The Death of Lincoln

Oh, slow to smite and swift to spare,
Gentle and merciful and just!
Who, in the fear of God, didst bear
The sword of power, a nation's trust!

In sorrow by thy bier we stand,
Amid the awe that hushes all,
And speak the anguish of a land
That shook with horror at thy fall.

Thy task is done; the bond of free;
We bear thee to an honored grave,
Whose proudest monument shall be
The broken fetters of the slave.

Pure was thy life; its bloody close
Hath placed thee with the sons of light,
Among the noble host of those
Who perished in the cause of Right.

Merciful Maker of Waters and Whiles

Merciful Maker of waters and whiles,
Spare please my son from the fierce crocodiles,
Then he too will know you.
I'll rear him to fear you.
He cannot survive in the waters of the Nile.
This trial is too great! The boy is my child!
O Merciful Maker of waters and whiles,
Spare please my son from the fierce crocodiles.

Pharoah's command is most certainly vile:
'Kill each boy child born in all of Israel! '
I hear mothers weeping.
The monsters are feasting.
A child's meat is sweet to those beasts in the Nile.
Revile this intrusion lest I fall beguiled,
O Merciful Maker of waters and whiles.
Spare please my son from the fierce crocodiles!

Alas, and I fear never more will I smile.
They've taken my baby boy down to the Nile.
My son is not screaming.
It sounds like he's singing;
Though soon he will bathe as among pedophiles.
Denial will not spare him nor savoring bile.
O Merciful Maker of waters and whiles,
Spare please my son from the fierce crocodiles.

Merciful Maker of waters and whiles,
Who spared not my son from the fierce crocodiles,
But spared instead Moses,
And he will deliver
All children of Israel from out of the Nile.
In this trial I'll praise you and smile in this while,
O Merciful Maker of waters and whiles,
Who spared not my son from the fierce crocodiles.

Deliverer Moses resembles your child,
O Merciful Maker of waters and whiles;
Though Moses was rescued
But your son not spared-
Devoured his flesh as with beasts of the Nile.
You meanwhile were pleased as you stood by and smiled,
O Merciful Maker of waters and whiles,
Who spared not your own son to make me your child.

The Crown of Thorns

“And unto Adam He said . . . . cursed is the ground for thy sake. Thorns . .
. . shall it bring forth.”
“And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on His head.”

In bitterest sorrow did the ground bring forth
Its fatal seed. Thine eyes beheld the birth—
Beheld the travail of accursèd earth;
E'en then, O Lord! in greater love than wrath!

Thou sawest the sin that none could gather out—
The vineyard cover'd with the thorn and briar;
Thou sawest the fair land ready for the fire—
And still Thy pity compass'd it about.

Thou, O most merciful! didst spare the brand;
Thou didst redeem the Paradise of God;
The thorns were rooted from the stubborn sod,
In pain and toil, by Thine own blessèd hand.

How was our path to heaven o'ergrown with sin—
Bramble, and thistle, and the poisonous weed!
Though hearts should break, and patient feet should bleed,
And strive and struggle, none could walk therein.

And Thou didst call us when we went astray—
Didst make our high road straight for evermore;
And, for our guidance, passèd on before,
Leaving Thy shining footprints in the way.

Still do the wild thorns hedge us round about;
Still grow the thistles from the ancient stock;
Still trails the bramble on the blasted rock—
But we can dig, and Thou wilt pull them out.

Ay, we can work—oh, help us in the strife!
Labour is sweet, for Thou dost share it now.
And we shall eat, in sweat of furrow'd brow,
Not earthly food, but Thine own Bread of Life.

And there are thorns of suffering left behind—
Sorrow and loss—that weigh our courage down;
But, ah! we know Thy sacramental crown
Was made of sin and sorrow, intertwined.

Give us of Thy sweet patience, Lord, we pray.
We would not spurn them with rebellious kicks,
Nor fret and strive, for Thou canst feel the pricks;
We too would wear them as a crown for aye.

We would put on Thy likeness—we, the least
And most unworthy. Ay, each piercing thorn,
In Thy name patiently and meekly worn,
Shall bear a blossom for the bridal feast.

Look down, O Brother with the yearning eyes!
Behold us kneeling at Thy bitter cross!
Grant us a share in all Thine earthly loss,
That we may share Thy gain in Paradise.

O weary Head! we see Thee drooping now
Beneath that diadem of mortal pain:
We see Thee sprinkled with the scarlet stain;—
Drop down the chrism on our polluted brow!

O sacred Head!—pale, beautiful, benign—
On our heads be Thy precious blood, we cry!
Lo, the destroying angel, passing by,
Shall spare to smite us—reverencing the sign.

Strength of a nation

Strength of a nation
~
The strength of a nation
Driven by honour and pride
Will stand as one to the fight
Against the needless hate
Those that seek to destroy
Through envy and fear
Of what the nation stands for
They will not kill the spirit
Only strengthen its resolve
A nation open to all beliefs
Teaches equality to all
And through its own faults
Will learn and grow stronger
The free shall stand as one
The strength of the nation
Seeing through the adversity
Does not yield nor quit
But stands defiant
We stand as one

Slow Burn

Here shall we live in this terrible town
Where the price for our minds
Shall squeeze them tight like a fist
And the walls shall have eyes
And the doors shall have ears
But well dance in their dark
And theyll play with our lives
Like a slow burn
Leading us on and on and on
Like a slow burn
Turning us round and round and round hark who are we
So small in times such as these
Slow burn
Slow burn
Oh, these are the days
These are the strangest of all
These are the nights
These are the darkest to fall
But who knows?
Echoes in tenement halls
Who knows?
Though the years spare them all
Like a slow burn
Leading us on and on and on
Like a slow burn
Twirling us round and round
And upside down
Theres fear overhead
Theres fear overground
Slow burn
Slow burn
Like a slow burn
Leading us on and on and on
Like a slow burn
Turning us round and round and round and here are we
At the center of it all
Slow burn
Slow burn
Slow burn

The Power Of Thy Sword

Lord of battle I pray on bended knee conquest by the rising sun
I'll wait for thy command with flame and blood at hand
glory and a broken sword.

I'm the master of the world I have no fear of man or beast
Born inside the soul of the world
Riding hard breaking bone with steel and stone
Eternal might I was born to wield.

Let us drink to the battles we've lived and we've fought
Celebrate the pain and havoc we have wrought
Great heroes charge into the fight
From the north to the south in the black of night

The clash of honor calls to stand when others fall
Gods of war feel the power of my sword

Drink to the battles we've lived and we've fought
Celebrate the pain and havoc we have wrought
Great heroes charge into the fight
From the north to the south in the black of night

Fierce is my blade fierce is my hate born to die in battle
I laugh at my fate
Now pay in blood when your blood has been spilled
You're never forgiven death is fulfilled !

The clash of honor calls to stand when others fall
Gods of war feel the power of my sword

The clash of honor calls
I will stand when others fall
Open magic doors
The will know the power of my sword

There is blood in my hands there is blood in my eyes
With blood in my voice I scream as you die
Thirsting for vengeance and mounds of the slain
Shaking the forest onto the plain

Fierce is my blade fierce is my hate born to die in battle
I laugh at my fate
Now pay in blood when your blood has been spilled
You're never forgiven death is fulfilled !

The clash of honor calls to stand when others fall
Gods of war feel the power of my sword

Know the power of my sword
Know the power of my sword
Know the power of my sword
Know the power of my sword
They will know the power of my sword

What to fear

I need not fear a hundred battles to come
Because many thousands more I've fought
I do not fear the sword that awaits me there
Stuck with more, walking with them like a bear
I need not fear the fear of the unknown
Because its own fear left him scared below
I do, however, fear killers of dreams
While I'm alive they kill everyday from within.

Treason

Spare not the culprit
When the act is antinational
When the act is treason.

The soil of ones country
The safety and security
Of the Mother motherland
And mothertongue
Is in highest order
And when all these are
In danger and
In danger spare not anybody.
The nation is sacred
And more than individual life.
Life of a person is
Not permanent
The nation is permanent.

Spare not the culprit
Who put the nation
In the open market
Like anything.

The Horseman of Conquest

He rides the fields triumphant, in armor plated gold
His horse a great white stallion, it's rider ever bold
He is the Horseman Conquest, for power does he lust
He cares not for honor, goodness, or even being just
He cares rides to war for power, to make the world his own
He dreams only of riches, a jewel encrusted throne
His sword is swift and mighty, though corrupt his soul may be
He commands a mighty army, who obey every decree
He dreams only for power, rides to war for gold
He rules from an ivory tower, where he keeps fortunes untold
The mighty King of Conquest, the Horsemen filled with greed
In golden plated armor, he rides his mighty steed
He fights for gold and plunder, he wields a mighty sword
He rides to war for power, backed by his mighty hoard
Every king of every nation, must bow before his throne
He will never stop, until the world is all his own

Misery, the shadow of the light

Sorrow, fear and disease you cannot avoid.
To lose your mother or child is sorrow.
To face the people or the future is fear.
To decay to pests and accident is disease.

Sorrow: Learn to live with.
Fear: Learn to cope with.
Disease: Learn to bear with.
The end is certain, anyhow.

After Lunch

After eating lunch, I feel so sleepy.
Waking later, I sip two bowls of tea,

then notice shadows aslant, the sun
already low in the southwest again.

Joyful people resent fleeting days.
Sad ones can't bear the slow yers.

It's those with no joy and no sorrow—
they trust whatever this life brings.

Sorrow And My Nation

Nation is drowned in sorrow,
School, college, hospitals and office;
Cinema halls, all are lost in sorrow.
Wrinkles on the bed narrate the tale of sorrow,
Of newly wed.
Even the flowers of gajra are sad,
Spreading the stench of sorrow.

Sorrow here and sorrow there,
Sorrow every where,
Even the sorrow is dancing on
The dancing floor
And hugging sadness and sorrow.

Nation has decomposed due to sorrow,
By her own creations,
As the unending greed for quotas,
From the obnoxious citizens,
But all the cruel palms,
Giving, delivering only sorrow.

Sorrow! My bosom companion,
Filling the nook and corners,
In all one sick breathing,
I have seen and met only you.
In the calm nights, cool mornings;
In thunder, in rain and tempests;
Only has spread the shoots of dark,
No way seems to get rid off.

Nation is crying and crying,
Leaders erect crumbling sand houses,
Ground was covered with broken glasses,
Only, the dark and dark visible;
My nation, a failed land;
Of secular and social justice game.

Where people always beg with begging bowl,
Play cheating, looting, killing and raping;
Where nation is completely filled,
With the sigh boards of,
Sorrow and sorrow.

Are We Growing Wise

Of National security we so often hear
Just one more example of power held through fear
We may be growing older but are we growing wise
We trust the power hungry and swallow their lies?

We only believe what we want to believe
And for to cling to power us they gladly deceive
For their love of power they create us and they
Why must we believe what these liars to us say?

About people we don't know from a bar of soap
When we vote people like them to power for peace can we dare to hope?
'Tis time we voted out the war men and give those for peace a go
'Tis from concilitary words not war words peace can only grow.

For to cling to their power only fear they create
And they tell us who to trust and they tell us who to hate
And for our choice of leaders on Election Day
In wars caused by hatred we all have to pay.

In The House Of The Lord!

Here I dwell,
In the house of the lord,
With his only son,
And righteous sword.

Here in his power and grace
His dire wish is that mankind is one race,
You have heard from the house of the lord
His only son, and righteous sword.

Here is the power of the son of man,
Saying, 'We must take a stand! '
The example being from the house of the lord,

The Moving Of The Shades

The black revolving depths have moved and stirred
with news. their Lord has cried. 'Send these, and these.'
Swift feet awake. Shapes speed. The dreadful word
resounds along the tunnels of the seas.
Sly Falsehood comes, with Sin and Flattery,
and long toothed Fear runs shrieking by the wall.
Face-hidden Sorrow follows Cruelty,
and peering Jealousy grown over-tall
Slobbering Lust is there, asmear with slime,
and Vice's ushers from the Uttermost;
Comes painted Pleasure, somewhat fat with time;
and Murder takes his place amid the host.
thronewardds they stand and gazzee, the Foull Voice screams.
'Invoke this God! Go hand in hand with dreams?'

House Of Cards

How can you stand there and deny it
after all we have been through
How can you stand there and deny it
and make a fool out of you
Collapsing like houses of cards
and landing on splinters and glass
Wish I could fake it like you do
wish i could fake it just like you
How can you stand there and deny it
How can you stand there and deny it
Trust me now
Collapsing like houses of cards
and landing on splinters and glass
They crush your heart
but spare your feet
like judging people
you've yet to meet
well time is running fast
upon your reflection
trust me now
How can you stand there
Stand and deny it

To the Ladies' Free Produce Society

Your gathering day! and I am not,
As erst, amid you set;
But even from this distant spot,
My thoughts are with you yet,
As freshly as in hours forgot,
When I was with you met.

His blessing on your high career!
Go, press unwearied on,
From month to month, from year to year,
Till when your task is done,
The franchised negro's grateful tear

Oh faint you not, ye gathered band!
Although your way be long,
And they who ranged against you stand,
Are numberless and strong;
While you but bear a feeble hand,
Unused to cope with wrong.

Upon your injured brother look,
And nerve ye with the sight!
Could you the good, the gentle, brook
To wear your days in light,
Regardless that by sorrow struck,
He pines in rayless night?

Oh surely 't is a blessed fate,
A lot like that ye bear—
To bid the crush'd and desolate,
Not yield them to despair,
For even amidst their low estate,
Some hearts their sufferings share.

And never your high task forget,
Till they are chainless—free!
Alas! that ye should be so met,
And I not with you be;
Yet sometimes when you thus are set,
One heart may turn to me.
Proclaims your victory won.

Psalm 119 part 10

Pleading the promises.

ver. 38,49

Behold thy waiting servant, Lord,
Devoted to thy fear;
Remember and confirm thy word,
For all my hopes are there.

ver. 41,58,107

Hast thou not writ salvation down,
And promised quick'ning grace?
Doth not my heart address thy throne?
And yet thy love delays.

ver. 123,42

Mine eyes for thy salvation fail;
O bear thy servant up!
Nor let the scoffing lips prevail
Who dare reproach my hope.

Didst thou not raise my faith, O Lord?
Then let thy truth appear:
Saints shall rejoice in my reward,
And trust as well as fear.

G.K. Chesterton

A Hymn

O God of earth and altar,
Bow down and hear our cry,
Our earthly rulers falter,
Our people drift and die;
The walls of gold entomb us,
The swords of scorn divide,
Take not thy thunder from us,
But take away our pride.

From all that terror teaches,
From lies of tongue and pen,
From all the easy speeches
That comfort cruel men,
From sale and profanation
Of honour and the sword,
From sleep and from damnation,
Deliver us, good Lord.

Tie in a living tether
The prince and priest and thrall,
Bind all our lives together,
Smite us and save us all;
In ire and exultation
Aflame with faith, and free,
Lift up a living nation,
A single sword to thee.
