Eleanor Roosevelt

Where, after all, do universal human rights begin? In small places, close to home - so close and so small that they cannot be seen on any map of the world. Yet they are the world of the individual person: The neighbourhood he lives in; the school or college he attends; the factory, farm or office where he works. Such are the places where every man, woman and child seeks equal justice, equal opportunity, equal dignity without discrimination. Unless these rights have meaning there, they have little meaning anywhere. Without concerted citizen action to uphold them close to home, we shall look in vain for progress in the larger world.

Equal Rights,2011

equal rights to live,
equal rights to love.
equal rights to believe,
to speak out, to stand up
and be counted.

equal rights to work,
equal rights to study.
equal rights to build.
equal rights to profess faith,
equal rights to pray.

equal rights to give...
equal rights to live,
equal rights to love!

For Government To Be Fair!

for any government to be fair,
every citizen has to be
just as important as every other.
every citizen has to have equal rights,
whether black or white,
rich or poor, gay or straight.
whether they believe in the same god,
in another, or in none.
whether they speak english,
or another language.
whether they are educated,
or not!
every citizen has to have an equal chance,
for employment, for education,
for housing, for love and happiness.
and every citizen has to respect,
both himself, and others...
this government should be
a government by the people...
any leader should be from among the people.
government, small in tether,
large in affirmation!
we're not anywhere close to this in America!

we have been sold out by our own greed,
and have chosen in our apathy to follow the lie.
now it's come to a head!
what we do next determines if democracy works.
what we do next defines our level of humanity.
call it democracy, call it socialism,
it doesnt matter what you call it.
what it has to be is redemption...
what it has to bring, is freedom!
finally!

I want to work on respecting individuals' dignity. Equal rights, that's where my heart is. That means equal rights and benefits, and that's what we need.

I’d like to see our politics begin to return to the purposes and practices that distinguish our history from the history of other nations. I would like to see us recover our sense that we are more alike than different. We are citizens of a republic made of shared ideals forged in a new world to replace the tribal enmities that tormented the old one. Even in times of political turmoil such as these, we share that awesome heritage and the responsibility to embrace it. Whether we think each other right or wrong in our views on the issues of the day, we owe each other our respect, as long as our character merits respect, and as long as we share, for all our differences, for all the rancorous debates that enliven and sometimes demean our politics, a mutual devotion to the ideals our nation was conceived to uphold, that all are created equal, and liberty and equal justice are the natural rights of all. Those rights inhabit the human heart, and from there, though they may be assailed, they can never be wrenched. I want to urge Americans, for as long as I can, to remember that this shared devotion to human rights is our truest heritage and our most important loyalty.

A Woman's Lament

Why are men always chefs, but women just cooks?
How come wrinkles age a woman, but enhance a man's good looks?
Why is grey at the temples of a man debonair,
But the same on a woman has her tearing out her hair?
Some men have a paunch they're proud to display,
A woman flaunting hers would be viewed with dismay.
At forty, an eligible bachelor he'll be,
A female a spinster, unplucked from the tree
A man is well-built, a woman plain fat
And men don't get cellulite. What's fair about that?
And how many married men play golf or catch fishes,
Whilst women are home washing baby and dishes?
So for equal rights and equal pay you can pass new legislation,
But you'll never change the attitudes that cause discrimination.

John F. Kennedy

This Nation was founded by men of many nations and backgrounds. It was founded on the principle that all men are created equal, and that the rights of every man are diminished when the rights of one man are threatened. Today we are committed to a worldwide struggle to promote and protect the rights of all who wish to be free. … We are confronted primarily with a moral issue. It is as old as the scriptures and is as clear as the American Constitution. The heart of the question is whether all Americans are to be afforded equal rights and equal opportunities, whether we are going to treat our fellow Americans as we want to be treated.

If 1 And 2 Were Equal

If 1 and 2 were equal
we'd have as many hearts as fists

If 1 and 2 were equal
we'd have confused shopping lists

If 1 and 2 were equal
there'd be less phone numbers to dial

If 1 and 2 were equal
noon would surely last a while

If 1 and 2 were equal
there'd be a nose under each eye

If 1 and 2 were equal
you couldn't say no to 'you and I? '

If 1 and 2 were equal
I think I'd be much more happy

'cause if 1 and 2 were equal
I would not be so lonely

Home even when i am away from home.

You can take me out of home
But you can't take out home in me
Distance? Keep me away from home
And one day home will keep you away from you
Mountain? You might close the space
And the space will never close the home vehemence in me

Liar? you might lie about my home
But you can't lie about meaning of home
Gossip monger? you might gossip about my home
But you can't gossip about home fever in me
Killer? Kill miles between
When you reach my flesh
Don't flash out the meaning of home in me

You can turn diagrams into diamonds
You can turn zeros into heroes
You can turn gold into old
You can turn sorrow into happiness
Still you can't change the meaning of home in me
You can travel all over the world
But no better place than home
You can reconcile irreconcilable
You can replace irreplaceable
You can destruct indestructible
You can fringe infringeable
But still no better place than you home

Regardless of what ever hardship of life
Regardless of what ever happiness
Regardless of state of mind
Regardless of what ever health status
Home is the best

Home is not where I lay my head
Its where my mind
Home is not where I hailed
It's where my spirit is
No better place than home
Home is home

Tryst

In a world where all
Are hunched and lathered
I know only one
Equal to me in strength.

In a world where we
Seek so much,
I know only one
Equal to me in might.

In a world where everything
Is mold and vines,
I know: only
You are equal in essence

To me.

The Forgotten Hungry And Homeless

The forgotten hungry and homeless nowadays to be found everywhere
There are millions of them close to a billion in the bigger World out there
The refugees of drought stricken Lands and of warlords and the homeless of Poverty Street
Basic human rights of them are denied shelter from the weather and enough for to eat
In a Human World where everyone is supposed to be equal after all we breathe in the same air
But the poor and the homeless and the hungry cannot feel that life is very fair
The minority those who are too wealthy people with too much of everything
Are people that many look up to though their praises I cannot sing,
In an egalatarian Human World everyone would have a home to live in
And nobody would be without food and well dressed and not ragged and thin
The poor by the day growing poorer and that does seem a sad thing to say
And the refugee camps of the World are all overcrowded today,
'Tis sad to think that from the poverty of many that a minority does stand to gain
And I with enough of food and shelter have no reason for to complain.

Thomas Jefferson

Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

Two opposite things

Man cannot conceive like woman.
Is he equal to woman?
Woman will not rape as man does.
Is she equal to man?
Man is plus and woman, minus.
They aren’t equal.
Man is a positive and woman, a negative.
They aren’t equal.
Equality is not the need of the hour.
fitting to each other.
Union is not of two equal things
But two opposite things.
Man is a tree and woman, a vine.
Clinging is assured

I Am a Woman

I AM APHRODITE,
I AM ATHENA,
I AM A WOMAN.
I TRANSFORM THE WORLD,
WITH MY STEPS.
A WOMAN I AM,
A WOMAN I WILL BE...
HEAR HEAR WORLD,
THE OTHER HALF APPROACHES.
RESPECT IS MINE, DIGNITY IS MY BIRTHRIGHT,
ASK AND IT IS MINE,
CHANGE IS IN MY HANDS.
THE POWER IS MINE.
A WOMAN, I CAN.
BORN EQUAL IN A WORLD.
WOMAN - THE MASTER OF ROLES. THE SHAPE OF MY SKIN CANNOT DICTATE MY LIFE.
I, A WOMAN,
SEEK THE WORLD
OF MY RIGHTS, I AM WORTHY.
CHERISHED WITH LOVE,
I RISE LIKE THE SUN,
THE YONDER SKIES BELOW.
I FEEL THE FLIGHT OF SATISFACTION.
THE SANDS OF TIME,
AWAITS MY FOOTPRINTS...............
I A WOMAN,
AM BOLD,
AM COURAGEOUS,
THE GLASS CEILING IS MINE,
TO BREAK.
I CARE NOT FOR PAIN,
BUT FOR THE SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS.
I GO HITHER,
INTO THE WORLD.
I CLAIM IT.
I A WOMAN...
I DESERVE IT.
I RISE ABOVE,
I SMILE,
THE WORLD IS MINE,
FOR TAKING.
STRIVE,
THE WORLD AWAITS,
MY HARD WORK.
I RETRACE MY STEPS,
TOWARDS PARADISE,
WHERE ADAM BECKONS.
I BEGIN ANEW,
WITH WINGS OF IRON.
I CHALLENGE THE WORLD,
IT BENDS,
IT BOWS,
AND I A WOMAN....
TRIUMPH IN ZENITH.

Tye

I was once a great queen of Egypt,
Though I ‘am just a lifeless mummy now,
I was once at the heart of Egyptian life,
I became first queen of real power,
I helped shape history through my actions,
My name still lives on today,
People still carry my name after all these years,
I have become as close to immortal as any human can,
History still remembers who I was,
The Tye name lives on across the world,
People still us my name with pride,
Though I died so long ago I still live on,
Showing the world what I achieved,
I was the first woman to become an equal to men,
People respected me for my wisdom and intellect,
I paved the way for all those who followed me,
I was the first of many great queens though-out history,
I ‘am a sign of what could be achieved by one person.

Autumn Equinox

During autumn Equinox
Days and nights are equal,
All over the world!
The rays of the sun fall
Vertically at the Equator.
All places have equal days
And nights as neither
Pole is inclined towards
The sun………
It is autumn in the North
And Spring in the South,
hemisphere...........
Let this world fill with
equal light, and let
the controlling power
be as Autumn Equinox.
Neither inclined to
the rich nor to any
particular class--
So that, they may get,
either fall or spring....

To The American People

common sense solutions:

tax the wealthy.
tax corporations and financial institutions.
put a tariff on imports.
go back to building things here.
get behind the American farmers.
grow as much of your own food as you can.
raise the minimum wage.
change from oil addiction to alternative fuels.
stop the damn wars.
feed every child!
give every child equal education opportunities.
stop prescribing narcotic pills like m & m's.
take money out of the courtrooms.
let anyone live here that works and contributes.
teach your children respect.
teach them to read.
teach them to work.
make health insurance a part of your taxes,
on a percentage basis where it's fair to all.
give everyone equal health care.
take care of the aged and the disabled.
but people that can work need to work!
fight for the environment for our children's sakes.
quit fighting over religion, politics, and sexual orientation.
restore human dignity by equal rights, equal justice.
stop judging, and start affirming.
pay politicians minimum wage!
clean up the street gangs and the prisons...
put prisoners to work, and educate them!
stop building bombs and armies,
and rebuild this country...
the roads, the cities, the factories...
put people back to work!
stop spraying crops with harmful chemicals
and feeding animals antibiotics
that are dangerous...
and pay teachers like they have the most
impotant job in the world...
they do!
teaching your children!
