin' set to ball
I like to chew it up some
New satellite blues (new satellite blues)
New satellite blues (new satellite blues)
New satellite blues (new satellite blues)
New satellite blues (new satellite blues)
Can't get nothin' on the dial
The frigin' thing gone wild
All I get's the dumbed down news
New satellite blues
New satellite blues (new satellite blues)
New satellite blues (new satellite blues)
I got the satellite blues (new satellite blues)
New satellite blues (new satellite blues)
This thing's nothing but a load of crap
I'm gonna send it right back
You can stick it where it hurts...

Teacher Of Lessons
Shouldn't someone expect,
A life of regretting a planting of misdeeds.
After they have discovered,
The one person they decided to pick on...
Was not the person they thought.
But was a lover of playing cat and mouse.
And that one person they decided to pick on...
Decided not to be the turn the other cheek,
Forgiving kind.
Oh no.
This one decided it was time to teach a mind.
And had in fact been a teacher of lessons.
With a knack of customizing lesson plans.
Suitable to be understood,
As to 'who' one should have left alone.
To make it clear it is best not to judge a book,
By its cover for effective results to get.
Especially if one is not familiar with the contents.
Shouldn't someone expect,
A life of regretting...
After they have discovered,
The one person they decided to pick on...
Has long been a master of human interaction.
And...
Had in fact,
Been a teacher of lessons.
With a knack of customizing lesson plans.
Some less painful to accept when delivered direct,
Than those taught unexpectedly to leave the student...
Frrling unsure what test is coming next.
Why do some people pick those to be subjected,
They believe to them will be easy to shame...
With a branding of a quick defamation.

My Old Friend The Blues
Just when every ray of hope was gone
I should have known that you would come along
I cant believe I ever doubted you
My old friend the blues
Another lonely night, a nameless town
If sleep dont take me first, youll come around
cause I know I can always count on you
My old friend the blues
Lovers leave and friends will let you down
But youre the only sure thing that Ive found
No matter what I do Ill never lose
My old friend the blues
Just let me hide my weary heart in you
My old friend the blues

The Weight It Takes
The weight it takes,
For me to place my steps...
Will still be mine to make,
When and where I do it.
When and where I do it!
Chicago or on the shores of South Africa.
At the tip of its cape.
Or on the dunes of Cape Cod.
The weight it takes,
For me to place my steps...
Will still be mine to make,
When and where I do it.
When and where I do it!
In my own comfort zone.
Alone in my home.
Or if I decide to roam the streets,
Of Paris, France.
Whether I dance with abandonment...
Barefoot on floors,
Or receiving awards for recognition...
For something done,
My labors won!
The weight it takes,
For me to place my steps...
Will still be mine to make,
When and where I do it.
When and where I do it!
And when and where I choose to do it...
This will not be a decision of yours!
The weight it takes,
For me to place my steps...
Will still be mine to make,
When and where I do it.
When and where I do it!
And only God can see to it,
With blessings He has given!
And not when 'you' see fit,
That this is allowed.

Why Don't You Go First?
You are too curt.
Too blunt.
Too direct and outspoken.
And on top of that you are arrogant.
I can't stand you!
'Hey...
What can I say?
I awaken some days...
And discover I can not stand myself.'
You're kidding?
'Nope!
Just this afternoon,
When I decided to have lunch...
At the Foxwoods Casino,
Where everything is great.
I sat there alone feeling so blessed,
I kept myself away from several people...
Just to enjoy that alone.
I did not want to upset anyone's day.'
Are you being sarcastic?
'I have no clue.
What do you think?
Should both of us get away from me?
How about if I let you go first?
Yeah.
Why don't you go first?
I'll watch your back.
How about that? '
