Benjamin

Take me away
I know I could use a rest
I wanna clear up this mess
I need a few days with my good sense
I need a few good days
Benjamin, no, oh...
Benjamin, no, oh...
Benjamin, no...
Where did you go?
No, no...
When you were falling from my tree
I was not scared
I thought youd meet me back up there
It never dawned on me you were home free
It never dawned on me, no...
Benjamin, no, oh...
Benjamin, no, oh...
Benjamin, no...
Where did you go?
No, no, no...
Benjamin, no, oh...
Benjamin, no, oh...
Benjamin, no...
Where did you go?
No, no...
You said that I could tie you down, no...
You said that I could tie you down, no...
You said that I could tie you down, no...
You said that I could tie you down, no...
Take me away
I know I could use the rest

Church Going

Show me a health
That can context death,
There will be no escape
From age.
We shall all die some day,
And meet judgement day.
That is why we follow Christ,
And sleep while He rise.
In our sleep;
We dine in His house,
As we live in his heart.
Sundays!
Church going steals our day.
We are the Christians
Who worship in Jerusalem.
I was talking with a boy the other day
And to me he says:
Brother Benjamin
Why do we worship him?
And I said: We worship Him
Because there is non above Him
He sits on a throne up above,
And rule over us down below.
I worship him my dear boy;
Because I am Benjamin
And I wouldn't be
If not for Him.
They all go to church on sundays;
Because that is what the bible says,
But this is the only page they obey.

Benjamin

The Beloved of God.

God loved this man with His love sweet and gentle.
Benjamin showed courage monumental.
Grief struck at his stout heart.
He was the picture integrity, in whole not part.

God's love for Benjamin was so immense it would not hide.
So Jehovah created from Benjamin, an important tribe.
There are some members stated here below.
Ehud, and Saul, to name some you know.

On her death bed Rachel named him 'son of sorrow'.
For Rachel knew she would not delight in his tomorrow.
But Jacob his father would not have his son named so grim,
And determined his son would be called Benjamin.

When Israel conquered Canaan, the diadem,
Benjamin was given the jewel called Jerusalem.
This city grand would belong to the smallest tribe of all.
And with God's blessing the diminutive would stand tall.

Remember the story of Joseph the Egyptian slave?
How by God's grace he was both wise and brave.
And the love he showed his younger brother.
Well that little brother was Benjamin, none other.

So here we have a story of tears, joy, and mystery grand.
One that may have been blown away in the desert sand.
But God would allow it to be so.
Because it is about your name sake, you know.

I tease Jami [ Reprise ]

IMAGINE!
This morning,
My girl broke up with me
Because I teased Jami,
She said I'm crazy,
Stupid, and mentally sick
To tease Jami
While she's with me,
Now she's leaving me.
Is this funny?
But its hurting.
She wouldn't even listen.
And now I'm lonely,
Who will comfort me?
Jami doesn't want me,
She doesn't even trust me.
They all think I'm crazy.
And now I'm rhyming
Out on nothing,
Isn't this stupid?
Who will help me beg Becky,
She's as lovely as Naomi.
Tell her to come back to Benjamin.
Jami is far away in America,
How I wished I was a Jamaican,
Maybe she would be my lover,
If I was a Raster,
But I am nothing.
Just a stupid baldy.
And they are all leaving me.
Good God, who wouldn't lose sanity?
O Jami, can't you trust Benjamin?
In your love he's sinking,
O I wish I was jamaican
They don't trust Nigerians
They think we are all fraudsters.
But not all lawyers are liars,
There are good people in Africa.

Benjamin Bandicoot

If you walk in the bush at night,
In the wonderful silence deep,
By the flickering lantern light
When the birds are all asleep
You may catch a sight of old Skinny-go-root,
Otherwise Benjamin Bandicoot.

With a snout that can delve and dig,
With claws that are strong as steel,
He roots like a pigmy pig
To get his evening meal,
For creeping creatures and worms and roots
Are highly relished by bandicoots.

Under the grass and the fern
He fashions his beaten track
With many a twist and turn
That wanders and doubles back,
And dogs that think they are most astute
Are baffled by Benjamin Bandicoot.

In the depth of the darkest night,
Without a star in the sky,
He'll come to look at a light,
And scientists wonder why:
If the bush is burning it's time to scoot
Is the notion of Benjamin Bandicoot.

Poems

My poems of love
I dedicate to Africa,
And my love in America.

I love you Naomi.
Do you love me too?

I love Poetry,
And I love Photography,
But I love you more.

Yesterday we were
Two birds in love,
Today, you dont even trust me
But tomorrow you might
Be marrying me.

Naomi, would you listen to the
Song of the Muses
Cupid's arrow is coming.
A pierce in your heart,
And you will see
Benjamin is sinking.

Her Lips Like Sugar

Sandra;
Her lips are like sugar
Kissed her once upon
a time in summer,
So sweet, just like
unfermented butter.
O' Sandra!
I think our love is
getting better,
She said:
Benjamin, can
you please press
it harder?
I did;
And i begin to
drowse even
deeper.
But now it seems
the dream is over.
Now i think
the fantasy is fading.
And so is my
love to me.
And my kisses
are getting sour
by every tick
of the hour.
But yet I still
love her.
I shall be waiting
for another
summer,
to kiss her
Once more
like a sugar.

Man Have Killed His God

Tho' I did not walk
With Ajax d'greater
Nor Ajax d'Lesser,
And I know also
I did not feature
In the Iliad of Homer.
But if today you call me
Benjamin the greater
My name you would've
made brighter
'Because tomorrow you
might never
Find anther Benjamin better.
.
This poem I had written
In a cold weather,
And my girl,
She would make me feel better,
But to Church she had gone
With her grandfather.
.
Gone are days, religion
Was near to God.
Today, hell had taken
Over the Church
And pastors now rule
The billboards.
.
When Lucifer
Was cast to earth
He made his Hell
With a legion of
Demons by his side.
If there were to be no Christ,
Right by our side,
Who else would bring us light?
.
Leaders today
Mind what you say,
Tomorrow there
Might be no state,
Just Lucifer, Hell,
And your fate.
These are the things
You cannot escape.
.
Lost are days, there
Was faith in religion,
In heart and actions,
Man have killed his God.
.
Where is the love from
Which our world was made?
Yet we die, and lie in state.
.
Oh mighty Lord! God
Of the Abrahamic Religion,
Today your world is ruled by hate,
Once again we plead,
Bring Christ to our aid.

A Perfect Place to Cry

There’s a myriad
Of poems to be written
About the entrancing mystery
Of a lovely girl’s lonely eyes,
The delicate sweet sadness
They softly reflect
In a streetlight’s sympathetic glare
Off a busted sidewalk’s
Rainy teardropp puddle.

I’m the harmless and meaningless poet
Of golden bracelets and vanished dreams,
The melancholy chronicler of feminine wrists
He can no longer kiss.

Certain milk-white shoulders
Just within reach
Look like home
And the perfect place to cry
Like the Patriarch Joseph
When he fell into the arms of Benjamin and wept
After revealing to Benjamin
He was his long lost older brother.

Like Yesterday

It's three years now since you left
But I still think of you like yesterday
My love of past days
They still want me like yesterday;
But in my heart today
It is you I see in my dreams,
With you I want to
Spend the rest of my days.

Whatever Happened To Benjamin?

Whatever happened to Benjamin
when he got bored with young Elaine?
He learned that it’s more fun to sin,
because sin tends to dull the pain,
and more thrills come from stolen kisses
than ones made by a marriage licit.
That’s why he left Elaine, and Mrs.
Robinson each night would visit.

Inspired by a performance of “The Graduate, ” which Linda and I first saw at the Curzon Cinema in London in 1968 but never really appreciated, despite its amazing soundtrack, until we saw it again about forty years later. Linda’s comment to this poem wsa “like plastic, ” which made me realize that the movie has a inclusion. At the beginning Mr. Robinson advises Benjamin to think about plastic, and he ends up marrying a piece of it.
