If the programmer can simulate a construct faster than the compiler can implement the construct itself, then the compiler writer has blown it badly.

A Brave Child
To wave a brave man comes with fun,
Construct a bend, construct orphan.
To die may buy some certain craze,
The orphanage designs always.
We burn from lusts that orphans don’t,
Their purity must force, but won’t.
The excellence surprises me,
Of children working a penny.

The sciences do not try to explain, they hardly even try to interpret, they mainly make models. By a model is meant a mathematical construct which, with the addition of certain verbal interpretations, describes observed phenomena. The justification of such a mathematical construct is solely and precisely that it is expected to work.

Science cannot tell theology how to construct a doctrine of creation, but you can't construct a doctrine of creation without taking account of the age of the universe and the evolutionary character of cosmic history.

At least for the people who send me mail about a new language that they're designing, the general advice is: do it to learn about how to write a compiler.

I don't think I would have been a writer if I hadn't been a mother. I wanted to construct something that contained some of these feelings that I had, some of these discoveries or revelations.

Law Of War
The law of war is to strike a man’s innards
Until he burgeons into another man.
His trick will fool you, and reduce you,
For smooth feelings are not to be retained by you.
The wars construct a measure to win,
The general wins his military campaign
Depending on the thinkers and soldiers
And their innards.
God has made their bodies to construct guns
And strike at the hearts and livers of the enemy
So dangerous.

Thompson and Ritchie were among the first to realize that hardware and compiler technology had become good enough that an entire operating system could be written in C, and by 1978 the whole environment had been successfully ported to several machines of different types.

Sex, no depreciation
Face has flash and shade.
To construct is to destruct.
Energy gains while fuel dies.
Exception is the sexual love.
The back is as good as the front.
.Shade shines in flash.
To destruct is to construct.
Desire burns while fuel grows.

There were a lot of utopias in the nineteenth century, wonderful societies that we might possibly construct. Those went pretty much out of fashion after World War I. And almost immediately one of the utopias that people were trying to construct, namely the Soviet Union, threw out a writer called Zamyatin who wrote a seminal book called We, which contains the seeds of Orwell and Huxley. Writers started doing dystopias after we saw the effects of trying to build utopias that required, unfortunately, the elimination of a lot of people before you could get to the perfect point, which never arrived. … I don’t believe in a perfect world. I don’t believe it’s achievable, and I believe the people who try to achieve it usually end up turning it into something like Cambodia or something very similar because purity tests set in. Are you ideologically pure enough to be allowed to live? Well, it turns out that very few people are, so you end up with a big powerful struggle and a mass killing scene.

Flat pack
Constructed at will
By will constructed
Instructed at will
By will instructed
If anyone knows will whose real name is bill
Can you ask him instructed him
To construct it?
Is he the instructor?
or the metagrobulizing instructor?
And who is he instructing?
And what is it, he is constructing?
If all truth is constructed?
On construction,
What dreams may come....when we have
Shuffled off this
Vast man made construction site
That will, did will construct it?

An Adventure
A free venture, a project so admired,
Will be listed tonight, like a headline.
And we shall entwine the layers of work,
This interlace promises us reward, so much profit.
Enveloped by the masses, it is good reading,
Polluted like fire and ice together;
Entries are being made to madly construct
And provoke extra blessing, extra poison.
Envenomed by the guards of living,
We construct the throat and its requirements,
Towards it we sing of our praises,
Enviable places are these praises of love.
Our venture is stunning, so fortunate for us,
And our privilege.
