Keeping it real ain't about carrying a gun or smoking blunts. It's about being true to yourself and those around you.

Smokin The Herb Again
Yo yo yo, yo, yo yo what

Were smoking, were smoking the herb again
Were smoking, were smoking, were smoking the herb again
Were smoking, were smoking, were smoking the herb again
Were smoking, were smoking, were smoking the herb again
Damn, I really wish I could find my sack man
Must have got eaten by pac-man
If I had it I could smoke again
Smoke with my friends to the very end
But now Im trying to comprehend
Whens the next time that Ill smoke again
I need to know, please tell when will we smoke again
I got a buddy, his name is ted
Hes got a problem going through his head
He doesnt know how to puff puff give
But I like so Ill teach him and Ill let him live
Everyday we teach him right
When he divides, we have to fight
But at the end of the trying day
We says its ok and we puff away
Just the other night, I saw you, you were smokin not sharing and being tight
But thats ok, you are my friend, well smoking until the very end
The lessons that we put out, we order you to try it out
Its nice to smoke, yea thats what were all about
Smoking
Were smoking, were smoking the herb again
Were smoking, were smoking, were smoking the herb again
Were smoking, were smoking, were smoking the herb again
Were smoking, were smoking, were smoking the herb again
Hey, ho, hey ho, hey, ho, hey, ho, hey, ho, hey, ho
I smoke, you smoke, we smoke, they smoke, smoking everywhere
I smoke, you smoke, we smoke, they smoke, smoking all together
Smoking
Were smoking, were smoking the herb again
Were smoking, were smoking, were smoking the herb again
Were smoking, were smoking, were smoking the herb again
Were smoking, were smoking, were smoking the herb again

Im Carrying
By dawns first light Ill come back to your room again
With my carnation hidden by the packages
Im carrying, something
Im carrying something for you
Ah, long time no see baby sure has been a while
And if my reappearance lacks a sense of style
Im carrying, something
Im carrying something for you
Im carrying.
Im carrying, cant help it.
Im carrying.
Im carrying something for you.

I saw young men keeping courage in the grim night (Villanelle)
I saw young men keeping courage in the grim night
burning, aflame before the end of day
bravely carrying on before the dying of light
raging in war busy with a almost endless fight
with no chance to ever again dance and play.
I saw young men keeping courage in the grim night
trying their utmost to do what’s right
challenging a outnumbering foe they
bravely carrying on before the dying of light
looking at enemy warplanes in their flight,
seeing bombs dropping down on their way.
I saw young men keeping courage in the grim night
seeing with blinded eyes far past sight
another world, a glassy sea and its bay
bravely carrying on before the dying of light
looking at a heaven endlessly bright,
cursed but before finality, on their knees to pray
and I saw young men keeping courage in the grim night
bravely carrying on before the dying of light.

The Gun
The man has a gun
He knows how to use it
Nine millimeter browning
Lets see what he can do
Hell point at your mouth
Say that hell blow your brains out
Dont you mess with me
Carrying a gun
Carrying a gun
Carrying a gun
Dont you mess with me
Carrying a gun
Carrying a gun
Carrying a gun
Dont mess with me
Ooohhh, carrying a gun
Get over there
Move slowly
Ill put a hole in your face
If you even breathe a word
Tell the lady to lie down
I want, ah, you to be sure to see this
I wouldnt want you to miss a second
Watch your wife
Carrying a gun
Shooting with a gun
Dirty animal
Carrying a gun
Carrying a gun
Watch you face
Carrying a gun
Carrying a gun
Carrying a gun
The animal dies with fear in his eyes
With a gun
Dont touch him, dont touch him
Stay away from him, hes got a gun

Some Bridges
Every day I walk out in this torn up world
And I fight to survive
Im laughing when I make it to the saturday
And Im alive
Carrying your smile with me
Carrying your smile with me
Everywhere I look I see this world slippin down
That low road, day by day
And I just go on working for the things I need
And making my own way
Carrying your smile with me, oh yea
Carrying your smile with me
Take a walk on the troubled side of this old town
Take a walk on the broken streets and the buildings falling down
Look at all these kids with nothing but trouble in their eyes
Trouble in their future, trouble in their lives
Some bridges are falling down
Some bridges are still around
Take a walk on the shaded uptown avenue
Some people are doing well no matter how they do
And I know theres more to life than what you own
But I see so many good things, things Ive never known
Some bridges are falling down
Some bridges are still around
Every night I listen to the sound of the street
Lying in my bed
I love to see the dreams that are dancing there
In the light above your head
And sometimes I get so weary
And when hope is caving in
You fill me with your love and your laughter, baby
Until I get back up again
Carrying your smile with me
(take a walk on the streets of this divided town)
Carrying your smile with me
(take a walk on the smoking edge of the battleground)
Carrying your smile with me
(take a look at the situation, the poverty and the desperation)
(take the time for the realization)
Everyday Im carrying your smile with me
(take a walk in the daylight)
Carrying your smile with me
(some bridges are falling down)
Carrying your smile with me
(some bridges are still around)

No Escape From Your Memories
Your memories linger in twilight,
keeping you alive, keeping you in sight,
Carrying me to a landscape bare and dim
where the fossils of dreams gleam...
Your memories with time offer no escape!

Carrying Your Love With Me
Baby all I got is this beat up leather bag
And everything I own dont fill up half
But dont you worry bout the way I pack
All I care about is gettin back, real soon
A goodbye kiss is all I need from you
Cause Im carrying your love with me
West virginia down to tennessee
Ill be movin with the good lords speed
Carrying your love with me
Its my strength for holding on
Every minute that I have to be gone
Ill have everything Ill ever need
Im carrying your love with me
On a lonely highway stuck out in the rain
Darlin all I have to do, is speak your name
The clouds roll back and the waters part
The sun starts shinin in my heart for you
Youre right there in everything I do...cause
Cause Im carrying your love with me
West virginia down to tennessee
Ill be movin with the good lords speed
Carrying your love with me
Its my strength for holding on
Every minute that I have to be gone
Ill have everything Ill ever need
Im carrying your love with me
Its my strength for holding on
Every minute that I have to be gone
Ill have everything Ill ever need
Im carrying your love with me
Im carrying your love with me
Im carrying your love with me
West virginia down to tennessee
Ill be movin with the good lords speed
Carrying your love with me

It Is The 'ing' Of Things Which Are Real
ongoing, loving, living,
existing, thinking,
agonizing, forgiving,
accepting,
drinking, thirsting,
eating, filling, filing,
reading, writing, singing,
philosophizing, mesmerizing,
sitting, setting, making, carrying,
bleeding, healing, bullying,
touching, merrymaking, seeding, planting, growing
these are the 'ings'
for they are real, and true and beautiful
keep going, keeping, storing, giving, releasing, freeing, seething, soothing, ....ing, , , , , ing....inging...there is no stopping of these 'ings'
moving living singing flying floating diving dying.

Denzel Washington invoked confidence. When you have confidence, you can do anything. And that's what happened. I learned about being honest and keeping it true, keeping it true in my performance.

The Third Letter To Mac
dear mac,
this is what I have to tell you now, I retained for my own everlasting keeping
this poem
of death
death
death
death
do not read it with your lips
it may cast a spell on you
don’t say creep
it is true it is real
who can argue about it
who can argue without it
if it is giving you shivers
then you are not real
you are an agnostic who
doubts everything even yourself
bye bye bye mac
may we have peace.

Could It?
It could be true! That nothing’s real.
That all the dreams that we pursue
are just illusions which appeal?
It could be true!
That all the things I thought I knew
are delusions and are not real.
You have another point of view.
Can you believe that what you feel?
is not just an illusion too.
Or does it still seem real to you
It could be true!

If There Is A God 'Twould Seem To Me
If there is a God 'twould seem to me that God would not have a creed
Or would not favour any religious belief such divisive influences a supreme being would not need
Amongst his or her Earthly followers the real God would rule for everyone
A real God would act as a real God should when all is said and done.
Amongst his flock for even an atheist the real God would find a place
And a real God would not differentiate between Nationality and Race
Those who say the God they believe in is the one true God they do have it all wrong
If there is a God surely that God to everyone does belong.
A real God is for her and him as well as you and me
A real God is for everyone though you do not agree
Only in the God of your religion the true God you do see
Suppose as some are known to say we all look at things differently.
If there is a God it does seem to me that God is of human kind
And every good person he or she the real God lives in their mind
And whether you live as an atheist or to a God you do pray
As long as you are a good person with me that is okay.

My Old Man
My old man
Hes a singer in the park
Hes a walker in the rain
Hes a dancer in the dark
We dont need no piece of paper
From the city hall
Keeping us tied and true
My old man
Keeping away my blues
Hes my sunshine in the morning
Hes my fireworks at the end of the day
Hes the warmest chord I ever heard
Play that warm chord, play and stay baby
We dont need no piece of paper
From the city hall
Keeping us tied and true
My old man
Keeping away my blues
But when hes gone
Me and them lonesome blues collide
The beds too big
The frying pans too wide
Then he comes home
And he takes me in his loving arms
And he tells me all his troubles
And he tells me all my charms
We dont need no piece of paper
From the city hall
Keeping us tied and true
No, my old man
Keeping away my blues
But when hes gone
Me and them lonesome blues collide
The beds too big
The frying pans too wide
My old man
Hes a singer in the park
Hes a walker in the rain
Hes a dancer in the dark
We dont need no piece of paper
From the city hall
Keeping us tied and true
No, my old man
Keeping away my lonesome blues

For The Keeping
You can have my heart
It's yours for the keeping
You broke my heart once before
But I'll give it to you again
So you can fix and patch it up
You can have my heart
It's your for the keeping
I was always in love with you
And I think you knew that
You are mine and I am yours
You can have my heart
It's yours for the keeping
It's brusied and scared
It is very fragile
So please don't break it
You can have my heart
It's your for the keeping
It's not much of anything
But you can have it
Cause it's all I have to give
You can have my heart
It's yours for the keeping
Just be careful not to hurt it
Cause it has gone through hell
And it needs to heal
You can have my heart
It's yours for the keeping
Just be careful not to lose it
Cause it has lost you once
And it almost killed it
You can have my heart
It's yours for the keeping
If you don't want it
Then please be gentle and put it down softly
And please don't break it
You can have my heart
It's yours for the keeping

(Life Poem) A Way To Fix The Heart
Being a kid is hard, but being an adult is harder.
Probably not as true this day and age.
But when I was growing up it stood true to form.
And the lesson learned has been engraved into my very soul.
They are a parts of me I can never deny.
With a remembrance comes a tear in my eye.
And it burns but it also needs to be their.
To show I still can feel.
To show things are still real.
An emotion that fits as if it was special tailored just for me.
But I know its not and instead of keeping it inside it should be taught.
Passed on and never forgot.
A way to fix a heart.

Real Love
[verse 1]
We are lovers true and through and though
We made it through the storm
I really want you to realize
I really want to put you on
I've been searchin' for someone
To satisfy my every need
Won't you be my inspiration
Be the real love that I need
Real love
I'm searchin' for a real love
Someone to set my heart free
Real love
I'm searchin' for a real love
[verse 2]
Oooh, when I met you I just knew
That you would take my heart and run
Until you told me how you felt for me
You said I'm not the one
So I slowly came to see
All of the things that you were made of
And now I hope my dreams and inspirations
Lead me to want some real love
[chorus]
I got to have a real love
Loves so true and oh baby
I thought your love was true
I thought you were the answer to
The questions in my mind
But it seems that I was wrong
If I stay strong maybe
I'll find my real love
[verse 3]
So I try my best and pray to God
He'll send me someone real
To caress me and to guide me t'wards
A love my heart can feel
Now I know I can be faithful
I can be your all in all
I'll give you good lovin' through the summertime,
Winter, spring, and fall
[chorus x2]
You see I'm searching for a real love
And I don't know where to go
Been around the world and high and low
And still I'll never know
How it feels to have a real love
Cause it seems it's not around
Gotta end it in this way because it
Seems he can't be found
[chorus x2]

Keeping My Distance
(jimmy davis/tommy burroughs/don smith)
Im keeping my calandar open
Even if it takes me years
til you figure out what your plan is
You figure out all of your fears
I dont wanna know anything about her
Or what you feel like you have to defend
But Ive seen your situation
And the world she keeps you in
Im keeping my distance
Im keeping my distance
And Ill wait until my time is here
Im keeping my distance
Im keeping my distance
And Ill wait until you make it clear
If you dont want to rush it baby
Well then by all means dont
But Im gonna wait for the day when
When you see that its me you want
I can see, I can tell that you need me
You know that I need you too
So why on earth cant you ever let her go
Will you ever try anything new
Im keeping my distance
Im keeping my distance
And Ill wait until my time is here
Im keeping my distance
Im keeping my distance
And Ill wait until you make it clear
Where will you find the strength
I cant hold you against your will
You keep me at arms length
Im reaching out to hold you still, yeah, yeah, yeah
I can see that you need me
You know that I need you too
So why on earth cant you ever let her go
Will you ever try anything new
Im keeping my distance
Im keeping my distance
And Ill wait until my time is here
Im keeping my distance
Im keeping my distance
