Did I hear you say you wished that you could leave her?
Has some foolish disagreement made you blind ?
If you traveled round this world, you wouldn't find another girl
To hold the candle to the guy you left behind.
And boy, she's carrying the torch for you
Though solid tears may fall, you never know.
But on the day that you discover how much you really love her

Torch' Relay Hits Town
From many miles around, the people came
To catch a glimpse of the Olympic Flame.
The Torch was the focus of a huge celebration:
It visited places the whole length of the nation.
The excited crowds began to steadily flock
In to the town centre at around three o'clock.
As crowds waited to see the lucky Torchbearers,
They agreed that the weather could not be fairer.
Local children were given the day off from school:
They all considered that this was really quite cool!
Many of the local roads were temporarily closed:
A nightmare for motorists, this arrangement posed.
I felt disappointed that I had to work on that day,
But to the doorway of our shop, I made my way.
I could hear the assembled crowd's excited cheers,
And I knew that the Torch must be drawing near.
I could hear horns blowing and whistles shrieking,
But it was the Torch itself which my eyes were seeking.
The Torchbearer, who I saw, looked extremely proud
As he ran, with flame in hand, past the waiting crowd.
The people, who had cameras, merrily clicked away,
Capturing images of the Torch, on that historic day.
Within the town, there was a wonderful atmosphere:
There was a mood of celebration mixed with cheer.
Down the High Street, the Torchbearer dashed:
The historic moment was over, as quick as a flash.
But within my heart, I felt a sense of satisfaction
That I had been lucky enough to glimpse the action.
I thought that the Torch itself looked really quite smart:
Its golden honeycomb design was a real work of art.
After the Torch had passed, the crowd then dispersed,
And I set about capturing the historic moment in verse!

in soft September, at slow, sad Michaelmas.
Bavarian gentians, big and dark, only dark
darkening the daytime, torch-like, with the smoking blueness of Pluto's
gloom,
ribbed and torch-like, with their blaze of darkness spread blue
down flattening into points, flattened under the sweep of white day

Old Loves Interference
I will explain, I will explain, just remember its never to late.
At a moment notice if you called.
I'd come running.
But it just ain't happened and who knows probably never will.
So with the communication dead in the water.
I disappear.
Its just not the right atmosphere.
Please don't hate me cause I'm no longer thier.
I guess I cant be your crutch no more.
Lean on me only if you really need me just doesn't do it anymore.
their isn't a day that doesn't go by where you don't cross my mind.
But that where it goes straight to my head.
How far would you really have had carry that torch.
How many relationships has that already destroyed.
Guidance is not the same as emotional interference.
I must have a full heart not one that's be constantly torn apart.
Absolution is my conclusion.
Sometimes one must fall hard to stand tall.
