Bright White Flame

Come with me
To the bright white flame
That you knew by name
And you will again
Take my hand
Were getting out of here
No more time for tears
For the wasted years
No more crumble in the night
No more tears on an empty pillow
Voices out of sight cryin hard - runnin scared
No more tears in the gloom
No more gurus that I just cant follow
Older than a heart beat
Older than the sun
If I die before I go this is the way
Older than a heartbeat
Older than the sun
And hands
How she loved those hands
Now she could not stand
To be near that man
So she turned
To the bright white flame
That she knew by name
Now thered be no pain
I am the river that goes on and one
On into the sea
It carries you away

Cryin Through The Night

Yes I am cryin
I got the blues and I dont know why
Yes I am cryin
I got the blues and Im so dissatisfied
cause Ive been cryin through the night
Tears on my pillow
And I have been cryin through the night
Weeping like a weeping pillow
From cryin through the night
Hear me cryin through the night
I am lonely, downhearted and sad
cause Ive lost the best woman that I ever had
To a fiend of mine
Just cant figure out how it could be
That somebody like him could take her away from me
And its on my mind
Nearly all the time
Yes I am cryin
I got the blues and I dont know why
Yes I am cryin
I got the blues and Im so dissatisfied
cause Ive been cryin through the night
Tears on my pillow
And I have been cryin through the night
Weeping like a weeping pillow
From cryin through the night
Hear me cryin through the night
Now I know just how best friends can be
cause he made sure you knew your best was with me
And its on my mind
Heres a lesson much greater than wealth
Keep your business to you, yourself and no one else
And your smiling eyes
Wont be cryin like mine
Yes I am cryin
I got the blues and I dont know why
Yes I am cryin
I got the blues and Im so dissatisfied
cause Ive been cryin through the night
Tears on my pillow
And I have been cryin through the night
Weeping like a weeping pillow
From cryin through the night
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Im weeping like a weeping pillow
From cryin through the night
Oh, oh, yeah
Hear me cryin, cryin, Im cryin, cryin
Im cryin baby, cryin baby, yeah
Even a fool can tell
That so many tears sho enough done fell
And pretty soon before you know
Ill have enough tears to fill a water well
Hear me cryin through the night
Oh yeah, cryin through the night
And its on my mind
Nearly all the time
Yes I am cryin
I got the blues and I dont know why
Yes I am cryin
I got the blues and Im so dissatisfied
cause Ive been cryin through the night

And I have been cryin through the night
Weeping like a weeping pillow
From cryin through the night
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Im weeping like a weeping pillow
Oh, oh, cryin tears, cryin tears
Through the night

First Love

I was fifteen, she was eighteen
The prettiest thing I'd ever seen in my life
I loved her at first sight
I found her in Marietta, a town north of Atlanta
I brought her home to see my folks
They loved her too
We were together for a long time
Thought it would be for all time
But things change and rearrange
She had to go
She left me cryin' in '79
An airline pilot, in Carolina
I was a wreck, can't drive a check
It broke my heart
My first love was an older woman
There's been many since
But there'll never be another
Built in 1955, snowshoe white, overdrive
I never should've sold her, I'll always love her
She was mine
Years went by, teardrops dried
I got her back, I was surprised
In '93, a gift to me on Christmas Eve
We were both older, so I restored her
Could've sold her, for a lot more
But I will never she's mine forever
Until I go
My first love was an older woman
There's been many since
But there'll never be another
Built in 1955, snowshoe white, overdrive
I never should've sold her, I'll always love her
She was mine
I'll never sell her she's mine forever
I love her so

I’m an Older Man Than You

WHEN you’ve managed with the tailor for a rig-out of a sort
And you find the coat or trousers are an inch or so too short,
Do not fret and swear and worry, make the tailor see you through—
I have been through many new suits, I’m an older man than you.

When your girl is interfering with your appetite and work,
With your sleep and time and reason till the jealous demons lurk;
When your girl is playing with you, leave her for a week or two:
If in vain, then quit for ever!—I’m an older man than you.

When your wife deceives or leaves you for a “blackguard”, “brute”, and “sot”,
And when not a soul believes you when you say that you were not;
Do not rave or brood and weaken, and the years will prove you true,
Let your own self be the beacon!—I’m an older man than you.

Do not take a silly mistress in your vanity accursed,
And a second wife (or husband) but reminds you of the first;
Banish mutual friends, and pity (kill or cure relations, too),
Shun false “reconciliation”—I’m an older man than you.

Be the cause however worthy, and your case however strong,
Be your wrong however cruel, drink will put you in the wrong.
Drink will neutralize and murder all the good that time can do
(Though our birthdays come together, I’m an older man than you).

But for ever and for ever, over seas and through the lands,
Go the hand laid on the shoulder and the silent grip of hands
With a world of human feeling—men who know and men who knew:
Clear your soul of pessimism—I’m an older man than you.

Older And Older Into More Darkness And Loneliness

OLDER AND OLDER INTO MORE DARKNESS AND LONELINESS

Older and older into more darkness and loneliness,
The friends are not here.

Life has so much grief and pain
Will we ever see them again?
Could we have been kinder?

Less without them, we long and go on.

Getting Older

it's nine o'clock
i'm getting tired
i'm sick of all my records
and the clothes i bought today
am i cracking up
or just getting older?

staying in
i can't be bothered
making conversation
with the friends that i don't know
am i cracking up
or just getting older?

and i bet that this is how life
turns out when you're finally grown
and you know if this my life
sit around all day on my own

i'm halfway up to the bottom
of another bottle
of my next best favourite friend
am i cracking up
or just getting older?
you're not cracking up
you're just getting older
we're not cracking up
we're just getting older

There Will Be No Words So Accurate Perhaps...

my wish is to simply tell you
what i was, am
and can possibly be,
i do not wish that you extend your hand to me and take me to your place
i am here
and that is the only fact that i am
i can manage myself
just like everyone else
i do not know about helping hands
i have mine somehow
my wish is simple enough
to find the words to give you the picture
of what we are
who we were, where can we be
and what shall we be,
the words have not been well enough
they are shorter and inaccurate for
the size of our dreams
i still wish to find the words
and i am getting older
and older

sooner shall i realize perhaps that
there are no such words,

that what we are
are but dreams and aspirations
and that there are
and there will be no words
exact for all these

when we die, they will bury us, and then they will give us
the perfect sigh

and if you take a closer look, they speak through the
flowers and the stones
their tears and their hands
and then
finally on the marks of their footsteps
away from us....

OLDER WOMEN...by Talile Ali

NOW THAT IM OLDER
ALL I HAVE TO SAY
MY VIEW OF WOMEN'S MORPHED
IN SUCH BEAUTIFUL WAYS

OLDER CHICKS ARE LOOKING HOTTER
DOUBLE THE PLEASURE AT HALF THE SPEED

OH YES
OLDER WOMEN ARE BEST
OH YES
NORTH SOUTH EAST AND WEST

I AINT ASHAMED HERE
BABY, KNOW MY DESIGNS
I WANT ME AN OLDER WOMAN
EACH AND EVERY TIME

DOESN'T MATTER HOW OLD
SO LONG AS SHE'S FIT AND HOT
AND GOT A RACK THAT WON'T QUIT
AND BOUNCES A WHOLE LOT

MAYBE LAST BUT NOT LEAST
WHEN SHE DOES ME SHE'S A BEAST
OLDER WOMEN ARE FUN
WITH THEM YOU HAVE A FEAST

DEEP IN THEIR EYE'S
A UNIVERSE REALIZED
KNOWLEDGE BACKING THAT MUSCLE
BETWEEN THOSE INCREDIBLE THIGHS

How Little I Know

When I was young, I knew it all.
The world was simple as I recall.
Things were right or wrong and black or white.
Everything was within my sight.

As I grew older the world changed,
Or maybe my thinking rearranged.
I became less apt to draw quick conclusions,
As I became aware of many confusions.

I learned to listen and think before I spoke.
Then when even older my mind awoke.
It awoke and I understood to my surprise,
Knowing how little I know can be wise.

Song For Dad

Lately Ive been noticing
I say the same things he used to say
And I even find myself acting the very same way
I tap my fingers on the table
To the rhythm in my soul
And I jingle the car keys
When Im ready to go
When I look in the mirror
Hes right there in my eyes
Starin back at me and I realize
The older I get
The more I can see
How much he loved my mother and my brother and me
And he did the best that he could
And I only hope when I have my own family
That everyday I see
A little more of my father in me
There were times I thought he was bein
Just a little bit hard on me
But now I understand he was makin me
Become the man he knew that I could be
In everything he ever did
He always did with love
And Im proud today to say Im his son
When somebody says I hope I get to meet your dad
I just smile and say you already have
The older I get
The more I can see
How much he loved my mother and my brother and me
And he did the best that he could
And I only hope when I have my own family
That everyday I see
A little more of my father in me
Hes in my eyes
My heart, my soul
My hands, my pride
And when I feel alone
And I think I cant go on
I hear him sayin son youll be alright
Everythings gonna be alright
Yes it is
The older I get
The more I can see
That he loved my mother and my brother and me
And he did the best that he could
And I only hope when I have my own family
That everyday I see
Oh I hope I see
I hope everyday I see
A little more of my father in me
A little more of my father in me
I hope everyday I see in me
In me
In me
I hope everyday I see
A little more of my father in me

Childless Couples Gift

the childless couple pray every day
that a child will come their way.
they tried everything to conceive
and at night, she sits and bereaves.

they go to doctors and clinics
and do all sorts of tests
they do everything they're told
and give it their best.

they showed people what they
expected them to see.
but! their pain is the harsh reality.

hiding the pain that was embedded so deep
but! it was a pain they could not defeat.
they knew they had a couple of options left
either a surrogate mother, or to adopt.

although they knew that the final
decision would be theirs.
they spoke about it hours on end
spoke with family and their friends.

they decided to take a trip to ' boys town'
and speak with others who had been turned down.
speaking with children who were still
looking to be part of a family
and ' how they would search the adoption history'

they asked: do most people looking to adopt
seem to be put on a spot?
a young boy of about twelve, decided to speak.

he said: most adopting parents seek a young child
because they think that an older one
is not worth their while.

they think that there must be a reason
that the older child was not taken.
but! they don't know how much they're mistaken.

we older children have learned right from wrong
and have gone through heartbreak the same as you.
so! ' what are we supposed to do.'
to hide our heads in the ground
never to be found?
we can love and be loved the same as you
and in your hearts ' you know it's true.'

so if you are coming with that thought in mind
there are hundreds here that you will find.
his tears started rolling down his eyes
as he was walking away.

when he heard the mans voice say
' wait a minute my son, for you are the one.
you are what we've been seeking
and our love you'll be keeping.

just give us a chance to prove you're right
for you are GODS gift- this very night.

What'll I. Do?

The years going quick, my mind is playing tricks,
My body is reeking in pain, oops, I just did the splits;
Where's the balance now I'm getting older,
But isn't it great, the older we get, we get more bolder.
Oh what'll I do, I ask! Yep, What'll I do?

As the years progress faster, time is my master,
Bearing down on me, to me time is a pester;
Then memory lane to me, is disappearing,
And the grey hairs are quickly appearing;
Oh dear, What am I to do, what am I to do.

Those friends I knew from years ago,
Gradually go away, to a place so free; it's true;
And the shopping and housework that has to be done,
Seems I'm not finished till the setting of sun;
Oh. What'll I do, yep, what'll I do.

Father I Still Love You

I tried so hard to love you
But you never really cared
I tried so hard to trust you
But you were never really there

I wanted you to love me
But your heart had grown so cold
I wanted you to play with me
But money was your only goal

And now that I've grown older
And I look back on the years
I remember all the anger
The hurt the pain the tears

Father I forgive you
For all those wasted years
And I try not to remember
All the hurt the pain the tears

But father just please tell me
Did you ever love me once
Or was I just like leftovers
That you throw out after lunch

Father I still love you
And I'll never let that die
But father just please look at me
Say you love me to my eye

Father I must be honest
When you left I found another
My Father up in Heaven
And Jesus my loving Brother

They were the ones who loved me
When you had never cared
They were the ones who saved me
From a life of hate and despair

Father I still love you
And that will always stay true
But father will you love me
Because your child still needs you.

The Ruler Knows Us

You are three years older than Emmanuel,
And you are three years and eight months older than i am;
But Emmanuel is eight months older than i am.
This is like the game of ages around us,
But the Ruler knows us all;
And He knows when someone is born and when someone will die,
For this all about His works on this earth.
