Jargon allows us to camouflage intellectual poverty with verbal extravagance.

Camouflage
(stewart / savigar / omartian)
She came to the party
In a leather number wrapped in chains
Investigation found
She was very fond of dropping names
So I signed her book
And drove her to her home
And she looked so hot
Started to come on strong
Then she said so candidly
As I was gettin down on my knees
i dont really mean to tease
But Im shy, shy, shy, shy, shy
Camouflage
Thats nothin but camouflage
He was totally handsome
With a winning personality
Natural born leader
With connections in society
But late at night
Alone with just his wealth
He would stare in the mirror
And never see himself
He had a cadillac thirty foot long
He had a hit with every song
Sounded like somethings wrong
Why, why, why, why, why
Camouflage
It aint nothin but camouflage
Camouflage
Aint nothing but, nothin but
Nothin but camouflage
They were so well suited
With an ambience you cant ignore
But nobody realized
What went on behind closed doors
He had many affairs
But never felt fulfilled
She would hide her sadness
In alcohol and pills
She bottled everything up inside
He was too busy with his best friends wife
They couldnt look each other in the eyes
Lies, lies, lies, lies, lies
Camouflage
Just camouflage
Everywhere you go its called camouflage
Some people hide behind camouflage
C-a-m-o-u-f-l-a-g-e
I signed her book, drove her to her home
But I didnt know what was goin on
He had a cadillac thirty foot long
Had hits with every song
He had many affairs but never felt fulfilled
She was hidin herself in some little purple pills
Why, why, why, why
Shy, shy, shy, shy
Lies, lies, lies, lies
Lies, lies, lies, lies
Camouflage, camouflage
Talkin bout camouflage
Camouflage, bring it down
Sometimes I worry about you darlin
You wear too much mascara
Too much eyeliner
Too much rouge, and it worries me
Camouflage, camouflage
Camouflage, talkin bout camouflage

My mother's illness fitted into this protest against the treatment of the sick who could not pay, the inefficiency of commercialism, the waste, the extravagance, and the poverty.

Sonnet: The Magic of Poverty
A birth in poverty is luck supreme!
A death in poverty, a great blessing;
A life of poverty is rare a dream;
Achievements great, stark poverty can bring.
’Tis poverty that goads nations do feats;
’Tis poverty that stimulates scientists;
In everything, poverty, wealth just beats;
The greatest men were in poverty’s lists.
And poverty lessens our worries much;
Account to God will be much easier;
Poverty gives the saint a divine touch;
In poverty, poets can fly higher!
Poverty helps to shun worldly pleasures;
A soul in poverty, Heaven allures.

Camouflage
Camouflage is all the rage.
Ladies in their fight with age-
Soldiers in their fight with foes-
Demagogues who mask and pose
In the guise of statesmen-girls
Black of eyes with golden curls-
Politicians, votes in mind,
Smiling, affable and kind,
All use camouflage to-day.
As you go upon your way,
Walk with caution, move with care;
Camouflage is everywhere!

Poverty is not a Calling
Poverty is not a calling,
Even if the priests think it is.
Poverty is a distraction,
The intellectual must think it so.
Think of the books you could have bought
Had you had money,
Or the food you may have eaten
In a posh hotel.
You soak garri in water
And wipe your mouth,
Then put on a fine shirt
So no one will know.
You are a lie - you know you want more;
Chicken dipped in sauce
And maybe some wine too,
But you cannot afford it.
You are ill
And so run to the chemist;
No doctor for you,
A card is three hundred naira.
Pain killers, multivitamins and blood capsules,
You will still have change;
Why then bother with the syringe
Or the bespectacled grave face?
You see?
Poverty denies you the good life;
You cannot do what
Your seeming betters do.
You discover it is a sad state,
Poverty is not a calling;
We both know that,
Even if we pretend not to.

Two Points on the Line of a Commercial Passage
Before the internet when television was a trinity
It was ok to hunt in work clothes
There was no prescribed uniform
Today the powers tell us
Camouflage is the order of the day
Camouflage the thing which we must buy and have.

The Shadow Inside My Shadow
poverty is not my cousin,
is not my lover,
is not my preacher,
poverty is not my brother.
poverty is not my prayer,
or the song that i sing
is not my answer
poverty is not my dream.
poverty is not my teacher,
not the hand that i hold.
poverty is not my anger,
not my spirit, not my soul.
ah! but this poverty is real
it races thru my mind
crashes into my heart,
& leaves me deaf and blind.
poverty is my companion.
the aching cold inside my hollow.
the blow behind my eyes,
poverty is the shadow
inside my shadow.

Justice comes into your life and then youll know
Youll know
Justice comes justice let it come
I get the justice coming for you and i
I get the joy joy when it comes my joy I get the joy
When justice comes to everyone
Why does a willow weep when all I sees a tree go
All in camouflage everyone I know
We walk along like sequel youre a cameo
Youve got your joy
So find the people of your own
Ill take in anyone whos taking off their camouflage
Go on check it
Ill take in anyone whos messing up the sabotage
To yourself dont destroy
Ill take in anyone whos taking off their camouflage
Gimmie the ball gimmie it all big orange ball
Roll up over fields
I shame the devil cause I throw it down so hard
I rock the big line I rock the back yard
Be a dream in color even on a winters night
Thinking george seurat afternoon bathed in light
Get your joy no matter who says its right
Their covers blown
Find the story of your own
Check it
Ill take in anyone whos taking off their camouflage
Go on check it
Ill take in anyone whos messing up the sabotage
To yourself dont destroy
Ill take in anyone whos taking off their camouflage
Ok ok ok
In the geometry of prism of my of my eye will flow
I ask the questions and wonder why
Only to roll in a big arrange ball that floats in a summer sky
Secret words never to be printed
Take it up from the underground proactive and soul
Play a vital roll thats what you are
Check it
Ill take in anyone whos taking off their camouflage
Go on check it
Ill take in anyone whos messing up the sabotage
To yourself dont destroy
Ill take in anyone whos taking off their camouflage

Poverty In The 21st Century
It’s the 21st century
The media displays it day and night,
Poverty.
Poverty across the globe lies
Poverty cries out from the belly of little boys
Little girls, parents too
Desperately searching for food,
Shelter, clothing, for love,
Companion, for attention
Those with plenty, refuse
To amend, a world haunted by
Poverty.
Is poverty affecting the rich?
Are their poverty the same
As the poor in financial constrains?
For they, too, poverty of love
I see poverty in the learned
I see poverty in those whose
Selfish acts are destroying society.
I see poverty in all level of humanity
The world is still an imperfect place
Yet life is still beautiful, the wind
Blows, we see it not, give thanks
For what you possess, now go,
Help if you can along the way,
Help to eradicate poverty
In your surrounding, widen
Your boundary across your
Country, to nations of the world.
Help to fight poverty, now!

War Of Words (Acrostic)
Wrestling with his conscience
Abstaining from verbal exchange
Regretting his wrods
Offended by obscenities
Forgetting his ticket
What is happening now?
Obnoxious little men
Rallying in no mans land
Dire consequences
Spasmodic verbal abuse.

We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty.

The Abuser
it does not matter if you're male or female
in the mind of a abuser
they will always prevail.
when you allow the abuse from the start
in you life, it becomes a part.
whether it's verbal or physical, it matters not
you let it start, and it won't stop.
the verbal can be more damaging than the physical
because it becomes daily.
like a sculptor chipping away at its mold
until it becomes the way that they want it to be.
and if you don't stop it
you will never be free.
they do it because of their own inadequacy.
which is something that their mind won't see.
how much abuse should you take
before it becomes much to late?
the verbal abuser will always put you to the ground
and expect you to not make a sound.
they will tell you that you was put here to serve.
and to make a move, you have no nerve.
that you must obey their every command
and that you are the scum of the land.
if you have no - or low self esteem
it is something which will be seen.
and when an abuser has you in their sight
no matter what you do, it won't be right.
STOP the abuse, before it's too late.
for this can not be your destined fate.
the verbal abuse will always start first
then from there, it will get worse.
YOU must walk away, so that they can see
a victim you will not be.
(abuse is like a broken tool, it could damage whatever is good)

Fight Night....A Lesson In Boxing Someone Around
Well studied in religion, philosophy and attempted suicide
He has finally after years decided all three are useless to him
He'd rather kill or be killed than die by his own hand
Or that of a major pharmaceuticals company
with their hands in the till of the government in an attempt
to collect the yet unpaid benefits of his retirement program
He is very intellectual for someone who is prolific
as they are generally less verbose when in the company of so many fools....
I hesitate to get to know him better as he does appear to be slightly insane
And I myself so prone to spouting off colloquialisms and jargon
Would only make him feel more like slicing his proverbial wrist....
Should I choose to spar with him....

Poverty-I
Lot of hunger and having no food is poverty,
Not having spare cloth to take bath is poverty,
Needing a shelter but not having one is poverty,
Child's sick but can not buy treatment, is poverty,
Fainting child dreaming a mouthful of rice is poverty
Searching warmth in cold flesh in winter nights, is poverty,
Sitting with umbrella on wetting bed in showering night, is poverty,
Thoughtful mother, two mouthful of rice and three children, is poverty,
An ill, deserted mother selling her child wishing it will survive, is poverty.
A defeated and desponded mother poisoning and killing her child is poverty,

Heart of a Beggar
Beggarliness contrives hearts to ponder on poverty-
A barrenness of attitude is wavering on the sick and property.
Births are to be controlled according to blindness,
Puberty is a stage once called unkindness.
To extravagance my religion strays, and joins
Like multiple births, innocent as coins.
Why do you beg so crookedly in the face of jeopardy?
Where are your deeds in the ocean so wordy?
I cast doubt on the philosophy so narrow and dull;
We actually exhibit changes of blood when external.

Poverty-II
Satiated, desiring but not having enough food to offer some, is also poverty,
Sheltered, wishing, but failing to accommodate a guest, is also poverty,
Treated, prescribed, but unable to effort better treatment is also poverty,
Clothed, requiring but can't afford sufficient to meet the need is also poverty,
Educating, meritorious, but failing to provide better education is also poverty,
Social, invited but avoiding a ceremony to avoid buying a gift is also poverty,
Celebration, aspiring but fearing expenses not celebrating is also poverty,
Friend in distress, desiring but incompetent to help a friend is also poverty,
oppressed, rights denied, deciding but failing to buy justice is also poverty,
Time elapsed but not repaying debts for not having money is also poverty.
