<div style="background:#fff;border:#bbb dashed 1px;padding:5px"><a href="http://en.citatepedia.ro/comments.php?id=370333" style="color:#000;text-decoration:none"><div style="margin:10px 0"><strong>New Year,2010 – Boon or Bane?</strong></div><div style="margin:10px 0">And when the clock strikes twelve midnight, <br>The Old year makes o’er for the New, <br>Heralded by much revelry, <br>Fire-works, sound and light with dance, <br>And music of great decibels, <br>That fills the air of cities, towns, <br>Where exotic foods, wine are served! </div><div style="margin:10px 0">Most people are in festive mood, <br>As roads are thronged by surging crowds<br>Of merry-making, young and old, <br>Who embellish the change in time<br>That history makes throughout the world, <br>Forgetting all the past year’s woes, <br>Enjoying ecstasied moments! </div><div style="margin:10px 0">But these are fleeting hours of life<br>Replaced by stark realities, <br>That wakes up persons from their ‘dreams’, <br>And puts them back upon the lanes<br>Of darkness, drudgery and grief, <br>Reminding transience of life<br>On earth as if it was worthless! </div><div style="margin:10px 0">And things are same for poor brethren, <br>As richer nations waste huge sums, <br>In pomp and show and wars futile, <br>To worsen plight of poorer ones<br>And do a name-sake charity<br>To show the world, they care for all –<br>An act of trickery so fine! </div><div style="margin:10px 0">Is the New Year then a boon or bane? <br>Let leaders question their own hearts<br>And feel remorse for foolish acts, <br>And past decisions taken wrong, <br>That made the air and water foul, <br>And resources scarcer with time, <br>And living, miserable for all.</div><div style="margin:10px 0">Will New Year give a better deal<br>For children, women, challenged souls –<br>Who find the world unfair, cruel, <br>Who plead to God for better days, <br>Who bear the ignominy deep, <br>Who live their lives like dumb, maimed beasts, <br>Hoping the morrow brings reprieve? </div><div style="margin:10px 0">Let New Year make people rethink<br>On how to make the world better<br>For mankind all, and progeny, <br>By spreading peace and harmony, <br>Through dialogues amidst nations, <br>Averting holocausts and wars, <br>Those steal lives and commodities! </div><div style="margin:10px 0">Let New Year instill hope in all –<br>Who toil but earn a pittance just, <br>Who run from pillar to new posts, <br>Who cannot get a meal a day, <br>Who are half-clothed and without roof, <br>Who fall in debt-traps, so ruthless, <br>Who wonder if God does exist? </div><div style="margin:10px 0">Let New Year make all righteous, <br>And fill all minds with fortitude, <br>And fill hearts with love for neighbors, <br>Elderly and even strangers; <br>And prove the fact that God is one, <br>Who is pro-life and cares for all, <br>Especially the womb’s unborn! </div><div style="margin:10px 0">Let New Year bring blessings from God; <br>Let wisdom rule all human acts; <br>Let heinous crimes be things of past; <br>Let terrorists be stifled soon; <br>Let nukes be dismantled off fast; <br>Let marriage, sex remain sacred; <br>Let dignity of life be prime! </div><div style="margin:10px 0">Is the New Year boon or bane, now ask? <br>Is world now better place to live? <br>Is lasting peace now felt by all? <br>Is brotherhood of nations true? <br>Is love the balm that soothes people? <br>Is earthly life now worth living? <br>Is earth a real paradise? </div><div style="margin:10px 0">Let Twenty Ten be the New Year<br>That brings all souls nearer to God, <br>And earth’s sky closer to Heaven, <br>And earth-filled people who rejoice, <br>Regretting not for being born, <br>But praising God for being made<br>‘Homo sapiens, ’ man or woman! </div><div style="margin:10px 0">‘Happy New Year,2010 to all! ’</div><div style="margin:10px 0">Copyright by Dr John Celes 12-30-2009</div><div style="margin:10px 0"><br /></a><br />poem by <a href="http://en.citatepedia.ro/by.php?a=John+Celes">John Celes</a><div class=q>
