Where you start is not as important as where you finish.

Alameda
You walk down alameda shuffling your deck of trick cards over everyone
Like some precious only son
Face down, bow to the champion
You walk down alameda looking at the cracks in the sidewalk
Thinking about your friends
How you maintain all them in a constant state of suspense
For your own protection over their affection
Nobody broke your heart
You broke your own because you cant finish what you start
Walk down alameda brushing off the nightmare you wish
Could plague me when Im awake
And now you see your first mistake was thinking that you could relate
For one or two minutes she liked you
But the fix is in
Youre all pretension
I never pay attention
Nobody broke your heart
You broke your own because you cant finish what you start
Nobody broke your heart
You broke your own because you cant finish what you start
Nobody broke your heart
You broke your own because you cant finish what you start
Nobody broke your heart
If youre alone it must be you that wants to be apart

Musing on mortality
Musing on mortality.
Though we all start on equal terms
Your life experience will affirm.
All finish up as food for worms.
Some will win whilst others lose
We have no choice we can’t refuse
All finish up as food for worms.
Although we strive to stay alive
By any means we can contrive.
All finish up as food for worms
Some settle for cremation
An act of desperation.
All finish up as food for worms
Although the ashes are broadcast
They mingle with the soil at last.
All finish up as food for worms
That is the way it’s meant to be.
There is no doubt eventually.
All finish up as food for worms
The only true equality
Is found within the cemetery
ALL FINISH UP AS FOOD FOR WORMS.

I had an awful first quarter but I picked it up. To all you single guys out there, it's not how you start the date, it's how you finish it sir. A lot of people can, you know, start the date with flowers and candy, but if you don't finish the date - you know what I mean?

I Know You By Heart
Everybody wants to find a love
Somebody, somebody who will always care
We get locked up in our own worlds
With feelings and secrets were afraid to share
But all I have to do is see you smile
And maybe, just maybe if I brush your hand
Something happens I cannot explain
And somehow, oh somehow I can understand
I, I think youre gonna find
Gonna find you
Gonna find you
Im reading your mind
I know you by heart
And youre so much a part of me
I know you by heart, yes I do
Its no wonder I can love you the way that I do
I can finish any sentence you start
I know you, I know you by heart
I know everytime youre gonna call
I pick up the phone before it ever rings
And when you need some lovin Ill be there
Beside you anticipating everything
Oh its like I always said
Youre the one I want
All I want is you
Im inside your head
I know you by heart
Girl, youre so much a part of me
I know you by heart, yes I do
Its no wonder I can love you the way that I do
I can finish any sentence you start
I know you, I know you by heart
Its no wonder I can love you the way that I do
I can finish any sentence you start
I know you, I know you by heart
I know you by heart
And youre so much a part of me
I know you by heart, I know you, I know you, I know you
Its no wonder I can love you the way that I do
I can finish any sentence you start
I know you, I know you by

Anything Done You Do
Whatever you do and the reason being
Don't excuse it for some other thing changed you'll do.
Get one thing done.
Not for me,
But for you.
Whatever you do and the reason being
Don't excuse it for some other thing changed you'll do.
Get one thing done.
Not for me,
But for you.
You'll start one thing and not finish it
Anything done you do.
I just want to see you begin and not quit.
Anything done you do.
Yet you'll sit and criticize no matter what it is.
Anything done you do.
Then you say I'm the one that gives you the lip.
Anything done you do.
Get one thing done.
Not for me,
But for you.
Anything done you do.
Whatever you do and the reason being
Don't excuse it for some other thing changed you'll do.
Get one thing done.
Not for me,
But for you.
Anything done you do.
You'll start one thing and not finish it.
Anything done you do.
I just want to see you begin and not quit.
Anything done you do.
Yet you'll sit and criticize no matter what it is.
Anything done you do.
Then you say I'm the one that gives you the lip.
Anything done you do.
Just finish.
Anything done you do.
Just finish.
Anything done you do.
Just finish.
Anything done you do.
Just finish.
Anything done you do.

Davids Song
Wontcha let me rock and roll you baby
I havent seen you in a long, long time
I havent fooled around with any candles lately
Just thought you might have some music in mind
Chorus:
Ah I just want to serenade you
Maybe we could even live a verse or two
And I could finish this ole love song
So I could start singing it to you
I could start singing it to you
If I could finish this ole love song
And I could start singing it to you
Wont you come and boogie-woogie with me baby
Its been a while since I held you close to me
I havent met many boys like you baby
Knew I would find you eventually

Early Works - Wishing Time
I walk through the cobwebs of my mind,
through the maze of thoughts and stories
pass the sadness and the heartaches
of the days that pass so quickly.
That are here and gone before you know it
and how you start but never finish
always wishing time would stand still
just to let you finish something you’ve started.

Life's End
Then life was a wonderful happiness,
If its commencement was fulfilled by soceity,
If its finish was not of unhappiness
And the ending was its finish,
The very same as Fate.
One loved the purpose of existing on the World
As we were thrust headlong into peril of work
Yet made a finish.
The perils are to demand a finish,
and leave us with splendour,
To find Height at the Heaven.

Stop Where You Are
(words & music by grant - baum - kaye)
Stop where you are
Dont move an inch
Dont come any closer now baby
Youll be in a pinch
Dont start what you cant finish
I warn you whats in store
If its love youre looking to get
Youre gonna get what youre looking for
Stop where you are
Youd better freeze
Dont pull the fire now baby
Dont be a tease
Dont start what you cant finish
I told you once before
If its love youre looking to get
Youre gonna get what youre looking for
Dont you know, youre walking on dangerous ground
Listen babe when I make love
I just dont fool around, no I dont
I just dont play around
Stop where you are
Just take it slow
Once I put my hands on you baby
I wont let you go
Dont start what you cant finish
One kiss and I want more
If its love youre looking to get
Youre gonna get what youre looking for
Stop where you are
Dont move an inch
Stop where you are
Youre gonna be in a pinch
Stop where you are
Youre gonna get what youre looking for

Finish What You Started
(m. malamet/a. roboff/a. lang/d. lambert)
So, near yet so far
Thats how it is
Oh, thats how you are
What more can I do?
These walls wont let me get through
But if I know you, you will
Chorus:
Finish what you started
Youll come back to me
I know its gonna feel, baby
Like it used to be
So finish what you started
I will wait for you
I know where I stand
A fool for your love
Oh, thats what I am
Im losin control
Youre down too deep in my soul
To let you go, wont ya
(repeat chorus)
Im standing here shakin
Wonderin if you let me in
Oh, dont watch my heart breakin
Knowing what we could have been
What more can I do?
Your heart just wont let me through
But if I know you (finish what you started)
And I think I know you, baby (finish what you started)
And you can really show me if
You finish what you started
Youll come back to me
I know its gonna feel, baby
Like it used to be
So finish what you started
I will wait for you
I will wait for you (ahh)
Finish what you started
Im gonna wait for you
Finish what you started
Dont you keep me waitin (ohhh)
Finish what you started (ohhh)
Finish what you started
Youll come back to me
I know its gonna feel baby
Like it used to be
So finish what you started
I will wait for you

I Want To Be The Boy To Warm Your Mother's Heart
I want to be the boy, to warm your mothers heart
Im so scared to take you away
I tried to win her over right from the start
But something always got in the way
Weve been sitting in your backyard for hours
But she wont even come out and say hi
While my mother baked a little cake for you
And even dreaded when you said goodbye
What kind of cartwheels do I have to pull?
What kind of joke should I lay on her now?
Im inclined to go finish high school
Just to make her notice that Im around
Well nothing I came up with seems to work
It feels like everything I say is lie
And never have I felt like such a jerk
Im afraid to even open my eyes
Because I really dont want her to judge me
I want her to really know who I am
And then, and only then will she love me
Well at least that was the plan
If ever a boy needed a holiday
If ever a girl needed someone to hold
I just hope I dont act the same way
By the time I get that old
What kind of cartwheels do I have to pull?
What kind of joke should I lay on her now?
Im inclined to go finish high school
Just to make her notice that Im around
I never said I was the heir to a fortune
I never claimed to have any looks
But these kind of things must be important
Because somebody ripped out my page in your telephone book
I want to warm her heart

you do not start at the end
you will not be understood
but you insist
to start from the end itself
it will be interesting you say
and they will follow you through
confused
they will mind every word
because they cannot understand
it is the end
you say is the most important
the most dramatic part
and that is all that they want
so you start from there
and end from the very beginning
inverted
but not really perverted
not for the fun
but for the run, now i understand you
like rashomon
more arguments shall come
like battered wives
complaining about their husbands
like children lost
finding their home in the streets
like some of us
wanting to start with nice endings
always finding hard
to end with new beginnings
for a start
but indeed, there is nothing
that is so hard
that cannot really be learned

To finish a work? To finish a picture? What nonsense! To finish it means to be through with it, to kill it, to rid it of its soul, to give it its final blow the coup de grace for the painter as well as for the picture.

Well, you know, I think in conversations with members of the Senate and others, they all recognize that the issue of immigration is important. It's important to our nation, it's important to our public safety, it's important to our security, it's important to our economic well-being moving forward. And it's not something that's going to go away.

To be important, …
Importance is not goodness.
It is a quality entailing
Attention or recognition.
It’s important to respect;
It’s important to serve;
It’s important not to hurt.
Anyone who is not important
By breed, wealth or rank
Can become important thus.
