I Cant Sleep
(jack hues)
From my window I can see the skylight
And the clouds gathering out to sea
A light rain falls
And the street lights make the road shine
And I cant sleep
People talking about the war
I cant sleep
People talking about the war
I cant sleep
Over there a clock shows half past four
And the light breaks out to sea
And I just think of those things your said to me
And I said to you and you said to me

Summons
Keep me from going to sleep too soon
Or if I go to sleep too soon
Come wake me up. Come any hour
Of night. Come whistling up the road.
Stomp on the porch. Bang on the door.
Make me get out of bed and come
And let you in and light a light.
Tell me the northern lights are on
And make me look. Or tell me clouds
Are doing something to the moon
They never did before, and show me.
See that I see. Talk to me till
I'm half as wide awake as you
And start to dress wondering why
I ever went to bed at all.
Tell me the walking is superb.
Not only tell me but persuade me.
You know I'm not too hard persuaded.

Sleep Comes Down
it's raining in my head
but no tears come down
and i'm dreaming of you
until sleep comes around
sleep comes down sleep comes down
sleep comes down sleep comes down
the orchestra's playing
it's so very loud
and i'm biting my nails
until sleep comes around
sleep comes down sleep comes down
sleep comes down sleep comes down
the clouds are all running
but no tears come down
and i'm thinking of you
until sleep comes around
sleep comes down sleep comes down
sleep comes down sleep comes down

Insomnia
Im running in quicksand
Somethings haunting me
The guilty past Ive buried
My mind wont let me sleep
Ill do anything for peace - I keep waking up
A solemn oath I make
Cross my heart please let me sleep - I keep waking up
How much more do I take
My head is talking to me
I dont know what it needs
But the loudest voice
Is the one I heed
Insomnia, my swollen bloodshot eyes
Insomnia, awake till morning light
Insomnia, stirring deep inside
Insomnia, somebody turn out the lights
I cant sleep - insomnia
Im twisting and turning - I keep waking up
The madness I must tame
My candle is burning - I keep waking up
Both ends again today
The whole house is creaking
I know theyre out there
The things kept from sight
I beg to the shadows
I cant sleep
Insomnia, footsteps on the walk
Insomnia, I hear someone knock
Insomnia, I wish it was a dream
Insomnia, can you hear me scream

Dedicated to ppl who dont sleep
Sleep, sleep, sleep
It’s magnificent and nice,
With dreams beyond wonder,
Sleep! sleep! sleep!
Sleep, sleep, sleep
Eyes tightly closed,
A little smile on you r cheeks,
Feeling the ambiance
Of the pure and precious sleep,
Sleep! sleep! sleep!
Sleep, sleep, sleep
Forgetting insane things of the mixed world outside
Relax my dear, feel the gentle breeze,
Do not worry about tomorrow, do not weep,
Wake up fresh in the morning with a recuperate mind,
Fresh and blessed with a wonderful sleep,
SLEEP, SLEEP, SLEEP!

Talking In Your Sleep
Oh, baby
Youve been talking in your sleep
Ive been lying here listening to
A secret you had meant to keep
Inside of you
Were you dreaming of his face
I cant begin to take it in
I even know the time and place
Like the scene in a film that removes all doubt
Theres a shot of a man who wakes with a shout
As he steps from a dream he figures it out
Thats me today
Like the end of a book where the plot unfolds
But the lines on the page leave a tale untold
Of a spy who never came in from the cold
Thats me today, yeah
Talking in your sleep
Talking in your sleep
The force of love
Is sometimes hard to resist
But I never thought Id see the day
Never thought wed come to this
So angry now
And Im sure youd feel the same
I heard it said you took his bed
Though you barely knew his name
Like the boy leaving home with a hole in his heart
Tries to fill up the void with a brand new start
Not a day goes by when hes not torn apart
Thats me today
Like the way that it looks in a seaside town
When the shutters go up and the flags come down
And the beaches are bare, no-one around
Thats me today, yeah
Talking in your sleep
Talking in your sleep . . .

Rain, Rain
Rain, rain has spilt from above the skies,
Little has been in the head of sleep
From the night and the day has also been in sleep.
Rain, it spelt a wrong session of work and shine
From the sun, from a star that inspired us with wind and rain.
Rain! I say to clouds and sun, do rain
And still I wept from too much sleep,
The slept one is me, and I have been in reign of my day
And night.

Our street light
there we would sit
under the street light
free from the dark
just you and me
having a laugh
talking bout the good times
talking bout the bad
however messed up our lives were
watever pain we were in
the street light would heal us and set us free again
it was our getaway
it was our thing
the street light brought us together
the street light brought us the end
i still remember that street light like that special glow you had my friend
the street light brought us fun
the street light brought us love
the street light brought us warmth as we lay and look at the stars above
i was happy under the street light
as i knew you were too
comforting each other was all we used to do
the street light may be faded
the street light may be dull
but lets just remember the street light kept us going strong!

Sleeper
Sleep that half dead,
sleep the body not the head.
Sleep that bad said,
Poor owns that bed,
Dreams are found on that herd.
Sleep while awake,
Sleep that dead not closed eye fake.
Sleep that weak,
Tommorow u gona take.
Eat that sleep and enjoy its steak.
Sleep still stands,
None to overtake.
Sleep that height dare for cake.
Sleep that stress and have the bless,
Sleep to confess as she do to embrance,
Sleep for paid cash as he do to love false.
Sleep that sleep as no one sleep ever deep.
Sleep that better as no other sleeper.
Wear that sweater as did Brother Peter,
Sleep that firm to dream that greater,
Sleep not slopy arrise all the weaker.

Work, Sleep, Work, Sleep, Work
Work, sleep, work, sleep,
Work, sleep, work, sleep,
Work, sleep, work, sleep,
Work:
Work, sleep, work, sleep,
Work, sleep, work, sleep,
Work, sleep, work, sleep,
Work.
Oh free me please with gentle ease
From work, sleep, work, sleep, work!
This odium, pounding tedium
Of my work, sleep, work, sleep, work.
Just whisk me off to lands afar
From work, sleep, work, sleep, work -
That grinding train of rhythmic pain
Called ‘Work, sleep, work, sleep, work.’
Poor neural circuits fizzle and pop
In work, sleep, work, sleep, work,
In trying to make some sense of all this
Work, sleep, work, sleep, work.
But Hark! I see a golden gleam -
A saving spirit of hope:
‘You’re fired! ’ He screams. What news to bear,
This wondrous hangman’s rope!
So now I’m free, released from all this
Work, sleep, work, sleep, work -
Eternal peace and rest for me, no
Work, sleep, work, sleep, work.

Every Morning's Mourning.
Watch you sleep
Dream and roll over
avoid the monsters
and the light
Watch you sleep
Watch you sleep
when the noise
of fifteen
floors above you
crashes in
and wraps you deeper
in your sheets
Watch you sleep
Watch you sleep
through every squeak
and smash and ping
as I serenade you
with my awake
and my breakfast
Watch you sleep
Watch you sleep
with a half-turned
smile on your face
an exposed and naked leg
your hair escaping you
like spilling starlight
Watch you sleep
Watch you sleep
when I kiss
the tiniest sample
of skin on your cheek
and know you wake
when I'm gone
and am gone
until again you sleep
When you wake
Watch you wake
Watch you sleep

Sleep-Walking
Usually sleep-walkers
head straight for the fridge.
And what about sleep-talkers?
shouting from a bridge.
I heard sleep-walkers also float,
no sense in sleep-talking about a boat.
Sleep walkers don't really know their, there
if they come up to you, they can give you a scare.
Just leave them alone,
let them do what they got to do.
Put a lock on the Ice-box,
Sleep-Walkers, you can out-fox

Sleep
Some people think that they live for something material
Some people think that they live for someone special
The are all wrong
In fact all they live for is some sleep
So sleep
Peoples work all day long to get some sleep
Peoples spend their life looking for the opportunity to sleep
So sleep
Sleep is a gift from god which is withdrawn from sinners
So sleep
But there will be one day when sleep will be granted forever
And the fight will be over

Last Night I Was Talking To Myself
last night i was talking to myself
asking and making answers
like the way i make a knot and
then untie them from a cemented
post at the port
so that the wooden boat
may finally be let loose
and be free to sail
to its chosen destination
the sea was so wide
like all seas that you have seen
but the night was so dark
like no other
last night i was formulating solutions
to a very common problem
like how to cure a cold
with just a glass of water
like how to appease the coldness
of a room with nothing but
a piece of a woolen blanket
and curling feet and
hiding hands in my pocket
so i can have the exact warmth
so i may finally have my much
needed sleep and
dream about the peace
between the clouds
and the stars
last night i could not sleep
and you are beside me
last night i opened the window
of our room while you
were there snoring
last night i was silently
talking about the absence of
stars the loss of the moon
and then the rain fell
heavily on the roof of this house
and then i closed the windows
and then i listened to every sound
and then i noticed a faint light coming
from a leak of these walls
i know
another morning has finally
come
it is broken they say.

Let The Night Sleep
Let the night sleep
Sleep for ever deep
With the night I sleep
Beyond the world to peep
Universe will sleep
Plants and trees
Birds and bees
Stars and moon
To sleep very soon!
Fruits and flowers
Joy with showers
Will sleep with me and the night
Not to keep the life very tight!
No dawn of the day
Right upto the dooms day!
Sleep permanent
In the world impermanent
I'll sleep without light
My agonies will sleep
My worries will sleep
My pains will sleep
My sins will sleep!
While in sleep
I am pure
I am peace
I am noble!
While my body is asleep
Awake my soul I keep
Sleep akin to death
Death akin to sleep in mirth?
Let the night sleep
Sleep for ever deep
With night I sleep
Sleep to eternity
Soul to merge in Divinity!

Tickity Tick Tock
can't sleep.
don't sleep.
won't sleep.
shan't sleep.
never sleep.
never sleep.
never sleep.
tick tock
tick tock
tickity tick
tock
tock
tock
the little hand drills a hole into my tired mind.
can't
tick
don't
tock
won't
tick
shan't
tock
never
tick
nev er
tock
never sleep
the clock keeps ticking
as my mind struggles to keep up
too many ticks.
too many tocks.
the clock's too loud
it echos through the silent night
too many thoughts
all at once
i need them on paper
scribble
tick
scribble
tock
that fucking clock
it never fucking stops
i cant fucking sleep.
a dog barks
tick
a car screeches
tock
a horse neighs...what?
i can't be that tired
i can't be hallucinating
i
can't
sleep.
don't sleep.
won't sleep.
shan't sleep.
never sleep.
i need a digital clock
Turning Off The Lights
you say, you love light, its brightness
that reveals what had long been denied to you
by darkness,
you take it, and raise it and put it at the higher place
for that should be how it must be
everything is now obvious and you begin to see
the truth, and you say, at first, that this is beautiful,
and good, and you preach about light, its brightness,
you want all those that love you to have them too
time changes, seasons come and go, tastes not just sweetness
but bitterness, this is also truth, but this is not good,
this is ugly, and all the scenes pass before your eyes,
your parents, and brothers, they are carried by this rage
of the river of time, there was thunder and lightning at the background,
there is too much lighting, and you begin to dislike
what light has given you, brightness has become too harsh
for such a short life,
there is panic and fear now, you want to run but all the doors are closed,
and the windows refuse to open,
the clouds make the rain, and rain does not stop,
the sun still shines, no promises are broken, all for your love of light,
its brightness, now getting too sharp and too jagged, they hurt
you sit alone, you let the rain flood over you, you dislike water
there is too much of it, just like light, flooding over your senses,
they are no longer good, they are so ugly,
but what can you do? you wished for it and now it is given for free.
forgetting has taken your beloved away. Such a cruel goddess.
Now you are alone. You remember the night of sound sleep.
You remember when you said, once when we were small,
You want all the lights turned off, light hurts, and you cannot sleep.
and so, i turned off all the lights now. I shall not tell you anything.
You need sleep and dreams shall be there to comfort you.

A Sleep of Dreams
Travelled road ~ rough and worn
I've walked with ease on many morn
Down your path of known delights
I've trodden through on many nights
To sleep a dreamless sleep
My footsteps echo not within
Within the paths where I have been
Oh, how I crave my soul's respite
To dream of life within this night
To sleep a sleep of dreams
Oh, travelled road ~ you're all I've known
But fever deep inside has grown
To walk the walk that others might
And realize a dream tonight
To sleep a sleep of dreams
This trodden path is worn and long
Each day does bring a seasoned song
That's sung till light has turned to night
And dulls the life with no delight
To sleep a dreamless sleep
I see a field of emerald green
No foot has passed ~ nor ever been
Down unseen path toward dawning light
I'll stay until the sweetest night
To sleep my sleep of dreams....

Try For Sleep
Its four oclock in the morning, and theres a new full moon
Shining down through the trees
But dont leave the room now, leave it in doubt
Pretend not to know what Im talking about
I try, all night long
I try, I want you to come along
I feel it when you touch me, Im already wet
But how are you supposed to know what you get
Wake me when its over, but dont turn on the light
Call me by name, thats alright I try, all night long,
Ooh, I try to carry on
And, how can you go through, how can you go through
So many changes
Oh, how can you go through, how can you go through
So many changes
Its a family affair; its a family affair
Its a family affair, its a family affair, its a family affair
Try for sleep, why dont you try for sleep
Why dont you try for sleep
Im pushin the river, ready to roll
Oh, I can feel it in my soul
Give me the high light and leave out the rest
You know what they told me
They said the west is best
I try, all night long, I try to get along with
Will try for sleep, ooh try for sleep
Wont you, oh wont you come along, come along
Try for sleep, try for sleep
Ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, yaaa
I want you to try for sleep
I know you will try, ooh baby
Ooh baby, baby, baby, baby, baby
(fade to end)
