My Daddy

My daddy was never there for me.
My daddy always drank.
My daddy told me I was worthless and unworthy of his time.
My daddy was the one who made me, but also broke me.

My daddy never came to my birthday parties.
My daddy came to my 5Th grade graduation drunk as can be.
My daddy would walk into my room every night with a belt in his hand.
My daddy was the one who shattered all my dreams.

My daddy wouldn't let me sleep until he hit me.
My daddy would tell me I'm nothing but a piece of crap.
My daddy was the one who tore my life into pieces.
My daddy is not my daddy any more...
He can be your daddy if you'll take him.

That man I called my daddy, he never was truly a daddy.

But he was still my daddy.

I always looked up to my daddy
I thought my daaddy was the coolest, smoothest daddy every
I liked for my dad to come up to my school
I like for my daddy to come to my school and pick me up form school
And all of my homegirls use to ask me who is that?
And I always say that's my daddy can't he so cool
Until I left school and found him with my best friend

Daddy why did you leave Mommy before I was born?
Daddy why weren't you there for my birth?
Daddy why did you divorce Mommy when I was only five months old?

Santa I'm Right Here

I was downtown Christmas shopping
Such a busy city street
I don't know how I noticed the piece of paper at my feet
But somethin' made me pick it up, instead of goin' on my way
I stopped and froze right in my tracks
As I read what it had to say
Oh Santa, if you can't find me
We're livin' out here on the street
But I'll be watchin' for you, you're not gonna forget me, are you
Daddy says he knows you'll try
But we might be too hard to find this year

I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus,
Underneath the mistletoe last night.
She didn't see me creep, down the stairs to have a peek,
She thought that I was tucked up in my bedroom fast asleep!
Then, I saw mommy tickle Santa Claus,

If Daddy Only Knew

I wonder if Daddy knew I had to become super-responsible and a miniature adult at the age of 12
I wonder if Daddy knew life at home was full of broken promises and full of disappointment.
