It was just this interesting, my first, the first time you hear your child in any way criticise you. It's the worst review of your life and it's really relieving to find out that they don't know what they're saying.
I look at modern life and I see people not taking responsibility for their lives. The temptation to blame, to find external causes to one's own issues is something that is particularly modern. I know that personally I find that sense of responsibility interesting.

There are so many different types of interesting.
Maybe you were trying to use a euphemism.
Most people don't want to hear a dysphemism.
You might of thought it was irresistible.

Because We Are Part Of These Mysterious States
to make you more interesting
(not just to myself but more of yourself)
i tell you something that you want to know
and you listen
and you like it and you begin to smile and
feel great about how i speak about you
because you are great and somehow you fail to see it
