Pastor</strong></div><div style="margin:10px 0">He was a boy next door from the fishing village of Galle<br>Who answered his tug from heaven like Saul abiding to God's call<br>A quiet voice peeled away the solemnity of his peace<br>As the boy transformed in tune to a new life's lease</div><div style="margin:10px 0">Then he joined the halls of a budding boys seminary<br>Yet one eve while going to town (Kohuwala) , he encountered Marie<br>A dainty lass with a heavenly gait and an eternal smile<br>As his life metamorphosed from the road less traveled, to a woman's guile</div><div style="margin:10px 0">Yet the pull of God was complete and steadfast<br>Like a giant arm from heaven steering your heart<br>As the prayers parted his lips with a solemnity unforeseen<br>A life of prayer and solitude beckoned away from his queen</div><div style="margin:10px 0">Then one day as he took his solemn oath<br>Amidst the white overalls there was a lass who loathed<br>Her lover's commitment to God, unwavering, even amidst her passion and love<br>As his lips parted with agreement, to serve the downtrodden with fraternal love</div><div style="margin:10px 0">Then as years passed she would finally meet a knight in shining armor<br>As the heart would yield from the past's hurt to welcome splendorous amor<br>She would look at the heavens and thank God for the new guy in her life<br>As she embarked on a future not of a queen but of a content wife</div><div style="margin:10px 0">Yet amidst the love she carried for the youth in her path<br>She could never forget the touch nor the boyish grin of her prince of her past<br>As the marshmellows roasted above the camping inferno<br>She would lean next to the youth and whisper 'I want you forever, at hello'</div><div style="margin:10px 0">Then the day finally arrived as she parted from her parents<br>As showers sprung forth, blessings in their monsoon torrents<br>As two became one, amidst the showers of providence<br>Love blossomed between two hearts in their unique resonance</div><div style="margin:10px 0">Amidst the audience there was a youth in a white robe<br>Who wiped away the tears that sprung forth<br>As a collage of their past ran amok his naive psyche<br>As he was about to lose forever, his most treasured key</div><div style="margin:10px 0">The key to his heart that reigned even amidst God's calling<br>The key that turned his heart to unconditional love's falling<br>The key to his happiness that loomed large like Nimbus in a monsoon sky<br>The key that he threw away to answer God's call from the heavenly sky</div><div style="margin:10px 0">Then as the ceremony reached its absorbing zenith<br>There was a heart waiting in a corner, beneath<br>Wanting so much now, to stand on the elevated alter<br>As the proceedings transformed from solemnity, to love's falter </div><div style="margin:10px 0">Amidst the jubilation of the newly wedded couple<br>Adam and Eve in marital bliss though in the presence of a priestly apple<br>As she parted the alter, walking back, holding her beloved's hand<br>She glanced at her past, a final gaze at her much treasured man</div><div style="margin:10px 0">What she saw in her haste, was his eyes parting with tears<br>Like monsoon from the getaways in a backdropp of fears<br>Fears beckoned, of solitude, in the absence of her love<br>Has he lost forever, his beloved treasure trove</div><div style="margin:10px 0">Tears from his eyes, transformed to a downpour from her getaways<br>As she valiantly tried to shroud the tears away<br>Yet the truth came forth like a storm to a calm sea<br>As she finally bowed to a reality that she did not foresee</div><div style="margin:10px 0">She knew now for certain that the love of her life was the boyish youth<br>Who strolled casually, years back, to the Kohuwala phone booth<br>Then as love sparkled in a gaze, like a shooting meteor shower<br>The boyish pastor smiled amidst the tears of his lover</div><div style="margin:10px 0">Yet she was gone now, forever, for an eternity<br>As he embraced his future sans her serenading amity<br>The tears dried, as past lovers parted, nothing left to foster<br>The catastrophe of love, between a goddess and her boyish pastor</div><div style="margin:10px 0"><br /></a><br />poem by <a
