The Fish
Dark the sea was: but I saw him,
One great head with goggle eyes,
Like a diabolic cherub
Flying in those fallen skies.
I have heard the hoarse deniers,
I have known the wordy wars;
I have seen a man, by shouting,
Seek to orphan all the stars.
I have seen a fool half-fashioned
Borrow from the heavens a tongue,
So to curse them more at leisure -
- And I trod him not as dung.
For I saw that finny goblin
Hidden in the abyss untrod;
And I knew there can be laughter
On the secret face of God.
Blow the trumpets, crown the sages,
Bring the age by reason fed!
(He that sitteth in the heavens,
'He shall laugh' - the prophet said.)

Helaman 14: 31
When the heavens cast their eyes on me,
they cried - I felt their tears on my face;
their tears, they drench me...
and I felt cold.
When the stars cast their eyes on me,
they fell - and I was left in darkness
with the ringing evening bells.
The moon, when she cast her eyes on me,
she died - and was buried in dark clouds;
I was left alone and homeless...
and thought I might as well die;
for the evening bells are ringing...
the heavens - they're still crying.
The stars are all but fallen.
But no, I'll never stay in darkness.
I cast away the dark clouds in my thoughts
and looked up in the heavens.
They still cry but their tears are sweet -
I smiled and felt the tender coldness
it brought in my weary feet.
The stars have fallen, the moon has died,
for the sun has risen and has brought its light.
Heavens gave way, the evening bells retired.
The darkness chose me but I have chosen light.
Death has crept its way and chose me
but I have chosen life.

Heavens In Here
Baby I dream between the blade and the tongue
Of the rose on your cheek the wounded and dumb
We stumble and fall we stumble and fall
Skin on skin but theres heaven in
Heavens in here
Heavens in her
Among the twilight and star
Like a rocket to mars
Heaven in here
The first and the last are telling it all
Telling you loud but selling it small
Im taking a swing at this shadow of mine
Crucifix hangs an my hearts in my mouth
But its here
Heavens in here
Heavens in her
Among the twilight and stars
Like a rocket to mars
Heavens in here
Feeling it wanting
Mm mm m
Heaven in
Heaven lies between your marbled thighs
The rustle of your falling gown
We stumble and fall like tragedy falls
We stumble and twirl theres heaven in here
We stumble and fall uncertain we fall
Theres flesh on flesh but theres heaven in
Heavens in here
Heavens in here
Heavens in here
Among the twilight and stars
Like a rocket to mars
Heavens in here
Youll dance to my tongue
Well dance on the sun
Were the twilight and stars
And theres heaven in here
Heaven

Jen’s poem
Jen’s poem
~
Her smile weakens my legs
Laughter brings out my own
The look deep in her eyes
Is like touching the heavens
A quiet little beauty of my own
The one I live to hold close
Whose joy I cherish daily
She is the girl I once dreamt of
The one who forgot my troubles
Now I am saying over a thousand
I love you and thank you’s
All greeted with a shy smile
Making me fall a little bit more
Unsteady on my feet
And when we laugh together
There is that look in her eye
That I’ll never forget or wish to
I may not reach the stars themselves
But I am walking in the heavens
In her eyes which I look into

Darkness no victor
The sun disappears
The day fades
Darkness spread its winds
To take the earth captive
Ha! He scorns at the day
Where is thy strength? He asks
The whole earth begins to groan
Their hope seemed to be lost
Taken in bondage by the dark
But there, up from the heavens
They hear so great a voice
A voice of rejoicing and shouting
As in the day of victory in the battle field
They lifted up their eyes and stared stunned
The heavens were filled
With so great a number of tiny lights

Feeble And Unworthy
Sometimes I glance beyond my dreams,
look upon the millions of distant stars
that blink at me from the dark heavens.
I then read the great philosophies
that line my filled bookshelves,
then suddenly I feel feeble and unworthy
whenever I lift my pen towards them.
I try to transcend my work
to cover most categories,
but always seem to be dragged back
to being the solitary of one.
Back to the humble beginnings
that swim around in my thoughts
haunting me again and again.
I strike out again and again
seeking new and uncharted directions
stumbling on and on to the end.
Another of my mile stones
that leaves me exhausted at the end
and glow no more than the previous,
leaving me looking at the greats
feeling feeble and unworthy.
One day I say to myself
my marker will enhance
the mantle crown I wish
and that will sit steadily on my head
and I will again look at the stars
blinking in the dark heavens
and this time smile back at them.

Letter Never Sent
Its been pretty simple so far, vacation in athens is calling me
And knock, knock, knock on wood, I thought Id left you behind
Heaven is yours, heaven is yours, heavens yours where I live
The thought of the catacombs left my soul at home
This letter never sent
And its so far, its so dark, Im so lost
Heavens yours, heavens yours, heavens yours where I live
(another story, another story for a while, someone show me)
When Im moving too fast, wheres my new address?
The water is evening now, the catacombs are filling in
If my soul was made of stone, no, not, not so dark, dark
And its so far, its so dark, Im so lost
And its so far, its so far, its so far
Heavens yours, heavens yours, heavens yours where I live
(another story, another story for a while, someone show me)
Heavens yours, heavens yours, heavens yours where I live
(another story, another story for a while, someone show me)

E. C. B.
Before the grass grew over me,
I knew one good man through and through,
And knew a soul and body joined
Are stronger than the heavens are blue.
A wisdom worthy of thy joy,
O great heart, read I as I ran;
Now, though men smite me on the face,
I cannot curse the face of man.
I loved the man I saw yestreen
Hanged with his babe's blood on his palms.
I loved the man I saw to-day
Who knocked not when he came with alms.
Hush! - for thy sake I even faced
The knowledge that is worse than hell;
And loved the man I saw but now
Hanging head downwards in the well.

God Is The Light
God is the Light
How great the wonders of the heavens
And the timeless beauty of the night
How great then how great the Creator?
And its stars like priceless jewels
Far beyond the reach of kings
Bow down for the shepherd guiding him home.
But how many eyes are closed
To the wonder of this night?
Like pearls, hidden, deep beneath a dark
Stream of desires.
But like dreams vanish with the call to prayer
And the dawn extinguishes night here too are signs.
God is the Light - God is the Light
How great the beauty of the Earth and the creatures
Who dwell on her.
How great then how great the Creator?
As it's mountains pierce the clouds
High about the lives of men
Weeping rivers for thousands of years.
But how many hearts are closed
To the wonders of this sight?
Like birds on a cage, asleep with closed wings
But as work stops with the call to prayer
And the birds recite here too are signs
God is the Light God is the Light
How great the works of man and the things he makes
How great then how great the Creator?
Though he strives to reach the heavens
He can barely survive
The wars of the world he lives in.
Yet, how many times he's tried,
Himself to immortalise?
Like his parents before him in the Garden of Eden
But like the sun sets with the call to prayer
And surrenders to the night here too are signs
God is the Light Everlasting
God is the Light Everlasting

The Great Man Who Ate Cow Dung All His Life (secretly)
everyday
he feeds himself
with cow dung
but this is done
discreetly
for who in this
normal world
would like
to satisfy
himself with
dung
who in this
society would
love a man
who eats and
smells like
cow dung?
of course, he
feared
that soon if
society knows
he shall be
another ostracized
ostrich
electrically fenced
and monitored
and segregated
at Ward 8
for social
rehabilitation
he didn't like dung
reason and logic
so tell him well
but he couldn't resist
the smell of dung
even if it is kilometers
away
there is simply this
obsession for
cow dung
and he begins
to salivate even
for the word
dung
and for so many nights
he prayed
that his mind-set be
changed
so that he can prefer
steak
medium rare
than watery cow
dung
life has its own
idiosyncrasies for
he prefers dung
than barbecue
despite his
genius for good
food
and so
not to deprive
himself of what he
really loves
in his whole life
he eats cow dung
stores them in his
refrigerator
and eats cow dung
regularly
savoring every
fiber and enjoying
that rotten
sticky smell of
rotten grass
and leaves or
hay
how he wishes
that the shrink can
teach him to hate
dung
but this never
happened
he never referred
the matter
somehow
for fear of information
leaks
for modesty aside
he is
a great man
in his field of
endeavor
no one knows this
this is his secret
and i have known this
only about a year & a half
after he died
when i found his
black diary hidden
under the
old creaky bed
because it
smells dung
itself
in his
luxurious house
beside
a river
you know him
he is one of the greatest men
in our history
a philosopher
writer
philanthropist
scient ist
artist
sculptor
a genius
who ate cow dung
all his life
well adored by history
a hero for all humanity
the Renaissance man
as they dub him to be
the man who ate
and secretly loved cow
dung all this life
do not bother
let us keep his greatness
history is always right
do not argue
great men
revered the cow
ate cow dung
and become
famous
throughout the life
of history
their names
written in the pages of books
like sticky
piece of dung
but shits
unknown

I Saw His Round Mouth's Crimson
I saw his round mouth's crimson deepen as it fell,
Like a Sun, in his last deep hour;
Watched the magnificent recession of farewell,
Clouding, half gleam, half glower,
And a last splendour burn the heavens of his cheek.
And in his eyes
The cold stars lighting, very old and bleak,
In different skies.

Risus Dei
Methinks in Him there dwells alway
A sea of laughter very deep,
Where the leviathans leap,
And little children play,
Their white feet twinkling on its crisped edge;
But in the outer bay
The strong man drives the wedge
Of polished limbs,
And swims.
Yet there is one will say:--
'It is but shallow, neither is it broad'--
And so he frowns; but is he nearer God?
One saith that God is in the note of bird,
And piping wind, and brook,
And all the joyful things that speak no word:
Then if from sunny nook
Or shade a fair child's laugh
Is heard,
Is not God half?
And if a strong man gird
His loins for laughter, stirred
By trick of ape or calf--
Is he no better than a cawing rook?
Nay 'tis a Godlike function; laugh thy fill!
Mirth comes to thee unsought;
Mirth sweeps before it like a flood the mill
Of languaged logic; thought
Hath not its source so high;
The will
Must let it by:
For though the heavens are still,
God sits upon His hill,
And sees the shadows fly;
And if He laughs at fools, why should He not?
'Yet hath a fool a laugh'--Yea, of a sort;
God careth for the fools;
The chemic tools
Of laughter He hath given them, and some toys
Of sense, as 'twere a small retort
Wherein they may collect the joys
Of natural giggling, as becomes their state:
The fool is not inhuman, making sport
For such as would not gladly be without
That old familiar noise:
Since, though he laugh not, he can cachinnate--
This also is of God, we may not doubt.
'Is there an empty laugh?' Best called a shell
From which a laugh has flown,
A mask, a well
That hath no water of its own,
Part echo of a groan,
Which, if it hide a cheat,
Is a base counterfeit;
But if one borrow
A cloak to wrap a sorrow
That it may pass unknown,
Then can it not be empty. God doth dwell
Behind the feigned gladness,
Inhabiting a sacred core of sadness.
'Yet is there not an evil laugh?' Content--
What follows?
When Satan fills the hollows
Of his bolt-riven heart
With spasms of unrest,
And calls it laughter; if it give relief
To his great grief,
Grudge not the dreadful jest.
But if the laugh be aimed
At any good thing that it be ashamed,
And blush thereafter,
Then it is evil, and it is not laughter.
There are who laugh, but know not why:
Whether the force
Of simple health and vigour seek a course
Extravagant, as when a wave runs high,
And tips with crest of foam the incontinent curve,
Or if it be reserve
Of power collected for a goal, which had,
Behold! the man is fresh. So when strung nerve,
Stout heart, pent breath, have brought you to the source
Of a great river, on the topmost stie
Of cliff, then have you bad
All heaven to laugh with you; yet somewhere nigh
A shepherd lad
Has wondering looked, and deemed that you were mad.

The Last Hero
The wind blew out from Bergen from the dawning to the day,
There was a wreck of trees and fall of towers a score of miles away,
And drifted like a livid leaf I go before its tide,
Spewed out of house and stable, beggared of flag and bride.
The heavens are bowed about my head, shouting like seraph wars,
With rains that might put out the sun and clean the sky of stars,
Rains like the fall of ruined seas from secret worlds above,
The roaring of the rains of God none but the lonely love.
Feast in my hall, O foemen, and eat and drink and drain,
You never loved the sun in heaven as I have loved the rain.
The chance of battle changes -- so may all battle be;
I stole my lady bride from them, they stole her back from me.
I rent her from her red-roofed hall, I rode and saw arise,
More lovely than the living flowers the hatred in her eyes.
She never loved me, never bent, never was less divine;
The sunset never loved me, the wind was never mine.
Was it all nothing that she stood imperial in duresse?
Silence itself made softer with the sweeping of her dress.
O you who drain the cup of life, O you who wear the crown,
You never loved a woman's smile as I have loved her frown.
The wind blew out from Bergen to the dawning of the day,
They ride and run with fifty spears to break and bar my way,
I shall not die alone, alone, but kin to all the powers,
As merry as the ancient sun and fighting like the flowers.
How white their steel, how bright their eyes! I love each laughing knave,
Cry high and bid him welcome to the banquet of the brave.
Yea, I will bless them as they bend and love them where they lie,
When on their skulls the sword I swing falls shattering from the sky.
The hour when death is like a light and blood is like a rose,-
You never loved your friends, my friends, as I shall love my foes.
Know you what earth shall lose to-night, what rich uncounted loans,
What heavy gold of tales untold you bury with my bones?
My loves in deep dim meadows, my ships that rode at ease,
Ruffling the purple plumage of strange and secret seas.
To see this fair earth as it is to me alone was given,
The blow that breaks my brow to-night shall break the dome of heaven.
The skies I saw, the trees I saw after no eyes shall see,
To-night I die the death of God; the stars shall die with me;
One sound shall sunder all the spears and break the trumpet's breath:
You never laughed in all your life as I shall laugh in death.

I Tried To Look At The Sky Tonight
I TRIED TO LOOK AT THE SKY TONIGHT
I tried to look at the sky tonight
As if the stars were lights of other bright worlds
Magical in their beauty
Human in their hope of habitation-
I tried to look at the sky tonight
As if I did not know of
Dark matter and dark energy
Vast galaxies and extreme temperatures
Distances beyond imagining –
I tried to look at the sky tonight
As if I were innocent of all scientific understanding
And could not –
We will never be innocent again
And our longing in looking at the sky
Never be what it once was-
The stars are not the stars anymore
And the heavens not the heavens – either.

You Move Heaven
Ive been here before
On the street of hearts
Tryin to find my way
To be close to you
Takin careful steps
Makin some mistakes
Now its judgement day
But all along I knew
Could this one be magic
Tell me what the rumours say
Now the whispers started
Theres no turning back
You move heaven for me
You bring heaven down to earth
When I see the love thats shining in your eyes
You move heaven for me
You bring heaven down to earth
And Im thankful theres a place in heavens sky
I can hear you breathing
Loving heart and healing hands
On a solo flight
Sent from heavens door
Hear you call my name
When love came first
To be where you are
Like a shooting star
Tryin to chase the flame
From heaven down to earth
Runnin in slow motion
Tryin to find a place to hide
I guess theres no escapin
Time to face the facts
You move heaven for me
You bring heaven down to earth
When I see the love thats shining in your eyes
You move heaven for me
You bring heaven down to earth
Now Im flyin so high.
Ive heard that heaven must be missing an angel
Dont care what the storys worth
All I care is that youre here beside me
My angel - here on earth.
Solo
I can hear you breathing
Loving heart and healing hands
You move heaven for me
You bring heaven down to earth
When I see the love thats shining in your eyes
You move heaven for me
You bring heaven down to earth
And Im thankful theres aplace in heavens sky
Repeat til fade

Head Over Heels
Sitting here with you
You ask me why my tongue is tied
Ive try to make some sense of all these things I feel inside
Ive been searching for the perfect words to say
Theyve been said a thousand times but they mean more today
Cuz Im head over heels for you
And all of the things you do
The heavens and earth have moved
And Im falling head over heels for you
So baby there it is
Ive let it go and now you know
Its funny how feelings start so small and starts to grow
I had every line rehearsed Id say to you today
Then you looked into my eyes and they just slipped away
Cuz Im head over heels for you
And all of the things you do
The heavens and earth have moved
And Im falling head over heels for you
Head over heels
Heart over mind
Youve got me body and soul (youve got me baby)
Ive never dreamed in a million years Id lose complete control
Im head over heels for you
And all of the things you do
The heavens and earth have moved
And Im falling head over heels for you
(Head over heels for you)
Im falling head over heels for you
Oh Im falling, Im falling
